Panel Resize - how to tell when mouse released?
I need to programmatically resize all my controls when the panel is resized. I can't use the automatic option, as I have some specific things to do, e.g. some controls stay at fixed size, others resize.
I've used an event structure and am doing the resizing on the "Panel Resize" event. The problem is that this takes a little time, mainly as one of the controls is an Adobe Reader ActiveX control, which takes a little time to rescale and redraw.
The result is that the VI seems to queue up the events as the panel is resized - if you grab the corner of the window and move it around, the VI then sits and ploughs through all the events that were created as it was resized.
What I'm really after is an event that fires after the panel has been resized and the mouse has been released. Is there a way of achieving this?
Thanks
There's no event for this, but you can filter your events, for example, like this:
There are other variations on this (setting a flag, using a case structure in the original event case, etc.).
Try to take over the world!

How to tell when the interface is down and was last active.
Is there a function within Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 (2.0.0.0.294) that will display the last time that an interface was active? Our end switch hardware is as follows C2960s-48fps and C3750-48PS-S.
See below for command and command output from the console of one of our switches.
C2960s-48fps#show int gi1/0/6 | include Last | proto
GigabitEthernet1/0/6 is down, line protocol is down (notconnect)
Last input never, output 1w6d, output hang never
Above is an example of one interface but can this be accomplished for all interfaces on the said switch?
Thanks
Message was edited by: Bobby Sasser The following is the response that Cisco TAC sent. Not happy with this answer! Unfortunately , Prime doesn’t collect those precise information. So apparently you won’t be able to poll that information from the device.You have not posted to code for Stopper, so it's impossible to reason about that
1. How can I tell when thread is finished?
Use Thread.Join() or Thread.isAlive()
2. How do I kill this thread once it is finished?
You can't and you don't. Just let the method the thread is running exit normally. Sometimes that means putting in a boolean variable to control a loop, and then exiting when the boolean is false.
Another thought - you could set the thread as a Daemon thread - when you don't have any non-daemon threads running, java will exit. -
Thread: How to tell when the thread is finished AND how to kill it?
Hi there,
I have a thread that runs in the background and does this:
class MyThread implements Runnable
public void run()
Stopper stopper = new Stopper();
//do something that takes some time
stopper.stop();
System.out.println("total time "+stopper.getTime());
}this works fine (I have a swing gui where I click a button and this thread runs and it's ok. PROBLEM IS, when I click the button again (to re-activate the thread) it seems that the stopper is not null but still counting the time (I was under the impression that ...= new Stopper() will create a new object type Stopper).
so -
1. How can I tell when thread is finished?
2. How do I kill this thread once it is finished?
the invocation:
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent arg0)
Thread t = new Thread( new MyThread());
t.start();
}THANK YOU!You have not posted to code for Stopper, so it's impossible to reason about that

How to tell when the load to start
Hi,
don't even know where to look for the answer, so I apologize
if this topic was already opened. Here's my case. In main flash
movie load another flash movie, where different items come from
left and right side of the screen (full screen window). After a
click on one item, all the item go the sam eway off the screen and
another movie loads. Question. How to tell the flash that first all
the items must go off the screen and then unload that movie and
load the new one?

How to detect a mouse release event?
AE SDK provides events for mouse click and mouse drag over effect plugin custom UIs, however there does not seem to be events for mouse release events.
Are we supposed to keep ourselves an internal track of the mouse status? In that case, do we need to use OS-specific functions? Or is there a more clever way to do it?@shachar
Yes, I set send_drag during the DoClick event callback, like they do in the SDK samples.
Anyway, for the time being I found that using OS-specific functions (for example GetAsyncKeyState for Windows) does the job. -
How to tell when another computer connects
How can you determine if another computer on your network or the internet connects to your Mac? The appfirewall.log will log any attempt to connect, but does not tell if the connection was successful or not. For instance - "Allow smbd connecting from 10.0.1.4:49999 to port 139 proto=6" is reported in the log whether the connection attempt succeeded or failed.
Is there no way to determine when a remote share connects to your Mac for file sharing?
Message was edited by: Larry GageIf by "connects" you mean AFP filesharing, I have not heard of a notification for that. You can run this command in Terminal, which reports all AFP users connected:
netstat -na | grep 548
You can wrap the command in an Applescript for more convenience, then run it from the Applescript menu:
tell application "Terminal"
if not (exists window 1) then do script ""
do script "netstat -na | grep 548" in front window
end tell -

How to tell when it is charged.
I just plugged my ipod into the usb port to charge,and the front light is blinking orange. Does that mean it's charging? And if so, will the front light turn green when it is done charging?
The reason why I'm asking this is because when my ipod is disconnected and I push the battery light button,it's green. I was just wondering if the front and battery light are supposed to be that color when it's charged as well.I just plugged my ipod into the usb port to

Yes... page 16 iPod Shuffle User Guide:
"When the battery is charging, the iPod shuffle status light is amber. When the battery is fully charged, the light is green until you disconnect iPod shuffle. ...
Note: If iPod shuffle is being used as a disk (see page 18), the status light blinks amber continuously. "

The battery status light gives you an indication of the charge level of the battery... page 17 of the iPod Shuffle User Guide:
"If the battery status light is green when you press the battery status button, iPod shuffle has a good charge. If the light is amber, iPod shuffle is low on charge, and if it’s red, very little charge is left and you should recharge iPod shuffle soon. If no light is visible, the battery is out of power and you must recharge iPod shuffle to use it. "
Hope this helps... you DO have a copy of the iPod Shuffle User Guide don't you? -
How to tell when my iPad 2 was built?
Is there some indicator somewhere, like with Mac serial numbers, that gives away "what week" my new iPad 2 was built?
It must have been relatively recently, because out of the box it was running iOS 4.3.2.
Thanks,

How to tell when View is about to transition to another view and when the app is going to backgorund
Hello,
I have a view that displays an actionContent button and removes it when the view goes away.
I add it on the creationComplete event handler and remove it on the viewDeactivate event handler.
The problem is that the viewDeactivate is fired when the the Menu button is pressed or a phone call is received for example and thus it removes the button.
When the application is brought back, the button is no longer there.
Although I can add the code to create the button again on viewActivate this time, I wonder if there is a better way to do this.
Thank you.viewDeactivate - fires when view slided out and when app goes to background
removing - fires when slide out effect started
remove - fires when slide out effect ended -

How to tell when controls are finished being created?
I am building an application that constructs the main user interface dynamically, based on XML parameters gathered from a database. There are more than 130 components in the UI, including the layout containers and formitems.
At the beginning of the function that creates all the controls, I capture the time, with microseconds. At the end of that function, I do it again. Typically it takes about 3 seconds to run that function.
However... the UI doesn't appear then. Flash's "busy" cursor keeps spinning away for another 7 to 10 seconds before the UI actually appears. I need to be able to give the user some real feedback about progress. Is there any way to keep track of things more accurately?
Thanks.
