Panasonic NV-GS300 und iMovie

Hallo,

For a start you need a FireWire cable with a 4 pin connector for the camera and a suitable connector for the socket in your MBP, which could be a FW400 (6 pin) or FW800 (9 pin).

  • Transferring video from Panasonic NV-GS300 to imovie

We have hours of video footage on tape from our Panasonic NV-GS300 video camera but have no idea how to transfer it to our Mac Book Pro. I would be grateful for advice on what cables/leads I need and how I actually make the transfer - if it is possible. Many thanks in anticipation.

  • Camcorder Panasonic PV-GS300: "Communication Error" when connecting it..?

I have a Panasonic PV-GS300 camcorder, which I have connected to my iMac through a Firewire 4/9pin, but all I get when opening iMovie is "Communication Error" on a blue screen. I believe the Mac does not recognize the camera and I can not import the video images.
Any advice? Do I need a special driver to be able to use my camcorder for my mac and if so where can I download it?
    New Mac user here.

Try these steps in this order.
Connect the camera to the Mac with the firewire cable.
Power up the camera and make sure it is in VCR mode.
Power up the Mac. At this stage when Mac fires up you should be able to see the camera recognized in the System Profiler of Mac as part of the firewire tree. If not then there is a basic connection problem somewhere. If YES:
    Open iMovie and capture.
If you use Final Cut, the Easy Setup needs to be configured to match your incoming footage from the camera or it probably won't work.

  • Answers to the Panasonic PV-GS300 problem

I am not sure if it's in the manual for the Panasonic PV-GS300 or not, but I just figured it out.
When you connect the GS300 to the Mac, (USING A FIREWIRE cable!!), in order to import the video into iMovie, you MUST have it in Playback mode. NOT IN PC CONNECTION MODE as it would be obvious to do.
Playback mode is the Green Square with the Right pointing Green arrow on the dial on the back. One click away from record mode. Once you click it to this position, iMovie will work instantly!

    Ben,
Your AV (Audio/Video) port is an output to connect your cam to your TV. Your camera should have come with the cable to make this connection. It has the A/V plug on one end and three RCA plugs on the other. Many owners of the GS-300 and the GS-500 have used this port to create a headphone connection for the purpose of monitoring the cam's sound recording, especially when using an external mic.
To find out how that's done, or for all the info you will ever need about your cam, or any Panasonic camcorder, go to this site:

  • Panasonic SDR-H40P/PC & iMovie HD 6

Will my new Panasonic camcorder work with iMovie HD 6? I can't get it to import the video files, only still pictures. I'm using the USB connection, and it imported only the last video. It won't read the others.

I just got a Panasonic SDR-H40P for Xmas yesterday and tried to import video file into iMove 7.1.4. At first I had a problem thinking it was the exe. file that it created. Now that I think about it, they were the files that format the drive. Then after shooting some additional footage I saw the video files recognized by iMovie then it would crash. After reading a post about "Perian" users I uninstalled it from my Macbook Pro and kept trying to import. That seemed to do the trick. So the moral of the story is; YES, it does work nice with iMovie 7.1.4. but don't have "Perian" app loaded. By the way I was an Final Cut Pro user scince the first version and never really gave iMovie a chance. I love this app for home movie stuff. If I do another pro project I will go back to FCP but for now I love the Panasonic/iMove combo.
    Have fun.

  • Impossible to import videos from Panasonic SDR s26 to iMovie 09, previously no problem. Why?

Impossible to import videos from Panasonic SDR s26 to iMovie 09, previously no problem. Any way to solve this problem?

I don't have your model but here are some things to try.
    1) Make sure you are powering the camcorder with AC power not batteries.
    2) Open iMovie before connecting the Camcorder
    3) Connect the USB Cable and turn on the camcorder
    4) Open the LCD screen of the camcorder. Does it give you a choice of Pictbridge vs. PC Mode. If so, choose PC Mode.
    5) iMovie import screen should come up.
Also, make sure you have installed all software updates. (/Software Update). If the software update requires you to restart your Mac, then restart your Mac before proceeding. Install iMovie, iLife, Quicktime, and Leopard updates.
If that still does not work, try taking out your SD card and putting in a USB card reader.
If that still does not work, put the card back in the camcorder and make a disk image of the card using disk utility. After making the disk image, try formatting the card using your camcorder menu. Then retry shooting some footage and importing.
By the way, using MPEG streamclip should not create files any larger than iMovie will create using an import function.

  • HT3905 importing iFrame files from my Panasonic HX-DC2 to iMovie?

importing iFrame files from my Panasonic HX-DC2 to iMovie?

After searching the internet I ended up buying VoltaicHD for $30 by downloading it from the "Shedworx" website. The way it works is: you attach the HDC-SD9 to your MAC with the supplied USB cable. The HDD and SD card will show up on your desktop. If you open each one, you'll find a file called "Stream" which will contain all of your video clips. Drag and drop each file to the Voltaic window and start the decompression process by simply hitting start. Tell Voltaic where you want the files to be stored on your computer and then be very patient, because the process can take a long time. But it does work. The MTS files in your camera are converted to Quicktime files which can be imported to Final Cut or iMovie. It's time consuming, but you do get HD files out of the process, although the audio is only stereo and not 5.1 surround sound.

  • Play through from Panasonic DV camera to iMovie 4.

I have my Panasonic NV-GS11 hooked up to my eMac via Firewire.
I'd like to be able to play through from VHS recorder to record to my hard-drive but it doesn't seem to want to work for me.
I am using an S-Video lead as well, seperate from the audio leads.
I have followed the instructions to the tee in the manual.
The only joy I have had is by clicking the Import button in iMovie and it grabs about a 2 second shot from the VHS tape that is playing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • Can't open movie files from Panasonic SDR-H200 in imovie

    I just purchased a Panasonic SDR-H200...
imovie won't open the downloaded file (MP2)???
I had to download the files by using the Panasonic software (Image Mixer 3)... that software has no problem saving and playing back the file...
does anyone know why imovie won't even recognize the files???

The TZ60 needs the Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) plug-in version 8.4 or newer, which is only compatible with Elements 12, and only with OSX 10.7 or Windows 7 and newer.
If your computer and OS are new enough then you could upgrade to PSE12 and update PSE12 to use ACR 8.4 and be able to open the TZ60 raw files, but a new version of Elements usually comes out about this time every year, which means PSE13 is probably due out within a month so you might also wait a few weeks and upgrade to the newer version.
In the interim, again if your computer and OS are new enough, you can download the DNG Converter 8.4 or higher (usually you’d just get the newest version which is currently 8.6) and use it to create DNGs from your raw files and those will open in the older PSE11 ACR plug-in.
The DNG Converter is available, here:  http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates
And PSE12 is available, here:  http://www.adobe.com/downloads

  • Importing Panasonic HDC-SD90 in iMovie

I'm truing to import Panasonic HDC-SD90 videofootage in iMovie, can do that only through conversion by iVI (Third Party coversion software). Has ther been improvement from Appel to convert HD movie directly from camera? iMAc 10.6.6. + iMovie 11. P.s.
read all other treads about Panasonic <-> Imovie

So -- is it possible to import from the HDC-SD90 to iMovie?
    I'm using iMovie '11 9.0.4.
When I insert an SDHC card with movies on it from the HDC-SD90, iMovie opens the import dialog, but Import All.. is greyed out, and I can't select any of the movies in manual mode.
Do I need to change settings on the camera? The movies are shown in iMovie with 60p with a red stop symbol over the top. (Excuse my ignorance -- I don't know much about video recording formats.)
The HDC-SD90 appears on Apple's list of supported cameras for iMovie '11.
(I'm in the UK, so assuming this is PAL...)

  • What codecs to use for panasonic HDX200 in quicktime / iMovie

Hey guys.. I am familiar kind of with iMovie and fina cut express but I had some fotage shot for me with a panasonic HDX200 and need to know how to get that footage to play with quicktime and iMovie app. What codecs do I need and where do i get them?
    I appreciate any help!
    Thanks!
    Donnie

    Hello,
I guess you're refering to HVX200 (HDX doesn't exist IMHO)
HVX200 records in DV and DVCPro HD formats.
For DVCPro HD, you need a codec not coming with standard Mac OS X installations.
This codec is bundled with Final Cut Pro software.

  • Using the Panasonic HDC SD90 with iMovie '11

I just got the Panasonic HDC SD90 and I pluged it into my computer and opened iMovie, and all I ot were the movies I already shoot. I want to be able to record dirctly to the hard drive of my mac book pro. Is this possible? Thanks for any help

This is not possible. Imovie imports from this camera, but not in real time. It will be faster or slower than real time based on your computer.
    It goes like this...
Camera records to highly compressed AVCHD format.
iMovie imports AVCHD and converts to Apple Intermediate Codec format.
You can now edit on iMovie.
You can share your movie in a compressed format like H.264.
For live recording, use a webcam or a DV firewire camera. Both these options are relatively low resolution.

  • Panasonic HC-V520 and iMovie

I just purchased a mac pro and I want to buy a new camcorder.  I'm looking at the Panasonic HC-V520 but I'm concerned that I'll have problems with iMovie.  Does anyone know if this camcorder is compatable, or can someone suggest a similiar camcorder? Thanks.

  • Pixelated video - Panasonic AG-HVX200 and iMovie 5.02

Ive had no issues with iMovie 5.02 and importing video, but now im trying to transfer a MiniDV tape using a Panasonic AG-HVX200 into my dual 1.8 G5 using iMovie 5.02 and the video is very pixelated. Any thoughts of what to try? Thanks in advance!

Thanks very much Beverly. I tried BQ but no luck. Maybe I need to try a different DVD, ensuring that it is single layer, as you say. Currently using TDK DVD+R ('Extra Fine Matt 1-16x'). Previously used Verbatim DVD+R, which I think was better. For one thing, with Verbatim, Disk Utility would enable me to choose burn speed (slowest is best I understand). With this TDK model, I can't set speed (I think 4x is what it uses). p.s., have relatives in San Mateo. Love the Bay area. I'm in northern Virginia, we're digging out snow. One of those relatives planned to fly here yesterday, looks like it will be tomorrow now. Thanks again.

  • Panasonic HDC-TM900 with iMovie

    Hello,
I purchased recently a Panasonic HDC-TM900 and, although I can import and edit the footage in iMovie '09, the quality of the DVD created is pretty poor. Is there any way to get HD quality on a DVD? What can I use?
I had an older Sony Digital8 and was using iMovieHD. I was hoping that with the new camera I would get a better quality.
    Any input is much appreciated.

    Hi
iMovie '09, the quality of the DVD created is pretty poor. Is there any way to get HD quality on a DVD?
No this doesn't give a better result.
    A. There are no HD-DVD at all (just academic and needs special Toshiba player to be viewed). DVD is as Standard SD-Video
    B. iMovie'08 to 11 - is not the tool to use as they discard every second line in Export to iDVD (What ever way used - no 100% work around)
Better is to use iMovie up to HD6 or FinalCut as they deliver full interlaced video to iDVD and 100% quality.
