Panasonic gh2 raw now subtle pink?

So the recent update has fixed the obvious vivid green darkening of gh2 raw files. Hurrah!
Except that the images, whilst vastly improved, now have a slight pink cast compared to the in-camera jpegs and to files developed into tiffs using the Silkypix program supplied with the camera. And initial views suggest that the Silkypix images are generally superior - both sharper and less noisy - although I haven't spent time fine tuning the raw settings in Aperture yet. Of course, having to use Silkypix is annoying as it wastes time and disc space and I lose all my image metadata.
Before sending a bug report I thought I would ask if anyone else is experiencing this problem or if they feel that their gh2 raw images are now acceptable. It would be great to hear from anyone who has both aperture & adobe raw and can make a comparison between their processing.

Same problem with the latest RAW update (3.6). Instead of being greenish now it's reddish.
The treatment of Panasonic GH2's RAW file is not good as it should. Unfortunately, I will have to continue to use SilkyPix to deal with RW2 RAW files instead of Aperture.
Apple need to work a little bit more to fix the problem

  • Panasonic GH2 RAW files go deep green with latest update

I updated my machine yesterday for the RAW updates. There is an issue here as far as I can tell with the Panasonic GH2 precessing. GH2 RAW files thumbnails look fine but Aperture, iPhoto and Preview all show a dark deep green image. Silkypix shows the correct image from the same file.
    Is anyone else seeing this?

Same issue here. Have posted to Aperture feedback and included a link to an example. I was shooting raw + jpeg until the camera became supported, so it's very blatant the raw processing isn't working. I tried using a range of camera settings to see if some of the intelligent DR features were tripping it up, but always the same result, even with all the advanced features all turned off.
What would be interesting is to hear if anyone is NOT experiencing this problem with GH2 raws.

  • Panasonic GH2 Raw hot spots/dead pixels trouble

    Hi,
Like explaining in this link , I have bright green spots on my picture in Lightroom.
My old camera Panasonic G1 didn't have this problem.
How these spots is removed by Adobe raw processing ?
Is it a problem with the raw file from my camera (something wrong or missing inside) or a problem with Adobe raw processing for this file ?

    Hi,
As this is a User forum, Adobe are not guaranteed to see this post (although they DO look through from time to time).
    I suggest you raise this with Adobe directly, submitting a bug report for at the following address;

  • Why are Panasonic GX7 RAW photos not visible in Aperture but in OS X Mavericks and iPhoto?

My Panasonic GX7 RAW photos seem to be visible in OS X Mavericks and iPhoto, but bizarrely not in Aperture (3.5.1).
Does anyone know why this would be? Any solution greatly appreciated.
I've been unable to mange a significant number of images for almost 7 months now due to Aperture's lack of GX7 RAW support and am seriously considering migrating to Lightroom 5. Aperture has been my workflow application of choice for the last 7 or 8 years, but I feel the current situation has become unacceptable and deeply disappointing .

That camera was supported in digital camera Raw 5.0.1 and Aperture 3.4.5 or later. As you say the files are supported in iPhoto it seems you have the right Raw file.
Have you tried it with new imports in Aperture does it still fail? What if you reprocess the Raw files in Aperture, any change?

  • Panasonic GH2 video files not compatible

iMovie (and Final Cut) cannot import the mts video files from the latest video cam by Panasonic the GH2
BTW: RAW photos also dont import in iPhoto..
Apple is not ready for the GH2 yet.... Hoping for an update soon

    hello
If it's not too late, I found a solution to import 24 P movies from a Panasonic GH2 Full HD to my macintosh.
you only need a software which is called "ClipWrap" It is very easy to use and it transform your MTS files in apple Prores files that your mac can read. (precisely, my Final cut pro, beacause for I Movie, I really don't care)
    have a good day.

  • IPhoto update failed with my Panasonic GH1 raw file.

I just installed the new package for Panasonic GH1 raw support for iPhoto 09 but it did not work. It did not recognize or allow an import of my raw file from the Panasonic.

Did you run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions after installing the update? Also backup and launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed to rebuild the library. Select the last three options.
    Now try again.

  • Panasonic gh2 compatable with mac

anyone know mac compatibility issues with panasonic GH2 cameras?  one problem i've encountered, after shooting yesterday for the 1st time, is that there is a horrible green cast and choked up shadows with files in iphoto.

    1. What version of iPhoto?
    2. You shooting Raw or Jpeg?

  • Panasonic GH2 and Final Cut Express?

Does anyone have any experience in importing into Final Cut Express with a Panasonic GH2? I have about $1000 to spend on a new camera for work and the camera was recommended to me but not by someone who uses FCE. I have been using a Canon Vixia SR 20 smoothly with FCE, but now have a chance to purchase a new camera for video.
I am also wondering if it is a good choice should I eventually move to Final Cut Pro X. I have seen some of the forum talk about this camera and some issues it has with FCP X, but right now am looking to find someone who has used it successfully with FCE. Or a simillarly powerful camera recommendation in that range with a proven FCE track record also welcome. Thanks!
    Douglas

I use the same camera and it works for me. Make sure you are using the log and transfer function, in FCE, and not the log and capture. I am not sure what other advice to give other than to confirm FCE4 and the SD5 do play nice together, at least for me. I will say I have only used the SD card media with it so if your using a disc maybe it may be a different story -- I don't know.
Edit: Sorry I misspoke my camera is the SX5 -- from everything I understand and have read, however, it is functionally identical to the SD5. The difference being the SD5 only works with SD cards where this one has the option to record to mini DVDs.

  • I recently upgraded to 0S 10.6.8 on mab pro and now have pink lines around the desktop borders. A horrible red colour appears in the background of the screen saver, and in parts of Safari and other applications including MS Office. please help

I recently upgraded my Macbook Pro to SL OS 10.6.8 and now have pink lines around the desktop borders and some menus. There is also a horrible red colour that appears in the background of photobooth and parts of Safari. The screen saver looks like an alien life form with red in the background. There are odd translucent colours in the background of other applications including MS Office. It looks like a horrible psychedilic trip from the 60's. I ran the upgrade again but nothing changed. Can you help?

Backup your files off the computer (not TimeMachine) and disconnect.
Hold c boot off the 10.6 disk, under the Utilities menu > Disk Utiltiy > Repair Disk, and Repair Permissions
(quit and stop if Disk Repair (only) issues a failure and notify us)
Quit and install 10.6 again, reboot and Software Update again,  this time download it and then run it. Check Software Update until clear.
c boot off the 10.6 disk and use Disk Utility >Repair Disk again (fixes a bug)
Reboot and check any installed programs, some may not function who have installed kext files into OS X, those need to be reinstalled.
You didn't mention if you upgraded from 10.5 or 10.6.7, the above steps are for fixing a 10.6 to 10.6.8
If you upgraded from 10.5, you should erase the drive in Disk Utility first, then install 10.6 fresh, but then all your programs will have to be reinstalled or updated from original sources.
Also the 10.6.3 upgrade disk has no free iLife, but you can install 10.5 fresh then upgrade to 10.6.3, then to 10.6.8 and then all new programs and that will give free iLife that came on the factory 10.5 disks.
You also can use Pacifist to extract iLife from 10.5 disks.

  • Panasonic Gh4 Raw file support

Any idea as to when the Panasonic Gh4 Raw Files will be supported in Aperture.

No, Apple does not release this kind of information in advance.
There are three to four raw support releases per year, so it may take a few month, until you will be seeing support for that camera. The 4K video may be an added complication.
    G5, Mac OS X (10.4.8)
You'll have to upgrade to Mavericks and Aperture 3.5.1, to be able to profit from new raw support.

  • Panasonic LX5 RAW not importing into iPhoto 09

I cannot import RAW photos taken with my Panasonic LX5. I assume that they are not supported yet. If i upgrade to iPhoto '11, will it support panasonic LX5 RAW?
When I search iPhoto help to see what camera's RAW files are compatible with iPhoto, I am redirected to Aperture 3's RAW compatibility listing. The help page says that the compatibility is the same for both Aperture and iPhoto and that listing says that Panasonic's LX5 is supported; however, there is a footnote that says Aperture 3 is required. Based on the fact that my RAW files won't open in iPhoto 09, it seems that the compatibility is not the same for iPhoto and Aperture.
I would much rather continue using iPhoto; so before I upgrade to iPhoto 11 or purchase Aperture 3, I would like to get a straight answer about iPhoto 11 supporting LX5's RAW.

It can't be done anywhere if you shoot Raw.
The workflow in your camera is as follows
Step 1: Take the shot -  this creates the Raw. The Raw is the data from the camera sensor and by definition this has no processing done on it.
Step 2: Process the Raw using the settings you have chosen and save it. That's saved as a Jpeg.
The Raw is what happens before processing. After processing it's not a Raw anymore.
The point of shooting Raw is that you decide what - and how - the effects are applied to the data, not the Camera. If you want the camera to do it, why are you shooting Raw?

  • Panasonic tz60 raw not supported in Aperture 3. How to fix?

    can anyone help me?

panasonic tz60 raw not supported in Aperture 3. How to fix?
Aperture's raw support is camera specific. The list of currently supported cameras is here:
Apple - Aperture - Technical Specifications - RAW Support
Apple focusses on cameras, that are most likely used by professionals. Your camera is an excellent camera, and I wish I had it, but so far none of the cameras in the Panasonic Lumix tz-family have been supported in Aperture.  So send feedback to Apple, that you want this camera to be supported.  You can use this form for a feature request:  Apple - Aperture - Feedback
To be able to use your raw files in Aperture, you could try a few work-arounds:
Use the software, that came with your camera, to convert the files to another lossless format, eg. TIFF.
Or do, what I am doing with the raws from my Lumix FZ28 - download the free Adobe DNG converter and convert your RAWS to DNG format:  Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh, I don't know, if that will work for your tz60 files, but give it a try.
If you have hopes, that Apple will support the camera soon, shoot RAW&JPEG for the time being, and work with the JPEGs, until hopefully the raw support will be released.

  • Support for Panasonic GH4 RAW (RW2) Files?

Any word on support for Panasonic GH4 RAW (RW2) files? They load into Aperture (and Photoshop, too) with the dreaded "unsupported image type" alert.

The GH4 comes with a software disc that includes SILKYPIX Developer Studio 4.1 SE for Mac & PC. Installing the software seems to also install the Panasonic Raw 2 Image Plugin. Once the software was installed, I was able to open the RW2 files shot with the GH4 in iPhoto, Lightroom 5 and Preview. After SILKYPIX Developer Studio 4.1 SE is installed, the RW2 preview images also appear in Finder.
I was not able to find the software on the Panasonic web site, so if you are installing on a new Mac without a CD/DVD drive, you'll need to use Remote Disc.

  • HT4757 RAWs appear blue/pink-ish in Preview, Apercu and Aperture

Since the last update, my Nikon D7000's RAWs appear blue/pink-ish in Preview, Apercu and Aperture (stil normal in Photoshop/Lightroom/ViewNX). I need to use Aperture, how do I go back to the previous version? Where does the problem come from?
When I import the files, they first appear with regular color (from the thumbnail I presume), and when processed are all violet/pink/blue. I did not change the presets, and imported with with different/no filter.

Since the last CameraRaw update (4.08) released a few days ago there have been a lot of reports similar to your's
See My 2012 iMac is on acid NEF files stopped being displayed on iPhoto and Preview, and all pictures are turning red in my library for examples.
The fix, until Apple releases an update, is to roll back the RawCAmera bundle to 4.07. See the above posts for directions.
