Panasonic FZ8 raw support

The Panasonic DMC-FZ8 is a very capable compact bridge camera, with full manual control and some features you don't even find in most DSLRs. Raw support within LR would be welcome.
Thanks for listening
John

Any new camera will get added. But the addition will come in sync with ACR updates and one mainly just has to wait for it.

  • IPhoto update failed with my Panasonic GH1 raw file.

I just installed the new package for Panasonic GH1 raw support for iPhoto 09 but it did not work. It did not recognize or allow an import of my raw file from the Panasonic.

Did you run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions after installing the update? Also backup and launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed to rebuild the library. Select the last three options.
    Now try again.

  • Panasonic Gh4 Raw file support

Any idea as to when the Panasonic Gh4 Raw Files will be supported in Aperture.

No, Apple does not release this kind of information in advance.
There are three to four raw support releases per year, so it may take a few month, until you will be seeing support for that camera. The 4K video may be an added complication.
    G5, Mac OS X (10.4.8)
You'll have to upgrade to Mavericks and Aperture 3.5.1, to be able to profit from new raw support.

  • RAW Support for Panasonic Lumix DMC-G5?

When is the RAW Support for Panasonic Lumix DMC-G5 available?

We don't know - only Apple will know that. This is a User-to-User forum.

  • RAW support for new micro 4/3 Panasonic GF-1

Hi everyone, I've just preordered my copy of the new micro 4/3 Panasonic GF-1! I've sent in my feedback request for the RAW format to be supported by Aperture and thought it would be good to start a thread here to get the popular vote going!
I assume it will be easier than the LX3 since that little camera had serious barrel distortion issues that had to be corrected in the RAW conversion (and doubtless that it was a difficult thing for Aperture to be able to support that). With this camera there are no such issues.

hey..it's been more then 2 years since canon changed their tethering protocol and apple still hasn't gotten around to working out a solution.....but i guess that makes sense since that only afects every canon dslr sold int he last 2 years.....that is not that many....
on the other hand, maybe you should wait for the camera to actually be released and available to ask for raw support? apple is usually the last of the raw converters to support new cameras.....but imo it is always worth the wait....

  • Panasonic tz60 raw not supported in Aperture 3. How to fix?

    can anyone help me?

panasonic tz60 raw not supported in Aperture 3. How to fix?
Aperture's raw support is camera specific. The list of currently supported cameras is here:
Apple - Aperture - Technical Specifications - RAW Support
Apple focusses on cameras, that are most likely used by professionals. Your camera is an excellent camera, and I wish I had it, but so far none of the cameras in the Panasonic Lumix tz-family have been supported in Aperture.  So send feedback to Apple, that you want this camera to be supported.  You can use this form for a feature request:  Apple - Aperture - Feedback
To be able to use your raw files in Aperture, you could try a few work-arounds:
Use the software, that came with your camera, to convert the files to another lossless format, eg. TIFF.
Or do, what I am doing with the raws from my Lumix FZ28 - download the free Adobe DNG converter and convert your RAWS to DNG format:  Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh, I don't know, if that will work for your tz60 files, but give it a try.
If you have hopes, that Apple will support the camera soon, shoot RAW&JPEG for the time being, and work with the JPEGs, until hopefully the raw support will be released.

  • Support for Panasonic GH4 RAW (RW2) Files?

Any word on support for Panasonic GH4 RAW (RW2) files? They load into Aperture (and Photoshop, too) with the dreaded "unsupported image type" alert.

The GH4 comes with a software disc that includes SILKYPIX Developer Studio 4.1 SE for Mac & PC. Installing the software seems to also install the Panasonic Raw 2 Image Plugin. Once the software was installed, I was able to open the RW2 files shot with the GH4 in iPhoto, Lightroom 5 and Preview. After SILKYPIX Developer Studio 4.1 SE is installed, the RW2 preview images also appear in Finder.
I was not able to find the software on the Panasonic web site, so if you are installing on a new Mac without a CD/DVD drive, you'll need to use Remote Disc.

  • RAW SUPPORT FOR PANASONIC FZ38

    RAW SUPPORT FOR PANASONIC FZ38
I have installed the Camera Raw plug-in 5.6 as decribed on the Adobe web site (Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-ins/CS3) manually (version 5.6 09/12/09). Although this RAW is listed on the web site as being with Camera Ra 5.6, the RAW of this Panasonic (RW2) it does not appear within the "Bridge" program listing of associations. The flies CAN NOT be opened in either Bridge OR PhotoElements 6.0
Perhaps it has been left out by error. Help please. Thank you.
To the contary, the RAWS of the Canon 7D work perfectly.
    Help please !

You may need to check you used the correct download for Elements rather than creative suite. To check for the plug-in open Elements - Full Edit and go to Help > About Plug-IN > Camera raw and you should see the version of ACR installed. Your Panasonic needs version 5.6.0.148 If you don’t see it, or you have an earlier version than 5.6, use one of the following links to download ACR.

  • Raw Support for Panasonic LX-5

In trying to keep aware of when raw support might be added for my 2 month old LX-5 I came across an update that someone had referenced from January of this year that added raw support for the LX-5 and some other cameras, when I tried to download it my computer said the latest update on my computer was newer than that. Does that mean I should already have it? If not does anyone know when it will be added? When I first took pictures with my camera I had images saved in raw and j-peg and i photo only recognized the j peg formatted pictures. The j pegs are beautiful but I would like to experiment with raw.

I reply now only to validate my ignorance..
I think what happened is the update that added the lx-5 raw support came out a couple weeks after I got the camera, so I tried it initially and was not able to import raw files and gave up and went to j peg. I tried again this morning after posting, and have been happily dealing with raw files all morning.
Love the camera and am glad i photo will allow me to realize all that it can do!

  • Why no RAW support for the Fuji FinePix HS10?

This camera is well over a year old.  Why is there no support for the RAW file?

It is definitely not only Fuji. I used a Panasonic Lumix FX-150 before that has been supported by Adobe Camera Raw for quite some time now. I replaced that camera by a Lumix LX5, but I see that the FX-150 is still not supported by Apple Camera Raw and probably never will.
If you want wide range RAW support, use Lightroom. (Not to say that Aperture doesn't have its strengths, e.g. support for geocoding.)

  • Why are Panasonic GX7 RAW photos not visible in Aperture but in OS X Mavericks and iPhoto?

My Panasonic GX7 RAW photos seem to be visible in OS X Mavericks and iPhoto, but bizarrely not in Aperture (3.5.1).
Does anyone know why this would be? Any solution greatly appreciated.
I've been unable to mange a significant number of images for almost 7 months now due to Aperture's lack of GX7 RAW support and am seriously considering migrating to Lightroom 5. Aperture has been my workflow application of choice for the last 7 or 8 years, but I feel the current situation has become unacceptable and deeply disappointing .

That camera was supported in digital camera Raw 5.0.1 and Aperture 3.4.5 or later. As you say the files are supported in iPhoto it seems you have the right Raw file.
Have you tried it with new imports in Aperture does it still fail? What if you reprocess the Raw files in Aperture, any change?

  • RAW-support in future?

    Hi,
does Apple give information, which cameras will be supported in future? Or does Apple somewhere has a feature request for this?
    As a Panasonic / Leica fan I would really appreciate RAW-support for e.g. LX2 / D-Lux 3, or L1 / Digilux 3.
    Thanks, Frank

To date Apple has not shared future support. They love secrecy.

  • Panasonic GH4 RAW

I'd like to know when support is coming for the Panasonic GH4? I just received mine yesterday but with no RAW support I can't use this on any jobs...

Dave, there is nothing you can do to make Lightroom read the raw files from the GH4. Adobe has to create their profile for each and every camera model introduced by the camera manufacturers. This can only be done after the camera has been sold in the market, so there is always a wait before an update is released by Adobe for Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw.
The last update was on April 7th 2014 and these are issued approximately every three months. Have a look at the link below to the Lightroom Journal website, this is where info about new things with Lightroom are posted by Adobe officially.

Quote from the last release notes.
Lightroom 5.4 is now available as a final release on Adobe.com and through the update mechanism in Lightroom 5.  The goal of this release is to provide support for Lightroom mobile, additional camera raw support, lens profile support and address bugs that were introduced in previous releases of Lightroom.

  • How can anyone buy new model cameras without RAW support forecasts?

If a person wants to buy a camera and wants to use Aperture, what can they do? I'm sure I want to shoot RAW images, and I'm sure I want to use Aperture, but how does one buy a new model camera when they don't know what drivers Apple is working on adding?
I bought Aperture2 last spring and learned to use it with JPEGs, hoping to use it to shoot RAW images with a newer camera. I've researched cameras and narrowed the field, but when I went to the list of cameras supported by Aperture3, I was horrified. All of the cameras I chose shoot RAW, but almost none are supported in RAW yet, and there seems to be no evidence that they will. I've worked kind of hard, partly learning Aperture, partly researching RAW cameras, and now I'm kind of in shock.
For example, the Canon t2 just came out - the t1 is covered, but how long until the t2 will be supported? Many of the top bridge cameras I'm considering also appear to be missing from the new Aperture3 list - like the the Sony DSC-HX1, the Panasonic Lumix FX35, and the Fuji S200EXR.
I appreciate the RAW support for familiar models, and I appreciate the DNG conversion connection thing - that helps. But what if Apple never comes out with RAW for my new camera after I've committed to it? Adobe Lightroom RAW support list looks a little longer, but is still not much for new bridge cameras. Why should Apple try to keep pace with Adobe, anyway? Why not have an insanely great list of RAW support? Is it that hard to configure devices before they come out?
I could use some reassurance here.

Thank you all for your insightful feedback.

Ultimately, I bought a camera that I liked better than any in my price range ($500 or less) that shoots RAW, and is already on Apple's list -- a Canon G11. I want to get a good DSLR later when I can afford one, and then my G11 will make a superb and sturdy "pocketable" camera. The G11's flexible features are already helping me to learn not only about shooting RAW, but about photography in general. The pictures are gorgeous.
I'm using my new camera with Aperture 3, and it's great. I think iPhoto is good for many people, but for those like me who want to do more with their photos, and need a more sophisticated work flow - well, there's not much comparison between them for these purposes, even though they share so many features now (faces, places, et al).
    I also wrote:

Well, Apple got the EOS t2i raw converters into Aperture faster than I could get this post up. They were very, very quick. The more I learn, the more I see how many mainstream cameras Apple does support, and the more I appreciate the problem of supporting new cameras that Apple faces. But I still hope they keep facing it, and don't let up.
Clearly, there are always interesting cameras coming that may never be supported, and being able to handle RAW images outside Aperture may be some people's reasonable choice.
I came very close to buying several cameras that were unsupported or didn't shoot RAW at all. But I've already seen RAW save my pictures. I accidentally took a group of important photos with no white balance at all (they're pale green). Fortunately, I was shooting JPEG+RAW. The JPEGs are nearly useless, but the RAW photo's adjusted quickly to "just right".
Knowing I can make certain non-destructive edits with RAW files is very liberating. I know if I make a mistake or want to change the image, that there are a few vital parameters I can adjust.
As to my camera selection: I chose the G11 because so many people with real photography experience seemed to respect it so much. In the end, I decided that good image quality was more important than pixels, zoom range, etc. Since I decided to wait to get a DSLR, I wanted a versatile point-and-shoot with a retractable lens that would become, as I said, my second, more portable camera later.
I've experienced the companion Canon software now as well. It's fine, but I like organizing my photos in Aperture better. I especially need stacks, and being able to make major adjustments where I keep my photos is vital to me.
Now, Aperture is working well for me, and the experience is turning out far better than I had expected. I'm now loading directly into Aperture instead of referencing iPhoto, I'm handling raw images from a new, more modern camera, and I'm finally feeling settled and comfortable with my image workflow.
