Panasonic-fs 100 fcp update

Hi Guys
I have done a good days work trying to find out things and now I hope for some stright answer.
q1; do I have to upgrade to fcp 5.1 to use a firestore hard drive whihich capture frome a hvx-200.
q2; runing on 5.04 and I follow firestore fcp set up when i come to import by going to panasonica 2 the program fcp closes down and I don't get any futher.
any help in this matter would be great to read tomorrow morning when I wake up ready to go again.
thanks a lot for you help

I imported some P2 720P24 from a firestore last week and am running 5.0.4. There is a sequence of events to set up the firestore. to prepare the data captured it must be conformed or converted(can't remember the terminology) to P2 format. this sets up the footage to be recognized as a P2 volume. the other I believe was to set the firestore to be a mountable drive and I also can't remember the terminology, nor do I have the firestore here to tell you so check the manual for those scenarios. It worked fine and was pretty quick.

  • Installing latest FCP update

    Hi
I'm sure I'm overcomplicating an easy question but here goes....I have had to buy another G5 whilst my existing machine is being repaired by Apple.
I have a project last saved in FCP version 6.0.3.
I've re-installed FCP 6 on the new G5, but Apple did not install the Airport card I paid for. Ergo I can't get a net connection to download the FCP updates. Meaning I can't open the project since I'm stuck on FCP version 6.0.
I know the easiest thing to do is take the new G5 back and get them to install the darn airport card. But the nearest Apple shop is 100 miles away.
Finally the question: Is there a way I can copy the update files from my macbook pro onto a CD and finally the G5? If there is where do I find them on the disk to burn across? Many thanks for any help.+*
    Ben

Just hook up your G5 via an ethernet cable.

  • Importing Hi 8 video through Panasonic DVX 100

Here's my dilemma... I want to capture Hi 8 video. I have hooked up my original Sony Handycam camera as the player - feeding video into my Panasonic DVX 100 through the old school red-yellow-white cables. My Panasonic DVX 100 video out is a Mac Firewire that connects into a firewire 6 port hub which connects into the Mac.
Going through "Capture" on FCE, I can see the Hi 8 video. So I hit play on the Handycam player, then click "Capture Now."
But then I get the following error message "Device must be in VTR mode when Device Control is enabled."
I have the Panasonic in VCR mode (DV output set to "on") and the Handycam in "player" mode.
What am I missing? Thanks for helping out!

The solution poses a new problem, one that other people are having as well.. After I capture a clip, I get a warning regarding sample audio rate. According to my easy setup, the DV - NTSC - DV Converter audio rate is 48 kHz for both the sequence and capture.
I can't find an audio rate setting on the Sony Handicam Hi 8 camera, which is the camera that originally recorded the tape.
How can I resolve the error warning?

  • Resizing of images after FCP update not working. When I try to resize, It resizes a blank transparent image.

I am having trouble resizing images after I installed the FCP update. When I press the transform button, and then click on teh image, I go to the little blue dots on the side of the image that usually resize the image, and when I drag them out, instead of the image resizing, a black trasparent rectangle the same size as the photo expands outward to my desired size. This has happened to me before the update when trying to resize text, but the problem usually fixed itself once I clicked again on the text line in the editing section.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Russ,
It doesn't work that way either, however it's okay because I solved the problem. Turns out I had to select 'add keyframe' on either the 'crop' or 'distort' tabs and it fixes itself. No idea why but the problem is solved! Thanks for your help anyhow.

  • FCP Update 5.1.4

I too seem to need the latest FCP Update 5.1.4... been a registered user for years now and can't seem to bring it up... anyone know where i can find it?
    PULEEEASE?

well i tried that sight, and the closest i could get to the update was the Pro App update... still nothing so far.. my biggest problem right now is, thinking 5.1.4 could help, is that the program freezes nearly every time i try to do some rendering... any one have any ideas as to why?

  • FCP Update 5.1.2 problem

Wondering if anybody has this same problem?
Last night, like a good Apple plebe, I loaded all the updates Apple recommended:
    FCP Update 5.1.2
Mac OS X Update (PowerPC) 10.4.8
    iTunes 7.0.1
    Pro Applications Update 2006-02 1.0
    Cinema Tools Update 3.1.2
After rebooting my machine all the apps worked except FCP. I went to the support page and did everything asked of me. Got rid of 3rd party QT plug-ins, deleted preferences, etc...
    Nothing worked.
So, I deleted FCP and loaded it from the discs. It booted up. Hurray!!
So, why not I thought? I loaded FCP Update 5.1.2 again, and guess what... it wouldn't boot FCP. I deleted the program again and reinstalled it and it seems to work fine. Not sure if anybody else has experienced this yet, and can offer a solution. I am just going to avoid loading the update for now.
Thought somebody might find this interesting.

Here I am replying to my own message.
After reading a post regarding this problem on Creative Cow it turns out to be a Zazwerks plug-in. In this case 3d Flag. I use it in Motion.
    The path is Library/Plug-ins/FxPlug/Zaxwerks3DFlag.fxplug
When I remove that last folder, the Zaxwerks one, FCP 5.1.2 loads no problem. Put the plug-in back, and no loading.
There you go. Causes me some problem as I am using the plug-in for a client project in Motion, but I guess we'll just move it in and out until a fix is developed.

  • Problems with FCP update 10.1.3

I attempted to install the FCP update on August 20th.
Since then I have not been able to open FCP.
I click on the icon in my dock. The mac app store opens and this warning message pops up: Final Cut Pro can not be opened while it is being updated.
FCP is not listed as a recently installed update on my list of updates (compressor worked fine). There are no other updates in my mac app store to be installed.
I have restarted my computer. But am not so great at tech stuff so not sure what to do next.
    Thanks for any help,
    Rosalee

Sounds like the download is incomplete. Move the application to the trash and use the Install button from the Purchases page of the App Store.

  • Panasonic DVX-100 audio sync tool not showing up in the tools menu

Using FCP 7 in new Mac Pro with a clean install. I following the directions for copying the DVX-100 audio sync file into the proper folder /Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro System Support/Plugins/
The directions say the Offset Audio Sync command should now appear in the Tools menu. It does not.
I have tried trashing preferences - reinstall the Audio Sync Tool - but it still does not show up.
I use the Panasonic Camera and with my earlier editions of FCP I had no problem installing and using
    the Audio Sync file.
Anyone have the same problem or know a solution?
    Thanks

I am not sure what's happening with IE9 (no live site) but I had real problems viewing your code in Live View - until I removed the HTML comment marked below. Basically your site was viewable in Design View but as soon a I hit Live view, it disappeared - much like IE9. See if removing the comment solves your issue.

  • Sony PMW-EX3 vs. Panasonic AG-HPX300 & FCP

For FCP editors, which HD camera would be the best choice?
They're now almost identical in price... so if someone handed you ten grand and said buy a camera, which one would you buy?

    I have an EX3.
The SxS cards unload very quickly and there is NO processing before you work with it - I love that. Also the Express card slot on a MacBook Pro will read (and write) the SxS card so you do not need to carry a reader when you're on the road. The video plays perfectly and does not load the processor at all. I can also edit the video and the RUN IT BACK INTO THE SxS CARD (try that with P2) - this allows you to play it out through the SDI port on the camera and feed the video to the networks or other equipment that is not connected to a computer.
The low light abilities of this camera blows me away. I shot our local capital rotunda from 3/4 of a mile away at night, without any gain - in fact I had to close the iris down a bit! The blacks are black without any noise.
Battery life is great - about 3 hours on a 1.95AH small battery. Plus if you want to "Run and Gun" you can still get away with it using this camera - it is not too big.
Another really great thing about the EX3 is the viewfinder. People like Robert Primes (CSA) says this is the best viewfinder he has ever seen. You can actually use this camera without a large monitor. You really need to check one out in person. Mr. Primes talks about the EX in two different videos on a Sony web site at:
    https://vts.inxpo.com/scripts/InXpo.nxp?LASCmd=L:0&AI=1&ShowKey=1405&LoginType=0 &InitialDisplay=1&ClientBrowser=0&DisplayItem=NULL
You'll have to look around in the XDCAM EX area of the "Convention Center" for the videos (I don't know why Sony hides them). It is very enlightening.
This camera is a full raster 1920x1080 and shoots NTSC (and PAL) with native real 24 fps format not pull downs.
The first thing that everyone that says when they see footage off this camera is "WOW" - really! (The last one was a guy at a TV station.)
So I think everyone should buy the Panasonic camera because I love having an unfair advantage.

  • FCP Update to 5.0

My update went well or at least it works, however, I have a new JVC PRO/HD50 cassett player/record that my apple can't find. I've check and says, "Unknown" I'am using 6pin to 6pin firewire. When I'm booting up FCP it says, "missing apple fire wire 720x480" I go into my FCP>view>video play back, none is check, but if I check all frames, the screen go black and have to hit Cntrl;Q to quit. ...have a better idea on having FCP recog. my JVC Unit/Deck. I have shot DV and SD format that I would like to load. Thanks Kevin

    Sounds like problems in FCP.
Try getting the newest updates, such as Final Cut Pro 5.0.4, it's resloving more and more camera issues while as it progresses.

  • URGENT - problems with fcp updates

I have created a film with final cut pro, exported it and found that i could not open in it in Compressor. Or more accurately - my compressor was not working at all! So I was advised to reinstall compressor and Final Cut Pro, but this has made no improvement to the compressor problem, and now it says I cannot open my project as it was created in a later version of FCP.
I cant seem to get the two versions of the programme to marry up correctly - so what versions are compatible? I imagine it is FCP 6.0 and Compressor 3.0.??
And what do you advise me to do now to get my project open again?
    Thank you

Make sure that FCP is FULLY updated. Just launch FCP, no project. You can do that my holding down the SHIFT key. Now go to the Final Cut Pro menu and choose ABOUT FINAL CUT PRO. What version does it say?

  • Retrieving Video files originally loaded before Leopard and FCP updates

I loaded in 10 hours of video onto a LaCie drive and created a FCP project. Since then (over six months ago) my MacBookPro's operating system has been upgraded to Leopard and there has been an upgrade of FCP itself. Trying to open the project now ends in failure. The project file still exists. However, all the video has gone off-line. It is not even visible as files on the LaCie drive even though clearly 100GB of memory are still indicated as being used. Does anyone know a way of retrieving these files? The only option may be to load the video in again.

Sounds like you have a problem with the drive itself. It's not an FCP problem don't think. There are two software programs to try to see if you can recover the files, both are about $100 each though. One is Disk Warrior, and the other is Data Rescue II. DW will rebuild the directory of the drive, and if that fails, then Data Rescue II will copy to another drive the contents of any drive no matter what the condition is as long as it's spinning... Might just recapture if you can reformat that drive.

  • Capturing 24p Video from Panasonic DVX-100

I shot some material on the 24p mode of the Panasonic DVX-100a. I want to capture it as progressive Video because it's for The web. In The Final Cut capture settings, there is a setting for advanced pulldown removal. But not for The regular 24p mode. I dont even care about The frame rate, but i need This footage to be proggressive so I won't get the interlaced defect!

In the USE area of the Easy Setup, choose Cinema Tools 23.98 from DV-NTSC. That will remove standard 3:2 pulldown (which is 24p). You would only use the Advanced Pulldown removal if you had shot 24pA (the A standing for Advanced). Be aware that you will still have 6 interlaced frames in your video.
You no longer have to actually launch Cinema Tools to do this. You can do it from within FCP for about 2 or 3 versions now.

  • Quicktime update + fcp update = iDVD problem

recently updated my quicktime to 7.1.5
Now, after exporting clip from FCP 5.1.4, dropping the quicktime file into iDVD5, and burning a DVD, the clips are not able to be played on a consumer DVD player (I tried 3 different ones). The DVD is able to be navigated, but once a button is selected, the menu freezes and there is no clip. However, the DVD works fine on a computer (pc and mac). I have been working with this process for the last 2 years with no problem, and the DVD's were fine even hours before the upgrade.
    Any thoughts are appreciated!
