Palm V & iPhone/Blackberry Conversion

I have used a Palm V for many years. It no longer will let me access the information stored in it. I have Palm Desktop 4.2.1 on an iMac running 10.3.9. I'm about to convert to 10.5. Can I transfer the information from either my Palm V or from Palm Desktop to a new iPhone or Blackberry PDA?

You may want to talk to Apple about how or if you can iSync with the Palm V device to get you data into iCal etc on you MAC, then you can sync to your iPhone. iSync is an Apple product so Apple would need to help you with this issue.

Looks like the problem was on the Macbook Pro. Try ask the person using Macbook Pro turning down the speak volume (System Preferences->Sound->Output->Output Volume) or the microphone gain (System Preferences->Sound->Input->Input Volume).

Hotsync Palm w/ iPhone

Windows XP/Treo 650. Trying to sync calendar and contacts with iPhone. Changed the conduits to Outlook. Hand held device does not work thus can't sync with desktop. Need to sync desktop Palm to Outlook. Then iPhone will sync with Outlook. I think the problem is since the handheld is broken everything is trying to sync with it. Have everything set to "Do Nothing".

There is a third party program called Pocket Copy for Chapura. It will copy all the data from the Palm desktop over to Outlook.

New to iPhone, texting and conversations

I am new to the iPhone. I am trying to grasp the idea of conversations. Say I am messaging with my wife. If I create a new message and address it to her will it start a new conversation? Seems to me it just adds the conversation on to the same person. So I am wondering is everything just one continuous conversation with the person.

My face keeps pressing numbers during phone calls and the other parties on the calls find it very irritating. I hope the next iOS4 release fixes this. Users shouldn't have to carry a USB earpiece or use speaker phone for every call.

Palm Treo to Blackberry Tour conversion

Hi there - Just bought the new Blackberry Tour after having lost my Palm Treo this weekend Been using the Palm desktop software for eons and have tons of data to convert: contacts and calendar most important. Is the best way to do this still to transfer Palm data to Outlook and then Outlook to BB? And will that include the calendar data as well as contacts?

The Desktop Manager doesn't show any of the data like the Palm Desktop. It's just a conduit to sync information between the BlackBerry an your email client.

No iPhone audio during Facetime conversation (iPhone to Mac conversation)

I was talking to someone (me in the US on an American iPhone 4, them in Spain on a Spanish OSX and MacBook) via Facetime and all-the-sudden I couldn't hear her (though she could her me), like her microphone was disabled or something.
We tried various things, but the thing that fixed it was to try screen-sharing over iChat (connected to Google Talk accounts). Since iChat has audio-chat during screen-sharing, perhaps iChat re-calibrated the microphone on her MacBook.
Just wanted to share in case anyone else has similar problems.

Same exact problem here, although along with no audio in Video or FaceTime I'm unable to be heard when talking on speakerphone mode during a call. If I switch to non-speakerphone the other person can hear me; choose speakerphone and nothing.
When I record video or do FaceTime there is actually static the whole time.
I attempted the following with no change in results:
- Restarted iPhone
- Insert headphones in/out
Headphone jack appears to work fine, as I was able to record a video with proper audio using the headphones.
I submitted issue to Apple, but since it is after business hours, I'm going to attempt something else. Next step for me: factory reset phone and do a manual setup rather than restore from previous backup.

Really strange question here... but I've got a new 4s (just purchased today)... and here is what happens:
I'm in a texting conversation with a friend. I don't leave the conversation screen at all (so my last message sent is still on the screen). I can see the person typing their reply (in iMessage). My phone will then play the new text sound/vibrate... but the message doesn't show up in the conversation screen. For me to see the new message... I have to back out of the conversation and go into messages... where the "new message" blue bubble will show up.
What I'm wondering is... why in the world does that new message not simply show up in the conversation screen? Why do I have to back out completely to see new messages?
Any help would be VERY much appreciated. I've tried looking in the Message settings, but with no luck.

Just to clarify, since restoring the phone the message issue seems to be resolved, however I would like to find out why it's respringing and why the issue with the messages was occuring. It's starting to get annoying to have a phone that resets all the time and I really don't want a device that I have to restore every week or so.

Rogers.blackberry.net acccount deleted by blackberry?

A new BB10 user for 4 months now (Q10). I had setup forwarding of my old [email protected] e-mail to a new address, but forawrding suddenly stopped working. Rogers customer support advises Blackberry has deleted the associated account, although this forwarding service was supposed to be available for 12 months?
Any thoughts?

Yes BlackBerry no longer has that service for the new devices.

Shutting Off Sprint.BlackBerry.Net Email Auto-Forwarding After Sprint Account Closed

Hello. I recently had to close my Sprint account and switch to ATT, which meant giving up my Blackberry. Unfortunately, when I closed the Sprint account it didn't occur to me that I would need to shut off the BlackBerry email forwarding service separately. Since it was a Sprint subdomain I assumed Sprint would manage that.
Now the Sprint service is deactivated and I the Blackberry is no longer in use or attached to an active service plan. However, the email forwarding service is still active, and is trying to push email from my work account to [email protected] This address no longer exists.
So anyone trying to email me directly via my work account is getting returned mail errors from the Sprint Blackberry service even though the emails are going through to my work account without a problem.
Blackbery Tech Support requires Sprint to call them directly to deal with the issue. Sprint refuses to help me since I no longer have an account and further says it's something Blackberry needs to fix.
Everyone who is emailing me at work thinks their email is not getting through and it's creating a great deal of confusion.
I would really appreciate any advice for getting this fixed. Thanks.

Thank you very much for your detailed reply. I went back and talked to the person who set this whole thing up to begin with, and it turns out this particular Blackberry was never set up to use BIS.
Once I heard that, realized you were right: there had to be an email forwarding service somewhere. Network Solutions already told me there wasn't any forwarding going on from their servers, and I believed them before, but I went back and checked.
It took a while, but I finally found an all-but-hidden setting to forward emails from Network Solutions that was, indeed, trying to forward emails to the blackberry.net address. As soon as I shut that off the problem fixed itself.
Well, at least now I know I can't trust Network Solutions' technical support to know how their own software works. This whole situation was quite frustrating. The Sprint techs had me convinced it was a known problem with the Blackberry.net account servers.
Sorry to send everyone on a wild goose chase. Thanks for helping me. Without your suggestions I doubt I ever would have figured it out.

The problem seems to me a hardware problem, and may be poor assembly. Noticed that incoming calls on my first 4s when vibrator was on, made an extra vibrating noise - i.e. loose speaker, printboard or what do I know.
This does not occur on the phone I purchased yesterday, waiting for the other at the repairshop.
Does Telenor and Apple think I will accept the repaired brand new phone?

How can i get my daughter's imessage on my iphone and still have it show up on her ipod as an unread message

I have my iPhone setup so I can also get all of the iMessages that my daughter sends and receives on her iPod. The problem is that if I read the message first then it doesn't show up as a new message on her iPod and therefore she doesn't know that a message was sent. Is there a way that I can get my daughter's iMessage on my iPhone and still have it show up on her iPod as an unread message? Any ideas from anyone will help. I can't figure it out

I am not sure that I can really add anything to to this.
Apple used the phrase "sync" when saying what Messages on the Mac would do in regards to showing iMessages that were going to iOS devices.
It took to OS X 10.8.2 and iOS 6 to get as close as we have right now.
At best it looks like "Sync" means "Display on all Devices" and not much more.
The Mac version implies it will do more as there is a setting to notify people by return that you have read the iMessage.
The iOS devices have a similar "Send Receipts" item in the settings.
However actually reading an iMessage on one device seems to bear very little resemblance to anything that happens or can be seen on another device.
It seems for most people reading an iMessage on one device shows nothing at all on another device (the presumption being it arrives all places at the same time)
Your post is the closest I have seen to someone suggesting that it can be different on different devices.
You also seem to be implying that there is almost a time difference it the time your iPhone gets the iMessage and the time the iPod touch gets it.
I have certainly seen the "silent arrival" of iMessages on both my iPhone (when my computer and Messages is On) and on the iPhone if the conversation started on the Mac.
The Mac end will show both "Sent" and Received sides as it "Syncs" the conversation and beeps the alert sound for the Received part and the iPhone will remain silent.
Even "talking it through" like this in this post I am not coming to any real conclusions about what to try.
I am not even sure what to suggest to test for things to look out for.

Cannot Find File - Convert higher bitrate songs to 128kb AAC on an iPhone??

I ran out of room on my iPhone 3G, so I checked the "Convert higher bitrate songs to 128kb AAC" option. I had already made an 'iPhone' playlist as the only playlist synched with iTunes, and the playlist reduced its iPhone footprint by roughly 25%. It worked well except for several songs that "could not be found" by iTunes. These are all songs for which I have the CD, and play perfectly in iTunes (and on the iPhone before the conversion).
I have tried deleting the songs from my 'iPhone' playlist, iTunes, and my hard drive and reinstalling from the CD (first to iTunes then to the iPhone playlist) - ALL with reboots and permission repairs between reinstalls. These 13 songs seem to be impossible to convert, despite several other songs from the same CDs converting perfectly!!!
After each attempt, iTunes goes through and re-evaluates the gaps, which takes time. This is not a problem, I just note it for diagnostic purposes.
How do I resolve this perplexing and vexing conversion problem? The songs ARE on the hard drive, and iTunes CAN find them (because they play in other playlists and played before the conversion) they just do not seem to convert.
Help!

Everything is up to date, except for the security patch released yesterday. That is on the list for a 'today task' but I have not gotten to it yet.
