Pantech Jest issues

The alarm on my phone doesn't go off everytime.  My "Ok" button sensor doesn't respond sometimes so I have to give it a few seconds before I try it again.  And my screen goes black every once in awhile.  If I slide it up and down 1x/2x, it usually comes back on.  But all my issues are at random times so I can't even reproduce them.  I've read that others have had problems with it freezing.  Luckily I haven't had that problem yet.  And my battery power is fine as well so I'm good there.  Has anyone had the same issues I have?  I upgraded to this phone in Sept. and have already switched it out once.  I don't want to play the "switching phone" game.  I did that with my previous Samsung phone and never remedied the problems.  I've called customer service and they transferred me to tech support.  They told me to upgrade my software so I tried that but I already have the latest software.  And because my upgrade isn't up until May 2012, they can't give me a new phone with a new 2-yr contract.  All I want is to get a different phone with another 2-yr contract.  It's not like I'm asking for a free phone or something...  Ugh!  I'm really frustrated to say the least!!!  The worst part is that my husband has the same phone so we're both stuck with issues!!!  Ack~!  Any suggestions/recommendatons?!  Thanks.

That's basically what tech support told me as well.  Or a third option is to add another line with a new 2-yr contract and pay an extra $9.99/mo.  All that really bites!  Why does VZW carry a phone that doesn't work properly!?!  Tech support said it's an electronic device and all electronic devices can fail.  My TV, DVD/Bluray player, digital camera, household applicances, etc. don't fail until it's been years if they even fail before I upgrade.  Before buying this phone, I read the reviews and everyone complained about the "Ok" button sensor - how to use it by sliding your finger across, etc.  If that was the only issue, I'd love my phone as that's a non-issue for me.  With so many people having issues with this phone, I don't know why VZW isn't providing a better solution!!!  Worst case scenario, I may just end my contract and go to another provider if I don't have a satisfactory outcome...  It really shouldn't be this hard...

    I have the Pantech Jest, have for about a year. I never really have issues with it. I know its not a smart phone so theres not much you can do on the internet. theres not much i look to do except check my email and facebook. Its been working fine with those until recently.     I know not being able to use your phone how you're use to, or supposed to be able to can be very frustrating.  Have you tried removing the battery from the phone for about 20 seconds?  You can also try clearing the temporary Internet files, as the phone may have a lot of memory/ usage with the applications used, such as Facebook, e-mails, etc.  For steps to clear the temporary Internet files, please select the following link:  Clear Temporary Internet Files

  • Pantech Jest 2 Headphone Jack

    I will never understand why the last few phones I have purchased come with a 2.5mm headphone jack rather than a standard 3.5mm, but.....the Pantech Jest 2 is among them.
    I have never bothered to try to connect them before because I could never find a set of headphones that would fit the jack.  I recently found an adapter (from 2.5mm to 3.5mm) at Radio Shack and bought 2 so that I could finally use my phones as mp3 players.  The problem is, I have tried both adapters on 2 different Jest 2s, also tried hooking the phone up to regular headphones and also mp3 speakers, and the sound still comes through the cell phone rather than the audio line out.
    Is there a setting in the phone that I am overlooking or something?  I have read the manual and there is literally no reference to this or any other issue related to the headphone jack other than that it exists.   Searching turns up other people asking the same question but none have been answered.  Anyone have any ideas?

    Yes...I had done the same when I went to Radio Shack, showed them my phone and explained what I needed.  I actually bought 2 because I have multiple Jests, and tried them both.  Not sure why they don't work.  It is simple hardware and shouldn't be dependent on models, etc.
    I went in to Target yesterday and found a "headset" package that is made specifically for cell phones and my model was listed, a 2.5mm adapter was included.  I bought 2 of these @ $21 each.  These DO work and I was even able to use a standard audio cable to connect it to mp3 speakers and my car stereo.  However, I am extremely disappointed in the performance of these phones.  When you play the music through the phones speakers, it sounds normal.  But once passed through the jack-which is only capable of mono and not stereo-it sounds terrible. 
    Frankly I don't know why they bothered to make this phone an mp3 player.  It can't be plugged into any headphones or audio devices and sound as was intended.  Really, MONO?

  • Sent text messages disappearing from Pantech Jest

    I have a Pantech Jest and have noticed when going back through text conversations that all of my "sent" messages have been deleted/erased even though I did not delete/erase them. Has anyone else had this problem? It's extremely frustrating.

    its not just a few days. what is happening is your phone is erasing messages yo make room for new ones. if you text a lot and dont erase your inbox and outbox for a couple days, you will reach the max amount the phone has allotted for text message memory. And because your memory is getting full and we all turn off the auto erase inbox option, the phone resorts to deleting your sent messages instead. the advice i can give is to kinda watch how many total messages (in and out) you have between all your conversations and when you start getting near the range of 100-120 incoming, start kinda clearing room before your phone just erases them. also make sure your auto save sent option is turned on in your messaging settings

  • Pantech Jest won't let me move media (photos, ringtones, etc) to media card.

    I upgraded one of my phones from the Pantech Jest to a Droid Razr maxx.  I am trying to retrieve the ringtones I made (not ones bought) and pictures I took from the phone's memory.  When I try to move all to the memory card it stops and says it is incomplete.  Why can't I move any of my media to the data card? The phone is no longer activated but I should still be able to retrieve my data off of it.  I've tried Backup Assistant Desktop App, but it keeps crashing.

    Do you only have media on the external or is your whole iTunes library there?  A complete iTunes library is the  library files, supporting files and folders, and media files.  Media files are just media files.  Hint: Easiest is if it is the whole thing and portable.  It can be relocated when it is not together but it may involve a lot more steps with varying degrees of success.

  • I can't be heard when I make a call  - Pantech Jest

    Suddenly, whenever I make a call on my Pantech Jest, I can't be heard on the other end.  I think, occaisionally they can hear something, but not much.  Mostly it is as if it were muted, but it isn't.  Unfortunately, I'm assuming the problem is the result of my baby getting his hands on the phone and playing with it, but he didn't smash it or anything that would cause obvious damage.  I've only had the phone for 2 months, so I'd love to find a way to get it working again that didn't require getting a new one.  If anyone has any ideas, I'd really appreciate it!

    We just started having this problem too.  Got our phone in December 2010. No baby playing with it, so maybe that's not the reason yours started having trouble either.  Did you find a solution?

  • Bing on Pantech Jest

    I just got the Pantech Jest for Christmas. I tried downloading Bing onto it from my phone but it won't let me. I am on a prepaid plan. I went to the Download onto my phone and clicked Bing but it won't download. I tried downloading from the verizon site, but it says it's not compatible with my phone. When clearly, it is on the phone and on the compatible list of phones, it's on there. Is it because i am prepaid? Also, I saw that pantech jest could get Social Beat. But it's not on my phone. Is that because i'm prepaid again? Please help. Thank you in advance!!

    I have had two Pantech jest's so far, the first one wouldnt stay on unless it was on the charger, then it started working fine again, and then one day it turned off and never turned back on. and now I have my second one which is not the first or second pantech jest, its like just a back up one the company makes if yours breaks. But anyway  I just got my second one over summer and now it wont stay on unless the phone is plugged into the charger, last time the guy that was telling me what was wrong with it and said that if you use a phone charger that is to a different kind of phone or company it kills your battary and I beleive thats what happend again because I have use a sprint charger now because my other one had gotten chewed up by a dog. Now that this phone is slowly breaking I will not end up getting a new phone because they would not let me put ensurance on the new phone because i have had 4 phones from verizon and they all had ensuearnce and all broke someone so I ended up getting all my new ones free, but I guess I'll have to go without a phone now. But your phone might have stopped working because your son might have used someone elses phone charger at some point.

    I have a Pantech Jest and when I try to sign in on Facebook with Social Beat, it won't allow me to because it is not providing Facebook with the proper password.
    I have numbers in my FB password and when I press the function key on my phone to use a number, it enters the function key as a *  !  UGH, I got a data package just to use FB in Social Beat and now I can't use it!

    Use the computer you normally sync with to download the desired music. Then import them to iTunes on your computer and sync your iPad to the computer to transfer the songs to your iPad.

  • Pantech Jest is horrible

    I am about to receive my 3rd Pantech Jest.  I am very aggravated that the phone keeps locking up, making it useless.  Verizon just wants to keep sending me another Jest.  This phone is horrible... Why would I want another one.  I just want a phone that works so I can use the service I pay for.  Why is that too much to ask????

    I have had the very same problems you all have had!  This phone really sucks!  I have had the battery replaced twice and the phone replaced twice.  Well, I finally had enough and called customer service, AGAIN, and told the service person my problem.  My only course of action was to upgrade to a new phone.  That cost me another $150 and my yearly upgrade was set back to 2013!  GRRRRR!!!  I decided it might be worth it since I'm tired of the phone shutting off, freezing up and basically being a pain in the butt.  I'm going to post a complaint on the Motorola site as well.  I feel that if a phone has this many complaints, Verizon should have some kind of policy to replace that phone with a phone equal to the one that is not working.  Paying a company for a service and not having the reassurance that they will back their products, is not in the best interest of the company.  People are going to move to another company that will back their products and provide their customers the best service they can.
    One more thing: My husband was offered this phone and was purchased off the website.  When I went to get some help setting it up, the bozos, sorry, people in the Verizon store had never even see the phone before or knew anything about it.  "Sorry, you bought this on line.  We can't help you with it."  What??!!!  I thought maybe this particular store was out of the loop so I went to another store.  Same thing.  Now, answer me this: how can Verizon sell a phone online and not have the stores be able to help the customer?  Sound reasonable to you all?
    Ok.  Off my soapbox now.
    Bottom line: The Jest is the worst phone I have ever had.

  • Pantech Jest caller id

    I have had my Jest since June and cannot figure out how to get the caller id to work on incoming calls from my "contact list."  It doesn't even show incoming phone numbers...only "unavailable."!!
    It works to id "contact list" text messages, but not calls.  I took it to two Verizon stores and it stumped them too.

    Caller ID displays the number of the person calling when your phone rings. If the caller’s identity is stored in Contacts, the name appears on the screen. The caller ID is stored in the Recent Calls menu.
    Make sure that contacts are saved using 10 digits for the number.  
    Ensure that the Caller ID feature is active on your line, you can view that feature on the bill, or under features in your My Verizon Account online.  
    Make sure the caller id readout is off under Menu, Settings and Tools, Sound Settings, Call Sounds and Caller ID readout. 
    1. Slide the phone up, press the [MENU], then press 9. Settings & Tools, 5. Sounds Settings, 2. Call Sounds, 3. Caller ID Readout.
    Turn on the ERI Banner to show if you are in a Verizon Wireless Service area. 
    1. Slide the phone up, press the [MENU], then press 9. Settings & Tools, 6. Display Settings, 2. Banner, 2. ERI Banner.
    2. Select On or Off, then press the OK Key [SET].
    Power the device off then remove the battery for about 1 minute, then power the device back on, then dial *228 send and option 1.

    I'm in Europe right now and put a German SIM card in, but I can't switch the phone manually to GSM mode because it's greyed out (CDMA is the only choice)...does this mean I needed to get my phone unlocked before leaving the States?

    I never judge anybody elses contributions, I merely like to point out errors and mis-information.  I posted this sarcastically for the simple fact that this phone offers all the features and functions as many of the 3GMM phones without requiring a data plan.  So one would think that it being available would be good news for the non-data crowd.  But I'm sure we will quickly discover that just because Verizon has offered a phone that meets the need, doesn't offset the fact that the MAJORITY of the non-data crowd want to dictate to Verizon which phones THEY should be allowed to own without data.  Do you disagree?  Or is it just possible that we have arrived at the point where some people are just whining to hear themselves whine?
    Oh and by the way ironically Verizon will even give you this phone for free with a new 2 yr agreement.

    It also forgets calendar reminders when the power is cycled. The screen sometimes flashes back off when unlocking the front cover. There are simply software issues since everyone is trying to make the new phone quckly instead of making the new phone correctly... and apparently not following up with software updates either.
    I don't blame pantech, I blame the verizon base software. My last verizon phone also had calendar reminder issues, the alarms time gets updated at the same time the daylight savings time does (making you an hour off)... and I expect the same from this phone.
    I got the phone new on 24JUL2011 (2mos old) and it's had these issues from day one - the last phone I had for ~3 years.

    I do understand your frustrations and concerns with the Pantech Crux issues!  I would be happy to further assist.
    Can you tell me what software version is installed on your Crux?  Check by going to Settings (from Home Screen) > Phone Info > Then tap SW/HW Version.  Just to advise you, our Product Team is aware of the issues and are working diligently to provide our customers a permanent fix.
