Panorama is Messing up my tab Groups on Restart

So I really like the idea of Panorama, and I tried to use it to divide some sites into related categories.
For instance I have a group of Irish News site, a group of news aggregator sites (Google news etc), and then a group of British news sites.
This all works fine and dandy, and I can swap between the groups of tabs using Panorama. But everything gets major screwed up when I close firefox and restart it.
When I restart firefox the groups of tabs are just all over the place and are completely muddled with each other. If there were 3 groups of tabs in Panorama when I closed FF, the three groups are still there when I re-open FF. But the tabs inside have been completely scattered across the groups.
It is very not hot, and makes Panorama completely unusable!
Note: I have set FF to "Show my windows and tabs from last time" in the main settings menu.
Any advice on how I can fix this please??? Thanks!

ok i desperately need to keep this thread alive. Exact same printer/os exact same problem. I can also add it seems to have started after a big HP update patch I allowed (foolishly?) to come through. I've used this printer without fail for 3 or 4 months solid. Then after the update i noticed my hour glass would come on and grind every 30 seconds. I finally figured out it was the printer appearing and disappearing over and over again in my directory tree. I finally uninstalled everything, and now I have these artifacts on every other reboot or so. The artifacts arent just visual, they slow down other pages and generally make my system crawl. when i get lucky and get a boot where there are no artifacts, my system runs like the day I bought it. My concern is i uninstalled everything (or so i thought) and even have the printer unplugged ( a very expensive paperweight now) - and I still get the artifacts.
with a gut feeling and about 6 hours of uninstalling apps trial and error and mucking about with my start up settings - i had a suspicion it was the HP - and this thread seems to confirm.

  • I messed around with tab groups and somehow closed it all. Now all my tabs are gone!

I clicked on the "tab groups" button and not knowing what it was or what it does, I seemed to have closed all my tabs (30+). Now they are all gone, except for 10 which i saved from 'recently closed tabs'. Can anyone help! I had important tabs open and do not remember the links or how to get them again!

(for future usage) You can specify the number of Tabs and Windows you can undo in a session. Here's how:-
Type '''about:config''' in the Location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key. When you see a warning, click '''I'll be careful, I promise!''' button.
    * Preferences that have been modified are shown as '''bold (user set)'''.
    * Preferences can be '''Reset to the default''' or changed via the right-click context menu.
-> In the '''Filter bar''', type '''browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo'''
    * right-click the preference '''browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo''' -> click '''Modify''' -> type the number -> click OK
-> In the '''Filter bar''', type '''browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo'''
    * right-click the preference '''browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo''' -> click '''Modify''' -> type the number -> click OK
-> Close the '''about:config''' tab and Restart Firefox.
Check and tell if its working.

  • How to save Tab groups for later browsing

Can tab groups be saved so that when I launch Firefox next time all previous tabs will be there ?

Identical to others, I do not want to reload all tab groups on restart; however, I strongly desire the ability to save tab groups (beyond just naming & resuming from previous session). My use case is simple. I reboot, switching from Ubuntu to Windows and back multiple times per day on my laptop. I work on multiple projects and would like to associate tab groups with each one. Then I would like to click a button/link, (perhaps in the Ctrl-Shift-E -- Tab Group View) to restore a specific tab group for a project without having to load the 28 other pages which are relevant to other projects... Essentially, I want to bookmark a tabgroup. I would be willing to contribute coding time to this feature, but am unsure as to where to start.

  • How do I use Panorama / Tab Groups with the keyboard?

Yes I know that CTRL-SHIFT-E opens the panorama window, and then I can use the mouse to organize my tabs into groups.
But how do I do this with the keyboard?
I've [http://lifehacker.com/#!5719596/switch-between-tab-groups-in-firefox-with-a-keyboard-shortcut read] [http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1705714 that] Ctrl-`should move me through tab groups. That doesn't work for me on my Danish keyboard. (Where the ' and ` chars are weird. But is how they are on a valid standard Danish keyboard) I've tried changing the keyboard to USA and then moving through tab groups works fine.
In short: Pretend I don't have a mouse. How do I use Panorama / Tab Groups?

Sorry. These are both known bugs:
[https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=587010 Bug 587010] - Add keyboard UI for manipulated groups and tabs in Tab Candy
    and
[https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=626594 Bug 626594] - shortcut for switching tab groups is badly accessible on many non-US keyboard layouts

  • I spend a lot of time arranging my tab groups in the tab group view. But Panorama keeps rearranging them whenever I open up firefox. How can I get it to keep the last arrangement I left the tab groups in?

My laptop resolution changes many times a day because I use a docking station. I suspect that this could be causing Panorama to rearrange my tab groups. None the less, I would like it to stop! Anyone know how I can get it to comply?

Hello. I have just tried this add-on you suggested, and no change.
And no, there was no some other add-on before, not that I know about it. Mainly, I need this option while I'm on a forum (IP board powered), it is not really something so important, but it's neat function for me.
So, to be more detailed - I read a certain topic on this forum, and some of the posts from other members contain YouTube screens (looking same as on the original YouTube page), showing the frame of a video.
In earlier versions of Firefox, I used to click on a small YouTube logo button (right side, down, between "watch on full screen" and "watch later" buttons). Clicking on this button automatically opened new tab, leaving forum tab as it is, and in new tab original YouTube page, with that certain video. In the same time, in Google search page, when clicking on a link, all links were opening in the same tab.
Now, after some of the latest updates of Firefox, I noticed that some default settings were changed - in Google search, clicking on a link always opens a link in a new tab. I have found out here on your forum how to set this back in about:config feature, and now I have again that links in a Google results page are opened in the same tab (that's the way I like it).
But YouTube screens on this forum are now also being opened in the same tab, and that is what I don't like, and trying to change back.
So, what I need: all links to open in the same tab after clicking, as I have it now, and YouTube screens (e. g. on this forum) to be opened in a new tab (by clicking on a small YouTube logo ("watch this video on YouTube").
Pedantic I am, I know that, and I know that this may look silly to some people, but if there is a way to do something, please tell me.
Thanks for answering, and best regards.
    P.S.
Is it possible that forum updates changed my setting, and not the Firefox? Thanks again...

  • In panorama, when I left click and drag to open a new tab group, unclicking doesn't create the new group and left clicking again only creates another group without finalizing the first one.

In Firefox 4.0 beta 11 (Windows 7 Professional) left clicking in panorama creats a new tab group but letting go doesn't finalise the group. I have XP mode on my computer and firefox b11 works fine in the virtual PC.
    Edit:
This has continued into Firefox 4 RC2

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Is there a Keyboard shortcut to: a) Switch between Tab Groups? b) Switch between matching Panorama search results?

    a) Switching between tab groups would improve my workflow. Like Alt+(Shift+)Tab to switch to next/prev Tab. Cmd+Shift+W/R wold be another possible option beside the Cmd+Shift+E for Panorama.
    b) When searching in Panorama Tabbing between results would be great.

CTRL+SHIFT+E got me to the tabs group "menu" so you could pick which tab you wanted. it's all explained here:

  • How do I close a panorama tab group in Firefox 5 for Mac

I can create a panorama tab group easily enough, however there doesn't seem to be a way to close a group of tabs. Reading the documentation, it says that when viewing the tab group there should be an "X" in the upper right hand corner to close the group. On my mac however, there is no "X" and it doesn't look like there's a way to close it.
On my windows XP machine the "X" to close the tab group is there.

Firefox Orange Button > Preferences > Preferences > Application
Search for the ".indd file" and change the option

  • When using Panorama, everytime I create a New Group, I am redirected to the Google Calendar App that I created. Tab groups are not being remembered. Any workaround?

I am trying to use Panorama for the first time. I can successfully create a tab group, but Firefox does not remember it. When I view a new web page and try to use "add to group" I am redirected to the app tab I created for Google Calendar. I am using Windows 7 64x with Firefox as my default browser.
Are there any know issues with the apps tap and Panorama?

I have a somewhat related problem running FF7 on WinXP32, specifically concerning your ''I can successfully create a tab group, but Firefox does not remember it.''
When I reopen FF, I find FF
    * ''sometimes'' does not remember all tab groups.
    * ''often'' seems to move at least 1 tab from one group to another.
    ''kursiver Text''
I am new to using this tab grouping feature, and I have not identified a specific and consistent misbehavior yet.

  • Panorama tab groups are not snapping to the edges of other groups

I upgraded to Firefox 5.0 and the tab groups in the Panorama view are no longer snapping to the edges of other groups like it did in 4.0.x. Is there a setting for this someplace?

The LDAP graph is responsible for showing the membership when viewing the user properties, an issue like this would indicate the graph is not auto updating. It normally builds when starting the CMS then every 15 minutes or so for new users (depending on system activity). It shouldn't lose any info (if it does this indicates a caching or communication problem with AD). There is a graphtimeout setting in the registry (search SAP notes) if this were disabled then it may cause similar symptoms.
I'm not aware of any bugs in 3.1 causing this behavior so you may need to open a case with support (authentication team) to help troubleshoot.

    Tim

  • I recently start using Firefox panorama. If I create a tab group that contains, for example, my favorite stack exchange websites, can I save ("bookmark") this tab group for easy access if I start a new session?

I recently start using Firefox panorama. If I create a tab group that contains, for example, my favorite stack exchange websites, can I save ("bookmark") this tab group for easy access if I start a new session?

You can bookmark all those tabs and place them in a folder.
    * "Bookmark This Page" and "Bookmark All Tabs" no longer show in the Bookmarks menu unless you open the Bookmarks menu via the keyboard (Alt + B).
    * "Bookmark All Tabs" can be accessed via the right-click context menu of a tab on the tab bar.

  • Panorama forgets where I've filed tabs in tab groups

I've been noticing this since last fall in Firefox 4 nightlies.
Let's say I have around 60 tabs. I open Panarama, create some tab groups, then drag my tabs to the group where I want it to live.
Over the course of several Firefox restarts, my filing gets lost so that tabs go back to where they once were.
My profile was made last fall specifically for Firefox 4 -- I shouldn't have to create yet another one. I've deleted all my tab groups, then started from scratch to no avail. I've also tried disabling some add-ons like xmarks and session manager, which I imagine might impact Panorama.
Another approach would be to delete (in the file system) everything Firefox knows about Panorama so that record-keeping starts from scratch. How do I do that?

With the help of information from user, ptressel, in [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1032154#answer-673322 a post here about the existence of sessionstore.js when version 33 was released], I was able to easily recover my tabs and tab groups as follows:
    # close Firefox and, perhaps, allow a few seconds (30s?) for any final closing of files;
    # check to see if you have a sessionstore.js file in your profile folder, named like the one I documented in my original post above;
    # if it is not timestamped prior to the discovery of your problem, open the sessionstore-backups folder;
    # check if the recovery.js file is suitably timestamped and, if not, the recovery.bak.
    # At this point, you are likely to find that none of them are prior to your problem occuring. If so, open your backups of this folder and go through steps 2-4 to find a file prior to your problem occuring.
    # When you find a file, copy it to the root of your current profile folder and name it, "sessionstore.js"
    # Open Firefox. Mine opened up as desired.
This is a Windows solution. Sorry I can't comment on other platforms, but I'd bet that as this is just a file copy and renaming, it is likely the same.
For Windows users, you may find you need to sign out and login as an administrator in order to access the backups. You need not logoff your standard account, but do have Firefox closed as described above.
    Hope that helps.

  • With Firefox 5 and Panorama(Tab Groups), can I hibernate tab groups?

I use the add-on TabGroups Manager and I like to hibernate tab groups to save memory. When a tab group is hibernated, I can bring it back even after I close Firefox and shutdown my computer. With the new Panorama(Tab Groups), is it also possible to hibernate tab groups so I can open them later?

The other name of the "hibernation" functionality is "unload tab". It used to be implemented by [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/bartab BarTab extension] that worked for Firefox-3.6. People report that beta works for FF4&5.

  • Can an entire "tab group" (Panorama) be moved to a "new window"?

While looking at my tab groups in the new Panorama feature of Firefox 4, I would have expected that there would be a way move an entire group to a new window, but could not find a way to do this.
Is there a way? Right-click in the tab-group would be a good way, IMHO.

That functionality was shelved for Fx4. It may come to life in a later version of Firefox. There are bug requests on file for a whole slew of cross windows based functionality for Panorama.
    Cheers.
