Panasonic HDTV doesn't show MBP's Display?

Hello,
Today, I went to best buy to get a belkin mini display port to HDMI adapter and an HDMI-to-HDMI cable to connect to my panasonic viera plasma tv in order to watch Youtube videos... However, when I came home, and found the HDMI 3 input on the side of the tv (I can't connect it to the first one since it's wall-mounted) ... so I plugged everything in properly...and voila, nothing happens.
Can someone please tell me what's going on with this?
I need this for my grandma, as she wants to watch some soap operas.
All the help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Try
Plug it in first switch on TV, so Macbook will reconise it. In System Preferences,Display etc
then select Arrangement, then tick mirror display. then go back and go into Sound, select Output and tick HDMI cable.? This will get your icons onto your TV and Sound

  • T430 DisplayPort doesn't show pre-boot display

We have T430's (and X230's for that matter) connected to L2251x's via a Mini Dock Plus 3.
We also have McAfee SafeBoot installed, which has a pre-boot password prompt before hitting the Windows 7 OS. No matter what we do, we cannot output this pre-boot screen to the monitors when the laptop is docked with the lid closed.
I have tried looking around the nVidia control panel but found nothing. I've also tried changing the BIOS settings to use discrete graphics instead of nVidia but that breaks the resolution and Aero features.
Anyone else had this issue? Is there a solution?

The T430s I used to have drove all external LCD panels off the Intel HD 4000 GPU.  Therefore, the BIOS setting had to be Integrated or Optimus.  In additon to the display setting, while docked you should be able to specify which port receives the POST messages.
My W530 is different.  The Discrete setting is required to see POST messages on an external LCD panel.

Did you follow the steps exactly in order to restore? disconnect all cables, open iTunes, then connect micro usb

Make sure to connect directly to computer, not a keyboard port or USB hub. Try a different cable.

  • Follow on document display doesn't show any PO no. for Service SC

    Hi,
We are using SRM 4.0 with extended classic scenario & currently on support pack 7.
Follow On document display in SC doesn't show PO no.
This Problem seems to be happening only for "Request external staff  SC" & "Order SC" functionality ( BBPSC03)  while ordering services. Link between SC & follow on document (PO) goes missing even though PO is properly created in SRM system ( being a Extended classic scenario) & also  PO copy is available in R/3.
Service SC looks okay if we order it through "internal goods/Service", Describe requirement or through catalogue application.
any help is appreciated & rewarded with full points.

  • Firefox doesn't show/display my addressbook within my hotmail account anymore. Cookies/Cashe has been emptied already, result is the same.

Firefox doesn't show/display/load my addressbook within my hotmail account anymore, it worked previously well, so has nothing to do with the change from hotmail to outlook. Since a week or so, I realized a slowness in loading my recently used addresses with opening a new e-mail, but it was still working from time to time. For a few days, it has been stopped working, complete addressbook doesn't load anymore, just displays the load circle in the middle of the screen, apart from that I have only a white page. Cache and Cookies already emptied/deleted, result is the same. No settings have been changed, but have the same issue with Internet Explorer, but it's working with Chrome. For testing, I deactivated my firewall and anti virus (Comodo), but the result was still the same. I would appreciate if I could get it working again here. Every suggestion is welcome here

Same thing when the sound is off, it doesn't show any more an image with a red line... I hope you understand what i'm talking about.

    Hi Konstantina,
That could well be the problem; try the following.
Download and install HP MediaSmart Music on the link below.

    Hi,
    Open a Finder  window
Go to the View Menu and chose "Show Path Bar"
This will show the way to the folders and files you navigate to.
In the Finder still, use the Go Menu whilst holding down the ALT key
    Select the Library that appears
    Navigate to the Preferences Folder.
Now Right click the Library in the Path Bar.
    Choose Get Info.
In the panel that opens up check the Ownership and Permissions section
highlight your Name and then use the cogwheel type icon.
Your shortname should appear in a sentence that reads "Make Shortname (me) the Owner" but it should be greyed out if you already Own the folder.
Your name in the list should have Read and Write Permissions.
Do you have Read and Write Permissions an Own the Library folder ?
    Repeat for the Preferences Folder.
Repeat for a file in the Preferences folder called  com.apple.ichat.plist (just highlight the file and then do CMD + i keys (Get Info))
Basically to be able to change a Preference you need permission to Write to the file involved.
However you also need Read and Write permissions to the containing folders.
If it is not sticking then it would seem you do not have those.

  • Resolution jumps with Panasonic HDTV

Since buying my Mac mini in December 09 I've been using a Panasonic HDTV (TX-L37G15B) as my monitor. With the Mini DisplayPort-DVI adaptor and then a DVI-HDMI cable into the TV everything was set up in perfect HD. The Mac detected the TV and chose 1080p without needing to adjust anything.
Since the 2009 Aluminium Keyboard Firmware Update on 13/02/2010 my Mac will no longer hold it's resolution. Without warning it will jump to an alternate resolution but still show 1080p in the Display Settings.
I can change the resolution to another and back to 1080p and it will hold for a short time and then once again jumps/stretches to the wrong size. Overscan is turned off and I've tried setting the resolution in Safe Mode with little affect.
Would using the Mini DVI Port help matters?
    Any info would help, thanks,
    Chris

Try a couple of troubleshooting things.
Repair the Disk Permissions with Disk Utility in Apps/Utilities. Highlight your startup volume to the left and in the First Aid pane to the right press the Repair Permissions button.
Reset PRAM. Restart your Mac with a wired USB keyboard attached and immediately press & hold the CommandOption+PR keys. After you hear a second startup chime release all of the keys and let the Mac start normally.

  • MacBook Pro does not sense external monitor (Panasonic HDTV in my case) via thunderbolt-HDMI connection...Is update 10.8.3 helping anyone?

My MacBook Pro (newest model in 2013 so far) does not sense external monitor (Panasonic HDTV in my case) via thunderbolt-HDMI connection...Is update 10.8.3 helping anyone else who has this issue? I returned my multiple HDMI adapters after figuring out it had to be an Apple issue n not the adapters so I can't check it myself now.
    Thanks!

I have late 2012 MBP 13" and connect to my Panasonic Plasma correctly.
But using the same cable, can't connect to an LG 47LM6200, the MBP detects the TV, the screen blinks blue, but the TV shows "no sinal detected" message.

  • Menus and Fonts too small with Panasonic HDTV

I just hooked up a new Mini (Intel chip) to my Panasonic HDTV-- 34" Model No. CT-34WX53-- using a DVI cable. The desktop shows up fine, but the menus and fonts are so tiny that I can't read them. When I try using Front Row, the pictures and vide are gorgeous and the fonts in Front Row are fine. It's just the fonts and menus in on the desktop and in other programs that are too small. Does anyone know how to fix?

    Edward,
That's the price of having a gazillion pixels!
You have two options - send less pixels to the display or change each application (Including the finder) to show larger fonts and icons.
The lower the resolution option is easy and fast. The downside of "zoom"-ing the display is it may look blocky at certain resolutions and the fonts and fine details in photos and movies may be lost if the mac has to alias or scale the video. If you do this - you might want to enable the menu bar item for display preferences to quickly switch between the setting you prefer. I use one setting for actually using the mac and another setting for playing movies and showing slides in FrontRow.
The change the preferences to make the fonts and icons larger is more of a pain but yields the most crisp display and you don't have to change things up. I would start with Finder Preferences (select an icon on your desktop and on the View menu - show view options - crank up the icon size and font size.) Unfortunately - you have to do this in each application you use. It also won't change the menu font sizes - you might need an "extension" from a developer to change that.

  • Mail 5.2 doesn't show html/attachments in Lion 10.7.3

I recently upgraded to Lion from Snow Leopard.
The problem is that Mail version 5.2 (1257) doesn't show html content or attachments. Even Apple's own templates from the application itself doesn't show correctly.
I've made sure that the "show remote html content in the Preferences is checked.
I've also tried to rebuild the mailboxes without any changes. Html-content and pictures stil doesn't show.
    How can I fix this?
Is there a command for the Terminal that can fix this?
    MBP 15" 2.2 GHz (10.7.2) 4GB RAM

    Step 1
Mail ▹ Preferences ▹ Viewing ▹ Display remote images in HTML messages: check
    Step 2
If you still have the issue, back up all data before proceeding further. Whatever happens, you must be able to restore your system to the state it's in now.
    Quit Mail if it’s running.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Drag or copy – do not type – the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    defaults delete com.apple.mail PreferPlainText
Quit Terminal. Launch Mail and test.

  • GFX card doesn't show up in Premiere Pro CS3

I'm quite a noob regarding this, so excuse my ignorance..
I've got a Nvidia GTS250 card that I want to connect via DVi - HDMI, to a HDTV for playback.
The problem is that the card doesn't show up in Premiere (in playback setting).
Does the card not support Premiere Pro? Do I need a bigger/better card to do this?
    This is on Windows 7.
PS - I'm planning to upgrade to CS5.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

That's the best you can do without a dedicated 3rd-party video card like Aja or BlackMagic.
Set up a custom workspace in Pr that resizes the Program Monitor to fill the whole second display.

    Hi [Mac]gaman,
Do you have access to a flashlight? What if you take a flashlight and shine it directly at your screen. Can you make out anything? If so, we're potentially dealing with an inverter board issue (that's what controls the backlight). If there's no activity on the screen at all, it's possibly an issue with the LCD panel or the cable that communicates between the logic board and the LCD panel (LVDS cable). Do you have access to external monitor that you can hook the computer up to for testing? I'd be curious if you get a picture.
You can resetting the SMC & PRAM, see if that changes anything. Otherwise, the next step would be to arrange service on the unit. Is it still under warranty?

  • Screen real-estate on the 15" MBP Retina display

The 15" MacBook Pro Retina Display has a remarkable 2880x1800 pixel resolution, compared to the 27" LED display's 2560x1440. Normally, screen real-estate is defined as how much stuff (windows, menu bar items, bookmark lists, etc) you can fit on the screen, with a larger (that is, more pixels) screen being able to show more stuff using its native resolution.
With the MBP's Retina display, the pixels are so small that using its native resolution in the same way as with the 27" monitor should result in, say, really small menu bar items, etc. As a result, the default monitor setting involves scaling, so that something which might normally take up one pixel might get four or eight devoted to it, making it larger and easier to see. Its monitor control panel allows changing that relationship so that everything could be made to appear even larger, resulting in less screen real-estate, or smaller, resulting in more screen real-estate; i.e., lots more stuff can fit on the screen.
My question is whether, at the smallest setting offered, the screen real-estate is the equivalent of, say, a 32" monitor which also has 2880x1800 pixel resolution but is spread over a much smaller physical area, or is the Retina's display still scaled to some smaller equivalent resolution because straight 1 to 1 would simply be too small to be practical? If that's the case, what does the effective resolution work out to be at the smallest setting?
I'm aware that's not a simple question because, for example, I understand that an HD Movie could be displayed pixel for pixel even if everything else outside that window is scaled. Moreover, the use of vector graphics complicates the matter further. But for things like menu lists and word processing documents, can the MBP's Retina display be set to what we understand to be 1 to 1?

    joshcali wrote:
    actually.... it doesn't.
the 1920 is simulated, and apple doesn't recommend it.
Apple doesn't offer the option of full resolution (2880x1800) and says everything other than 1440 x 900 won't look as good as 1440x900.
so while you can set the monitor to 17" resolution (1920x1080) it has to simulate it on a 2880x900 screen and has to blur and reinterpolate elements to make it work
they've really messed it up for anyone wanting true HD resolution for professional reasons.
Indeed. Everything except 2880x1800, which is unavailable without SwitchResX, and 1440x900, which comfortably fits one pixel of the image into a four pixel square of the Retina Display, must be simulated or scaled. However, while the scaling is real, the 17" "simulation" looks as good, to my eye at least, as my wife's MBP 17". Going smaller will test one's eyes probably as much as Apple's scaling algorithms so the tradeoff for greater screen real-estate may turn out not to be as bad as we'd think. All I need is a MBP Retina Display and SwitchResX to find out...

  • MBP retina display wallpaper problem

I just bought the MBP retina display and somehow the OS doesn't save my wallpaper. It will go to the default Mac wallpaper whenever i restart my computer. Is there a way to solve this?

Alright no worries, I felt it was worth while looking at, although the unit is 4 days old in your hands, the software was likely installed longer than that, at the distribution centre.
The next step we would likely do, is remove the com.apple.desktop.plist file to the desktop itself, this will encourage the operating system when restarted (or logged out) to regenerate a new file in its place.
Although this is such an evasive step, and should cause no problems, since it is a user specific file, I do feel the need to tell you to backup any data first, and make sure you have everything covered before proceeding.
I would expect nothing to go wrong in this process, honestly , but whenever a solution comes down to replacing files the operating system has in place, its worth covering.  If you are satisfied you have everything backed up, and wish to proceed,  the next steps are as follows:
    1) Open up a finder window, you can do this by clicking the square face symbol on your dock (half dark blue, half light blue).  You should have a finder menu bar running across the top of your screen, and 'Go' should be listed.
    2) Select 'Go' and this will drop down a list of places your system can go to.  Hold down the Option (alt) key on your keyboard and this will show the hidden 'library' in your drop down list. Select library.
    3) The finder window will now show the contents of your user library.  Find a folder called preferences in that folder and go into it.
    4) You will now see many com.apple.xxxx.plist files.  Find a file or files beginning in com.apple.desktop (com.apple.desktop.plist is the common one, but sometimes there is com.apple.desktop lockfiles also) and drag them to the desktop itself, make sure the files are actually moved to the desktop and not just copied.
    5) Once the files are moved to the desktop, and no longer exist in your preferences folder, restart the computer, and try again.  The computer at this point would have generated replacement files.
