Hello rixtr66 and welcome to the Palm forums.
I haven't seen much talk about using Linux to sync with a Palm handheld or smartphone.  You might want to check the Palm forums over Brighthand.

  • Will the Palm TX sync with my macbook 10.5.1 osx??

I need to buy a palm and I am interested in the Palm TX.  It does not say that it supports MAC 10.5.1, so will I not be able to sync it to my computer?  What is the best option when looking for a palm to sync with my mac??  I appreciate any advice!

Just noticed your post to the subject issue. I have not been able to use my Palm TX since I switched from my old G4 to my new Intel Mac running OSX 10.5.2. I do not understand what you meant by "Mark/Space Missing Sync for Palm OS". Does this mean it is possible to sync my address book and calender without using of the antiqued Palm Desktop?

  • Z22 sync with Win7 64 bit via IR: error that port is in use by another application.

I've read the solution for syncing a Z22 with Win7/Vista 64-bit. I have a USB-to-IrDA adapter that is working. I've set Hotsync on both the Z22 and PC to Infrared. When I start to sync, I get a message on the Z22: "Unable to initiate HotSync operation because the port is in use by another application". I can beam files from the Z22 to the PC with no problem.  I'm not aware of any other app using the port. (When I put the Z22 in range of the IR adapter, the "send files" window comes up on the PC. I've tried syncing with this window open and closed, and the error's the same either way.) Any suggestions?

We followed a suggestion from another post.  And I wanted to add it here since it helped us after a lot of struggling.  We connected/synced a Z22 to windows 7 64 bit PC via a IR adapter Startech USB2IRX. Using a driver downloaded directly from their website, not the CD that comes with the adapter, driver installation was smooth. The installation application installed it without problems. (I also tried an adapter from cables unlimited IrDA wireless bridge. Then I had to install the drivers for windows vista 64bit manually onto my win 7 64 bit machine.)  After driver installation, we were getting an error indicating that the port is in use by another application.  And we were stuck until I read a post which suggests a soft-reset on the palm.  After that it was smooth sailing.
Palm really is going the way of the dinosaur-otherwise they would have had a usb driver for windows 7 64 at this point. But it you need to as I did you should be able to sync your device.

  • Palm Z22 - problem with my memo

My Palm Z22 - When I tap the memo icon the screen goes blank and I have to do a soft reset to get the Palm working. Everything else works fine. It sees I lost all my memos. What can I do?

Hello and welcome to the Palm forums.
Have you recently added something to your memos? It seems like there is a corrupt file in your memos.
Do you have your memos saved on your computer - were they sync'd to the computer before?

  • Palm Z22 hotsync with windows 7 64 bit-using IRD

I have been trying to hotsync my input from Palm Z22 into my new OS Windows 7 64 bit using first the USB-unsuccessful.
I purchased an IRD to try and hotsync onto OS windows 7 64 bit- but also have failed.  Any advise?

I do not know if it will work. In his post at brighthand that he made the Aceeca driver available to the palm community Alex stated that it should work with many Palm devices that were os 4 or 5. You are using an older version of the palm desktop and one of the older os 4 devices. I do know of people with the palm m505 and m515 using the Aceeca driver with success, but they were using a newer version of the palm desktop. I believe most were using the 4.1.4 palm desktop version. I do not know if experimenting with a newer desktop version will help either.

  • Documents to Go on Palm TX Syncing with Vista

I cant seem to get my documents to sync with my Palm TX. Everytime I click on the Documents To Go icon on my Vista desktop it gives me a "Runtime error" message. Help! What do I do?

Plan B (free) is to create a folder on a SD card into which you copy (via your computer's SD reader/writer or a USB addition) the files you want your device's Docs2Go to use.
Providing the installation of the Docs2Go was successful onto your TX via Vista, it'll read these and be able to edit and create new files. Granted, its not as seamless as a properly working Docs2Go as you swap files like this manually, but you regain functionality of the program on the device.
You'll also want to disable the sync to Docs2Go via Hotsync > Custom > Documents to Go > and set its default as 'Do Nothing' and promptly forget Docs2Go exists on your machine. But don't uninstall it as this may also uninstall the device's version at the next Hotsync.
Its really the sync portion of the Docs2Go that came with your TX that doesn't work in Vista - but as that's a major point of the software....
I'm not sure how long you've had your TX or how long you've been on Vista - but given Palm is still selling its 3 year old TX, one might assume it would have been a nice gesture for DataViz to ensure the product that comes on the CD actally works with current OSs, yes? Apparently not - the upgrade for a Vista / Office 2007-friendly version runs at around $30. Which seems excessive given that the PalmOs is in its death throes.
Hope Plan B works for you.

  • Palm Z22 synch. with Outlook 2007

My old HP 4700 series PDA has died.  Fortunately, I've been backing it up to Outlook 2007.  I tried to replace it with an HP 111, but it simply would not synch. with Outlook and I eventually sent it back.  I really don't need WiFi on the PDA, so I'm thinking about going with a much simpler model and the Palm Z22 has been recommended.  I just want to make sure that it will easily synch with Outlook 2007 so I don't have to reenter all the contacts, calendar entries and notes that are presently on Outlook.  Has anyone had any problems that I should know about?  Any comments about the Z22 would also be appreciated.  Thanks.

Yes, the z22 will work with Outlook. However, Palm is not selling the z22 anymore. You might be able to find it on ebay...

  • Palm TX sync with IMac SL 10.6

I have the Palm TX and IMac snow leopard 10.6. Is there a valid reason to install Palm desktop 4.2.1 AND Missing Sync? I certainly want to maintain the sync for my calendar and contacts, but also my memos and notepad. I'm inclined to believe an Ipod Touch is in my future so having the sync with ICal and Address book is a plus, but I'm not ready to make that investment just yet.  I'm just stumped whether to install one or both?  Or maybe Palm desktop now and missing sync later?
If I read the DataViz website correctly, my Documents to Go should sync with my IMac just fine.
    Any guidance here?

  • Replacing Palm and Syncing with Mac

I have been using a Palm handheld (the bottom-of-the-range Z22) for many years, together with the appropriate version of the Palm Desktop application on my Mac. Now my handheld has given up the ghost, and, having begun to look for a replacement, have begun to realize that the world has changed while I haven't been watching. Where have all the Palm handhelds gone?
I would be really grateful for advice, since any replacement will have to fulfil the following requirements. Firstly, I must be able to back up data from it onto my Mac (and vice versa), just as I have been able to do hitherto. Secondly, I want to be able to transfer all my data from my present Palm Desktop application to the new device and whatever desktop application comes with it. (As far as my contacts are concerned, I have kept them in an AppleWorks database as well as on my Palm and Palm Desktop. I suppose it conceivably might be easier to import them from the AW database than from Palm Desktop. But my diary entries for the next year or two, and my Memo data, will in any case have to come from Palm Desktop.)
The crucial thing in both these matters is that my computer is a PPC one and my operating system is Tiger (10.4.11), and I am not proposing to upgrade these, since a great deal of my expensive software would also have to be upgraded if I did.
As far as I can see, only fossilized remains of plain old handhelds (diary, address book, memos) now exist. I do not really want a smartphone, since I have an ordinary mobile 'phone anyway and do not require mobile access to e-mails and internet. But if I have to have a smartphone, so be it, as long as I can synch it with my Mac and can import my data from Palm Desktop into it.
Thank you very much for suggestions, ideas amd advice.

Appleworks is no longer supported.  So a Palm software may actually be better when moving to the modern day.  See this user tip with regards to converting your Appleworks files:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2522
    According to:
    http://roaringapps.com/app:2293
It appears Palm has abandoned the Mac as well, and Missing Sync is your best bet to keep your old files updated:
    http://www.markspace.com/osx-lion/index.html
So you might want to consider their software, and compatible devices to integrate yourself when you move up to Intel Macs.  This migration tip explains other things you may need to consider:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2295
    And if upgrading to Leopard:

    Or Snow Leopard:

  • Palm pre sync with Google tasks?

Hello, I am thinking about upgrading my Centro to a Palm Pre versus a Google Android phone. I am leaning towards the pre but for one issue. I know that it is easy to sync Google calendars, but what about syncing Google tasks? I saw some old posts that said you can't do it, but am wondering if it is now supported.

Hello.  I am new to the forum and might not be here long if a couple issues can't can't be fixed.
    1.  As an ADHD adult, the tasks list is by far the most important application on a Palm for me.   I synchronized all my data from Palm Desktop 6.22 to my brand new Pre and there are a couple problems.  One, I can't figure out how to do recurring tasks.  On the Centro it was simple.  Just enter something like "feed the fish"  and set it to redo three days after task was completed.  I see no settings like this .  How can I get recurring tasks back?
    2.  I used to have categories on my Palm Centro task list.  For example, as a teacher, I had school tasks, a grocery lists, a Home Depot list, etc.  These categories disappeared after I synced to my newly created Google account.
    3.    This is pretty similar to number two.  I used to have categories for memos.  Categories for passwords, categories for college stuff, categories for fantasy baseball stuff, etc.  Now, they're gone.  How do I get them back.
    4.  More memos questions.  How come some of them show the details and then starting at the letter P, I just see sticky notes with one or two letters?  WHat is that about?  How am I supposed to know  what those memos are?  How do I fix this?
I've been a Palm Use for well over a decade, but if Palm can;t fix things like this, well, then I guess I'll give up on 'em and get a Droid like my wife.  However, Palm has helped me organize my life for so long I'd like to stay with them.  Are there any fixes for these problems, either via setting on the phone, apps, or anything else?  Thank you in advance for your help.

  • Having problems with my Palm M600 sync with Windows 7

I just got new compuer with Windows 7 and I have an old Palm Pilot M500.  I loaded disk but it is trying to use COM1 port and I don't have a com port.  I have plugged into the USB and have been trying to figure how to get it to work.  I keep getting the following error :  The selected port, COM1, is not available at this time.  HotSync Manager will open the prot when it becomes available.
Well I have tried everything.  My new DELL doesn't have a modem or com ports.  I checked my hot sync, it doesn't give me a USB option, just local serial, modem, or network.  None of the other work.  I checked on line and saw a newer Hot SYnc manager ( I am running 4.0.2) I installed this and it gave me a USB option but it said no drivers.  THen I noticed that my ability to sync to Outlook went away.  so I uninstalled th downloaded hotsync and reiinstalled from my disk cause I need to sync to Outlook
    PLEASE HELP

This thread (posted at the top of this forum in plain sight) might offer some hints.

  • Palm desktop sync with Windows 7 64-bit

I can see that this topic has been beaten to death here, but I can't seem to find an answer despite a number of search attempts.  I'm trying to hotsync a Treo 90 to a Win7 64-bit machine via a USB connection.  I have Palm Desktop v. 4.0.1 running.  I have downloaded and installed the 64-bit drivers recommended here and can see the Treo in the Device Manager - it seems to be running normally, no yellow query.  Yet, when I try to hotsync from the device, it just hangs, waiting for a connection that never happens.  I'd appreciate any advice as to what I might have done wrong or what to do next to try to fix the problem.  Thanks much,

Hello rhackett and welcome to the Palm forums.
If you are using a 64-bit edition of Windows 7 you will be unable to perform a HotSync using the provided 32-bit USB driver from the Treo software CD.  You will need to perform a HotSync over Bluetooth.  For more details, check out this thread.

  • Palm Z22 - problem with duplication of entries

    Hi,
I am not a techie by any means, so simple language will be most appreciated.
I am having a problem where, sometimes, in the Contacts feature, I will edit an item and later see that there are now 2 entries instead of one.  I am not sure why this is happening.  Is there a way to prevent it in the future?
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Post relates to: Palm Z22

No there is no easy way to check for corruption. There is a program that can look for it for you. This program is called DBfixit. This program is free to use but there is another side to the program that can just fix the issue rather than scan for the issue. You can find this program here: http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/dbfixit.htm
If you use this program on your device before you sync I suggest that you change your conduit settings. I can give you a walk though on how to do this but I would need to know what version of Palm Desktop you are using.
