Panoramic image prints in wrong orientation on roll paper

Trying to print panoramic image on roll paper on Epson Silver 1280 printer. Image displays in correct orientation in print preview box but prints across the roll paper as a cropped portion of the image which is 11" X 43" horizontal format. It's a Photoshop CS image printed on G4 powermac in system 10-3-9. Printer connected to computer via usb cable. Everything else prints fine. Just can't print on roll paper. Any thoughts??

Also, just did this test:
I used all of my old settings:
Roll Paper selected
Ultra Prem. Photo paper luster
Super 2880 dpi
no high speed
And then I used the old paper profile for ilford gallerie smooth pearl. (I used this even though I'm currently printing on Ilford Prestige paper.)
And it came out with NO faint grey Border!
Then I tried it with all of those same settings, except I used the older profile for Ilford Gallerie Smooth Pearl for the ROLL paper (IGSPP11Roll_EPP4800_PSPPn.icc)
Then I got the grey border.
And finally just to make sure I wasn't crazy, I tried one more time:
All settings as above except I chose the GPSPP12_EPSpro4800_PSPPn
Which is the profile I downloaded to match the prestige paper.
And GREY BORDER!
So It seems like using the prestige profile was giving me the wash of grey. And also the roll paper version of the old gallerie smooth pearl also gave me a grey border.
But what should I do now? I want to use the proper paper profile so my colors and tones come out right. I don't feel comfortable just using the wrong paper profile just to stop the border.
On another note, I researched the Highlight Point shift (based on advice I heard from a friend) and that really sounded like what was causing it. However, I am not even seeing that on my printing options. I must be using a different driver or something. When I'm in photoshop, i just select "File - Print" and then go through that normal dialog. Is there some other way to print that gives me many more options?
Thanks to you all for your help so far.

  • Printing to PDF: prints the wrong page size and orientation

I am trying to print a simple 60 page document composed of 8 x 11 inch pages to a pdf. I want the pdf in spreads, so that 2 8x11 inch pages in portrait orientation will be next to each other as a spread. Each time I try to print, the pdf comes out in the wrong orientation or the wrong size or both. When I export it to a pdf, it is the right orientation and page size, but the file size is way too large. So how do I fix this annoying problem? I have tried adjusting the print setup but it still won't print right. This seems like a simple operation, but indesign has been giving me trouble with this for weeks. I should mention I'm using CC. Thank you.

Go to the AdminUI ( http://<servername>:<port>/adminui ), and to Services, PDF Generator.  Pick File Type Settings, and click on the Standard entry.  If you pop open the HTML to PDF section, you can edit the size, margins, orientation, headings and footers, site recursion, and pdf initial view settings.  <br /><br />Save your settings as a new Filetype (you can make as many as you want), and pass the name the filetype as the second parameter to the call to the htmlToPDF method on the web service client.<br /><br />http://livedocs.adobe.com/livecycle/es/sdkHelp/programmer/javadoc/com/adobe/livecycle/g eneratepdf/client/GeneratePdfServiceClient.html<br /><br />I am unfamiliar with interacting directly with the web services via SOAP, so if you are not using the pre-built GeneratePdfServiceClient supplied by Adobe and this information does not solve your issue you will need to see if anybody else can help.  I imagine that there is a similar String parameter where you place the Filetype name defined in the AdminUI.<br /><br />(edit: I should mention, the GeneratePdf service is a part of PDF Generator ES, not Output ES, so you may have better luck in the general Livecycle ES forum)

  • What are the settings to print a panorama photo on roll paper?

I have an Epson R2400 using 8.3 inch roll paper. I want to print a panorama photo (cropped) borderless 8.3 in x 36 in. I have done it using Photoshop (export from Aperture), but each combination I use to print in Aperture ends up shrinking the photo to fit on an 8.267 in x 11.692 effective size even though it is roll paper. I have tried A4 roll paper banner, custom paper sizes (8.3 x 36), manual roll paper settings, etc. Each time the photo is "fit" onto the A4 size when sent to the printer. Print Preview shows the result I hope to get (the full photo with no excess white areas), but when printed the actual photo gets shrunk down or cut off on both ends depending on the combination of settings.
Anyone know the combination of settings to make it happen? What's the trick?

A while ago I had similar problems with custom paper sizes in Aperture with a different Epson printer.
No one had the answer, so I can only conclude that Aperture is weak in this area of printing. Hopefully Apple will address this in Aperture 2.

  • Why does my first page print great and all of the rest are the wrong orientation?

When I am viewing my PDFs in Adobe Reader, they look great. When I print them, the first page is correct and all of the rest are the wrong orientation.
    Please help!

    Hi there ashp,
Try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03275041&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
It can fix a lot on its own and if not give a better idea of what is going on.
    Best of Luck!

  • Epson R3000 question. My issue is when I print on roll paper which is 13" wide, specifically custom sizes.  Anyone else having an issue?

I can't seem to adjust my image size exactly what I want to print on my 13" roll paper.  As an example, I have a panoramic photo that I wanted printed at 13" x 23" but the best I could custom size the print was 9" x 23".  I didn't get any resolution yellow triangle errors, it just wouldn't let me get to those dimensions I wanted.  I'm pretty new to all this so maybe I am doing something wrong.  I have tried custom sizes, ICC profiles which I think more just for printing and color control.  Any help would be appreciated.
By the way, the Epson R3000 is an awesome wide format printer if anyone was considering it.

I have tried cropping my photos in Aperture to the exact size I would like to print.  I adjsuted paper size through custom dimensions, image size is either set to custom or roll paper.  In the end it always seems to do whatever it wants. So I am wondering, am I asking Aperture and my printer driver to do something it can't do, therefore it restricts me?  I bought this printer so I could print wide format images but they are too narrow.  I don't want a 9" x23" image.  I want a 13" by 27" image.
My other question is, I am shooting with a Nikon D90 12.6MP DSLR in RAW mode.  Yet, when I try to get something to print like 13x24, I get the yellow triangle resolution error in Aperture.  Apparently, the resolution isn't high enough, but it seems weird because my camera is taking inceredibly high resolution photos.

  • Win Elements 7 won't print in landscape orientation

O.K. my PSE 5 will print in landscape orientation along the length of roll paper with an Epson Stylus 7600, but no matter what combinations I use with PSE 7, and making sure that at all stages the landscape icons/buttons are selected, PSE 7 won't print in anything else than portrait orientation and the image on the print page shows that, as does the print preview if I go to print. What is the issue here? I have tried deleting and reinstalling PSE 7 and also deleting the printer preferences at start up but this has no effect on the problem. I can edit in PSE 7, save the file, then reopen and print with PSE 5 with no problem, but that is not the point. I am using Win XP with 2G of ram and as pointed out, it works fine with PSE 5 with all my photo files.

Are you sure tht settings used re same in PSE5 & PSE7... Are you using Organizer or Editor for Printing?

  • Thumbnails are often the wrong orientation and distorted. What is causing this?

Thumbnails are often the wrong orientation and distorted. When I select in viewer they are normal again.

As if only the corrected layer would have remained on the photos.
So the geometry of the pictures is correct - they are not skewed or something? Only the colors and intensities are wrong?
. Only in printing when it is converted to PDF file some photos are unrecognizable.
Is it the printed pdf or the pdf viewed on the screen? If it is the printed copy you need to fix your print settings.
Does Aperture give a warning, that the high resolution images are not available?
We had some cases of books not being able to be printed, and that was due to a broken reference to the original files. Only the book could not access the originals, all other parts of Aperture could. To check for this, try to add one more adjustment to one of the images in question. Is it possible? Are the edits reflected correctly in the pdf of the book?
We were shooting with 3 cameras, Lumix5 shooting RAW, Cannon 100 shooting JPEG and SONY alfa850 shooting RAW.
Have you tried to reprocess the raw of the edited images? (Photos > Reprocess Raw)
Also try, to remove one of the images from the book and to add it again. That usually helps, if Aperture has lost the connection to the originals used in the book.
If you no have done so already, repair (and if necessary rebuild) the Aperture library.

  • Getting lousy Image Prints from a Epson Stylus P2200 Printer & IMac (Intel)

Ok here's the health warning - I'm a recent Windows to Mac convert - so this may well be me - but here goes ...
I have an Epson Stylus P2200 Printer (which works great on Windows XP) and I am having trouble printing anything close to decent looking photos when its connected to the IMac. I've tried with both Aperture & Photoshop Elements - same problem/outcome. The photos come out in low resolution & v. poor color quality.
I'm using the Stylus Photo 2200 (FW) driver that came standard with the IMAC - but it has very limited features compared to Windows - I have selected a ICC profile (downloaded from Epson) that matches the paper I am using.
I suspect its me - but can anyone shed any light on where I'm going wrong?
Does anyone have any experience of this driver - is it me? or is there something I'm missing?
    Thanks
    Chris
IMac (Intel)   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   1.5GB RAM

I have two Epson printers, a 2200 and it's working fine with my MacBook Pro. Before you fiddle around with the Color Management, make sure your printer is in good working order and the latest Intel drivers are installed.
Banding is not normal printer behavior. You mentioned that you're using a scan of a MacBeth color checker chart. You didn't say how the scan was made, but I'm assuming you know for sure that the banding is not in the image. On my 2200 I might get bad color if I don't use the correct profiles but I've never had banding problems unless the print heads need cleaning.
    Here are my suggestions:
    1. Don't use the drivers bundled with Mac OS X. Download the latest ones from support.epson.com. If you haven't checked recently, check and download them again. The latest driver posted is 3.0aAs dated June 15, 2006.
    2. Epson's instructions with the latest 2200 driver is to do a "Reset Printing System" first, then restart your Mac before installing the driver and adding the new print queue.
    3. When adding the printer with the Printer Setup Utility, make sure you're adding the Stylus Photo 2200 that appears under the Epson USB or Epson FireWire category depending on whether the 2200 is connected to your iMac with FireWire or USB. Note that unlike the old PPC 2200 driver which has separate "printers" for Borderless and Minimize Margins, Roll Paper and Sheetfeed, the new driver installs only one printer. Roll paper and borderless printing options are now handled in the Page Setup dialog like the R-series printer drivers. (Unfortunately, this causes incompatibilities in a mixed PPC and Intel printer sharing environment).
    4. Run the Epson Printer Utility and use it to check printer status and do a nozzle check. This will help check if the Mac is communicating with the printer.
Now you can start making your test prints. Most likely, you'll be using the Print Settings and Color Management options in the Print dialog frequently. If the prints are coming out halfway decent or better, then you can be quite certain that the printing system is set up properly and now you can worry about the ICC profiles and color management.
Also, don't forget to download the better profiles for the 2200 from support.epson.com.
And, if you're managing color in Photoshop, turn OFF Color Management in the Print dialog and vice-versa. Otherwise, you're managing color twice!

  • Wrong orientation of text selection cursor

I've OCR'ed a PDF document with page orienation "portrait" using Acrobat Pro XI with setting "exact image".
Unfortunately the text selection cursor has the wrong orientation, its orientation is "horizontal" but should be "vertical" as the text is written from left to right (German) in the document.
Any ideas how to change the cursor orientation?
    Thanks.

I have got the same problem. Text ocr-ed with with setting "exact image", too - don't know if that matters. The problem might be indepedent from that.
The proble mist a real pain. It heavily disturbes text selection an marking.
    Unfortunately I don't have a solution.

  • Set paper size for image on roll paper

Q     I am trying to set the paper size for a H 30cm x W 80cm image using roll paper on an Epson R3000 printer. Computer Dell I7 64b and using Elements 9. Thank-you, John

Garry - Many thanks for the reply. I was following the usual routine but I had never needed to use the 'User defined' box previously but it appears this is vital to the whole process when using roll-paper. I also found that the paper height becomes the Length when using roll-paper. I nearly entered the paper height (as requested) as 10m (length of roll) but you need to enter the length of the actual print required or the print process will start in the middle of the 10m roll! always seems to be that little extra missing from the manuals!  John

  • R800 printing error on roll paper

    Hi there,
I have an Epson R800 printer.
It worked perfectly fine with my Windows PC.
Then I bought a Mac, hoping everything would work just as fine.
    Not so.
When I try to print on roll paper, although both Preview and Lightroom show the paper of the correct size (custom size selected from page setup, with the right dimensions), when I go in to the print options pane and look at the "summary" tab, it shows A4 as paper format.
And indeed the printer prints just the central part of the picture on the roll as if it were an A4 sheet
This has become very frustrating, not to mention the expense in paper and cartridges...
    Any help, anyone?
    Cheers
    Antonio Soffici

Well, the roll is 10m long, so in theory (and, sadly enough, in Windows XP) I could print a whole roll at once.
Indeed, I have printed (sadly, with a 5-year-old laptop PC running Windows XP SP2) a 2-meter panorama with neither fuss nor hassle.
Now, if neither Apple nor Epson are able to write a decent driver for a photographic printer (on the market for several years, now) under Leopard, well, I found it very, very, very unpleasant.
And I feel deprived of the undeniable right of using my existing peripherals, which, according to Apple's own ads, keep on being compatible with every issue of the new OS.
I hope 10.5.2 brings some improvements on this issue
    Love and peace

  • Photos synching across to ATV in the wrong orientation

The orientation of all of my photos are corrected and on my Powerbook. However, once synched to ATV and viewed in Slideshow, some of the photos appear in the wrong orientation (i.e. sideways on). There doesn't appear to be any ATV setting to adjust orientation. Is anyonbe else experiencing this and has anyone got any suggestions or better still, a solution?

Hi, I have already reported this problem as a bug using Apple's bug/enhancement request website.
I started experiancing this problem in 2.4 and thru 3.0 and now 3.0.1.
The photos show correctly as thumbnails as well as when displayed as the screen saver when listening to music.
They only display incorrectly when viewed as a slideshow so it is clearly a AppleTV software problem.
I certainly look forward to it being fixed as it makes the Apple not suitable to show pics to friends and families.
    Thanks, Paul

  • Images printing too small using Lightroom

I have an image that is 316x x 2317 pixels that I am printing using Lightroom 2.3 on Windows XP SP2. I use the Picture Package and add one 4x6 image to the sheet. I am using the Maximize template from the browser. The photo borders are minimum. The image nearly fills the page in the Lightroom viewer just as I expect. The image appears the same in Print Preview. However on my Epson 3800 the image prints about 30% smaller and offset to one corner of the 4x6 sheet.
The problem also occurs when printing from Photoshop CS4.
I am not scaling or resizing in the print driver. I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer using the latest driver.
    Please help!!
    Michael

    Oh my...
It seems that, embarrasingly I was tripple checking everything for 4x6 prints but actually had 5x7 loaded in the printer!
    Thanks for helping the hopeless.
