Panicking
Less than 10 minutes ago, I finally updated my Torch9810 to the new bundle. I had prepared myself for any disrepancies regarding removed infor through the blackberry protect. But when I got it out again, several of my apps remained, but I could not find the blackberyy protect. And when I went to my calender and the memo, everything was gone. And seriously, I need the stuff I wrote and registered on there...I had set my blackberry protect to back up every week, so I had no problems, but I can't find it.
I am seriously, seriously panicking. Over that all, I can't connect to the wireless internet. Rather, I am connected but the service is being stupid and annoying and refuses to accept that I am connected, so I can't even set up my emails or anything. Please, please, pleaaaaase tell me I can get it back. I know the email I registered with in the back-up. Would that be of any help at all? And why in the world is the app removed. Seriously.

Alrighty, the first thing we're going to do is take a deep breath. Go ahead.....I'll wait.................................
OK. We're going to get your stuff back for you. First of all, let's make sure Protect has really vanished from your phone. From your homescreen, go to Options>Device>Application Management. Look for BlackBerry Protect in that list.
I want to do this step-by-step so I don't write a whole encyclopedia of information that might not be relevant. Post back with your response to whether you found it in that list.
- If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated.

IPod failure after update : do not panick (too much)
This message is both to thank helpers on the forum that saved me from having to send my iPod to repair and to those of you who are (or about) to experience the same problem.
My profile :
40Go 4th generation iPod with 20Go music in, always handled with extreme care, used daily for 16 months (so out of warranty) without a slightest faillure, including ripping to my new computer.
PowerBook G4 under Mac OSX 10.4.6. Just to say my message won’t help PC users, sorry.
Connection Firewire or USB2.
My nightmaric experience of 2006-03-23 update.
After I had updated, I transferred a recent playlist OK onto the iPod but to my surprise read 0 playlists, artists, songs etc on the iPod screen and could not access any tracks.
Did the 5Rs several times with no success, ie different alarm signals would show (not the sad face icon though), the iPod would not connect or would refuse to disconnect or would freeze every app. on my computer which always get a bit scarying. Checked the iPod under disk utility found out several errors.
After much fiddling around and thanks to fantastic help on the forum (track these by browsing my posts), I think I can tell you now what to do if the same happens to you and help you to recover a fully functional iPod in a couple of hours. But beware that this only applies if you don’t have any physical damage of your hardware. My iPod never made the strange noises that many users report. I should add that I am absolutely convinced that it is the update that interferes with some iPod models and so just the software has to be reinitialized.
First try a 5R of course, but if this does not solve the problem (in my case it surely did not), switch to disk mode and connect your iPod. If it opens iTunes, quit iTunes and go to disk utility. First check the disk in the SOS panel. It will give you an idea of bad sectors and/or failure to complete. If the checking is OK proceed to erase with the security option « zero out data ». If the disk has bad sectors, you should first do a quick erase with the « don’t erase data » option, then check if the disk passes the check up. If yes return to erase and erase again by selecting « zero out data ». The computer will warn you that you are going to lose functions of the iPod but don’t worry, you will restore these straight afterwards. This reformatting will take maybe a couple of hours but you should see it progressing smoothly with the elapsing time moving on. After it is completed, re-check the disk once more. You are now ready to restore, and I recommend that you do it using a previous soft version, eg, 2006-01-10 for instance, not 2006-03-23 which initially caused the problem. It may freeze while restoring. Don’t panick and try restoring again. I was successful at my second go. Complete restoring, as asked on your computer, by plugging to power supply. Then enter your own settings, langage etc, and come back to your computer, go to iTunes and…
… I wish you that, a couple of minutes later, you have hundreds songs back onto your favorite music companion and that you are ready for hours of bog-free listening like I am now.
Just to end up, I’d like to thank all the helpers on the forum (Mitch, Lyssa, Jeff… and co.) who give a lot of their time to the community in avery friendly way. I am in touch with Apple so that if ever the problem happens to be reasonably frequent, they do release a note asap.
Best of luck to everyone don’t hesitate to contact me on this thread if you need more details on the procedure, I’ll try to help as much as I can but I am not an expert just a regular user of Apple computers and slightly ; ) addicted to music and daily use of iPod (so not so mad afterall… ; ).
PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.6) iPod 40G 4th genDon't give up HOPE ** this work for Mac users only**
so, after 4 days of trying the disk utility erase mode-- sometimes working sometimes not,,, ditto to all of these posts- my ipod seemed to have a hard drive failure the way it was clicking-- anyways-- here is what worked for me--
hold the middle button and play/pause until you see the check mark- (this puts the ipod into disk mode)
plug it in to your computer
open up the disk utility
choose Mac OS extended - **make sure the jornaled in not selected, and also **uncheck install OS9
then erase- you may get the question about naming your ipod if itunes opens and all that -- I'd name it, but make sure you check the option to manually update- you don't want to keep the box checked to sync with your itunes at this point-then eject it by using the eject button from itunes in the window on the left-
go to your ipod software updater folder (located in your utilities folder)---- here's the catch- the only updater that seemed to work for me- after 4 days of torment- was the
11-17-05 updater!- (I actually talked to a tech. on the phone and he said the latest update does not have a bug-yeah right, that's when all my problems started- but he said the one before it does!!- thanks for letting us know apple!)
so, double click it- hit restore - and wow- it actually worked- Good luck peeps- I know, myself, I was very disappointed in apple with this situation- My warranty ran out two months ago!- like many others I see here, I feared i was looking at another 300 dollars for the 30GB- but, alass it worked Amen- Let me know if I can help anyone- I'll check back on the board soon- to answer any questions i can
G4 Mac OS X (10.0.x) -
I had made a copy of the main revel file on my mac, and then i put it in my google drive folder for safety. I accidentally deleted one of the two libraries form my iPhone. I opened it up and panicked and thankfully I guess I had a backup of the other library in my spouses phone... but mine is still gone. I don't have them saved to my computer... the pictures are important and I really really need them back. Is there a way for me to get the pictures back from what I believed at the time was a smart way to backup when i made a duplicate of that main mac file to my google drive? The best way to let me know is my email... [email protected] I am really relying on you guys if there is a way?

Kernal panick after booting from SL install cd
Hello,
So, today, I wanted to install Snow Leopard since I don't like Lion. But now, every time I try to install SL, the computer loads the cd and after a while, a kernal panick message appears.
What should I do?Are you using any USB/Firewire peripherals other than the mouse and keyboard? Have you upgraded the RAM?
If not, then you might have to take it to your nearest Apple store. -

Sudden Kernel Panicking: MacBook 3,1; 4Gb; 10.5.4
Hi!
My Macbook suddenly started kernel panicking this afternoon. It's been very stable until this point. I'm primarily wondering what steps I ought to perform before contacting Apple, as I'm still within my 1-year warranty.
I've run a brief AHT run (with no results) and am letting the it loop over night. I'd not had any SMART indication on the hard drive or anything, though I have not tried to run disk utility yet.
The extra RAM I installed was installed in November or December when I first bought the machine. I did unplug my USB mouse and FireWire hard drive to make sure they were not related, though I've been using them consistently. I've not installed any new software recently that I can recall; the most recent (I think) was the 10.5.4 update, and some of the iPhone-related updates--although not iTunes 7.7. (I don't remember what exactly.) I'd used the machine all day without problems, until the panics started after I returned from a meeting.
The panic seems to be occurring after login, anywhere from 1 to 30 minutes, in my experience. At first I thought it was Safari, but that was not borne out in later testing.
Several of the kernel panic logs (at least in the automatic reporting tool) appeared garbled; one un-garbled one that I got off of the machine is as follows:

System model name: MacBook3,1 (Mac-F22788C8)Well, the Disk Utility check didn't help--it froze again soon afterwards. However, my next step was to fun fsck from single-user mode. That didn't help either. But, I then did a SMC reset before booting again--by unplugging the AC adapter and the battery--and it seems that the computer is stable now. I had it on all night without problems. Hopefully, it will run throughout today, and I can consider it stable.
Is there anything in the kernel panic log that might be a pointer to a issue with the SMC? -
I have been working hard on making a book in the Lightroom 5 book module for the past 6 months. I am close to being finished, and am doing my final edits. Suddenly, my book is only appearing as a 2 page blank book under the same heading, and has no images showing. When I go to the library, or develope module all the photos are still there, but under book module they are suddenly gone. Please help, as I am starting to panick!
First, are you 100% certain? In Library, double click the book. Does this take you to the "2 page blank book"? I assume yes, but let's be certain.
What version of Lightroom? 5.7 is the latest.
Restore a copy of your catalogue from a recent backup. Go to the book collection in Library, right click it, and choose Export as Catalog. This should create a small catalogue containing your book. Open it, and check it's right - if not, try an earlier backup.
If it's OK, then return to your main catalogue, rename the "2 page blank book" by putting "old" on the end, and use File > Import from Another Catalogue to bring the small catalogue into it. Does this solve the problem?

That is all of it. My mp3 player stopped being recognized at the same time I started receiving this message. The other kernel panick posts I have read occur either at start-up or during opperation, so the advice given to those people was of little use to me. HELP!Uninstall avast:

2008 Mac Pro Kernel Panicking Frequently
Guys, I'm throwing my hands up in the air. I'm at your mercy. Tell me to rub beets on the aluminum housing of the Mac Pro, and I will. Tell me to sing lullabies into my USB mouse, and I will. Tell me to reboot 3 times, and I will. I've come to that point
I've been experiencing a lot of kernel panics of late. Probably six kernel panicks today alone. This was happening on Mountain Lion as well as Mavericks, so I'm not going to jump on that train, but I'm really nearing the end of the easy fixes/obvious solutions to this problem.
What I've tried / What I think / What I've observed:
I've booted into apple hardware test and ran the long diagnostic, but nothing was found. I should add that since my computer doesn't have that hidden partition with AHT, I did have to boot off the old Leopard DVD that came with the computer. Not sure if its age makes a difference.
I've noticed that I can almost always reproduce the problem by downloading at high bandwidth rates. Today, I had my home internet speed bumped up, and minutes after starting some beefy downloads, the computer kernel panicked. As soon as it came back up, I resumed the downloads, crashed again.
One of my first thoughts was memory. I have four 2GB sticks of memory. I have tried swapping two of the four sticks out. Still crashed. Pulled those two out and put in the other two stick, still crashed.
I have a Samsung 840 250GB SSD drive. I've been running it without TRIM support but just today, installed Groth's TRIM Enabler. The computer has since crashed.
In addition, when I installed the SSD drive, about a year ago, I had to install the OS from scratch, so while I'm not ruling out any kind of OS corruption, it's not like the install is old. At the same time, I have to admit that I have not tried re-installing the OS, and if you guys ask me to, I will.
The next thing that I'm thinking of trying, but will be kind of a pain, is to replace the SSD with the original spinny disk, install Mavericks on there, and see how it performs. Can you guys recommend a good SSD tester to rule out the drive as the issue?
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

How do I uninstall and remove a .kext on Mac OSX:
http://superuser.com/questions/385/how-do-i-uninstall-and-remove-a-kext-on-mac-o s-x -
I just bought and backed up my computer and time machine with a "Seagate BackUp Plus for Mac". Now my time machine is empty. Panicked. can anyone help?
Lets start over...
Please restart the network.. shut down everything..
Restart in order.. modem.. router.. if different to TC.. or TC.. client devices.. wait 2min between each startup.
If the TC does not show up on the computer, in finder.. then we need more info.. what OS are you running?
Does the TC show up in Airport utility? Are you running wireless or ethernet?
If you still have issues.. plug the TC directly into the computer by ethernet.
Do a full factory reset of the TC.. and see if it now shows up.
Please tell us exactly what model TC it is and how old.. the A1xxx model number from the base will help if you don't know.
You take a screen shot of the TC opened in finder.
eg..
My TC is named Tardis4.. click on it.. and then open the data folder.. on this one called Tardisdata.
Then take a screen shot of it so we can see what the problem is.. screenshot.. with area selection.. control + shift + 4 .. the picture goes into the desktop.. and then you click the picture icon in the posting web page controls and select the picture. -
I decided to backup for the first time with icloud yesterday, and lost all my phone contacts! I am panicking because the backup is saying 0 and I checked the internet account on my pc,and it's only showing email addresses from my hotmail account. What to do? How to recover them!
Have they also gone from iCloud.com when you log in from a computer.

Kernel Panicking Suite of Macs? - help needed
I have just joined a college and have been given ownership of the Imacs - something I am quite new to.
Since students have come back after summer there has been issues with the 2008 Imacs in one of our rooms, they keep kernel panicking at random intervals.
They all have the same software running, and seem to take it in turn to panic and require a reboot. We get at least one a day, here is 2 reports I've pulled off 2 different macs.
As I say I'm new to macs, so unsure what is causing the panics - can anyone shed any light on this for me?

Kernel panick upon startup blue screen
Hey everybody, new to the forum, hoping you all can help me out. I'm using a 15" macbook pro and every time I start it up, I get past the grey apple screen, but as soon as it gets to the blue screen and my mouse appears, I get a kernel panick. This happens every time it starts up. I can use boot camp and boot up in windows, but I am unable to use the OS X side of my hard drive. HELP!
Hi sig,
and thanks for the link.
I failed to mention earlier that when i try to start in safe mode, it does the same, first gray logo with spinning circle, and then blue screen.
On repeat, I have a MAC OS X installation disk, which allows me to use the utilities, but doesnt get verified at the end of the installation process.
is the backup and fresh install the only solution left since all listed on that page has already been used? thanks again.

Panicking about kernel panics!
I can't repair this permission. I think it's causing kernel panics?
Permissions differ on "usr/bin/sqlite3", should be -rwxr-xr-x , they are lrwxr-xr-x .
If it's not this, do you know what might cause a kernel panic. It's kernel panicked once before the most recent OS update, but since that update it's panicked 5 times in 3 days or so. 2 or 3 while watching a video. One DURING the upgrade and one when i finished disk repair. Was closing the window. HELP.
Message was edited by: willzumaDid you install anything strange the first time it panicked. Were you even doing anything strange?

I've had my Intel mini for a week now and am sick to the back teeth of kernal panicks. I've tried to work out where the conflicts are but given up now! So I've done a complete erase and install and am now loathed to put any software onto this machine!
1) Is there a list of software that is and isn't compatable with the new system??
I know mac:office works but what about other software?
Sibelius? Peak LE?
3) What about Mac games? Which ones work? It's most definitely something I've loaded onto it
yesterday - problem is I can't remember exactly what
I loaded.
Here's how i fixed the problem.
1. do a restart in safe mode --- Restart your mini and hold down the shift key .
2. go to System/Library/Extentions. Do a List view and sort by Date.
That will tell you what you put in on that day. I sent anything on that day to the trash can.
3. go to System/Library/StartupItems. Do a List view and sort by Date.
I sent anything on that day to the trash can.
4. Restart - Let your mini reboot and then do another restart.
From there evything was fine for ME.
Hope this helps.
