Pantech Breakout now sucks!

I have had the breakout now for almost a year, I'm stuck with it until my upgrade becomes available, Issues I have is severely low memory as way too much is taken up by Verizons spam apps, I have already been given a new handset as the upgrade totally screwed it up crashes etc etc. My new handset is NO BETTER it continuously fails to recognize the SD card, apps won't  work unless I  reboot the  phone,  the E-MAIL FEATURE  is screwed up I continually have to delete emails that are months old as they just reappear again and again and again. Any suggestions  Verizon ??

The problem stems from your UNSTABLE upgrade sent out to the phones !  The breakout began by being a useful handset albeit highly overpriced when I  got it. Its downfall comes  with your built in spam apps that are designed and put there to earn you money and not to help me the consumer.  I constantly have to reboot the handset to be able to access apps as the handset crashes repeatedly.
Why have you filled the phones internal memory with spam apps that  cannot be moved to the  card ?
And why won't you offer an exchange to a different handset that does not suffer from these issues such as my wife's Droid or the Galaxy S3  surely you realize that keeping your customers is the key to a healthy business relationship for the future.
If you sell something that is clearly substandard such as the Breakout, you should also be willing to rectify the situation by offering replacements of different phones that DO NOT suffer the  failings of the  current one owned by the  consumer who pays lets  face it a pretty high monthly bill for a degraded and  insufficient service because of the short comings of the handset sold by Verizon and recommended by your staff at your  retail outlets.

  • What is the Unlock Sim (PUK) Now on an pantech breakout

What do I do to unlock my 4G LTE Sim card in my pantech breakout? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Your setup works fine for DV, because you used a DV deck and most likely DV footage. But now you are working with 720p HD footage (what format, BTW? HDV, dvcpro HD?). That same setup won't work for monitoring HD. Now you need an HD box or card to send out a proper HD signal. And since you have an older G5, you won't find any current solutions. You'll have to look at used capture cards that are PCIx. Or you and look at the Matrox MXO, that connects to the computer via a monitor connection. DVI.

  • Email issues with Pantech Breakout

I wonder if anyone else has had this problem.  I got my Pantech Breakout about 3 months ago or so.  After having it for a bit, I set up my email on it.  About 3 weeks ago it was time to change my password for my SBC Global/Yahoo email account and I did so when prompted on my desktop computer.  Don't laugh but for the next day or so, I could not figure out why my email on my phone was not working right.  Ok, so I figured out I needed to change the password in the phone as well for my email - I did it for both outgoing and incoming.  Now, it is acting up again.  I have not changed my password for my email, I've logged on from my desktop computer just to make sure and it is the correct password.  But not according to my 'little bast@rd' breakout, which says the password is incorrect.  I have not had time to call tech support @ Verizon, so thought I would try this.
    Thank you in advance.

You may need to completely delete and re-add the email account.  It may be hanging up on some sort of cache data containing the old password.

  • Is anyone else disappointed in their Pantech Breakout???

I recently purchased a 'pantech breakout', and I'm extremely disappointed in it! Here I was, all excited to finally be getting an android, and what a disappointment this one has been!!! It has hardly any memory. My battery loses it's charge in no time! I've been making sure nothing is running in the background, ever! But, if I don't power it down before starting my shift at work, I can count on the batt being almost dead by lunch! Sooo disappointed!

Yes, I am also disappointed in my two Pantech Breakouts, which were purchased in early January 2012.  I can deal with the rapid battery drain by having the display shutoff quickly, turning off the WiFi when I am not using it and simply carrying an extra charging cable with me and in my car.
What is frustrating me is the low memory errors which result in apps I actually use, not being able to update.  The bottom line cause of this is that almost half of the internal storage on this device is dedicated to pre-installed apps, many of which I don't even use.  These pre-installed apps also cannot be removed or moved to the SD card to free up space.  Discussions both via CHAT and over the phone with tech support have not produced a workaround.  Tech support's response was that it is Google's issue because the Google OS includes pre-installed apps.  I am at the point now that either Verizon  gives me the Pantech purchase price toward a new more usable android model or I lodge a complaint with my state's Attorney General's office that they have violated their contract with me.  I hope others are responding to this issue in a similar manner.

  • Something Weird Happening...on Pantech Breakout

Yes, I have a Panteck Breakout and it's really weird what is happening. Ok when I either go to my Daily Devotions app that I downloaded, or the Handy Memo app that was already downloaded on the phone and I go to share with Facebook at the top of the page where it says  Post to Wall then something that should be in English there is another lanugage...this is where is should say Post but in English. Now when I'm on my Facebook on mobile and am sharing something under status the word Post is in english. Like I said something weird...
    Thanks in Advance :-)

Thank you for taking the time to research this matter. I did delete the app and dowloaded again and presto! it cleared it up. Thanks again!

    Hi Leerod
That is a very wierd issue. Let's see if we can get this fixed. Please try: Menu>settings> applications>manage applications> all> then clear data on all 3 applications and retest.
Have you tried deleting the facebook and devotions application and downloading them again?
I've researched the issue. It may have been a temporary issue with the application. Are you still experiencing problems with the foreign language? Please let me know if this fixes this issue.
    Thank you

  • Insufficient Memory Problem - Pantech Breakout

I have the Pantech breakout, I have had the problem of insufficient memory quite often so I am accustomed to clearing cache and things like that. Normally once my phone shows 35MB avail the icon clears and the phone resumes functioning properly. I have cleared cache and even resorted to deleted apps and freed it up to 42 MB avail yet the icon remains and am having problems with functionality. The LAST thing I want to do is a reboot, it is so time consuming to restore everything and deal with the loss of data. The only thing I can figure is it is affected by the update. Is there a fix for this? P.S. I always love when places "fix" things that aren't broken and break them!

  • Pantech Breakout won't check for updates

For some reason whenever I try to check for updates on my VZW Pantech Breakout (Settings > About Phone > Software Update > Check New) it fails to check for an update and just says "Error occurred during software update. Out of memory".
I have no idea why it's saying this. The problem just started happening randomly. I used to be able to check for updates.
I've tried freeing up internal memory and have made sure my RAM usage is not too high, but the RAM usage is fine and I have plenty of space. Any ideas? I'm sure my phone doesn't have a virus..
I have a stock ROM which received it's second update in July 2012. (It seems I had 2 software updates in my total phone's lifetime).

Hello pacnet2013! I share your interest in assuring that my device has the most recent software. You mentioned in your description that your model (Pantech Breakout) received its most recent update in July 2012. That's confirmed. What I'd like to know is if this is the same update you're trying to install to your Breakout, and if you've been trying since it was relased more than 5 months ago. You can confirm the version on your device by going to Settings> About phone> Baseband version. Thanks!

  • Why isn't the Pantech Breakout Included under Android?

When I purchased my Pantech Breakout, running Jelly Bean, I was assured that it would be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich. Since then I've seen no mention in Verizon's Upgrade release list for the Breakout, and the Pantech Breakout isn't even listed on the Android scroll of phones. Does anybody have any idea if it's an intended upgrade...or was I sold a line of ** to get the sales?!

    Ann154 wrote:
Honestly, I don't even know if the Pantech Breakout meets the hardware requirements for ICS operating system let alone the Jelly Bean version.
yeah, I'd be surprised.  It has the same processor as the Thunderbolt is seriously lacking in RAM which will probably mean it gets left out in the cold. Also it wasn't in Verizon's list of devices expected to be updated that they released back in March. http://news.verizonwireless.com/news/2012/03/bl2012-03-06.html

  • Cannot send or receive text messages on Pantech Breakout

I cannot send or receive text messages on my pantech breakout. Anyone know the solution

There could be many reasons - and you've given us no clues.  Let me ask you some questions that may help us find a solution:
Is this a new phone, or a new account?
Did you recently port your number to Verizon from another carrier?
Did you recently change your plan?
Have you been able to send and receive text messages, with this phone or another Verizon phone?
A few background details will help.

  • Pantech breakout auto mute, how do I turn it off?

With my Pantech Breakout, when I am on a call, if a button is accidentally pushed (by my cheek next to the phone for example),  so that another screen than the current call opens on the - my microphone is automatically muted...I can still hear the call, but the other person can't hear me, I have to take the phone away from my head, get the screen on, and get the screen back to the call that I'm on...and I see that Mute is selected as I get back to the call screen, the mute disengages quickly.
I can't find any settings related to this, is there a way to make it stop?  This happens a couple times a week, I"m in the middle of a conversation and the other person starts saying "hello, are you there, can you hear me?" because my microphone is muted...I can hear them but they can't hear me, and I didn't do anything except brush the screen or a button accidentally.  Really irritating.
    Any way to fix this?
    thanks.
    Christina

I understand your concerns with the sensitive screen on your phone when making calls tinawind! Your phone should automatically blackout when you bring the phone close to your face as the proximity sensor acknowledges that you are answering a phone call. If this is not working properly, try a quick press to the power button to blackout your screen before you bring it close to your ear. Keep us posted.

  • Ringtones and Pantech Breakout

I just got the Pantech Breakout and after reading the book and going through the phone, I cannot figure out how to download ringtones.  This is my first smart phone, so I'm used to an easy to find "get new ringtones" button or something.  Help, please.

    Hi Fairierose,
I customize my phone with different ringtones as well. It makes it easier to know who is calling you when you have a specific ringtone assigned to your contacts.
You can purchase ringtones from the Media Center, at http:www.vzw.com/getitnow or you can search the Android Market for ringtones. Simply access the Market application and use "ringtones" as a keyword.
If using the Media Center, the ringtone will come to your phone as a picture message. You would simply download the tone and then you will have the option to save it as a ringtone.
Both of these options will assist you in receiving ringtones on your new phone. I hope this is helpful for you and other Android users.
    Have a good day,

  • Help me trasfer photos from my Pantech Breakout to my HP pc, plz.

How can I transfer photos from my Pantech Breakout ot my HP pc?

Simply plug into your USB port with the cable that was provided with your phone.  You should get a notification that the USB is plugged and, if you press on the notification, you should be given options of what you would like to do.  Select mass storage, and you can then view the contents of your SD card (and internal storage if the phone has it) and drag and drop the photos to where you want them on your PC.

  • Lost sound on Pantech Breakout

I got a Pantech Breakout as a replacement phone. I had it a few hours and had to mute it for a movie. Came out of the movie, turned the volume back up and despite it saying volume was fully up, the phone has no sound out of it's speaker.
I tried playing a youtube video, making a call on speakerphone and running apps I knew had sounds. No joy. Has anyone else experienced this? I will certainly be headed back to the shop to get this resolved. Had the phone literally six hours and this happened.

        @Jsaq,
Audio is definitely a must for your phone and I'm sure this must be very frustrating for you. But no worries because I'm here to help.
Are you still having this issue with your device or did you already take the phone into a VZW store? Is the issue with the ringer volume and volume when watching videos only? Is the audio ok when on a call?
Let's try rebooting the phone by removing the battery for a minute. Insert and retest.
Keep me posted if the issue persist.

  • Pantech Breakout 376 MB of RAM - not 512 MB

Hey all. I just bought one and noticed that it only has 376 MB of RAM as opposed to the advertised 512 MB that's officially posted on Verizon and all other tech websites.
I also played with two different Breakouts at two separate Verizon stores, and all three (mine + 2 store phones) have 376 MB.
Could you guys check yours (for those who bought one or who've played with it in store) to see if you have 376 MB or the advertised 512 MB?
    Thanks.

The internal storage is 512MB before all the bloatware. Currently I am down to one App.  I only have 17MB left. Verizon Technical support told me that it was a known issue and Pantech had been contacted for a solution.
Even if you install all your apps on the SD card, each app still takes away a little internal storage.  Try uninstalling a SD installed app and watch your internal storage go up.
The breakout is considered a low-cost version of the Android OS. Stay away from any smartphone that only has 512MB of internal storage if you want to add apps and keep up performance.  Other Androids have larger shared memory and you can install apps all day without running out of room. The other problems you are having with the phone is due to the low internal storage memory.
If you have to root your phone to make it work then there is something seriously wrong with the phone.  I can not root my phone because I don't really own it.  It belongs to my employer. My company was only offered a Blackberry an iPhone and the Breakout by Verizon's business sales department. The reviews said the Android was a better OS than Blackberry and iPhone. Plus I would of had to pay out of pocket if I had choose the iPhone. I did not think that was wise when the phone was not mine to keep. I wish they had offered a Windows Phone! That would of been a no brainer.
Until Android, Pantech and Verizon give up the bloatware, that ain't going to happen, you will continue to have problems with this phone. This is no longer a smartphone. It is a STUPIDPHONE hocked to STUPID consumers by three STUPID Companies!
