Panel size won't "stick" when restarting LR.

I want the left hand panel to be MUCH bigger so I can see more of my folder names. I can re-size it, but when I close and re-open LR, it returns the panel size to the original default size. Is there a way to get the re-sized panel to stay that way across LR re-starts?
On a related topic, at the moment, even with the left panel at the largest size I can make it, my folder/sub-folder structure results in part of the folder names being cut off. Is there any way to deal with this? Is there perhaps a way to get the font to be a bit smaller so that I can use longer folder names without having them cut off?
Thanks,
Larry

I'm referring to the panel size, not the font size (although I would also like to be able to make the font size smaller than the "small" setting.)
Zal posted about the problem I'm seeing, which appears to be a bug.
Thanks,
Larry

  • Default paper size won't stick in Snow Leopard

    Hi,
I have a Mac which prints to a usb laser, which is on the network. Since Snow Leopard the default paper size won't stick. Every time I print I have to change it from US Letter to A4. It's ok on the Mac which host the printer. Both Macs are on Snow Leopard. (I have ensured that the Region is appropriate and set the Default Paper Size in the Printer prefs.)
    Anyone any ideas?

I had a similar problem and none of the above solutions worked. However, with the help of my daughter, we figured it out (at least it worked for me).
Go to Apple Preferences/Print & Fax.
    Pick your printer.
Ensure the 'Default paper size' is correct.
Click on the 'Options & Supplies' button, then 'Driver'.
On the Fit to Page menu, choose 'Nearest Size and Scale'
All the programs now use the default paper and size.
    I hope this helps.

  • Dc 5750 computer won't boot when restarting

I have a DC 5750 HP Desktop and I can't get it to boot up to logon screen when selecting restart, it will power down and attemp to reboot but after reading memory I just displays a blank or black screen with no writing or mouse pointer at all.  This only happen when restarting on it's own or, after installing updates or software.  It will only boot to the desk top upon pressing the power button.
    Please help.

    Hi
I am having this exact same problem. The system runs fine and every time you turn it on it boots up first time, however if you are already logged on and for any reason you need to restart it shuts down, comes up with the first screen and then goes blank.
I have already updated the bios to the latest version but no luck. Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Show items from subfolders won't stick when searching (CS5)

For some reason after selecting a folder, and making sure "show items from subfolders" is selected, when I do a search in that folder, "show items from subfolders" gets deselected. Any idea why this might happen? I'm pretty sure it has worked normally in the past.

Well, in that case, it sounds like this is causing the problem. If you can't read the cache, then you probably can't read an index either.
Without knowing anything about your computer system, I'd suggest that you need to check for general account permission setup problems before looking at Bridge specifically.

  • Code View Font Size Won't Stick

I changed the font size that gets displayed in code view. I
get the new font size for new documents, but older documents keep
    the older (smaller) font size.
I tried recreating these documents, and that doesn't help.
    Using CS4 on a Mac w/ Leopard.
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

  • Set maximum panel size

    Hi,

that when I maximize it with a state property node set to 5 (maximized)
when I open it, it don't pass the size I want for that panel.
How Can I do It? I can set the minimum panel size, in File->Vi

    Hi,
From my vi, before I call another vi from it, I have a FP Open and FP.
State property set to True and 4 (Minimized) respectively and then I
use a Run Vi invoke node and finally, after it, I have another FP.
State property set to 1 (Standard). My front panel  when opens has
the same size as I saved it but LV not redraws it well. How Can I do to
solve this kind of problem? I have this problem since a lot of time ago.

  • Why won't 'Address and Search' from 'Customize Toolbar' box 'stick' when I drag it to my toolbar? I ran updates last night, and my Google searchbox disappeared and I can't get it back.

Why won't 'Address and Search' from 'Customize Toolbar' box 'stick' when I drag it to my toolbar? I ran updates last night, and my Google searchbox disappeared and I can't get it back.

    Safari 6 ?
URL address bar and Google search field are combined together in Safari 6.
Apple calls it Smart Search field.
There is no way to separate them.

  • MacBook  Pro screen glitches out, gray lines appear on it then my computer freezes and must be restarted sometimes it will beep 3 times when restarting and other times it won't. Is this a virus?

I have a MacBook Pro running mavericks. Sometimes the screen glitches out, gray lines appear on it then my computer freezes and must be restarted sometimes it will beep 3 times when restarting and other times it won't. Is this a virus, software issue, water damage, etc? An error message usually appears after being restarted. It does it all the time please help.

No Virus. You have a Hardware Problem. 3 Beeps means a RAM problem. You could try Reseating the RAM is its sockets.
But that wouldn't necessarily cause the screen to Glitch Out, as you say.

I have an older Power Mac G5 running 10.4 11.  Key chain seems to have locked itself ?  When I go to open Keychain it is locked and won't open on restart or when I use my administrator password.  I thought the keychain password was the administrator's password and that it would open on restart.  If this isn't correct, how can I open Keychain ?

  • My iMovie window is stuck behind the Dock and it won't activate when clicked.

My iMovie window is stuck behind the Dock. When I get it out from behind the Dock and click it, it won't enlarge to standard size and won't activate -- it just disappears behind the Dock again. When I quit iMovie and restart, the same problem remains. I have had my Lion mac for 4 years and this is the first time I have a window that is stuck behind the Dock and won't activate when clicked.

    Hi kiatmin1,
In order to get the window out from behind the Dock, you may need to hide or move the Dock.  This article describes using the Dock preferences to do this. Though the article says it is for a later version of the Mac OS than the one you have, the process is the same -

  • Won't shutdown or restart unless hard boot - SMCFanControl Application

I have quite a bit of installed hardware so I thought SMCFanControl would be a good idea. However, it seems that I can reproduce a problem I'm having when utilizing the SMC app.
    Problem:
    1. Won't shutdown or restart unless a power boot is performed
    2. Many applications lock up and won't even force quit.
    3. Can't reboot locked apps after force quitting when I re-click in dock.
    Noticed:
I don't seem to have a problem unless I've at some point started ( or even after I've manually quit ) SMCFanControl. BTW I don't have it to start on login. But once I've used SMC after booting, no matter what, that is when the issues seem to begin. So I tried quitting prior to shutdown. Didn't work.
Question: Has anyone else experienced unexplained lock ups, non forceable quits on apps, no shutdown or startup without boot, whom also has SMCFanControl? Has anyone found a solution to this problem as I REALLY NEED some sort of cooling mechanism. Because without SMC, I'm running about 150 farrenheit and I can't get the room any colder without locking up myself!
P.S. I've tried resetting the PRAM or VRam or whatever Ram is reset when you power up, holding the power button in while then pushing Command, Alt, "R" at the same time until it does that long beep.
The only solution found so far is unnacceptable, which is leaving SMC turned off permanently.
    Thanks,

Well Bababooey if you're comparing yourself to a Apple Genius Bar then you should already know my answer, your snarky remark get a snarky reply.  Why would I go to a salesperson to fix my computer problem when I can go directly go to the source itself.  I used to sell Apple computers over 8 years ago and was apple certified before the Genius bar existed. If I am to go about fixing an issue I can't fix on my own I will go to the source itself meaning Apple's programmers and developers - being UI UX Developer myself I know they should have QA'd all platforms and troubleshooted any arising issues.
This was also the first time in the 20 years I've been using a Mac that I even attempted to go on this forum which i thought would put me in connection with a certified Apple representative.  This turned out to be a complete waste of time just being a public forum with no Apple employee involved.  I was hoping to find a quick fix but in turn I was only frustrated with stupid responses such as yours that were in no way an answer to my original question.
BTW I fixed the issue on my own and without your help or Apples help. I'm glad if all forums point here regarding this issue because I now have the answer. The answer I was looking for from someone earlier was as simple as this {Download Maverick and reinstall the platform - it will take an hour to do but afterward 10.9.2 was installed and my computer is now able to shutdown and restart without having to do a hard boot.}  No more software update bar at top and no problems with my drive which I told both you and Grant - I know my computer better than you and I've probably been using them longer than you.
So again Babowa you were so wrong...... and I am right.
Again anyone having the same problem, I suggest reinstalling Maverick and you'll be suprised 10.9.2 will work fine.

  • Mavericks 10.9.1 won't shutdown or restart

Just upgraded to 10.9.1 Mavericks. Since upgrading, my MacBook Pro won't shutdown or restart; nothing happens after instigating, then after a few minutes a dialogue box appears saying an open application prevented the action.
I have tried to upgrade to 10.9.2 via the App Store but it requires a restart to complete... Same with using the direct downoad link from the Apple site. No external drives or peripherals attached via USB or Firewire. In order to shutdown I have to force it by holding down the power button. Otherwise the system is functioning fine.
Any ideas? If you need system logs just point me in the right direction...
    Cheers guys

It appears there was some element of Chrome or Mail which was preventing the shutdown/restart sequence. Looks like I've fixed it by searching for Mail processes in Activity Monitor and force quitting those, and trashing Chrome (also using AppTrap to delete the prefs too) and reinstalling Chrome.
Just in case anyone else has this problem when upgrading to Mavericks.

  • Video/Movie won't play when exported as a PDF.

    Hello,
I am creating an interactive PDF using CS5 to display video work. Unfortunately, the video won't play when exported as an interactive PDF, I am just left with blank space. I find this very odd as it plays in preview and also when exported as a SWF but that file type is unsuitable for the project.
Initially when I exported it I got this message: "One or more of the interactive elements are clipped in ways the pdf files can't reproduce...." Obviously, I have ensured the file is resized correctly and also tried .mov, .mp4 and also .flv file types with no success. I have also checked the simple things like ensuring all the right boxes are ticked when I export.
This is not the first time I have embedded video but it is the first time without success despite following the same pattern. Any ideas as to why this would be and how to fix it?
    Thank you,
    Laura

Use Flv or f4v format, after you have placed video into your layout, make sure that you don´t scale or crop video frame at all.
(Whren you File > Place a video, you will have a loaded cursor with video icon. Click the empty spot on page with loaded cursor, don´t draw a rectangle or click on the top of some exisiting frame)
It´s important that you have your video in 100% encoded size in your layout. If you need to scale or crop it, load that video into Adobe Media Encoder and do it there, and re-encode the video to the correct size and shape aftrwards.
Adobe Media Encoder ships with InDesign.

  • My Itunes won't open when I click on the program.

My Itunes won't open when I click on the icon/program. It will flash like it's going to open on the bottom bar on windows 7 but then doesn't do anything, I have tried deleting it and redownloading it, however this still hasn't done anything. What can i do??? Thanks.

Can you right mouse click iTunes icon and choose "Run as Administrator"?
    If this fails:
Try SCAN your Windows system files for possible corruption:
Go to command prompt (START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES right mouse click "command prompt" and choose "Run as Administrator"
    type in
    sfc /scannow
let Windows fix any system files that need to be repaired.
Restart the computer if it did actually repair any files.
