Panorama in InDesign

Hi,
I just created an ipad magazine using Adobe's Digital Publishing suite.
I would now like to create an online magazine version. I will be exporting the final file as a SWF from InDesign.
A few questions about SWF created by InDesign:
•Does it support Panoramas?
•Does it support MP4 movies?
Any other interactivity found on the ipad that is not supported in SWF created through InDesign.

Most DPS features do not translate to SWF. The two you mentioned are not exceptions to that.

I got confused as I found link on the web and the guy was saying he had created his pdf using Indesign.

Use a panoramic photo flash file in indesign and export it to a swf file for flipbook

hi,
i haven a 360° panoramic flash file.
when i put this file in indesign and make an export to pdf i can see my panoramic photo.
my problem:
i want to export this file to swf to use it as a flipbook.
but now, my panoramic flash file doesn`t work.
is this possible?

Even when exporting as an interactive pdf.
My problem is that I am trying to figure out how to export my swf embedded file into an interactive pdf.
I have created an interactive presentation with buttons, effects etc. After which I exported to swf so that all the effects work.
But when placing the swf file back into indesign and exporting again as an interactive pdf it doesn't work at all, all I get is a white screen. (I need a pdf for clients basically, they dont want any swf or flash files.)
Even though after placing the swf file, in the media window I ticked play on page load as well as chose a cover image for the swf file. Still just a white screen when exporting.
To repeat, I need to know how to convert my swf file into an interactive pdf.
Any pointers please would be great I have some swf presentations I need to change into pdf as soon as possible or before tomorrow to be exact before our monthly meeting with clients.

How do I sync my Groups in Panorama

When I sync with my work computer from home, the groups of tabs in Panorama don't sync. What am I doing wrong?

I have to say that the whole CC serice seems to be a little 'hit and miss' at the moment. I have just found out that Folder Sharing is also not available. I purchased a 3 seat option of the CC for Teams and without InDesign CC Setting Syncing and a shared folder setup the service is much less appealing.

360 panorama not shown in preview on iPad with Adobe Content Viewer

I have a weired problem with the 360 panorama…
When I create the panorama using the overlay creator everything works perfect and the desktop preview is showing the panorama very fine.
On the ipad (after login with my adobe ID and downloading the Magazin) I get only a white page after tapping the defined Preview image.
I tried:
_deleted all images from the original folder
_renamed the files
_created the Overlay again
_reloaded the images into the InDesign Document
_published again to the Adobe server
_deleted the "Content Viewer" from iPad
_installed new "Content Viewer"
Still an my DesktopViewer everything is fine, but the 360 wont work
btw. all other elements like slideshows, videos, scrollable text etc. is working
Any Ideas or Solutions?

Try opening the six images in Photoshop and using Save for Web & Devices to save the files. Try creating smaller files.
The current files you're using might be too much for the iPad to handle.

Panoramic Printing Trouble on Epson 2200

I am trying to print a 8"x45" panoramic print from Photoshop in OS X 10.4.5 from Photoshop CS2 on a 13" roll of matte paper. I have the matte black ink cartridge in and have reinstalled the printer drivers to recognize the different ink.
I have created a custom page size in Photoshop, 12.94x45, and everytime I print the image, it is not centered and starts printing about 16" in from the edge. When it does print, it prints a thin line and goes over several times, then starts printing them image.
I have contacted Epson, and they have not given me any answers that have worked. They suggested I try the gimp print driver, but it has the same results.
I also imported the photo into a 13"x45" InDesign document, it starts to print in a different spot, but it is basically the same result. I tried making a PDF of the photo, and it has the same results. I also tried making the Photoshop document 13" wide, to see if it changed the outcome, no change.
Epson did say that the page setup is part of OS X 10.4, and not part of the printer driver now. Does anyone have any suggestions that might help me resolve this issue?

After many hours of going back and forth with Epson, I was reading in a Google group something about a limit on printing length. I shrunk the image to 40" and it is printing just fine.

Panorama doesn't work on iPad

I'm trying to create a Panorama asset on InDesign CC. It works correctly on desktop Content Viewer, but after uploading and downloading on iPad it doesn't work. Touching the image it makes a short flash and nothing else.

Indesign and an iphoto book. Pano images.

I have designed a layout in InDesign that works with my flushmount album company. I had a book printed by Apple and I knew it wouldn't be perfect but I actually lost whole people in the gutter of the book. What dimensions do I need to make a spread that includes panoramic images that seamlessly go across both pages of an iphoto book?

What version of iPhoto are you using? If it's iPhoto 11 then the themes now include a 2 page layout. For earlier versions of iPhoto figure on two 8.5" x 11" pages for a single image 22 x 8.5". This site has directions on creating such a 2 page layout: Creating a 2-page layout in iPhoto.

Hello,
I am new in Indesign. I would like to place a panorama picture (13000x2200 pixel) over several pages. I think it could cover about 4 pages. Ok, I could place it new on every double-page and bring it in the right position, but is there another way?

Ah, yes. Long day. Sorry.
In that case, I'd still be tempted to start with a 4-page spread. Place the image as you want it, then copy and past in place on top of itself. Crop the left side of the top copy to the center boundary, then select the bottom copy and crop off the right side to the center boundary. Restore shuffling.

InDesign supports video export in PDF, SWF, EPUB and DPS. As far as I know, none of those formats supports "360 degree video".

How do I use Panorama / Tab Groups with the keyboard?

Yes I know that CTRL-SHIFT-E opens the panorama window, and then I can use the mouse to organize my tabs into groups.
But how do I do this with the keyboard?

That doesn't work for me on my Danish keyboard. (Where the ' and ` chars are weird. But is how they are on a valid standard Danish keyboard) I've tried changing the keyboard to USA and then moving through tab groups works fine.
In short: Pretend I don't have a mouse. How do I use Panorama / Tab Groups?

Auto-generated links exported from InDesign do not work in tablet apps

Hyperlinks automatically detected and exported from InDesign CS6 8.0.1 as a PDF work fine on the desktop version of Acrobat Reader. However, on the iPad version of Adobe Reader as well as iBooks and GoodReader, these links are completely ignored, meaning they are just text.
On the other hand, if I was to manually set the hyperlink in InDesign or Acrobat, the link works fine.
It would be extremely tedious and time consuming to manually reset hundreds of hyperlinks in my documents since InDesign use to handle this correctly.
Is this a bug? If so, it's pretty serious and should be Adobe's priority to fix since millions of people read documents on tablet devices.

No, it's a Feature of Acrobat and reader that they attempt to create links from anything that "looks like" a URL. Other readers lack the feature.
It's not good practice to depend on this in any case as it's hardly foolproof even in Acrobat. Links that break across lines, for example, will not be properly recognized.

Text Wrap options not showing in InDesign CS3

Using InDesign CS3 on a Mac 10.4. I've had this problem for a couple of months now and it's getting past the point of annoying. When I open my text wrap options pallete it's blank even when I expand options. I can see the text wrap icons in my header panel, but I no longer have options to change the right/left/top/bottom margins. Just a general "add wrap" and "remove wrap". Is there any way I can get my pallete back? I've tried defaulting my tools, but still it does not show up. I don't know what to do to get it back.

Did you try resetting preferences? While pressing Shift+Option+Command+Control, start InDesign. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files. If you don't get the message about deleting preferences, you weren't fast enough.

Re: i can't start up indesign cc each time it says it has to close the program on start-up. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and have rebooted my machine seeveral times and it still doesn't work.

I am having a similar problem - have deleted preferences which did not solve - this is since I installed the latest update - it is very slow - and cannot close - says background task running - but when I open background task window - shows nothing - only way to close is to use Windows task manager and end program

My problem is really weird - ID CC 2014 with the latest update can become very slow - at first it was only when I had other applications going [especially Photoshop] - but for the last week it has been every time I try to use it - even with no other app running.
Mouse movements are delayed, any selection takes forever to take effect. When closing - I sometimes get message saying background task is running [but not every time]
new user account didn't help, deleting preferences neither .
I had several ID files open -closed those - crashed ID - rebooted - opened totally different files - same problem.
However - I have just deleted the file Recovery Data in the users/user name/appdata/local/adobe/indesign/version 10.0/en_US/Caches/InDesign REcovery- and that seems to have temporarily fixed the issue as ID is behaving normally now. [I guess that 's the same as creating another user account]

InDesign crashes every time you double click to open an .indd file on Windows system

InDesign crashes every single time you double click to open an InDesign file and has done so since replacement of the original version of InDesign introduced in the Creative Cloud launch. Does anyone else have this problem? I'd say it was unique to my system if I hadn't experienced the issue repeatedly on several different systems now. You have to relaunch InDesign which then opens the file from recovery, so it saw the file you tried to launch in the first place. This leads me to believe the problem lies with the file association registry of InDesign inside Windows systems. I find it unbelievable that this problem still exists and remains unreported and that a solution hasn't been implemented by Adobe to rectify the issue.
The double click is a fundamental tenant of opening files on a Windows system in the same way a single click is on a Mac. Does InDesign crash ever time a Mac user clicks to open their files, I think not.
Anyone got any ideas other than the obvious which is Adobe actually got their figure out and fixed it.

Hi Michael,
I'll give it a go. Don't really like messing with the registry on Windows boxes. Yes you can do it, but it can end up being a case of the operation was a success, but the patient died.
Just was rather hoping someone else had already experienced this problem and posted the registry tweak. Didn't want spend hours reinventing the wheel. Not because I'm lazy, but I have so many demands on my time that resolving a minor issue that effects me only seems like it should be pretty low priority.
The system I'm using is brand new, but the problem seems to have followed me regardless which may indicate that it is seated in my synchronization information somehow. Really don't know how that could happen as I'm not an Adobe engineer or have the remotest idea where to even start looking. So I think I'll mark your suggestion as the "Answer" and just learn to live with it.
Windows eh! Can't live with - can't live without it. I'm sure Mac can be just as temperamental. Just have to chalk this one up as being just another ghost in the machine.
