Pandora very unstable--also experience video freeze
Hi, I could be happy with my iPad if only the Pandora application--Internet radio--would work. Pandora works great on iPhone and iTouch, but cuts out over and over again on iPad. Often it can't get through 1 song.
Have had iPad for 1 month, am taking it back to the store in hopes of a solution.
I've done the hard reset trick, it really doesn't seem to help.
Any advice welcome! Thank you !
Thanks, Red, for the response!
What I did this morning is synch the iPad with my Mac. It took a little while.
Afterward everything with streaming is working!--Pandora, ABC videos, and even Spark Radio, which was really hopeless before. (Excellent app by the way, I can get a lot of stations now where before none would load successfully.)
The wireless Internet signals I use are very strong and I had trouble even when limited to one device. When I was having trouble, the iPad was about 2 feet from the router. All other devices worked great and fast at that time, the connection was described as "excellent" on PC netbook and also on the iPad.
So I canceled my Apple Genius Bar appointment for this morning, because I can't find anything wrong now. YAY!
What I learned is: Synch the iPad when having problems. I also took the further step of updating all my apps.
ALSO:
I was also getting repeated error messages on my email, so much so that I just removed the email accounts. The messages would say "cannot connect to Gmail" or they would say "password incorrect" when that was not the case. I have not yet tried email again but I have a feeling it will be better, also. I don't care so much about that, I can get mail via websites, but music I must have
Right now I am experiencing IPAD BLISS so I am hoping all is well from now on!!!!!!
Thanks to Apple, who I suspect had a magical hand in discovering this problem and fixing it behind the scenes.

Why I am experiencing video freezing using FaceTime.
Using an iMac intel OS 10.6.8 and connecting to MacBook Pro with FaceTime, I experience video freezes and broken audio. The other party (MacBook) does not seem to have the same issue leading me to believe it is something to do with the iMac. I tried restarting prior to the FaceTime session but this did not help the problem. I am connected via wire to a cable modem. I haven't found any references to this issue in the help menu nor any forums at this point. Any thoughts?
This article might help. Especially note the troubleshooting section towards the end.

Most videos freeze after 5-15 seconds if the mouse is not hovering (and moving) in the video window.
Also many sort URL links from email (Open in new Tab) fail with 404 error. Videos don't freeze and same links work fine in Chrome.
Searched problem using Google and followed several pieces of advice -- same problem.
Removed all add-ons and extensions - same problem.
Removed Firefox 24, Reinstalled using latest version 25 (import nothing) -- same problem
Replaced Firefox with version 22 and it seems to be working fine.

Video freeze with Fast User Switching
I can't seem to find anything on this specific topic in the forums, but it's plagued me pretty much since I got the i7 iMac a year ago. The problem is this: when I have more than one account logged in via Fast User Switching, the video will freeze on me. Details:
* by video I mean not the display as a whole, but any video content that is playing -- YouTube, iChat video, etc.
* only the video freezes. Audio keeps playing.
* if I close the other user account, video will resume its normal functioning.
* if I constantly move the window in which the video is playing, it will keep playing.
* if I switch away from the window and return, the video will play again for a brief second.
Those last 2 I find especially puzzling, and they lead me to believe that somehow the computer or the video card somehow is "forgetting" that it needs to redraw the video.
I brought this issue up to a very friendly and helpful Apple rep who suggested zapping the PRAM, which did help for a couple of days but even a restart will do the trick for a while.
Anybody else seen this issue? Any solutions?Same here. Not specific to 10.7.x, had it in 10.5 and 10.6 as well. The problem is made worse when also using Screen Sharing. All video is stalled (audio plays on). Sometimes the video continues when the mouse is moved. The video also continues when the system volume is changed using the keyboard.
And with all video I mean really all video. Even transitions in the login screen pause until I press the volume keys.
Usually there is no problem with one specific user, and the stalls can usually be fixed by logging that user out, as if that user somehow "owns" the video of the Mac.
Very annoying, and I do hope someone has a solution.
Any specific stuff the other me too's here have installed? I've got Flash Player, Click2Flash, Perian, SizzlingKeys, Flip4Mac for instance. -
Iphone 4 running 4.3.5 wifi very unstable/will not connect to network
Hi all iPhone users. Im new to this so please bear with me. I have an iPhone 4 (had for about 1 month or so). I have recently updated to the new 4.3.5 software. Sice then, my wifi seems to be very very unstable. Im only about 10ft from my router and when I go to connect, I get an error saying 'unable to join network'. I previously had an iphone 3gs and that connected fine further away.
When my iphone 4 does connect, the connection lasts about 10-15 secs and then it will not load any web pages although it shows its connected. I have tried all methods on previous threads but nothing seems to work. Ive also tried retting my router and changing the wifi channel to make the signal stronger but nothing seems to work.
Ive seem some threads where people have 'put them in the freezer' but im not willing to do that as the phone is only a month old. Ive tried the network reset, the hard reset, re-installing itunes and trying the update again but it nothing seems to work.
Any help or advise would be much appreciated.
ThanksHi folks,
SOLVED
iPhone 4 wasn't having any joy (and neither was my new 4s).
Tried turning OFF the security on the router, connecting the iPhones (yep, they connected OK) then turning on the security (WPA2-PSK [AES]) and both iPhones still connected.
So, it looks like this is the way to solve a non-connecting iPhone 4/4s with a Netgear WiFi router.
Hope this helps others with the same problem.

I downloaded a couple videos off the itunes store. They went into the ipod just fine. When I went to play one of them it was playing beautifuly. All of a sudden the picture would freeze but the music will continue. Then the picture will go a couple more seconds then stop again. Keeps doing that. I thought well I'll try the other video. It does the samething. I tried restarting it, rebooting it, its fully charged. I dont get it! Why is it doing that?? Its a 30GB if that helps any.
Same problem here with firmware 1.1. Videos in MPEG4 format (at the least - I haven't tried H.264 yet) pause and/or freeze. This happens with videos that played great with 1.0 firmware, as well as new conversions. I've converted with iSquint set to optimize for iPod, MPEG4 (not H.264), maximum quality ("Go nuts") and 128 kbps audio. When played, repeatably at the 31 second mark the video freezes and does not continue. This happens in the exact same point in multiple different videos - it's always the 31 second mark. If I scan forward a bit the video will start again, but often without sound. Even when I then get sound, the freeze happens again a short while later. Repeat.
When I changed iSquint to encode the same way except for the quality set to "High" instead of "Go Nuts", the result is only very slightly better - the video pauses for about 4 seconds at the 31 second mark but then continues. However it then freezes at 1:22 and doesn't start again. I tried setting the quality to "Standard" and it gave the same 3 or 4 second pause at the 31 second mark. I didn't continue that one to see if it would freeze for good at 1:22 or not. I'm now trying an H.264 conversion to see if that has the same problem or not. That conversion is in progress so I don't have anything to report yet.
I also tried "restoring" my iPod to factory settings (but still with 1.1 firmware) but it didn't help. Same problem. I guess I'm going to have to go back to version 1.0 as well. I have a 60 GB vPod and I'm syncing with a Mac, so this isn't a Windows only problem. Was considering the FM remote, but it looks like that's not going to happen now.

Streaming videos freeze up although buffered.
I have a Lenovo Y50-70 with the following specs:
i7 4710 HQ CPU
256 GB SSD
GB RAM
Intel HD Graphics 4600 and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M(4GB)
I have Windows 8.1 (64Bit) installed
I experience problems with streamed video content.
Especially with flash videos streamed in HD. (It seems also with HTML5 content when falsh player is installed).
The videos freeze up for a few seconds eventhough the video has already buffered.
I figured that streamed via vfl player the videos run smoothly.
I had this problem with 4! different Laptops now all with the same specs (same model)
This occures in different networks not only my homenetwork.
I updated all my drivers and tried Firefox IE aswell as Chrome.
Every time the same result.
Update: I bought a newer model now, the older one had only 8 GB Ram and a Geforce 860M (2GB)Hi,
I just saw your post and changed my resolution to 1366 X 768, and it solved my problem replaying photo-audio slideshows. But now the bottom of the screen is cut off. I'd prefer 1366 x 768. Do you have any idea why the screen resolution makes a difference? I'm just trying to playback photo-audio slideshows. Seriously bumming me out that this is happening on my new MacAir 11".
Thanks for any tips. -
Musca scrolling webpage is very slow and a little freezing
Hi guys !
I installed Musca on yaourt ,my os is x86_64,
when I scrolled in firefox ,the web page scrolled very slow and with some freezing.:(
but the termial (urxvt) and other apps was working without this problem.
my video driver is x86_video_radeonhd ,
my video card is ATI HD3650.
when I use fvwm ,all things works well!
thanks for your help!!!:DHi, I see you're pretty new to the forums. Unfortunately, I don't know what could be causing your problem. So, let me first direct you to the thread about musca here. You may also want to look at the ATI thread (no idea). Have you tried enabling/disenabling compositing?
Secondly, let me direct you to the Forum Etiquette guide, especially the part about bumping. Usually you should only "bump" your thread after 3-5 days and after you have tried more, researched more, and only to tell us any new information you have, like "XYZ doesn't help either, it makes Firefox segfault."

Virtual Desktop/Space video freeze
Hi there,
I am using Lion Server 10.7.1 with the new "virtual desktop/space" feature. Lion Server is installed on a mini (core2duo, 4GB RAM) which is showing eyetv on my tv. From another mac (Lion 10.7.1) I connect to the mini for administration using the new virtual desktop/space feature. I get a blank desktop where I can work very well but...Everytime I do this, the eyetv video and most time after some more seconds also the audio freezes on my tv. This also happens when I use Itunes. After I close the administration connection the video plays fine.
Any idea or anyone out there without theses problems?
Thanks,
Frank.Someone in the Lion Server Forum might know?

Videos freezing but the sound still goes on?
Any video except Youtube videos freezes/stops moving the frames as it's paused at some random point but the sound and the timer/slider/scrubbing tool/bar still goes on with the sound.
Please help!
It happens at random times, random sites and browsers. Also it happens in random places in videos too. Usually at the very first seconds though.
1-) I have tried different browsers,
2-) Tried other sites,
3-) Other resolutions and varietys of videos,
4-) Flash Player (Puffin and Photon),
5-) Resetting my internet settings,
6-) Power off and on my ipad,
7-) Googling this problem.
Steps of the problem:
1-) Can watch the first seconds/minutes perfectly.
2-) When I try to slide forward it automatically stops/freezes the visual/frames but the sound and the time still goes on.
3-) It happens when I don't slide forward too.Hi,
Is it a Plug-n-Play or Plug-n-Pray headphones ? Have you installed its driver ? Can you see it in Device Manager ? If Yes and Yes you have to disable the internal speaker and enable the headphones using the speaker icon at the bottom right (Playback devices).
Regards.

Memory full/video freeze - backup - Spiderman (!)
Hi
Read lots of these posts regarding memory full errors, so I am planning to upgrade the firmware. However when doing the backup, it's told me that it could not back-up copyright material (I am assuming this is the Spiderman vid that came with it) - Am I right in thinking that I will therefore loose Spiderman when I update the firmware?
The problem with memory manifests itself as follows:
Approximately 5GB free on the phone.
I have 660mb of music
When ever I download more than about 80MB of podcasts, the memory is full ...
I have also suffered from the video freeze problem - once you have a couple of vids on the phone, it will freeze for a couple of seconds. Whilsts other has said it is to do with the I/O speed of the mass memory, I don;t think it is - it is too intermittent. e.g. went to Coldplay gig. First vid - no skip (about 5 mins) 2nd & 3rd attempts to vid - froze after a couple of seconds - then managed 10 minutes straight off. No changes to settings..
Anyhow - if you can let me know about spiderman - is he a gonner on my phone when I update the firmware?

Video freezes for a few seconds multiple times but audio continues ok
Flash freezes for a second or three; audio continues ok.
Happens usually a few seconds in, every 8 seconds or so for maybe 3 times and
intermittent after that (sometimes runs fine the rest of the way). Have Vista64
IE9 - Chrome and FF doesn't freeze only IE. Disabled hardware acceleration (to
software). Nvidia 440 drivers up to date. Flash up to date: Object
13.0.0.214 ActiveX control: 12.0.9.149
(shouldn't that be same as object?). Not a buffer problem as it loads up
usually at a good clip ahead of playing video. Local storage buffer set at 10MB
(tried higher and lower settings no joy). Would having 4 HD audio drivers
installed have anything to do with this problem? (noticed in device manager). Previous
versions back a few months were doing this too so decided to go on this forum. Thanks.
Hope I didn't miss anything.OK as of today (June 27, 2014) I've had 93 views with no response. I did find a very long thread pertaining to this subject (Flash player stutters for 1 second then continues normally) so I'll tack on to end of that thread with the hopes that something can be done with this annoying stuttering. I want to post my DX Diag text but first update above: It's IE version 9. When video freezes it appears to "catch up" with audio running with no hitch (the whole thing takes a second or two and might happen a few times in a minute video - it ALWAYS happens with a second or two in the beginning though). I even reinstalled IE9 going all the way back to IE7 to make sure I got "fresh" files installed as possible - still same problem after that. With that said below is my DX Diag text. If someone (especially an Adobe person) has any suggestions of where else I can post to get someone talking to me I would appreciate it.

Computer randomly shuts down/Very unstable since upgrade to yosemite
Since upgrading to yosemite my computer has become very unstable.
For anyone that can help with what may be causing this issue I would really
appreciate it. As for "Adobe" being a possible cause, how can I determine
which Adobe program and related files are the culprit?
Thank you very much to anyone who offer's their support and help.

Feb 9, 2015, 05:23:10 PM /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/mdworker_2015-02-09-172310_[redacted].crashA number of problems exist including the likelihood of system corruption as a result of using CleanMyMac.
It is not reasonable to expect a Mac to operate normally after using CleanMyMac. Like many ill-conceived "cleaning" utilities, it is capable of corrupting a Mac to the point that erasing it completely is the only practicable means of recovery. CleanMyMac is not the only example; it is merely popular due to marketing strategies that are as effective as they are intrusive.
There is no practicable way to reverse the effects of having used CleanMyMac2 other than to reinstall all affected files from backups or their original sources. Its developer's uninstallation instructions are ineffective despite their recent claims to the contrary. Only MacPaw, its developer, can know the reason for that, but I can think of two possibilities: either they are purposefully leaving components behind for reasons known only to them, or they simply don't know what they're doing. Neither one of those possibilities is particularly comforting for the user.
Reinstalling OS X alone will have no effect on either removing CleanMyMac or reversing the damage it is capable of inflicting upon a system.
Besides CleanMyMac2, garbage "cleaning" and "anti-virus" software exists, specifically "Avast", "Smith Micro", and "Symantec / Norton". Those products should not be installed on any Mac, because they convey no benefit and are only capable of creating or contributing to problems.
In addition, that Mac's Hosts file appears to have been modified. Fixing a modified Hosts file requires specific instructions. Apple Support Communities contributor and EtreCheck author etresoft recently added a User Tip discussing that concern, and how to correct it: Fixing a hacked /etc/hosts file
The recovery procedure that follows will obviate the need to correct all those separate problems and is likely to require the least amount of your time and interaction.
Follow the applicable recovery procedure below:
If you have a backup that you created prior to using CleanMyMac, now is the time to use it. For Time Machine, boot OS X Recovery, and at the Mac OS X Utilities screen, choose Restore from Time Machine Backup. Choose a date preceding the installation of CleanMyMac.
If you do not have a backup that predates the use of CleanMyMac, create one now. To do that read Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac.
The recovery procedure will require that you erase the Mac using OS X Recovery, and then create a new user whose contents will be empty. You will then be able to use Setup Assistant to migrate your essential documents including photos, music, work products and other essential files.
When doing so, select only your previous User account and do not select "Applications", "Computer and Network Settings" or "Other files and folders". De-select those choices.
Subsequent to using Setup Assistant, you will need to reinstall the essential software you may require, once again remembering to install software only from their original sources, and omitting all non-essential software.
To erase and install Yosemite read: OS X Yosemite: Erase and reinstall OS X
To migrate your essential documents read: OS X Yosemite: Transfer your info from a computer or storage device and follow the procedure under Transfer info from a Time Machine backup or other storage device. -
Video freeze, sound only, no solution
I'm having problems with video iChat. Shortly after I connect, my
video freezes (both send and receive) but the chat continues with
sound. If I try doing anything in iChat (like quitting) I get the
spinning wheel of death. The only thing I can do at that point is
force quit the process. Since the process doesn't technically crash, I
don't get a crash log. I am running a brand-new 24" iMac G5 with the
latest version of Mac OSX (10.4.10), and all software updates. I had
been able to successfully iChat until last week, which also coincided
with the latest OSX and QuickTime updates.
I have tried all of the following:
- Switching my port to 443
- Reducing Quicktime streaming speed to 1.5 Mps
- Changing settings on iChat bandwidth limit from Automatic to anything lower.
- Creating a brand-new test user and seeing if the problem persists. It does.
- Fooling with the Quicktime transport settings (HTTP vs. UDP)
- Ran Apple's hardware test suite. No problems. The built-in iSight
camera works fine with all other apps. I can capture video from the
camera with iMovie with no problems.
- Tested hardware. Everything fine. The iSight camera works fine in all other apps.
I can even make a movie with it in iMovie.
- Did a speed test. Download 8560Kb/s, upload 923 Kb/s
I can video chat with various Apple bots. This appears to be receive
only. My insert video has frozen only once. My friend whom I have
trouble chatting with (and with whom I was chatting successfully up
through last week) chats with other people on a daily basis without
incident.
I've ruled out my ISP and my router because I can iChat with the same
friend from my wife's G4 laptop. To make things even more maddening,
I can also iChat with my wife's laptop via AIM.
I did an archive install (keeping users and settings). Same problem.
I called up AppleCare and they recommended that I just reinstalled
iChat. It worked for a few minutes, then the same problem. Applecare's next
recommended course of action is an erase install, and I really don't want to
go through the hassle of that just to fix iChat.
I'm enclosing process samples that contain error messages, first from
the "vcencoder" child process of iChat, and then from iChat itself.
Here is a sample from vcencoder while I am connected with the Apple ichat bot. Notice
that I removed dozens of repetitive threadreadstack errors in the interest of space

Sample analysis of process 471 written to file /dev/stdout
Sampling process 471 each 10 msecs 300 times
Any help is much appreciated.
iMac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.10)I just did all of the above:
Pacifist iChat reinstall
Pacifist Video Framework and Chat Framework reinstall
Combo reinstall.
Had one session of 2 or 3 minutes without freezing, though the stack errors
were still there in the processes. Then, I froze and all subsequent chats freeze almost immediately. This is driving me crazy.
Also - I'm new to the Mac world. I have a 24" Intel iMac - not a G5.
Thanks again
