Panels Blank in CS4

I have a problem where quite often the panels in CS4 show nothing -- they are blank. This includes, color, swatches, character, etc. (all of them). I did a search on this site and see where someone thinks it is tied to using Spaces. Is this true, and if so is there a way around it? I can sometimes get the panels to come back with info in them if I change the workspace from one to another -- for example going from Essentials to Typography and then back again.
I have been trying to organize my working environment and Spaces seemed like a good way to keep my graphics work from my email/web surfing clutter, but if CS4 can't handle this then I guess I will have to go back to my old way of working.
It happens in Illustrator as well (not really in Photoshop).

PS. Using CS4 under Snow Leopard on a MacPro (2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon) with 6GB RAM

When we recently upgraded to CS3 from CS we also started seeing that behavior with the swatch panel. But tinkering with the panel (collapsing, minimizing, closing, reopening) at some point would solve the problem. I'm not sure exactly what the solution is, but it was a simple jiggering that solved it.
We also have seen for some people certain panels go completely blank in InCopy (such as the character panel) on some machines on their login but not on other machines with their logins. This was solved by deleting some files on their C drive (application data files for Adobe InCopy). Our environment certainly might be far different than yours, though, so I don't know that this would apply for you.

Using SDK to create custom XMP panel in Bridge CS4

Using the SDK materials how exactly does one go about creating their own custom XMP panel for Bridge CS4?
I feel like I'm getting close- I was able to copy the BasicControlSamplePanel folder from SDK to my local C drive @
C:\Documents and Settings\tony\Application Data\Adobe\XMP\Custom File Info Panels\2.0\panels
I figure once that file is in the right place I can simply modify it to get custom fields
Now when I did this I noticed in Bridge when rightclicked on an image and clicked file info- the BasicControlSamplePanel tab was visible but upon clicking on BasicControlSamplePanel tab there was nothing in this dialogue box. Tried restarting computer- and still nothing- seems like it is the correct folder what do I need to do to get the properties to show up

Links do not appear in links panel in inDesign CS4

I don't recall when this happened but I no longer have any links in the Links Panel in inDesign CS4 in ANY of my documents old, new, it doesn't matter. If I package a file it gathers all the links if I need to update a link I have to go to the original link outside of inDesign to find it. I have found other problems like this in other forums but have not been successful with the solutions.
Can anyone please please help me with this??

Thumbnails disappeared in Pages panel in InDesign CS4

The thumbnails that show the page spreads and the master pages have disappeared in the Pages panel of ID CS4 (on Windows XP SP3). I can't figure out (a) what caused them to disappear or, more importantly, (b) how to get them back. In the Panel Options, I have Show Thumbnails checked for both Pages and Masters, and all 3 of the Icons options checked. Any suggestions on how to get them back would be appreciated.

In followup, I tried to reinstalling ID4 -- a painful process. That didn't solve the problem. So I tried unchecking display thumbnails vertically. That worked in that the thumbnails for both masters and pages displayed correctly horizontally. I then rechecked display vertically and they disappeared again.

My front panel blanks while I use the panel bounds property

When I execute the PanelBounds property of the front panel, the panel seems to blank for a brief moment allowing me to see the desktop and then reappears. I am wondering how to prevent this behavior or approach the problem in a different way. Any ideas?

Here is a demo version that demonstrates my issue.
Open the dummy user interface (UI.vi) and the main program (Main.vi). Run Main.vi. See how the UI flashes when changing areas of interest. I can see the desktop during the transition since the front panel blanks.
Tip: Close the front panel with Alt-F4 since it will be full screen.

In Photoshop CS4 there's something like Edit> Preferences> Interface> Remember panels locations
How do I lock panels in the CS4 Bridge?

Helas, CS4 does not 'remember' the settings as saved in a new workspace.
Once you have (re-)started the computer the bridge has to be re-arranged again.

Creating XMP panel in Flex CS4

I'm trying to make a custom XMP panel for Photoshop CS4 using Flex Builder 3. I just got Flex, so I'm trying to learn it. I downloaded the XMP fileinfo SDK and was following the directions to open a new XMP panel project. I've installed the JAR plugin. After I put in my panel/project name and click finished, it generates the flex code and I get an error stating: There is an error at line 99 of your MXML document: The "TestPanel" tag has invalid syntax.
Does anyone know what I'm suppose to do?
Here's lines 98-100:

     </mx:TabNavigator>

Hi,
don't worry about this "Error 99", its just a problem of the layout view in Flex.
It is a bit confusing that there are two classes with the name "TestPanel":
one is the actual panel and the other a small test programm to debug the panel.
Please open the other class "com.examples.panels.TestPanel", which is the actual panel you are supposed to extend.
Sometimes its easier to work in the source code view.

Flash panels crashing Photoshop CS4

Flash panels crash Photoshop CS4 under the following conditions:
1. The "Auto-Collapse Iconic Panels" option is activated under Edit > Preferences > Interface.
2. The flash panel is collapsed to an icon.
3. You click on the panel icon to display it and run a filter plugin from the flash panel.
The crash happens when you run the filter plugin from the panel or after you click OK on the plugin dialog. Sometimes the crash happens after the plugin was applied and you do something else in Photoshop.
I was able to reproduce the problem with my own ThePluginSite panel and the Blow-Up panel of Alienskin.
If the "Auto-Collapse Iconic Panels" option is deactivated, there is no crash.
Can this problem be fixed in Version 11.02 of Photoshop CS4?

What does this have to do with the SDK? Does it crash in a plugin that you wrote using the SDK?
Or are you just trying to report a bug in the flash panel code? If so, use the normal bug report form, and include details so we can work with Alien Skin to resolve the problem.

first, close your cc desktop app.
then, rename the opm.db file by:
    navigate to the OOBE folder.
        Windows: [System drive]:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE
        Mac OS: /User/<username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE folder
    and rename the opm.db file to opm_old.db, eg
finally, launch your cc desktop app.

CS Review panel blanks out

My CS Review panel blanks out (see below) when I leave photoshop. In order to sort things out I have to use the CS Live menu on the top right and "create new review" or of course restart photoshop.
This is on Mac OSX 10.6

I recently installed ID CS5. I've never had anything but a blank review panel since my installation a month ago. The online services work just fine, I have a basic annual subscription to CS Live, I've set up a couple of new reviews and uploaded several Parts, but nothing appears in the review panel. It looks just like the one posted earlier in this thread. I've got the most recent version of Flash Player. Help needed. David Dunn

My kuler panel in InDesign CS4 is blank.

Perhaps the extension is missing? I can open the panel from window-extensiion-kuler but it is just a bland panel that says kuler at the top. Is there a way to reload the extension. Anyone have any ideas?

I had a similar issue. Turns out it was my graphics card.
I think you can still get into the options, try move the panel, does anything show up?
Does the Mini Bridge Panel work? If you're having the same issue, again try to move the panel and see if anything shows up while you're dragging it.
You should see a "Settings" button.
Click that.
Click on "Appearance"
Turn off "Colour Manage Panel"
That's what fixed it for me.
