Pantech Hotshot.. Issues.

My Pantech Hotshot randomly reboots all the time. I bought it new from the store, I've had it for just over a month, never dropped it, it has no water damage. I don't understand why it's having this problem, but it shuts off then turns itself back on multiple times a day. It happens randomly, I could be in the middle of a call, or it could just be lying on the table and I happen to notice it restarting itself. It also doesn't always play my ringtone when I receive a call. I've tried multiple different tones, but it does the same thing with all of them- sometimes it'll play the ringtone when someone calls, other times it's silent and then plays the missed call tone at the appropriate time... Over all, I like the phone, but these issues are starting to get very annoying. Especially it restarting itself when I'm in the middle of a call. Anyone else having problems like this with their Hotshot?

Thanks so much for looking into it.  As I said I REALLY like the phone when it works and don't want to turn it in for something else so hopefully you can get it resolved.
So just to be clear my phone randomly doesn't sound the ringtone but instead it sounds the missed call chime.  But other times it does sound the ringtone like it should.  When it only does the missed call chime I then see the call and phone the person back.  It has happened with my friends and family on Verizon and those who aren't with Verizon.  Not good though if it is a Dr's office which has happened to me twice.  They are so hard to get ahold of so when you get that call you want to be able to answer it.
The other issue which doesn't happen as much to me is that I will be using the phone on a call and then hang up and all the pics that I have saved to pic id for contact numbers are gone.  Same for pics in the pics area.  But if I take the battery out and put it back in they are there.

  • Pantech Hotshot and USB Dumping issue?

    So, recently, I got the Pantech Hotshot. I loved the phone. After about a month of use, I decided to get a microSD card to expand them memory a bit. The thing is, when I put the SD card in and turned the phone on, A screen came up with an illustration of a computer and a cell phone with the word Downloading under the phone illustration. Under that, in bright green letters, there is something that says " *USB Dump..."  This screen has been up for about 24 hours now. I have tried to take the battery out and restart the phone, but the screen came up again. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

    Try removing the SD card and reboot - does the phone come back to normal?  If it does, then reinsert the card and try again.  If you get the same error, try putting the card in your computer (using an adapter and/or card reader) to see what is on the card.
    Normally, the card needs to be formatted prior to adding files to it from your phone, but it happens automatically when the phone detects the card.  For some reason, the phone is not detecting the card properly.  What size (memory capacity) is the card?  Brand? 

  • Is there a way to truly "unlock" my Pantech Hotshot so I can answer it while driving without causing a wreck?

    Okay, maybe I'm just not understanding something, but here goes.  I recently "upgraded" from my 1990's era flip phone to something more "modern", and so far I'm thinking it's one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made.  In my ongoing quest to just be able to actually use my Pantech Hotshot, the most recent situation I'm facing is figuring out an easy way to answer the thing without have to slide up the locking bar and then press another icon.  My wife called me yesterday while I was on the way home, and in trying to fiddle with the blasted thing I missed the call and it went to voicemail.  I then pulled over into an office parking lot to call her back, lest I kill myself and someone else on the road.  Here is the closest thing I find about this issue in the user manual:
    CALL SETTINGS
    Allows you to customize the call settings of your phone. HOME KEY TO ANSWER Allows you to answer incoming calls when you press the Home key. 1. Unlock the screen, tap Settings and then tap Call Settings. 2. Tap ON or OFF next to Home Key To Answer
    In actual usage, all this seems to mean is that I can hit the Home Key to answer the phone, after I have slid up the locking bar.  What I think I'm looking for is a way to totally disable the locking bar so I can just answer phone with going through multiple gyrations while driving.  Any insights on this out there would be most appreciated.
    I do so miss my flip phone.  All I had to when receiving a call was flip it open and say hello.  And pulling up my contact list to make a call was an easy, one-handed operation.  I don't see how fiddling with a touch screen is progress, but maybe I just don't get the big picture.

  • Pantech Hotshot  has horrible signal strength

    I have a Pantech hotshot and tend to have 1/2 of a bar with 3G/1X while in my home.  Other family members on our same plan have much stronger signals within the house.  We also have a verizon wireless home phone line that seems to have fine reception.  Is this inherent in the device or can I do something to improve this?  I've done #228 recently.

    The issue is verizon dumped the modern EVDO REV A network capabilities and went back in time to the EVDO rev 0 (the rev 0 had slower data speeds and less strength) My guess is that if you look at the specs on the other phones, they are EVDO rev A which im my experience had better signal quality. I had the lg versa (rev a Compatible) before my hotshot and the versa always had 3-4of 4 bars for both 3g (EVDO) and 1X whereas my hotshot gets 3 bars of 1x and if im lucky 2 bars of 3g. Verizon implemented these phones to literally be a basic phone and if you want the better signals, more advanced features and 4g capability, then they force you to the smartphone plans. NONE of the feature phones are 4g compatible and they wont be until verizon does away with 3g

  • Pantech Hotshot Alerts Not Working

    I recently started using our son's Pantech Hotshot and cannot get the alarms and calender alerts to work.  The volume is at max and there is a specific tone selected for each.  I have taken out the battery and took off the vibration for the alerts.  It still is not working.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks.

  • Sort Contacts in Pantech Hotshot

    I can sort my contacts in the Backup Assistant by first or last name.  How do I sort them in the phone?  I can't find that option anywhere!

    Usually you can go into the Contacts on the phone, select Menu and there would be an option to sort the contacts. I've researched this and checked the User Manual and do not see that sorting the contacts on the phone is an option available. It is set up by default to sort the contacts in alphabetical order.
    I found a helpful site with the available options to manage your contacts on the Pantech Hotshot. If can also contact Pantech directly for additional assistance.

  • My pantech hotshot will send but not receive text messages

    I have a Pantech Hotshot that was working fine then all of the sudden it quit receiving text messages but it will still send them OK. I have tried pulling the battery and calling *228 but neither of them worked.  Any suggestions?

    Your phone should certainly send/receive messages, copafan. How long have you had this Hotshot? Did you get it brand new? Are you the Account Owner? It sounds like there could be some settings/provisioning that need to be adjusted on your account.   • Download music to Pantech Hotshot

    How do I download music from my computer to my Pantech Hotshot?  Can I download from iTunes?

    be patient. when you connect, after a while an option should come up on the phone where your choose modem mode or mass storage. (if the option doesnt appear and you waited a long time, make sure the battery indicator thing in the top right is showing movement )(looking like its charging) or saying its charged. then go to tools and scroll down to usb mass storage and hit that and it should connect. if not then download the backup assistant plus desktop client from the verizon site. that will install the drivers needed if the mass storage doesnt work) to get the drives to add files, it needs to be in mass storage. if you dont have an sd card installed, then you are limited to a drive of only 10mb. if you do have an sd card, when it switches to mass storage, 2 drives will come up. choose the one that has the folders in it (if the sd card was formatted by the phone). then you see the pictures folder and what no t and you can copy the stuff to and from the card on the computetr.

  • Help with a pantech hotshot

    I recently purchased a pantech hotshot phone.It has worked well for what I need until last night. The keypad works in the upright position, however the key board does not show up when I turn the phone. Am I doing something wrong?

         Congrats on purchasing the Pantech Hotshot. It's an excellent phone that has an array of features to enjoy. This device does have a keypad when the device is in landscape mode. In order to access the keyboard, the device has to be turned counter clockwise. I know that instinctively, we sometimes want to turn the device clockwise but this is not the case to get the landscape keyboard with this device. Once you have done so, please let me know the results.

  • Features won't load on Pantech Hotshot CDM8992

    Hello. My Pantech Hotshot was working fine and out of the blue none of the features will load. If I try to access "My Music", "My Pictures", change ringtones, applications, etc the screen will just say "Loading..." and I'm never able to gain access. I'm still able to call and text fine, but not being able to access anything else is a bit frustrating.
    Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Pantech Hotshot Destroyed

    My Pantech Hotshot is destroyed.  My wife transferred her Pantech Hotshot back to her old LG phone.  Her phone works fine and no loss of data.  Me - Lost everything.  I transferred my number to my wifes Pantech Hotshot and it works - I get calls and texts but my address book cannot be transferred from Backup Assistant to my phone.  I have talked to a Verison Level 1 million tech support and they can't get Backup Assistant to recognize my phone change.  This boggles my mind.  what is Backup Assistant for then?  Does anyone have any suggests for Verison's techie's.

        Hi Tom145,  I am so sorry to hear about your device!  You certainly have a wonderful wife as she was willing to swap phones with you!  Are you getting a specific error when trying to restore the contacts?  Are your contacts still showing online on My Verizon?  Have you tried removing the Backup Assistant app from the phone and re-downloading it?  I look forward to your reply so we can get to the bottom of this!

  • Pantech Hotshot - touch screen buttons activated by cheek

    I am having tons of frustration using the Pantech hotshot.  When I'm talking, the Mute, Speaker Phone, Bluetooth, etc. buttons seem to get activated because of the proximity of the phone to my face.  Often I'm answering the phone in a noisy area and need to hold it close.  Is there any way to adjust the phone's touch sensitivity?

  • Pantech Hotshot

    So I have owned two Pantech Hotshot phones, both of which have failed on me.  A second replacement phone is due to arrive at my house tomorrow.  If this one also fails, then I should just buy another cellphone, return the phone to Verizon Wireless, and let them do whatever they want with it except return it to me.  I would buy a new cellphone with my own money, or just accept another phone from a relative who offered it to me.  The last Pantech Hotshot, the first replacement unit, was a reconditioned unit which failed to subscribe to mobile email and never did get into the mobile web.  The phone I had before that froze and also blacked out when trying to type.
    Can't Verizon just give me a newer and different phone other than the Pantech models, like the LG Cosmos 3? 

    Other than trying to get back into Mobile Email, it has worked fine.  When I called VZ Wireless today about it, they said that the only way I could renew it was to buy a data plan.  Forget it, I told them.  So I will just go through the Mobile Web route and get my email that way.  Only it adds time to whatever data usage I have used and it won't be very much, either.
    I learned that the Mobile Email for the Pantech Hotshot expired on March 28 of this year.  My original Pantech Hotshot had that feature on.  So I had better not be charged $5.00 a month to use the Mobile Email on the present Pantech Hotshot I have now because I can't access it after the free trial run.  When I try to renew it, it only says cancel on the bottom of the display.
    Also, I learned that these phones were made in 2011. That being said, I feel that my first Pantech Hotshot was sold to me as a reconditioned device.  No wonder it failed, as did the second one.  You sold me a really cheap device.
    I should have shopped further and chose an LG Cosmos 3 phone instead.  When the Pantech Hotshot I now have fails, I simply will buy another basic cellphone from Amazon and activate it through Verizon since I am not eligible to buy a new cellphone for less than a buck for two years.

  • Pantech HotShot -- No Ringtones, Alarms, Alerts, or Speakerphone!!!

    I'm having a problem with HotShot. I've had this phone for more than a year, & I would occassionally have the problem of no ringtone but I would hear the missed call/voicemail alert. I just brushed it off & chalked it up to having crappy reception in my house (which I do). 2-3 weeks ago, a new issue started. None of my ringtones will play, none of my alerts or alarms will sound, & the speakerphone doesn't work either. I took out the battery & put it back in, and I even did a complete factory restore/reset on the phone & nothing has worked. I have both reprogrammed the phone & updated the roaming capabilities, and I have made sure that I have the most current software update. When the main volume is up (at any level), I am able to hear the touch tones when I'm selecting options on the screen, dialing a number, or texting, but none of the other sounds work. HELP!!!

        Thanks for trying so many things to get your phone working again, SouthernFlayva. Both issues you've described don't seem to be very commonly reported for such a great phone. Although we don't manufacture the phone, we definitely want to make sure we get your phone working so you can enjoy our network. Has your phone been exposed to any liquid or physical damage? Are you hearing the touch tones through the same speaker that the ringtones and musinc would play? Are you able to listen to music through the speaker?

  • Pantech Jest issues

    The alarm on my phone doesn't go off everytime.  My "Ok" button sensor doesn't respond sometimes so I have to give it a few seconds before I try it again.  And my screen goes black every once in awhile.  If I slide it up and down 1x/2x, it usually comes back on.  But all my issues are at random times so I can't even reproduce them.  I've read that others have had problems with it freezing.  Luckily I haven't had that problem yet.  And my battery power is fine as well so I'm good there.  Has anyone had the same issues I have?  I upgraded to this phone in Sept. and have already switched it out once.  I don't want to play the "switching phone" game.  I did that with my previous Samsung phone and never remedied the problems.  I've called customer service and they transferred me to tech support.  They told me to upgrade my software so I tried that but I already have the latest software.  And because my upgrade isn't up until May 2012, they can't give me a new phone with a new 2-yr contract.  All I want is to get a different phone with another 2-yr contract.  It's not like I'm asking for a free phone or something...  Ugh!  I'm really frustrated to say the least!!!  The worst part is that my husband has the same phone so we're both stuck with issues!!!  Ack~!  Any suggestions/recommendatons?!  Thanks.

    That's basically what tech support told me as well.  Or a third option is to add another line with a new 2-yr contract and pay an extra $9.99/mo.  All that really bites!  Why does VZW carry a phone that doesn't work properly!?!  Tech support said it's an electronic device and all electronic devices can fail.  My TV, DVD/Bluray player, digital camera, household applicances, etc. don't fail until it's been years if they even fail before I upgrade.  Before buying this phone, I read the reviews and everyone complained about the "Ok" button sensor - how to use it by sliding your finger across, etc.  If that was the only issue, I'd love my phone as that's a non-issue for me.  With so many people having issues with this phone, I don't know why VZW isn't providing a better solution!!!  Worst case scenario, I may just end my contract and go to another provider if I don't have a satisfactory outcome...  It really shouldn't be this hard...
