Panic Attack -- getting more often in past few hours

Hello. I'm not sure if anyone can help me to dignose the cause of panic attack and more importantly know how to fix the problem.
I'm using Photoshop CS5 and when I zoom in or scroll document up and down, panic attack happens. I thought the problem might be Wacom tablet but even when tablet unplugged (usb), the problem still occurs when I use scrolling on trackpad.
I never had this problem before. The problem began few hours ago and now it is getting more often like every 10 min. Below are the report.
Any help will be appreciated!

You have the MacBookPro6,2—the Edsel of Macs. It may have the logic-board defect that was covered by a recall program that has now ended.
Residents of the EU may be entitled to warranty service for up to six years after purchase.
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider, to have the machine tested. The routine hardware diagnostics used by service providers do not detect the fault. There is a specific test for this issue that Apple calls "VST" (for "Video Switching Test.") Ask for it. A "Failed" result means that the fault is present.
You may be quoted a price of about $300 (in the U.S.) for a "depot repair," which involves shipping the unit to a central repair facility and takes about two weeks. For that flat fee, anything found wrong with it should be fixed, not just the logic board.
Sometimes the replacement part is also defective, so be prepared for that possibility. If you decide to pay for a new logic board, test thoroughly during the 90-day warranty period on the repair. Some owners have reported that they went through as many as three replacement boards before getting one that worked.
If you don't want to pay for the repair, you may (or may not) be able to work around the problem by disabling automatic graphics switching. To use the discrete graphics processor, you'll need a third-party utility to switch to it manually.
Often the problems start after an OS upgrade. If the upgrade was recent, and you have backups, then you can revert to a previous OS X version.

For the past few hours I have been trying to download ios 7.0.4 from itunes onto my iPhone after trying many times it would give me a error saying network failed! then i tried to download Ios 7.0.4 manually and then put it on but it keeps failing? i have tried everything that i have came across and nothing seems to work please help!

I venture to say you have a Windows PC.
If so, before beginning the download try temporarily disabling your antivirus, anti-adware, anti-spyware, and any other anti-whatever that is required with the insecure OS your computer is running.

  • I cannot get more than 12 to 14 hours out of a full charge, and with a new battery.  Is the phone dying?

I cannot get more than 12 to 14 hours out of a full charge, and with a new battery.  The battery has been charged at least a dozen times, so I know it's at full charge.  Is the phone dying?

Do a Li-ion battery rebuild. Do a full 6-8 hour charge with device in sleep mode, next run it down to about 45-50 % and then a 4-5 hour charge. After that use your phone and take it down to 30%. Another 6-8 hour charge and then down to no lower then 20-25% and one more full 8 hour charge. At that point your battery should be rebuilt back to a normal life cycle. This should eliminate your battery problem.

  • Has anyone received a shipped email within the past few hours?

Or have they stopped it? Still haven't gotten mine and waiting. Just wondering if they are still sending them out. Past few hours or even since this morning. Thanks!

  • I dont get more than 2-2.5 Hours out of my MacBook Air (at lowest settings)

I have a serious problem with my MBA. I mainly use it to take notes at University. So my normal usage is: Screen brightness turned to the lowest possible point, WLAN+Bluetooth OFF and Word running.
How many hours do I get? If I'm lucky, 2.5! And I'm not surfing, I dont play any fancy games, I'm just taking notes. Most of the time the screen is completely turned off, because I dont take notes every 2 seconds.
How in the **** did Apple come up with 4.5h of wireless work? If I turn on the WLAN, set the brightness to 40% and surf the Web, I'm lucky if I get 1.5hours out of my battery.
According to iStat my battery life is at 88% with abou 60 cycles. But I'm seriously considdering to take my MBA back to the Apple Store, because it's pretty much useless for me right now with less than 2h of battery life.
Are you guys getting any better results? I googled and I found reviews that said they were able to surf the web for "close to 4 hours" with brightness at 40%. HOW is this possible???!

You should definitely be getting more than 2 hours (or so) with the configuration you're currently using. Curious, what does your battery statistics look like... Give a full charge, start using it in the configuration you normal use it and copy/paste the info (after about 20 minutes of use).

On a side note, I've seen significant battery improvement on my machine when backlight is set to max versus 20-30%. It's approximately 25-30 minutes of additional run time over a consecutive run time from 100% to 5% battery.
Secondly, AppleCare does NOT cover the battery replacement "for free." There are specific requirements that would qualify a battery for a replacement under the limited one-year warranty and AppleCare but it's not a "gimme."

  • Doing a check on blocking in the last few hours - use sysprocesses dmv?

I want to see blocking that is not only happening now, but has happened in the past few hours.  Additionally, Id like to capture the statement that was causing it.
Can I use a combination of Sysprocess and DBCC Inputbuffer to get this?  Im building a "logging" DB to capture various metrics about several databases and systems.

No, you cannot get it that way.

  • Firefox taking up to 3 GB ram after a few hours

Long story short, Firefox RAM usage gets really high after a few hours causing it to not display pages correctly (e.g. Google turns out all black at 3GB usage)
    Addons:
    Youtube Center
    Youtube Unblocker
    Web.de Mailcheck
    selectivecookiedelete
    Adblock Plus
    Plugins:
    Shockwave flash, rest is disabled
I did not have this problem before. I moved everything from the Mozilla folder in C:/users/USERNAME/appdata/roaming to a new pc (cause Firefox Sync is shit and doesn't even host EVERYTHING in its cloud), updated to 29.0.1 and it started to get these problems. All i can do is to close it down, wait a few minutes (cause the firefox process also runs hours after i closed the actual window; I have to shut it down manually with taskmanager) and restart it again just to repeat it every 1-2 hours.
I always love mozilla on PC (even though it's bad on Android) and am really disappointed.
The ram usage currently is more than Final Fantasy XIV on maxed out settings (firefox.exe 322.752 K, ffxiv.exe 300.000 K)
Fix this please, otherwise I am forced to switch to another browser.

Even though this has indeed run down the ram usage, the problem didn't exist before the update. I saw a video wrapping up the adblock-firefox problem:
The uploader navigated to this page: http://vimcolorschemetest.googlecode.com/svn/html/index-html.html
Basically displays 300 i-frames, and the ram usage was at 300.000 K
After installing Adblock Edge (EasyList Germany), the ram usage skyrocketed to 1,2 gb in a few seconds.
Thing is, adblock basically loads the easy list to check for adverts 301 times, causing ram to be this high
According to this blog (https://adblockplus.org/blog/on-the-adblock-plus-memory-consumption), the devs claim to have given the addon a global rule, which brings us back to Firefox 29.0.1
I honestly think firefox has a problem there
And for those who are interested, this is the video i was talking about:

  • My MBP suffers from DAILY "kernel panic" attacks.  This has happened ever since I downloaded Lion.  It appears to happen much more often than the Apple support page suggests it does.  Once the MBP re-boots, it works fine, zips along in all programs.

My MBP suffers from "kernel panic" attacks on an almost daily basis.  This has occured ever since I downloaded Lion.  The Apple support page suggests that this is a rare occurance, but it happens to me almost every day.  Most often, if I let the computer go to sleep or close the lid, I'll find that it won't "wake up" without a complete re-boot.  It always sends a report to Apple and for a couple of days I thought the issue was resolved, but now it's happening again with increasing regularity.  I've reinstalled Lion once already... Any suggestions?

  • My mac is runing slowly and the spinning wheel is on more often. How do i get it to run faster?

My iMac is running more slowly than usual, with the spinning wheel coming on more often and interrupting my work. Is anyone able to assist me in making it run faster, as it was before?
    Thank you.

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
Take these steps when you notice the problem.
    Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the page that opens.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?

    I've done just that.
And another on the finder column bug in list mode.
And a few more in the pipeline if I find the motivation: I'm afraid my long relationship with Apple is flagging. They are excessively focussed on consumer goods and leaving their core business to wither away.
Maybe more serious users aren't profitable to them, and they are happy to let it wither.
So presumably they are happy if we wander off and start focussing on all the open source  unixes out there.
p.s. not happy with general Apple trends since about 10.6.8, can anyone tell ?

  • I have a Canon MX882 and more often than note get an error message saying the printer is not connected. I check the printer and the get the message that the access point is accessed. I have reloaded the software and it worked for awhile. Any ideas?

I have a Canon MX882 printer and more often than note get an error message that says "Printer not Connected." When I check the printer itself, I get confirmation that the access point is connected. I tried reloading the software and that seemed to have solved the problem for awhile but I'm experiencing the same problem. Any ideas what is causing this?

Did you delete all receipts with iDVD in the file name  with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder before installing the new copy?  If not then do so and delete the new application also.

    Hi Tracie,
I upgraded to Maverick OS X 10.9.5, numbers spreadsheet is saved. Upon re-opening, it appears to be frozen, a warning "file is invalid as index.xml file is missing". I checked, and the file is not "locked". This appears to occur only with using the new numbers app. When I open previous spreadsheets from old iWorks, no such problem occurs.
How did you resolve your problem?
    Would appreciate any help here.
    Thanks,

  • Already bought iWork. How do I get the App Store to recognize App purchases that I've made over the past few years?

I know I'm not the only person experiencing this issue, but I can't find who else has a solution. Essentially, I've been buying Mac Apps over the past few years and using them frequently. Now the App Store exists. Awesome. But how do I get the App Store to understand that I have all those past purchases and serial numbers? I'd love to download the Apps through the App Store because it's a better system of downloading and updating apps, but that convenience isn't worth the extra $300-400 I'd spend re-downloading all those apps.
Does anyone have any advice or experience with a work around to this?
    Thanks in advance.

As Carolyn has told you, you cannot opt Apple apps that you have acquired from some other distribution stream into the MAS stream. Period. It does not work that way. It will not be working that way. And many folks have come here wanting it to work that way over the last seven months or so that the MAS has existed.
If your End User License Agreement does not allow you to install the apps that you have on your new Mac, then the only way to get it today for the new Mac is to buy it from the MAS. The MAS apps use a different type of DRM and there are no serial numbers involved, they are tied to your Apple ID. If you are not ready at this time to purchase apps from the MAS then I would remove the apps from any older Macs and install them on the new Mac to transfer your EULA there. Then when a major paid upgrade becomes available in the future opt that app into the MAS by buying it through the MAS. That should be the only way to get the app in the future, Apple no longer is issuing boxed apps, just currently selling off any of the surviving stock.
