Panasonic Car Stereo - iPod problem

I've been using my video iPod with my Panasonic car stereo via the CA-DC300U cable. (The receiver has a terrible iPod interface, but that's another point.) Until recently, it's worked perfectly. Now, for no obvious reason, the stereo won't always recognize the iPod (sometimes fixable if I unplug the cable and plug it back in) and it has stopped charging the iPod. It won't recognize the iPod at all if the battery is drained. The iPod works great with my Macbook, so I don't think it's the iPod. But this problem seems to have started about the time of my most recent software update. Anybody have any thoughts or similar problems?

Hello. I have the same problem for two weeks.
My player of DVD for the car does not recognize my Ipod even if reset both.
That I can do in the matter?
The DVD accepts other Ipods so the problem is come from that.

  • Anyone have their Touch hooked up to a Panasonic Car Stereo?

I have my Touch scheduled to deliver on Monday and I currently get the most out of my current 5G Video iPod in the car which is hooked up to my Panasonic Car Stereo that is iPod compatible. I have tried to ask Panasonic if their current and past stereo models are compatible with the new Touch's and all I get back in reply is "they haven't been tested yet for the Touch." So is anybody else out there successful in getting their new Touch connected to their Panasonic Car Stereo's via the Panasonic iPod cable?

I can confirm that it does work with the DEH-P7900BT model. I have tested that one with the Touch and the 3G Nano. I would assume other models will work as well.

  • Iphone 3g and Panasonic car stereo problems

    Hi,
I have an iphone 3g and a Panasonic CQ-RX400U car stereo. The stereo has a front-panel USB port. I've been using the cable that came with the phone to connect to the stereo and everything has been working great. All of the stereo's iPod controls handled navigation through the iPhone perfectly, and the unit muted when a call came in, etc...
Just today though, it stopped working. The stereo gets stuck, alternating between "READING" and "PAUSE" with no playback. Nothing I tried has worked. I think this may have been the first time I've tried to connect since I upgraded to 2.1 on the phone.
Any ideas or similar experiences? Thanks for helping!

    Well
I did some more tests on some of my other buds Iphones
The 2.1 Operating System is definitely the culpret.
Everyone First Gen Iphone and Iphone 3G I tried that had ver 1.xx and 2.xx worked below version 2.1
So, I hope apple fixes this and we get some help bud, cause they screwed something up bigtime when they upgraded the OS.
Hopefully we will have a answer tomorrow when everything opens again. Very disappointed in Apple.
Some of my friends won't even touch the new update since they got their phones because they are afraid the 2.1 will kill their accessories usage in there other brands of USB Decks they just bought for their cars over the past few months.
I strongly agree with them at this time not to Upgrade, whether it fixes stuff or not, would rather sacrifice features and fixes than spent more money on the **** accessories.
Very disappointed that Apple can kill off accessories like this and wonder why people are switching phones due to the cost of accessories that work and die with these new iphones.
We wait here patiently apple for you to reply and see whats causing this stupid error.
    THANKS

  • IPod car stereo  Interface problem

Ever since I downloaded the iPhone software version 3.13, the music plays very poorly or not at all through my car stereo interface. I have a Peripheral Audio Gateway which works fine with our other iPods. What can I do to fix the problem? Is there a way to remove the newest software and go back to the previous version?

  • Kenwood Car Stereo iPod Interface

I have a Kenwood Car Stereo head unit and their iPod interface (KDC4531W and KCA IP500 respectively) which work really well.
Tonight I had to hard reset the iPod (via Menu and Play) to get the system to recognise the iPod following stopping and starting the car. The head unit displayed E-60 as the error code. I'm sure this isn't a deep sleep problem, unless the timer is set at less than an hour...
Following the reset it all worked OK...
Anyone else seen this? Anyone know what caused it?
(I've just downloaded iTunes 6 and am using iPod Software 3.1 in the iPod)
    Thanks
    Rob

Thanks Paul - at least I know its not me...
I'm going to try reformatting & syncing my iPod to see if that works.
I assume the IP500 will work with the new ipods - it certainly works with our Mini and 4G one. Suggest you email Kenwood support, they're really helpful!

  • Car stereo - iPod hookup help

I just bought a new car and I'm wanting to put a new stereo in it. I want to make sure I get the right one for me. I want to be able to hook up my iPod to the stereo. But there's so many different choices like: 1.) aux outlet 2.) direct hook up (where you put the iPod directly into a iPod slot on the stereo) 3.) USB port...And I'm sure there are many others. Could someone help and really explain in detail all the different types of iPod hook ups for car stereos? And which do you recommend? Thank You!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Here are the differences:
Aux - not digital sound, doesn't charge iPod, can't control iPod on the stereo.
USB - not only can use iPod, but other USB storage devices (thumb drive, portable hard drives). Usually gives you full control of the player on the unit and can charge the unit. Some units have a USB jack in the front of the unit.
iPod direct hook up - similar to USB but only for iPod. Only found from the back of any unit that needs to be run out from somewhere else.
Best thing to do with the units that do USB is take your iPod with you and plug them into the units that have front USB jacks and see the controls.
Keep in mind, this around the time that new models start to come out, so you may want to wait for a month or so to see the new units that will be available. A lot of the new units that will be coming out will be less expensive for USB and/or iPod controls.
    Hope this helps.

  • Car stereo link problem

Since updating to iOS 8.0.2 the player on both my vehicles won't control remotely. I does in a limited way. When the phone first plugs in and I select the "iPod" as a source the music won't play unless I command it to from the iPhone. It does this on both my new My Link and my old low tech 2 year old truck stereo. Has anyone else seen this? Any fixes?

Reset your network settings and repair with your vehicle. You will have to re log in to all WiFi hotspots and repair all Bluetooth devices.

It really depends if that is a recent statement from the manufacturer.
It could well have been true when the HiFi was released.
You need to contact them and ask if the iPod touch 2G is supported, have a look on thier website they may have more up to date information.

  • Any ideas on problem with ipod and alpine cde-9881 car stereo

I have an ipod 60gb v 1.2.1 and a new Alpine car stereo with Ipod connecting cable. When connected, the stereo message reads IPod searching. It never assumes control of ipod,or quits searching. I have reset and restored my ipod, had the apple geek at genius bar check it out. My ipod does not play on the alpine ipod ready stereo in my husband's car, nor the stereos in Car Toys. My husband's 30 gb ipod plays on the stereo in his car AND my car. Help! Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem? Alpine is telling me it could be a software problem with my ipod, and to revert to an earlier version of itunes. But my husband's ipod works in my car. So I did a restore using his computer and itunes....no luck. am interested in any ideas on a possible solution!!
    Thanks in advance

Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? If not, have a look at the bottom section that covers what to try if the message keeps reappearing: iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore
Towards the end it says "If after restoring your iPod, the message described above reappears, the iPod drive letter may need to be reassigned. See the "Change the Drive Letter" section of this document for steps to assign a different drive letter" which contains a link to this article: Windows confuses iPod with network drive and iTunes may exhibit strange behavior in relation to the iPod.

  • IPod and JVC Car Stereo random resetting problem

    Hey all,
I recently bought my first iPod (yay!), a 30gig 5th generation. I also had a JVC KD-PDR30 cd player installed in my car so that I could hook up the iPod to it and eliminate all the random cds cluttering up my vehicle. It works great -- most of the time... the last few days I've my iPod has been randomly resetting itself while connected to the car stereo -- it's connected through the dock port (not the headphone jack) and works 90% of the time. Even still, this is frustrating. I almost want to just connect it from the headphone jack to the aux in on the car stereo. Anyway, it only seems to do this while it is connected to the car stereo. I've never had a problem with the iPod resetting while using it outside of the car. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks Apple community!!!
    Theo

I had the JVC radio with iPod connector which worked just fine for my old iPod. When I upgraded to the iTouch I had to put in a new JVC stereo. The old version does not work with the iTouch (the same issues prev. stated). The new stereo has an USB hookup on the front. It plays the iTouch, but occas. the song or book will skip. At first I thought it was when I turned corners, but realized it was just random. A bit annoying. I looked at other stereos, but I could not get the iTouch and Sirus in the same unit, except for the JVC. If you can live without your iTouch I would wait until JVC or Apple address this issue. I could not live without either (I hate commercials!), so I made the jump to the first generation. I know better.

  • HT1369 I have an Alpine car stereo with USB port for my iPod, most recently an error message apperared.  Now I am having a problem connecting to iTunes  via my computer, with windows 7. The screen on my iPod still shows the Alpine logo and "Ok to Disconne

Please help. My iPod froze up after playing in Alpine car stereo. The screen shows the "Alpine" logo and the message "ok to disconnect" I have tried to connect to my PC with little success.  Windows 7 does not recognize the iPod with the error message "device error".  I have run the iTunes Diagnostics but it still does not recognize device as "connected"

See my reply to "Transferring Tunes" . Suggestion: From what you said, it sounds like you could easily connect this iPod to a Windows computer. Go back to the computer where you have the 3600 songs. Get the files out of the folder where they reside and put them on the iPod as data (your iPod has to be set up for disc use. So you will then have your music on there as the iTunes music AND the data files. Take that iPod to your Mac. Drag those files from the Finder, where you will see them on your iPod, which will mount like an external disc. (It was set up for disc use). Drag those files to your iTunes Library in the Source List (on the left) in iTunes. You might have to drag them into some interim folder on your harddrive first, like the Music folder within your User.

  • IPod Classic connectivity to Car Stereo problems

I have an iPod Clas. The software version is 1.1.2.  My new car stereo will not recognize anything before 1.2.  Is there anyway to upgrade the software version of my Classic?
    Thanks.

    jfallon_bonedoc,
If iTunes does not see any firmware updates for your model of iPod classic, and you are positive your iTunes application is up to date, then I'm afraid there is no way to update to another firmware version.  Sorry.

  • After iOS5 update, iPod no longer connects to car stereo

    Hi,
my husband and I both have an iPod touch 4th generation.
We also have a Dodge Caravan with a car stereo, that lets up hook up the iPods and control them over the display. The cable does not charge the iPods, but we knew that.
I have updatedt my iPod a while ago and never encountered any problems with the car stereo.
My husband updated his iPod to iOS5 today, and the car stereo does not connect via the cable. On the iPods display it just says, an error has ocurred.
Would that be a hardware issue? The iPod is a month or two past warranty. We already tried restarting and resetting the iPod (not to factory settings).
Is there maybe a way, to return the iPod to iOS4?
    Thanks for any help

Sometimes, when you cannot "see" your ipod, it is because the drive that was assigned to the ipod, when you connected it, is already being used by the other devise. Your ipod is connected, but is "under" the other item, which means that you have to disconnect that item, so that you can "see" it. It will not be one of the drives that are normally associated with the computer like the C drive, or the ones assigned to your disc drives. It would be a drive that was assigned to an external devise, or another USB devise. This may or may not be your problem, but it is worth a shot.

  • IPod Touch 3G w/ stopped working with car stereo/docking speakers

After I upgraded to OS 4, my iPod Touch 3g stopped working through the USB port of my car stereo (just says "reading" and never progresses from there). It also stopped working through the docking station (basically a large clock radio) that I bought for my living room -- it will recharge and play music through the speakers but the docking station and its remote can no longer control the music (can't advance to the next song or anything else), so I have to physically change things on the ipod itself.
I was told by Crutchfield (where I'd purchased the car stereo) that this was a known problem with Apple -- that with OS4, many of the devices that previous worked with iPods no longer worked, and that this would be resolved in a later version of the OS that would provide some backward compatibility. However, I can't find anything at all about this.
If anyone knows more information about this, or has a link to where I might be able to read more, I'd appreciate the info. I selected and installed both the (almost new!!) car stereo and docking station specifically because they allowed me to connect and control my iPod, and now I've lost that functionality and the $$ I put into those devices (over $300 total)!

I apologize for posting a bit early.  Found an Alpine manual online and i needed to set the AUX port to off.  They also recommended a reset of the Touch.  After doing these two things it is now working.  Maybe this will help someone else.

  • After updating to 4.3.5, my iPod Touch nolonger works on my car stereo! Any idea how to restore Version 4.3.4

Don't know if any other users have had this problem?
I have updated my iPod Touch (4th Generation) to the latest software version (4.3.5) but now I can no longer use my iPod Touch with my car stereo.
I drive a brand new Chevrolet Orlando, & until I updated to 4.3.5, My iPod Touch work perfectly with the inbuilt car stereo, including the steering mounted controls & displaying track names, artiest, album, Etc.
Ever since the update, I have lost the display on the stereo, but it still recognises that I have pluged the iPod in.
The only way I can get my iPod to play is by playing a track through the inbuilt speaker (on the iPod) & then plugging it into the car stereo.
When I do this thou, I have no control over what is being played as I am unable to skip tracks/play list/Etc & I have no track information, which I could do when my iPod Touch was running software version 4.3.4 & below!
Is there any way I can reinstall version 4.3.4? I have tried to do a restore through iTunes, but it keeps installing 4.3.5! I have tried to reset my iPod, but again it reinstalls 4.3.5
Any help & advice would be great!

Just to add a bit more information here! LOL!
Tried the followind devises on the car stereo & here are the results -
My Wifes iPhone 3G running iOS 4.3.2 = Worked fine!
My Sons iPhone 4G running iOS 4.3.4 = Worked fine!
My Sons iPod Classic running iOS 2.2.1 = Worked fine!
My Daughters iPod Touch (3rd Gen) running iOS 4.3.3 = Worked fine!
I think this rules out the problem being with my iPod Touch, as it is the only Apple product we as a family own which has been updated to 4.3.5! The rest of my family are now holding off updating there's! LOL!!
