Panorama feature come and gone!

Hey all!,
A true story.
I have an iPhone and an iPad that I had connected to the same PC the day that the IOS6 came out. I run the IOS upgrade at the same time and both my iPhone and iPad got upgraded. Once the devices were all done, I checked the new features and I was pleasantly surprized at the new feature that BOTH of my devices had, the AMAZING panoramic feature.
I didn't know any better I guess, and I thought that it was a standard feature for both devices (how little did I know).
I took my iPad to my kid's games, and to social events where hordes of people seemd to think that I had some sort of a "special" connection with Apple. I was told repeatedly that they had never seen anything llike that because they did not have the "Panorama" feature.
I used my iPad's COOL panoramic feature in parties, and in social events with amazing results. I could actually see the results of the panoramic view on a big screen (versus the tiny iPhone screen).
Then I looked for the panorama under options and it was not there. I called Apple support and they told me that "the feature is not compatible, and although we believe that you had it at some point, we can't give it back to you".
So the suggestion from the Apple support was "Write to Apple and request the feature to be added to the new release"

According to the link below, panorama is only on some iPhones and the 5th generation iPod Touch.

I realize that I am Mr. Security-Nutcase-stickler-uptight, but I think arch should move away from md5 towards SHA-256. md5 has been known to not be cryptographically secure for some time now. I think steps should be taken for migration...

extra length does not necessarily ensure a better hash.
Hashing algorithms are big voodoo, lots of "tricks" to try to chop down to the bits specified.
Anyway, back to your statement. md5 outputs a 128 bit hash result. sha1 outputs a 160 bit result. md5 has been shown to have collisions. sha1 has so far not (the full 80 round version. A simplified 30 round version was shown to have some weakness).
Sha1 can address...

according to the "birthday" algorithm (heh..that is the only way I can remember it) you would only need approx 2^80 to find a collision (half the address space).
sha-256 is of course, a 256 bit outputting hash.
So with sha-256 (if it is "secure", and so far it appears to be so), you would need..
2^128...aka a big damn number.
That is, of course, if you are simply doing exhaustive searches for collisions. I believe there was some issue with md5, some trick if you will, that allowed them to theoretically reduce the address space further than 2^64.
But, as I said, this is likely a non-issue for a couple more years. Still, it would be nice to be the first distro to move off of md5, because eventually, everyone will have to do so.

After my Apple update this morning, I am having trouble with the keyboard not popping up when I try to type on websites. I do not have the Bluetooth activated. This has come and gone twice today so far.Help.

As long as you are sure that you have Bluetooth turned off .....
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
See if that helps.

I would start with contacting whoever gave you the beta for assistance. What you are experiencing is a major reason why non-developers should not be using the beta without support from their development team .
You could try an Apple Store but since 3.0 is not officially released, they may or may not be able to help.

No. From the iOS 7 features page:
Panorama format is available on iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and iPod touch (5th generation). Square and video formats and swipe to capture are available on iPhone 4 or later, iPad (3rd generation or later), iPad mini, and iPod touch (5th generation).
Sorry, but if you want those features, you'll need a newer iPhone.

Final Cut is a separate, higher end video editor. The pro version of iMovie.
Give iPhoto a look at for creating the slideshow. It's easy to assemble the photos in an album in iPhoto, put them in the order you want and then make a slideshow of them. You can select from various themes and transitions between slides and add music from your iTunes library.
When you have the slidshow as you want use the Export button at the bottom of the iPhoto window and export with Size = Medium or Large.
Save the resulting Quicktime movie file in your Movies folder.
Next, open iDVD, choose your theme and drag the QT movie file into the menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Then follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
The reason I suggest iPhoto is that I find it much easier to use than iMovie (except for the older iMovie 6 HD version). Personal preferences showing here.

Help using panorama feature on a long straight wall

I am trying to stitch photos of a long wall using Photoshop Elements 6 Photomerge Panorama feature (a wall with graffiti), however the problem I have is:
- if I use the "Auto" feature, the photos stitch neatly, however, there is a strong "bend" away from the camera on the left and right sides of the merged picture.
- if I use the "reposition only" feature, I can largely eliminate the "bend", although the photos don't stitch together very neatly.
I would think that stitching a "straight" image (ie with horizontal lines that you would like to keep horizontal) would be a fairly common use for the panorama feature?
I am taking the photos by walking parallel to the wall (ie at a fixed distance from the wall). ie I am not standing in a central spot and turning from left to right.
Can anyone help me? I suspect that I should be able to "bend back" the ends of the merged picture after using the "Auto" feature to stitch it together, although I haven't found how to do this. I have tried using the various options within "Image/Transform" but with no luck.

Perspective and Cylindrical both assume you're pivoting the camera around a fixed point, so it's not surprising they don't produce good results. Auto chooses between Perspective and Cylindrical, so there's no point in choosing Auto. See this page from the manual for a little more detail on the layout options:

Perhaps someone else here has experience trying to do what you want.
Also, if you post an example with 3 photos (perhaps at reduced resolution), you could get the creative juices of others flowing.

Can't use the panorama feature

Hi,
I just acquired PS 12 & wanted to build a panorama from a suite of photos.
I loaded the photos in the Expert Edit mode and then tried to open a new file of the panorama type, as shown in the video tutorial. But the only choice I have is "Empty File".
What is it I do wrong ?

Problem Installing HP Officejet J4580 Full Feature Software and Driver

Hallo !
I recently installed a new 2T harddrive and performed a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on my e-Machine Model ET-1331-g-05w. The clean install of Windows 7, installation of the e-Machine drivers, und 325+ Microsoft Updates was successful. The System is running fine and protected by Kaspersky 2015 Internet Security. Please note this WAS NOT an OS upgrade from Vista to Win7 - just a clean-install of the original Win7 64-bit OS.
After creating an ISO and Full Backup(nothing else has been installed at this point) I wan't to re-install my HP Officejet J4580 All-in-one. I have the original CD but I know that it can only be used on an XP or Vista OS - so I went to the www3.hp.Offical HP Drivers and Support downloaded the Product Installation Software for:

My printer wasn't connected via USB - the install ran for about 30 and when I asked to connect the USB cable the splash screen told me it was finishing the install but then it failed with a message unable to located J4580 Drivers. The install that place the Solution Center, HP Document Manager, and HP Photosmart ICON's on my Desktop - when I opened the Solution Center - it said that it couldn't communicate to the printer. The printer and USB cable work fine on my Vista Desktop, my Vista Business Notbook. and my IBM X40 running WP SP3.
I've also tried running:
1) HP Update Software Utility - hpsetup.exe
2) Hp Print and Scan Doctor - HPPSdr.exe
3) HP Officejet Software and Driver Removal Utility - OJJ4500_Scrubber_13.exe
but the 2nd attempt to re-install failed too.
I then reloaded my clean ISO - and tried the Product Installation Software for the Basic Drivers

The Basic Drivers worked fine -but I need the Full Driver. I double checked and the WIN 7 64-bit is shown as a supported OS for the Full Driver - any suggestions on how to proceed? I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile installing XP virtual machine and installing the Full Drivers in VM. If I go that route - it creates other issues such as sync'n file from 64-bit to VM, then switching back & forth between VM to process other work, and then the issue of having to scan in VM then sync the folder to 64-bit side.

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with installing your HP Officejet J4580 All-in-One Printer on your Windows 7 computer. Thank you for including all of the troubleshooting steps you have already attempted and your Operating System details in your post. At this point I am going to run you through some additional troubleshooting steps to get this Officejet successfully installed with the Full Feature driver. Please follow the steps below.
Step 1: Uninstall Drivers:
It is important that we have a nice clean slate to work with for troubleshooting. Therefore, I am going to have you uninstall the existing software on your computer.
Click on your Start menu
Select All Programs
Select the HP folder
Select your HP Officejet
Select Uninstall
Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the uninstall of your printer. Once the uninstall is complete, please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Clear Temp Files:
Click on your Start menu
In the 'search programs and files' box located right above Start after you click on it, type %temp% and hit enter on your keyboard
When the Temp folder opens, select Ctrl + A at the same time on your keyboard. Everything in this folder will now highlight.
Select the 'delete' button on your keyboard. The Temp folder contains temporary internet files. No actual files or folders on your computer will be affected by deleting the Temp files. Should a Temp file still be used than you will automatically get the pop up to 'skip' that item.
Close the Temp folder once it is emptied
Right click the Recycling Bin on your desktop and select Empty Recycling Bin
Step 3: Unlock System Administrator Account:
There is the potential that there is something within your User Account that may be blocking the drivers from installing properly. Therefore, I am going to have you unlock the hidden System Administrator Account and install your device under there. Then, when you log back into your normal User Account the printer and all Full Feature software should be installed and functional for you. If all goes well, we we 'hide' the System Administrator Account once troubleshooting is complete.
Go to your Start menu and under the 'search programs and files' box type CMD
CMD will populate as a search option above, just right click on it and 'run as administrator'
Once CMD (Command Prompt) opens, type net user administrator /active:yes and hit enter
Next, close CMD and restart your computer
When your computer comes on log into the new account that should show. It will be called Administrator and will not have a password on it.
If your computer automatically logs into your account after restart than go to your start menu click the arrow beside 'shutdown' and choose 'switch user'. Now log into the Administrator account we just unlocked
Under the Administrator account download and install the drivers: HP Officejet Full Feature Software and Driver
Please follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation of your printer
Once the installation is complete, please test printing and scanning to confirm that everything is now working properly.
If everything installs fine, log out of this account and back into your normal User Account. All the Software and Drivers for your product should show installed now on your account.
Under your User Account please test printing and scanning again to confirm that everything is still working.
If everything works fine, you will want to Hide the Administrator account.
Step 4: Hide System Administrator Account:
Go to your Start menu and under the 'search programs and files' box type CMD
CMD will populate as a search option above, just right click on it and 'run as administrator'
Once CMD (Command Prompt) opens, type net user administrator /active:no and hit enter
Next, close CMD and restart your computer

Greetings. I just installed WebLogic Portal 10.3 and I'm trying to install a couple of plug ins to Workshop/Eclipse, but whenever I select any item to install I get this error:
WebLogic Portal (10.3.0) requires feature "com.m7.nitrox (1.0.20)", or compatible.
Everything else seems to be working fine, so I'm not sure why my installation is giving me this issue. I've done a bit of digging already and haven't found what may be causing this issue, and I'm hoping someone here may be able to point me in the right direction.

This is a known issue with WLP 10.3; it has been addressed for the next release of WLP. You could contact support to try to get a patch created (reference CR379999).
I can think of 2 possible workarounds:
1. Download the new plugin manually, and either a) create an extension location on the file system from it and add that via Help|Software Updates|Manage Configuration, or b) extract it to one of the workshop eclipse folders (i.e. tools/eclipse_pkgs/2.0/eclipse_3.3.2, tools/eclipse_pkgs/2.0/pkgs/eclipse, workshop_10.3/workshop4WP/eclipse, wlportal_10.3/eclipse) and restart Workshop.
2. Edit <beadir>/wlportal_10.3/eclipse/features/com.bea.wlp_10.3.0/feature.xml, comment out the <import feature="com.bea.*"/> lines in the <requires> block, restart Workshop, and try again.

Panorama feature not working in iOS 7

I have iPhone 5 Updated to iOS7 yesterday.Everything seems fine except the panorama feature for lock screen and home screen is not working for me.Help!!

The panorma feature where panoramic image scrolls as you move your phone was removed due to battery usage concerns.
If you mean the Parallax feature where in the wallpaper moves "slightly" as you tilt the phone, that is still there
Settings->General->Accessibilty->Reduce Motion
Make sure its off.
