Panic p.list

Hi, i have an iphone 4s, it has a problem that restart alone, i can look at the option "Diagnostic & usage" somthing what say something about the problem,
it has the date and panic.plist, for example: 2012-10-04-224642.panic.plist  i wanna know what that means and if this have repair or i have to use the waranty to change the device ?
i bought it at costa rica
Thanks

I went into my Apple store with a Genius appointment and they checked out my iPad, and agreed, "Yes, your iPad is rebooting itself. No, we don't know why. We can do a deep reset, or you can spend $249 to get a replacement iPad3."
I agreed to the deep reset.
When I got my iPad3 back it was at the familiar "Hello" screen, as a reset device. Whenever I added my AppleID then the device would reboot me back to the "Hello" screen.
The only way I could get my hard reset iPad3 to operate was skip the AppleID part on setup.
My confidence has evaporated that Apple understands how widespread this reboot issue is, and how much damage it has caused to once-loyal customers.

  • End All Kernel Panic Troubleshooting List

I have been tasked to put together an end all list to troubleshooting Kernel Panics. Please take a look at this list to verify if I missed any steps you would try.
I understand that there will be specific fixes to specific causes, and not all of these would be used in any one situation. Also not yet listed in specific or correct order that troubleshooting should be done.
Some list instructions on how to do the needed troubleshooting, some do not. This would be user specific, dependent on computer knowledge so I did not get into that yet.
    - Was a change just made, added ram, HD, card of any kind, software installed? Remove/uninstall and reboot.
    - Verify cables, connections and their proper installation and ensure that they are working properly.
    - Restart your computer.
    - Make sure that sufficient RAM and hard disk space is available for proper functioning of Mac.
    - Remove all peripherals down to monitor, keyboard and mouse.
    - Run Software Update.
    - System Scan with Tech Tool Deluxe.
    - Clean Cashes.
    - An incompatible login item could cause this symptom.
    - Selecting the "Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications" option in Network preferences can sometimes cause this issue.
    - open-source tool 'Rember'.
    - Reset certain privileges.
    - Remove fonts folder (10.3.9 and earlier).
    - Uninstall Any KEXTs To check the KEXTs that are running on your system currently, type this command in Terminal (Applications >> Terminal) and hit enter:sudo kextstat.
    - If particular app, delete Plists.
    - Verify & Repair Permissions.
    - App specific: Delete and reinstall app.
    - Apple Hardware Test.
    - Run FSCK Start up holding command and 's' to boot in single user mode. Type the following exactly as this with the spaces fsck -fy and then press the return key reset-nvram then press return, set-defaults then press return, reset-all then press return.
    - Start computer by pressing power button then holding down the Shift key.
    - Hold down the X key and choose Apple menu > Restart. This may force the computer to start up using your Mac OS X system. If the computer starts up, release the X key. Choose Apple menu> System Preferences, and then click Startup Disk. Make sure that the disk containing Mac OS X is selected.
    - Restart and immediately hold down the Option key. When icons start to appear in the center of the screen, release the Option key. Select the disk that contains Mac OS X, and then click the forward arrow to continue starting up.
    - Boot from the Install DVD. Restart holding down the C, does it boot?
    - Reset PRAM. Start computer by pressing power button and hold down Command Option P and R buttons at same time and hold until you have heard the start chimes 3 times, then release all buttons and let it boot up.
    - Hardware Test. Use the DVD that came with computer and press the power button and immediately insert the DVD and once it goes in hold the D key down. When it boots up hit return and then select which Hardware test you want to run, probably a good idea to do the extended test even though it may take an hour to an hour and a half to run through.
    - Reinstall Mac OS.
    - Erase and Install Mac OS X.
    - Contact Apple Inc.

Why not instead visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on diagnosing kernel panics. Additionally Apple provides a number of articles about kernel panics:
About "You need to restart your computer" (kernel panic) messages
    Kernel Panics on Startup
Mac OS X- "Broken folder" icon, prohibitory sign, or kernel panic when computer starts
Mac OS X- How to log a kernel panic
Technical Note TN2063- Understanding and Debugging Kernel Panics
Tutorial - Avoiding and eliminating Kernel panic
    What's a "kernel panic"? (Mac OS X)
You are just reinventing the wheel which is not really a good use of the forum.

    Sam,
OS X can read and write FAT formatted drives, which is the typical format of a USB thumb drive. NTFS is the native format of Windows, which is what the Paragon software was for. OS X can read NTFS files, but not write to them. I've used the Paragon stuff in the past. My guess is you had an old version that didn't play well with your version of OS X.

  • MacPro Kernel Panic when audio cable is unplugged...

    Hello,
My MacPro running SnowLeopard Kernel Panics when I unplug the speaker cable from the back.  No new hardware/software has been installed recently.  Any insight??
    thanks!

I think you need to post the panic dump listing for folks to help you.  There's no way anyone could guess based on no real information.

  • MORE kernel panics with 10.4.5

ok so i posted that i had kernel panics after updating to 10.4.1 etc. and after i installed the newest security update to 10.4.5 the kernel panics stopped...for half a month. now all of a sudden as april hits my screen keeps having little mini freezes(the curser freezes..then moves again after like 5 seconds..then another few seconds later my screen works again. grr. well apparently i also had "graphics card" panics the past 2 days. now as i mentioned i updated the security update and it fixed the driver issues that were mentioned as a problem with nvidia geforce2 graphics cards. now NOTHING has been changed on my comp and the panics are listing graphics cards as the i had before(listed below)
now as i type this i have had like 5 freeze ups. i have tried running disk utility and fixed permissions. and after i restarted after kp my screen was ALL messed up and showing lines and much stuff itwouldnt show icons unless i moused over them but my desktop pic wasnt complete either

hey thanks for your words of wisdom i will work thru to the best of my ability. my post wasnt complete as i would have liked it as my comp was driving me beyond insane so i just posted and quit to "walk away lest i KILL the machine". so i will add to it now. had another kp same ostensible reason. however after i restarted this morning the machine has been acting normal. so at least that allows me to go thru and try some trouble shooting things.
i have tech tool pro 4.1.1 which i believe is the newest update or at least as new as needed for compatibility and such. i ran it with no reported issues. i also have disk warrior(latest update) and ran that with no reported issues(tho i have heard that the new tech tool is superior). i DO have an external drive(maxtor one touchII). which before a driver upgrade was a source of issue with my system. but that was resolved easily. THEN i updated to the newest system point updates(10.4.1-10.4.4) and had problems with KP again IMMEDIATELY. listing grapics card as problem. well as update 10.4.5 listed nvidia graphics card driver updates in its list of features i managed(with much trouble) to update. still issues till i installed the security update then everything was honkydorey for about 20 days or so then all of a sudden graphics card issues. i WAS wondering if driver support problems could have damaged the card?
also however i remembered that i hadnt updated the system on my external(which i primarily use for storage and backup but my father installed Tiger on) OH says I that is still using the system that conflicts with the graphics card i will upgrade that...well i cant seem to do so. when i try to install the newest updates(one at a time 10.4.1-10.4.5) onto that system it starts to check the configurations and then suddenly says the installation failed/had errors and to try again. i assume that the packages are ok as they are the ones i borrowed from my father (since i was unable to download myself due to graphics card driver issues) to update my main comp and that worked fine.
i have at this point disconnected my external drive(temporarrily) as i suspect this contributes to the problem(not sure yet) but i would like to fix the problem not just avoid it.
i wouldnt have any problem wiping the system off of my external and just using it as storage again but i am not sure how to safely do that without losing my other files (i have over 19thousand music files(all legally bought tunes) stored there from loading my cd collection onto my comp. and not enuf room on my main comp to store them of course) i wonder if perhaps creating a file OUTSIDE they system for the music files should keep them safe? also how do i UNINSTALL a system? i have never done such a thing. or is there a better solution to update the system on my external?
thank you in advance for any advice you may have for me. and again thanks for the advice listed in the previous posts...i will definitly delve further into that.

  • Multiple daily kernel panics since upgrade to Snow Leopard

    Hi, all,
I upgraded to Snow Leopard early last week, and on average have about 3 kernel panics per day. (I haven't had any on this Macbook in the last 6 months of owning it). It's really starting to get on my nerves, and I can't figure out what may be doing it. I've been trying to read up on all the different kernel panic pages listed throughout the forums, but haven't been able to pin it down to anything yet. I figured I'd post the kernel panic report and see if anyone notices anything fishy. Thanks for the help!

Just had my first Snow Leopard kernel panic as well. It looks like the description of the possible cause is identical.
As far as I can see, the main difference (besides the different loaded kexts) is the message: "BSD process name corresponding to current thread: CIJScannerRegist" Does anyone know what that means?

  • Keep getting Kernel Panics-have important work coming up-please help

I am now in my 3rd reinstall of the OS this week. This time an Apple Genius did it at an Apple Store off their firewire drive. Every app and the OS is totally updated. My latest two Kernel Panics are listed below. It seems to always happen either when I have OSX Mail open and/or my Airport is on and connected to my Airport Express. Please let me know if you can make out what is listed below and what it means to me. Thanks!:

  • Recurring Kernel Panic from VShieldScanManag

I have long ago un-installed MacAfee, and removed all its pieces I can find. I removed "cma' from the startup, and I cannot find a single file et. However, I keep having kernel panics that list "VShieldScanManag" as the culprit.
I am also hacing disk problems that when I load my SL Disk, it finds a miscount in files and folders, one each, and I've repaired that twice now.

I used "App Cleaner" but then kept getting these kernel panics. The link you sent was for Windows, but I downloaded the installation package and ran the uninstall script and it said its done. Anyway, I think this might do it. If not, I'll reinstall for the third time. I found a demo-version download of the MacAfee here: http://download.nai.com/products/evaluation/virex/VirusScanfor_Mactel/v8.6.1/McAfee_VirusScan_for_Mac8.6.1.zip

  • SA_MAGIC header corrupt on ZFS causing kernel panic in S11.1 SRU5.5

I have a number of Sun Fire x4500s and x4540s running S11.1 SRU5.5. One of the x4540s has recently started kernel panicking within minutes of powering on and sharing its file systems over NFS (it provides user directories for a computing cluster). If I don't share via NFS, the kernel panics do not occur.
When I run mdb on the kernel panic coredump I get:
    \> ::panicinfo
    cpu 1
    thread fffffffc80e52c20
    message
    assertion failed: BSWAP_32(hdr->sa_magic) == SA_MAGIC, file: ../../common/fs/zfs/sa.c, line: 2079

    txg_sync_thread+0x244(ffffc1c0285493c0)
thread_start+8()In doing some google searching, I'm able to infer from similar lines of code in OpenSolaris (and various ZFS derivatives) that the point of this line of code is to ensure that a ZFS block has a particular header with the correct endianness. Lines of code just prior to this swap the endianness if its is incorrect (at least in these derivatives). For example:
[ZFS corruption probably from bad RAM|https://github.com/zfsonlinux/spl/issues/157]
    [FreeBSD kernel panic|http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-stable/2012-July/068882.html]
    [ZFSOnLinux Panic|https://github.com/zfsonlinux/zfs/issues/1303]
So basically, this assert ought to work unless the header was written to disk incorrectly. I've recently done a resilver since a disk had failed and I'm currently in the middle of a scrub with estimated 90h to go. It did fix about 12kb of mistakes on the scrub even though it was right after the resilver.
Nevertheless, I don't think this should be able to happen unless the redundant copies of this header were also corrupted.
I wrote a little script that loops over process IDs and addresses in the core dump and prints this for each
    echo $addr | awk '{print $1,"::pfiles"}' | mdb $DMPNO
The files that are open are all device files (eg./devices/pseudo/...) or things in /var, /etc, /lib, things like that. The user directories/files do not appear to be actively open in the core dump. That said, I cannot match the thread above to a process ID. So maybe there are open files that are not captured in the core dump
Since the machine will panic when I make NFS available, I am currently doing two things to try to resolve the problem:
    (1) a zpool scrub
    (2) "zfs send"ing a snapshot of every filesystem straight to /dev/null
The idea behind (2) is that eventually I'll read the bad block and force the kernel panic to happen. I'll infer from the log of the script which filesystem is bad and NFS share all the others.
You should assume that I can spell mdb, but not much more than that and everything I've done thus far has been mimicking things I have found in google searching.
Thanks for any advice the community has to help me fix the bad file/filesystem. I am happy to provide more details from mdb or whatever is needed.
    Tom

The output of fmdump is below. On March 27th, 3 disks were automatically identified as having too many errors and were pulled from their zpools. I replaced them on April 2nd (I believe) and, while they were resilvering, kernel panics started happening on April 6th. After several panic / reboot cycles, I disabled NFS and have not experienced any panics sense. The resilver finished sometime on April 7th (I think) and I started a zpool scrub relatively soon thereafter.

The output of fmadm faulty and fmdump -eV are quite long:
    https://pantherfile.uwm.edu/downes/public/fmdump_ev.txt
    https://pantherfile.uwm.edu/downes/public/fmadm_faulty.txt
I note a number of events on April 9th in the output of fmdump -eV. Maybe these are the scrub fixing things?

  • PM G5 Core Duo random kernel panics

A while back I saw a report (on MacFixIt) on Power Mac G5 kernel panics, which started with 10.4.3 and still randomly occur now that we have 10.4.6. They don't have an update of this report and I am wondering how to get rid off these kernel panics on a Dual Core 2 GHz PM G5's, short of downgrading to 10.4.2.
    I'd appreciate any suggestions.
    thanks
Power Mac G5 core duo 2 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Kernel panics usually happen because of directory
issues, bad drivers, bad hardware. If you can
access your data, the first thing to do is back it
    up:
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
If you can't access it, let me know first before
    proceeding.
Afterwards, see if there are directory issues:
    http://www.macmaps.com/directoryfaq.html
If there are no directory issues, and you have no
third party peripherals attached, and kernel panics
persist, then see if the hardware test that came with
the machine detects any hardware issues.
If no hardware issues are detected, and kernel panics
persist, then it is possible that the RAM went bad
and is simply undetectable, or there is an issue with
the hardware of the machine the test can't detect.
Be sure to only use Techtool Deluxe 3.0.4, or
Techtool Pro 4.0.4 or higher, when examing the
    hardware with Techtool.
If using the hardware test CD that came with your
machine, that should be fine too, as it is labelled
for your Mac model. It usually is combined with the
installer CD in the latest machines.
There are other possible kernel panic causes listed
    here:
    http://www.macmaps.com/kernelpanic.html
Actually I know all about the usual causes of kernal panics, directory etc, etc.
In this case, the infrequent and random kernal panics are cuased by something in OSX 10.4.3-10.4.6, becuase they only started after installation of 10.4.3 and this has happened on 2 machines, not one. This is a well known issue, since there was a report on MacFixIt about it as I said in my original post, but this report has not been updated and the issues has not yet been fixed.
The only solution I know off is to downgrade to 10.4.2, but that would negate all the recent recurity fixes rolled into 10.4.6. I am hoping that someone - Apple for example - could offer a better solution.

  • Mid 2010 Macbook Pro Randomly Restarts

Hi everyone and thanks for taking a look at my issue.
Let me give some back story first.
My MacBook was experiencing kernel panics and random restarts. I found information about the nvideo graphics card having an issue on this model and I took my MacBook into the Apple store to run the diagnostic test to confirm a flawed graphics card. The genius ran the test twice and it passed both times.
I explained the issues with the random restarts and the kernel panics and becasue I have AppleCare I left my MacBook Pro to have the logic board replaced last week. I picked up my MacBook Pro last Friday and I thought it was fixed until Sunday it restarted randomly and then restarted randomly 20 mintutes after that. Then about 1 hour ago it did it again.
So here are things I tried before I took into Apple:
    1. I repaird disk permissions
    2. I reverted back to Snow Leopard
    3. I installed gfxCardStatus and selected the Intel graphics card to use all the time
This is a very frustrating issue.
Here is the most recent panic report:

The other two panic reports listed firefox as a cause and mtmd on the other panic report
Another thing I noticed is that the left side of my MacBook Pro gets hot, but the right side is fine. That seems very strange to me. I know computers generate heat but
Maybe someone here can tell me what this means. If it's hardware related or software related.
I'll take it back to Apple if I need to. Thank goodness for AppleCare.
Thanks again for reading this and thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello there,
I'm also having the same issue.  Macbook book pro from 2010 and never had an issue untill now.  Just fully re formatted my hard drive and tested a few things in disk utility and everything looks fine.   When it restarts I get this notice up restart.

  • 10.9.3 crashing

Updated to 10.9.3 and now the Mini has a severe kernel panic 2 times daily.  It's highly frustrating, the screen locks but the mouse still moves so it looks as if the OS is still running but clicking is not responsive and logging in via Screen Share from another Mac times out.
Seems to happen if I leave the Mac alone for 15mins or more — so far has not crashed while in use.  Will try turing off all power save and screen dim modes to see if those are the problem.

There were only two panic logs listed even though I've had about 30 crashes in the last 72 hours.
Getting rid of Flash has helped out a lot. The computer won't crash every 10 minutes anymore giving me enough time to write to this discussion board.  But I'm still getting about 3 crashes a day.
Multiple restarts are required before the system can kick in again. Sometimes it will crash again as I'm entering my login password. Sometimes it will restart and ask me if I want to use english as the main language as in reinstalling the OS.
Here's a panic log from about a week ago when the problems first began. Going to start backing and see if I can reinstall from the beginning. Might have  to go back to Mountain Lion to get some work done.

I don't know how much longer I can deal with Mavericks. Haven't had this many crashes since windows 98. Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.

  • Caught in endless CD Boot error

I'm selling my MACBook G4 so I can purchase a new MACBook Pro. I wanted to use my OSX Tiger install CDs to do a fresh install and format the HD before giving it to the new owner but when booting to the CD I get a Panic error.
I'm not so worried about the Panic error as I would be able to delete my data, but I can't eject the CD. I get the panic error and can't eject. I've even tried to boot with Command-Option-O-F and then type 'eject cd' but that doesn't work either.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    What's a Macbook G4? There are iBook G4s, but no Macbook G4s.
Secondly, MACBook is not the name of the machine, it is MacBook as this FAQ points out:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=503342&tstart=0
The panic error may be due to a hardware issue with the computer, or a software issue. You will want to sell the machine with the original disks that came with the computer so they can troubleshoot the computer beyond the time you sell it. You can't use the Tiger disks from another machine on that machine, so that may be the cause of the panic. Also you can't install Tiger on that machine with disks that you used to install Tiger on another machine as that would be a license violation, unless you relinquished that license to them and bought a second.
Other causes of panics are listed here on this FAQ:
    http://www.macmaps.com/kernelpanic.html
If you lost the original disks that came with the old machine, call AppleCare to ask for a replacement set.

  • My kernel panic log doesn't have kext list

Usually kernel panic logs should contain list of kexts with their addresses, but my log have only the backtrace, but not the section starts with:
"Kernel Extensions in backtrace (with dependencies):".
It was exists few hours ago, but now its gone. Does it related to the value of "boot-args=debug=0x144"?
    Thanks!

I think I found out the answer -
The backtrace log shows no kext in addresses, only pure kernel...
This make the debug much harder...

  • HT1766 Why can't I restore from my icloud after my phone kept shutting off due to panic lists?

Why can't I restore from my iclould after my phone kept shutting off due to panic lists?

Oh, that. Yeah, I've done it when I got the printer. Thanks. But the ePrint is not the same as the Wireless printing. Firstly, I have to go through the hassle of sending an email and secondly, when I email the document to the printer, it takes 2 pages to print it out, whereas the Wireless only takes 1 page. So it's not only about saving the time, but also the paper and the colour.
This is driving me crazy. I am pretty sure that all the features've been set properly. The printer is connected to the same internet (Magnet****) as my i-phone and the computer. (Just with a little difference - the computer is connected to the internet router by a wire, the printer is connected wirelessly.) Both the lights on the front of the printer (Wireless, ePrint) are on continuously. The printer accepts all the printing jobs from my computer as well as all the ePrint jobs. Only my i-phone keeps telling me that there've been No AirPrint Printers Found. Even though it has worked. I really can't think of anything to fix it. Can you? Please?
    Thank you, Georgina.
