My Mac mini is restarting after waking up from sleep. I just purchased it in April 2012. Please help

One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

Have a late 2012 Mac mini 2.3 i7, 16GB (crucial upgrade) that when I shutdown, it promptly restarts. Tried the following, disconnect from UPS, put original 4 GB ram in, P-ram, checked power settings. Problem happened after a while, not immediately. Any suggestions?

Mac mini restarts after shutdown
I have a problem with my Mac mini. I choose Exit, and the computer turns off. After a few seconds the computer restarts again. Without that I started it!
The procedure may be repeated two to three times. See bug report presented after reboot. What could be the problem and what can I do about it?

Troubleshoot mac mini unresponsive after sleep --- bluetooth problems?
Hi,
my in-laws' mac mini has a hard time getting back from sleep sometimes, and this morning we lost some mission critical work because of this. The only peripherials it uses are a wireless keyboard (Hungarian layout bought in Hungary) and a magic trackpad (bought in the US alongside the mini). We tried restarting the mini and both wireless pieces multiple times, this did not help. The mini had Lion, and I presume it automatically got the 10.7.1 update last week (but I cannot check whether that happened overnight last night).
Is there anything else my family can do apart from trying to press some keys some times, press the power button of the wireless things, and press the power button of the mini briefly (to activate) or long (to power down and then restart)?
Did we lose bluetooth or the display?
Did Apple do anything about similar previous concerns?
Thanks.An update: this problem is observationally equivalent to having lost the display. I already had problems connecting a VGA display through the mini's HDMI port, but now the Thunderbolt might have lost the display too. I see that others are having similar problems, probably linked to 10.7.1. We'll see if the PRAM's reset helps.

Try this:
clone your system and repair it with Disk Warrior instead
Or try a clean test system install on another drive
A must: SmcFanControl 2.2 - a mere 400 rpm extra to keep air cooling up
Try to run w/o externals. MyBook included.
Is that a 7200.11 1TB? they had a lot of issues.
Run AHT off your OEM DVD.
2008 had to have EFI and SMC updates to deal with freezes on wake from sleep, and like all models, high inrush current. Hopefully you have a UPS and is 1500VA unit.
When you do hard restart from power button, you almost certainly add more directory errors and to files requiring immediate attention to repair and rebuild the directory; and to scan and repair and delete cache and temp files and folders. A must. Invest in bootable backups SuperDuper along with Disk Warrior (or TechTool Pro 6, maybe Drive Genius 3 but I'd rate that #3).
TimeMachine has its own bad habits, especially with Green drives and some externals.
Try to rule out everything and then add back one at a time.
And it may just be time to replace the 8800, very common, a couple threads this week, and it is 3 yrs old. Might want ATI 5870 or 5770. -
Mac Mini i7 After Yosemite update, sleep mode affecting internet connection
Hi,
I got a Mac Mini i7 for July 2014 everything was awesome. On Monday, October 27th 2014, I notice the port where my Mac Mini is connected, the light is amber colour. When this happens there's no internet connection for the Mac Mini and affects the router has it slows the connection. After doing the following:
1. Turn off Modem for 20mins (hard reset)
2. Turn off Router for 20mins (hard reset)-Router Netgear WNDR4000
3. Set Service Order
4. Change Ethernet Cable
5. Renew the DHCP
I found out the when the Mac Mini goes to sleep mode thats when connections drops. I test where i set it to 1min and voila the port is now amber colour.
I don't want to keep the Mac Mini i7 in "never" status has it decrease life.
Put hard disk to sleep when possible and Wake for network access are checked.
Of course before the update, everything was working fine. Any ideas is appreciated.

When I turn on my TV/AV receiver my Mac mini goes to sleep!?
This issue occurs regardless of whether the Mac Mini is in sleep mode or awake...
I have my Mac Mini connected to my HDTV, therefore I connect using an iPad as a remote.
When I turn on the TV and receiver (Onkyo), the Mac Mini will go in to sleep mode, even after showing the desktop with no problem (moments later it will turn off). This makes it very hard to wake up using any iPad apps, because even using wake on LAN functions these seem to have little effect. On some occasions I can use wake on LAN and this works, however most of the time this is unsuccessful. If the Mac Mini is already in sleep mode, I will of course have the same problems.
My main issue is that this is only started happening since upgrading to mountain lion and there was no problem before using lion.
Is anyone experiencing these issues and/or have any suggestions?Try restarting you computer by holding down the option key, this should give you the option to select your startup volume, select Macintosh HD.

Hello, everything was working fine until I accessed my mac mini from my old iMac G4 to share some files. Now my new Mac Mini won't sleep. Here is what I have done. Ejected the Mac Mini on the iMac. Turned off the iMac, stopped sharing everything on the Mac Mini including files, my printer and iTunes media and reset the PRAM. Still the Mac Mini won't sleep. It's set to it's defaults of 10 minutes to sleep the monitor and itself but only the monitor goes to sleep after the 10 minutes. Very frustrated...
Hello Euchre and thank you for replying. I have unchecked all the boxes within the "Sharing" options that I checked some time ago. When I did that, sharing was automatically turned off. This is a common if infrequent issue, but my new MacBook Air running 10.9.2 won't restart after sleep. I've connected it to a Thunderbolt display, and after sleep all I get is a finger pointer on the display and nothing else. Only shutting down and restarting works.
I've seen this issue in other posts, but it's never affected me until I replaced my previous MacBook Air with a new one.

Won't restart after sleep - beeps!
It didn't respond to a mouse click to restart after sleep mode. I pressed the power button. Grey screen restart - chime - now 3 tones repeating! I tried the PRAM process, unplugging, etc. What now?
Reseat Ram, if they are 1GB chips, you can also try removing both and putting in 1 at a time if you suspect 1 being faulty, but reseating the RAM would be the next thing I would do.

Mac Mini Won't Sleep after installing 10.4.6
My Mac Mini wakes itself up after just 1 minute of putting it to sleep mode. I've tried restarting my mini, and tried quitting all apps and disabling airport and bluetooth- but it still won't sleep! Anyone else experiencing this problem, I didn't have this problem with 10.4.5 and I've installed no other software since then...
This is for a Mac that won't sleep.
First, read things in Apple doc.#25801 on sleep settings.
USB devices and hubs often cause Macs to not sleep or wake quickly from sleep (notably HP printers and scanners, HP all in ones, and Cannon scanners). Disconnect all USB except for keyboard and mouse and try. If it sleeps, add one back at a time testing after each one to find the culprit.
If you've set your Mac to recieve faxes, it may not be able to sleep. It might also have a damaged preferences file.
If you use your Mac for faxing, open System Preferences. click Print & Fax, click the Faxing tab, and uncheck the Recieve Faxes On This Computer box.
If that does'nt work or you've never faxed on your Mac, go to Finder/Hard Drive /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration and delete the com.apple.PowerManagement.plist and com..apple.AutoWake.plist files (if your Mac asks, type your admin. password).
If the latter file isn't present in the folder, go to user name(probably your name)/Library/Preferences, delete the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist file, and reboot your Mac.

By default it gave itself permission to wake up the computer to check if a backup was needed. tomhorvat adds this; After few days of messing around I found out that I had desktop background (wallpaper) set to change every 1 minute.
After unchecking "Change picture..." in system preferences (under Desktop/Screen saver), my powerbook went to sleep all by itself.

Mac mini restarts on its own after shut-down.
The Mac mini will restart by itself about 10 minutes after shut down. I turned off all the restart options in energy saver. Funning 10.4.8 with the latest firmware instalation.
Any suggestions how to stop this?I have had this problem for a looooong time and I think I finally resolved it. Last weekend I was trying a demo of MacPilot 3 and found Elgato's EyeTV had two items in the Power > Events list. Apparently when you set EyeTV to start up the computer for it's schedule it restarts the computer randomly rather in a reasonable amount of time before the recording begins. Since there were two files, I think 1 was left over from previous EyeTV version and was starting up the computer even though I told EyeTV not to start the computer at a later date. Deleting both files seems to be the solution.

Mac Mini wont' Display Sleep after Yosemite Update
My Mac Mini is no longer going into Display Sleep. Instead I now see the Screen Saver. I have checked System Preferences | Energy Saver and it is definitely set to Display Sleep after 10 minutes (The default). What is interesting is that if I try to change the Display Sleep time (e.g. to 1 hour), when I go back into Energy Saver, it is back to 10 minutes - this doesn't look right! In fact none of the options (e.g. Wake on LAN) seem to stay changed.
This seemed to start after the update to Yosemite 10.10.1 a few days ago - but that might be coincidental. Until then Display Sleep had worked fine.
Any suggestions?
