Panasonic GS500 - will this EVER be compatible?

Hi,
I've been reading some [old] threads where people have not been able to connect their Panasonic GS500 mini-DV camcorders. I have tried various suggestions regarding the order of turning things on and connecting firewire cables, etc, to no avail.
I have also written to iMovie feedback to request that their next update allows for compatability to this camcorder.
Does anyone know whether this feedback will actually be considered?? I was converted to Apple and bought the iMac recently because i was "sold" on its superior video editing capabilities - but BOOO, I cannot even use this functionality!
If anyone has some suggestions, or tips, that would be helpful.
I have updated to Lion and updated iMovie software today.

That is the correct cable for an 800 port.
Under the Apple menu choose "About This Mac".
Click "System Report" button to launch System Information.
Look under the Hardware and click FireWire.
Is your camera connected?

  • Will this ever happen

will Apple ever make it so us canadians can get movies and tv on our ipod's because not being able to do this makes me angry at america for getting better things then canada

From experience in the electronics industry it is easier to get approval for new products in the United States. My company could get the FCC approval twice as fast as some countries and other countries would not even consider it for their country until it was approved in the USA first. Goofy but true.

  • Will this memory be compatible with my macbook pro?

Hi, I am in need of a good ram for my MacBook Pro (2011, 2.3 i5)
I've checked amazon and saw this.
    http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-DDR3-Laptop-Memory-CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9/dp/tech-data/ B002YUF8ZG/ref=de_a_smtd
Will this be compatible with my mac?

RAM has specifications, you need to carefully match the specifications exactly and buy your RAM from a reliable source as to get the highest quality.
Just like most Merceedes only take high grade fuel, a Mac only prefers high quality RAM.
It's rather risky opening a Mac, damage to the screws and other things can occur on some models, so to reduce this possibility (and having to ship bad RAM back) you should choose a highly reliable vendor with tested top tier RAM.
You should also know exactly how to take the right steps to install RAM, wear anti-static protection, disconnect the power and other measures to safely install your RAM correctly the first time!
Many people buy RAM without realizing there is a slot limitation.
If they have 1.5 GB and two slots, they foolishly buy another 512MB RAM module to try to attain 2GB, when they actually need another 1GB module.
So with that I give you a link, I get no compensation, just use their "evaluator" to make sure you get the RIGHT RAM for your make and model of machine. If you don't want to buy from them that's perfectly fine, just get the right specs right the first time.

  • Will this camera be compatible?

Hi. I've seen a list that lists all the devices compatible with macs but now I can't find it. My friend is going overseas and wants to buy a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 with 10x optical zoom and she has just gotten an imac. She wants to be CERTAIN if she bought this camera it would work with the imac. Can anyone help me finding an answer for her?
    Many thanks

    Hi Jenny,
The purchase of an SD card and reader will sort it out for sure, even if the direct USB connection doesn't.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Notebook - Will this be Vista compatible?

Hi all, just popping in to ask a quick question. This is not a flame, nor is it meant to be anything other then a sincere question. Will the Creative Labs Audigy 2 ZS Notebook PCMCIA sound card be Vista compatible at some point? No need to tell me the date it's due or anything like that. Just wondering if, when Creative Labs releases their final Vista drivers, the ZS notebook sound card will be included in the list of supported cards.
    Thanks.

Ok it works, but you only get 2.1 instead of 7.1 ..... i hop creative guys hurry up because even the latest version of the drivers for vista doesn t work.
It isn't a driver problem, but your system/configuration! Make sure you have enabled the "CMSS" option in the CMSS-3D tab, if you have 7.1 speakers. Also make sure, you select 7.1 speakers in both AudioConsole and the Windows Sound/Multimedia properties. Microsoft does not allow for these changes to be made by an external program (like in Windows XP). You can also use Windows' built-in mixer to check the individual volumes of each speaker, like you did with Surround Mixer in XP.

  • Firefox Beta 4 does not seem to be supported on my iBook G4 architecture, will this ever be supported, or do I need to leave Mozilla?

This will be a make or break feature for me, I do not intend to abandon my Power PC based Mac machines, so need a browser that is supported on them, and also provides at least minimal support for my Microsoft based PC (kept for those few applications that will not run on the Mac OS X systems).

Firefox 4 will require an Intel Mac. There is a third-party version being developed that will work on PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/

  • Will this SSHD be compatible?

Can someone tell me if this Seagate 1TB SSHD will be compatable with my Toshiba Satellite C55-B5200http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Laptop-2-5-Inch-Internal-ST1000LM014/dp/B00B99JUBQ/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?ie=UTF8&dpID=41KZiQtN93L&dpPl=1&keywords=laptop%20hdd&pi=AC_SY200_QL40&qid=1437945495&ref=plSrch&ref_=mp_s_a_1_2&sr=8-2

It should.  Just make sure that the new drive (9.5 mm thick) is same or less than the oem hdd.  not sure how much extra room they give you if any.

  • Noise Reduction is a PITA! Will this ever get easier?

One of the things (and there are many) that I like about LR is the
non-desctrcutive nature of the changes it makes. Recently I had a couple a
hundred shots where I had to use ISO 1600-3200. The LR noise reduction can
not hold a candle to the 3rd party tools. I use Noise Ninja myself. In order
to make sure that I had the best image to work from I had to export from LR
as a PSD in 16 bit and then run NN on the PSD file. The resultant PSD file
is 4 times larger than the DNG in LR. I now also have to deal with 2 files.
I remember reading about an SDK for LR that should allow NN and others to do
this in the same way that LR does its edits in a non destructive fashion.
Is there any progress on this front?
    Does DxO 5 offer this?
The current way is really akward.

    L. Little,
I haven't lost all hope that Adobe will get more into this. Raw Shooter Pro did not have near the issues with NR that LR has, had some nice pre-processing aspects for Noise (you can set up similar things under LR), and did not seem to create the issues frequently seen in LR especially with High ISO. Hopefully Adobe can pull more of that into the product. I think, from some of the readings on forums, that the whole NR engine in LR was a new redesign, maybe this is a case of "if it isn't broken, don't fix it" at play, with that comes a desire to make whatever the new design is work.. so I guess we'll have to see if the refinements keep coming. I don't think they can ignore all the complaints from people.
The possibility of 3rd party tools linked in from the folks at Noise Ninja, Neat Image, etc. is also something to look forward to. For high ISO images, I tend to let NR tools in CS3 handle the exported JPG after I've done any other adjustments, as opposed to sending it out via conversion, and bringing it back into LR.

  • HT3669 I can no longer scan directly from Adobe applications.  Will this ever be fixed?

I used to be able to scan directly from my C6100 HP printer scanner, but with the upgrade to Lion it is no longer possible.  HP indicates you have to scan from preferences and select the scanner.
I have scanned documente succesfully from a Brother wireless printer, but not from the HPs

Why do folks feel this is an absolute necessity? Just scan the image to a folder, then open it in Photoshop. There's no need for it to open directly into PS.

  • Rented a movie and it take 60 minutes to download, will this ever be fix or am I doing something wrong?

Every time I rent a movie on my new apple tv it always take 1 hour to down load, am I doing something wrong? can this issue be fixed?

You need a faster internet connection. After I upgraded to a 6 meg connection that probelm went away.
How fast is your internet connection?

  • Will I ever be able to open a PDF on my iPad that is created by Adobe LiveCycle Designer.

  • Multiple midi ports....When will this happen?!

So frustrating that there is still no multiple midi ports yet. I've been a long time user and am considering switching to Cubase because of this as I can not use Logic with VE Pro the way it is intended to be used. Will this ever be an option? Kind of defeats the whole purpose of VE Pro to have to open up multiple instances in Logic.

I agree. Logic Physical Input supports Multiple Ports however the Sequencer does not. The Logic Sequencer is limited to record up to 16 MIDI Channels coming from Any Port. The alternative is to direct cable the Physical Input Ports to Channel Splitters in the Environment and wire them to different Channel Strips. In this scenario you can wire up to say 256 Instruments cabled from different Physical MIDI Ports. If you want to Mixdown the incoming MIDI Ports you have to bounce in real time.

  • Will Apple ever upgrade Keynote 6 to be as good as Keynote 5.3?

I am still waiting for the lost features of Keynote 5.3 to be added to Keynote 6.  For example the ability to customize the presenter display.  Will this ever happen?

Presenter Screen is adjustable now, whether Apple decide to provide further controls is as usual kept a secret:

  • Will Exchange ever support sending mail from a secondary smtp address?

Most here probably know this but a quick recap:
User has PrimarySMTP address of [email protected] and secondary SMTP of
[email protected] In Outlook, if you set the secondary SMTP address in the "From" field, Exchange will throw an "undeliverable" error stating you're not authorized to send mail as
    this user. I know there's
3rd party tools that can help you with this, and ways to circumvent this (using extra accounts or distrigroups) but it's actually really annoying. I've been involved with a lot of companies with different brands (and a domain for each brand) and
who want to communicate with the outside world using these different brandnames. One salesmanager could be involved with different brands and right now you'll have to create a new account or group for each and every brand/domainname.
With every new Exchange one of the first things I check if this behaviour has changed.. Will this ever be implemented? Is there anyone here that could shed some light on that? Is there a reason why this does not change?
    Kind regards,
    Remco Roxs
