Panic. All my email has disappeared from iCloud. I did not delete it, and now it's working again, but only from today. What happened to my old emails?

Sorry for the long header, but this is my first question.
Today, for no apparent reason, my iCloud inbox/sent items/junk/trash everything has disappeared from all my devices. I checked iCloud, and there's nothing up there either. I did not delete all my email, either intentionally or by accident.
Meanwhile, iCloud is now working again, but all the old mails are gone, I'm hoping not forever.
How do I recover all this missing material, which is essential both to my business and personally?

I'm in the same position - this morning all my emails on iCloud have vanished.
Luckily I use an IMAP account in Entourage to keep copies on my machine, and I have a backup where all the emails are still visible. But if I connect ot iCloud using entourage they all vanish from entourage as well, so until this is resolved I cannot connect using entourage.
I have another iCloud account I hardly use, and that's working fine. Similarly my wife's account is also working fine - all her emails are visible in iCloud and in entourage.
Anybody had a successul way of dealing with this ?

Have you checked whether the emails are visible at http://icloud.com ? If they are, it's a problem between your Mac and the website; sign out in System Preferences>iCloud and sign back in again.
If they aren't, then it's a server problem and you need to contact Support. If you currently happen to have AppleCare, either because you recently bought Apple hardware or have paid to extend the inititial period, you can contact them here:

You will need the serial number of the covered hardware.
If you are not covered by AppleCare, then - in common with other free email services - there is no free support and you may be asked to pay a fee; if so you should argue that this is a problem they've caused (it's not the first time, by the way) and you shouldn't be charged.

I am unable to call up a folder from my documents files in pages. I haven't accessed it in a while but did not delete it and now cannot find it either through finder or a search of all saved documents. Not in my trash either. Where did I hide it?!?

Try Find Any File (also available in the Mac App Store). This will find hidden & invisible files as well as those in the various Libraries.

When you share an iCloud account, any data you sync with the account is merged, and any actions you take on one device (such as deleteing contacts) is synced to all other devices sharing the account. To avoid this, each person's device(s) should have a separate iCloud account with a separate ID. (You can continue to share your iTunes account; it does not need to have the same ID as the one used for iCloud.)
To create separate icloud accounts, decide which iPhone will be keeping the current iCloud account. On the one that will be changing accounts, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud. The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.) When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone. Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom). Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge. This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, to un-merge the data you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (such as deleting the other person's contacts from your account, and vice versa).
As for recovering the deleted contacts, you can try restoring her phone from her most recent backup. This may recover the contacts, however it often doesn't. Restoring to an iCloud backup has to be done in the initial setup process. If she have any data on your phone now that is not in the backup that she wants to save she will need to do that first. Then go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings. You will then go through the setup screens as you did when the phone was new. When given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup. Be sure you are connected to wifi and your charger as this will take some time to finish.

You can eirther I think go on ITunes or if you can get to settings you would just go to iCloud.

Have you contacted your email provider to make sure there are no problems on their end? If they say their email servers are working properly, check the outgoing and incoming mail servers entries on your iPhone to make sure both are entered correctly. Enter the outgoing mail server even if the account setup indicates that is optional.

Suddenly all of the content is gone tho I did not delete any of it. (The apps are present but there's no content.

I had three pages of content in my "notes" app and several months of info in my "calendar".
Yesterday all the imput was gone, the apps are empty of my imput.

I've had the same problem with notes. Also, after updating my iPad 2, all the text has disappeared from a book I bought to read in Books or iBook (Mickey Mantle biography). I've tried changing the font but to no avail. The title page and table of contents page are still visible. Can anyone help?

k, so I tried installing the new update for itunes and now it wont work at all. it says that the mobile device isnt installed. i have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes 4 times now.

Yes I'm aware of that. The procedures are also for trying in cases where iTunes can't be reinstalled due to a "Could not start Apple Mobile Device service" message.
If you're getting a different error message relating to the Apple Mobile Device Service (or Apple Mobile Device Support) when you try to reinstall iTunes, post back to let us know what that error message says. (Precise text, please.)

The post where I found the links is from Thursday, June 30, 2011. The links were attached to the word '''Flint''' in first paragraph, the name '''Elizabeth''' in the last paragraph and also the word '''surprise''' in the last paragraph.
Earlier, I only noticed the word surprise in a different line was highlighted. I went into blog edit and removed and replaced the word with something else when I couldn't get rid of the link. When I went back to view the blog these other words were highlighted.

Hundreds of my email addresses that were in my personal address book have disappeared. I did not delete them and I would like to recover them. Help!

Hundreds of email addresses have suddenly disappeared from my personal address book on Thunderbird. Gone. Previously, I would begin to type in a name and the system would complete it, now that is only possible if the email is stored in the address book. Some email addresses remained, but most have been wiped out. What happened? Where did they go and are they recoverable? This happened within the past week. Thanks for your help!

First, don't try to find and reimport or move photos via the My Photos search in the left hand pane of a Finder window. That's a sure way to further damage a library.
Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.

Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Alias disappeared...I did not delete

An alias of mine has disappeared. I'm not sure how long it's been gone, but I keep receiving the "Waiting Period in Progress" message, which of course is frustrating. I never deleted the alias, as I use it for professional correspondence (job applications, association memberships, etc.).
Since this was NOT my error, how can I go about having this fixed? I can still receive email to that alias, I just can't send anything out from that alias.
This is incredibly frustrating.

I just encountered a similar event. Went in to create my first iCloud alias and as expected, noted a line below "Create an alias" that indicated I had 3 of 3 remaining. So I created one, and hit "done" just as I spotted a typo (clearly my fault). I deleted the goofed-up alias and went to create a corrected one and got the "waiting period" message, even though the indicator still showed that I had 3 of 3 available.
I am not an email sophisticate so I don't know what scammish behavior can be done by swapping a lot of aliases around, so I am baffled as to why something like correcting a typo locks me out of the system for a week when I have 3 available alias slots. I could even see locking one of the three slots, but why not let me work with the other two? This seems far more like a video-game penalty than a consumer service... and as I need the email this is really quite inconvenient.

I have firefox 6.0 and the cache was recently deleted from my computer. I did not delete it and I was wandering if anyone knows why the cache would be deleted entriely? I just upgraded, does that clear the cache when you update?

I found the answer myself - just reinstall the App from the Blackberry web site, and overwrite the existing one when it tells you it is the same version.
Somehow, it reacts with the phone and puts it all back the way it should have been.
