Paper Feed Jam for Officejet 6310

Hi Everyone,
I have a 2 year old HP Officejet 6310 that very recently started jamming whenever I try to print or copy something.  The jams occur with standard letter-sized paper.  When the printer tries to print a document, the paper jams as its feeding.  It seems as if the printer thinks the paper is more narrow than it really is.  the paper gets bunched up sidways.
I've tried cleaning the rollers with deionized water, but the problem still occurs.
Any suggestions on what might be the problem?  Do I need to service this printer or is there something else I can try.
Thanks in advance.

I have client with same printer & problem.  looks like the pick roller is not turning when the printer is trying to pickup paper.  am suggesting they replace that unit it is about 2 or more years old and has done a good job up until now.  have reconditioned roller as best as can be done without disassembly (that would be too costly).

  • LJ 1100 Paper Feeder Jammed - Asking for Advice

My LJ1100 just broke, the drive may have stripped a gear, it makes a buzzing sound and won't pull the paper through. If anybody has an idea on how to  get into the rear where the paper drive is, I would appreciate it. It is not accessible through the toner compartment in the front. Wish I had an IPB. I don't know where to unfasten the back of the box, or if it can be put back together without special tools. The only HP-certified printer shop in the yellow pages for a hundred miles around this smallish city just told me that they stopped fixing printers the first of the month unless you buy an annual contract for on-site service, and I am already stuck with the cost of a new  type 92 toner cartridge that I put in it, 3 days before it stopped printing, so, I am stuck if I can't fix it myself.
If you can tell me how to get into the paper-feeder's mechanism, I will try to make the LJ 1100 useable again, and will not need to recycle it for several more years, I hope. Like a lot of people, I am laid off and out of work now, and don't want to buy another one until I can get a job to pay for it.

  • LaserJet 4L paper feed jams.

As the LaserJet 4L picks up the paper from the paper tray, it jams.  It has done this before and I have been able to fix it by  opening the drawer and  turning the wheel behind the black plastic rectangular thing on the far left and "messing" with the "rubberized" thing just to the right that seems to pick up the paper.
After attempting to fix it, the printer will usually print one page and then jam on the next page.
Love the printer, don't want to put it out to pasture.

Mine was picking up the paper then jamming just as it passed the main feed wheel. Ussually the first page would print but then the second page would stop right as the paper started passing under the smoked plastic sheild on top.  Finally fixed it by taking things appart and cleaning the two solenoids that control the feed events. One solenoid controls the D wheel that pickups up the paper - you can see the little metal lever against the D wheel when the paper tray is removed - the other is hidden inside the main roller assembly. Both the solenoids used some type of bumper tape (to stop the metal to metal clicking) that has deteriorated and left a sticky adhesive behind. This sticking is what throws off the timing and causes the jam. This adhesive need to be cleaned off and the machine should run again as new. I've had my 4L for 20 years, and hated to throw it out, it otherwise still prints great and the toner can be had cheap. Just fixed mine and it once again running perfect. Now I'm interested to see just how long I can keep this workhorse going. kudos to the old HP.
I took a bunch of pictures of the disasembly process if anyone is interested. Tricky at first, but only took 5 minutes the second time. (I only found the one solenoid the first time and had to go back in for the second)

  • Paper feed problem with OfficeJet CL7680

The paper feed roller does not drop to pickup the paper and then I get a load paper message.  I have tried resetting the default by unplugging and holding down the OK and cancel button as I turn on the machine but the problem persists.  I took the  machine into my local copy machine repairman who has worked on HP printers before and his analysis was the same as mine.  He basically said this is a "throw away" machine, go out a buy a new one.  Other than the paper feed roller not dropping down, the machine works perfectly and I would rather repair if if possible that spend the money for a new one that I have no confidence in.

Call Epson tech support as you are still under warranty w/them.

  • Tutorial: Print index cards without removing paper from tray for Officejet Pro 8000.

The HP Officejet Pro 8000 and Officejet Pro 8000 wireless do not have a slot for inserting index cards and envelopes.
If you are wanting to print index cards without removing the paper from the tray, follow these steps.
The steps below are for 3 x 5 index cards.
    1.) Open Microsoft Word
2.) Go to the Insert tab and insert a rectangle shape
3.) Draw a rectangle of any size
4.) Right click on the rectangle and select "Format Autoshape..."
5.) Under the Size tab, enter 5" for the height and 3" for the width (make sure "Absolute" is selected)
6.) Under the Layout tab, select "Center" for the horizontal alignment
    7.) Click OK
8.) Use the keyboard up arrow key to move the rectangle to the top of the page.  Make sure the top edge of the rectangle touches the top edge of the document.
9.) Print this document on plain 8.5" x 11" paper
10.) When you want to print an index card, place this 8.5x11 document in the paper tray printed side face up.  Then place an index card over the rectangle and align with the border of the rectangle.  After you print the index card, remove the 8.5x11 paper for the next time you need to print an index card.
Note 1: This are USA instructions.  If you live in the UK or other countries you may have different paper size standards.

I can't tell you how much I HATE this printer.  I will never buy an HP product again.  BROTHERS printers are simply and easy to use.

  • Common paper feed mechanisms for C5500 series printers

    Hi,
I have a C5580 pritner, and the other day we had a paper jam that resulted in one of the gears that drives the pick up rollers getting stripped (4 teeth now missing.)  We bought it 02/13/09, which means it is about week an half out of warranty.
Since we just bought new ink cartridges (at $80), I'm not wild about dropping another $140+ on a brand new printer, when I all I need is a little plastic gear that I'm sure costs around $.05.  HP does not sell parts this small, so I can't get a replacement from them.
So... I've been looking on e-bay and craigslist for similar printers which are cheap/broken in the hope of harvesting them for parts.
I know the C5500 series (C5540, C5550, and C5580) use the same mechanism, and the C5240, C5250, and C5280 look similar as well.  I also think the D5360 uses the same mechanism.  However, as these are all fairly new printers, I'm not having much luck finding good parts doners.
Does anyone know which other printers share the same mechanism?  I found a pretty cheap C6280, but while these have the same styling, they use that 6-ink tank system rather than the #74/75 cartridges, so I don't know if the paper pick mechanism is the same.  I do know that the C4200 series, while using the same cartridges, has a different paper pick mechanism, and the gears are the wrong size.
Along those lines... anyone have a broken C5500 or C5200 series that they would be willing to part-out?
    Thanks!

So, I just typed this nice, long post about my SOLUTION to this problem, and apparently the forum didn't like it and deleted it.  I'll have it up in the next couple days.

  • Windows 8.1 will not install the driver for Officejet 6310 All-in-One

Have downloaded the driver from the HP website, but it will not install. The download wizard "detected a problem with the driver software" but did not say how to resolve it. The option to download the software was still available, so I did that anyway. When attempting to execute from my hard-drive, extraction occurs, followed by a delay, and then a message that reads "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way". This is in an error box headed "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library".  Can anyone help please?

    Hi AB-Comp,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand that your are seeing the error The download wizard "detected a problem with the driver software". I am happy to help you with this issue! I have some questions for you:
What Operating System are you using? Windows or Mac? What version?
Can you make copies with the printer?
How is the printer connected? Wireless, Ethernet, or USB?
Is the power cable plugged into a surge protector or directly to the wall outlet?
Hope to hear from you, and thank you for posting!

  • HP officeJet all in one 6310 paper feed issues at input tray

what could be the cause of my HP officejet 6310 printer intermitantly grabbing multiple pieces of paper at the input tray?
I have been using the same paper for over a year or 2 with no issues up to the last few months. I have blown out any dust and tried to clean the rollers with alcohol to no avail. Is it a part worn or did I not clean the right part?
It seems to happen more often with less sheets in tray. any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
Here is a link to a document that covers paper feed issues on the OJ 6310.  There's a video which shows some steps about what to do.  Even though you have cleaned rollers the video may contain more information about cleaning other rollers that you may not have cleaned.

  • I have a Officejet Pro L7680 AIO. Keep getting paper jams at the tray paper feed.

I have tried all remedies and nothing works.  The paper is jamming on the right side of the feed.  I cannot tell if this is because the left side rollers are not working or if it is pulling the paper in too fast on the right.  Can anyone offer any suggestions short of taking it somewhere for service?

This seems to be a commercial product. For the best chance at finding a solution I would suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support!

  • Paper Jam for HP PSC 1610 All-in-One Printer

Paper Jam for HP PSC 1610 All-in-One Printer:
I had a paper jam and cleared the paper from the printer.  Now every time I turn the printer "on" it picks up the top piece of paper from the tray and runs it about ½  to ¾ of the way thru the paper feed, stops, and then displays message "paper jam clear paper and then press OK".  When I do that it simply picks up the next piece of paper off the tray and does the message again.  If I push the OK button on the printer it will simply finish the ejection and then pick up the next paper from the tray, and do the same thing.  I have examined the interior (and exterior) of the printer for paper scraps and  any other obvious sign of trouble (dirty drive wheels, missing rollers, broken springs, etc...) and can not see anything unusual. I can not print a test print because of the paper jam message.  I am running Windows XP and the printer has been working fine for months (until this recent jam).  I did all the steps from the HP fix it site including clean rollers, plug and unplugged,  carriage travel OK and more. Don't know what to do now........Any help would be great!!!!   Thank you!

  • Officejet 6500 E709N - paper feed wiggles/hitches

Paper feed is giving little wiggles two or three times per sheet, affecting printed pages and scans through the ADF, but not flat scanning. Is there some cleaning or lubricating  I can do?

Hi , I suspect that link was expected to direct you to a paper jam document. A paper jam document will help guide you through the necessary steps to clean the rollers and such. Try this link: A 'Paper Jam' Error Displays on the HP Officejet 6500A and 6500A Plus e-All-in-One Printer Series. I hope this helps.

  • Officejet K550 Pro: Paper Feed Problems

About a year or two ago, we purchased a K550 unit for our office, and 3 subsequent units for employees' personal use.  At first, everything went great - it was the best inkjet printer I or my staff had ever owned!  After a month of great service, my staff and I recommended this product to customers demanding a printer with low cost of ownership and fast, high-quality printing.  However, after about 3 months of service, all of our units began developing paper feed problems in about the order they were purchased, depending on their usage (the older units first, unless they were used more than other units).
It started with an occasional failure to pickup a new sheet during a print job, slowly progressed to having to hand-feed the printer to get it started on a job and supervising the printer throughout the job to clear the occasional feeding problems during the job, and erupted into a continuous hand-feeding of every sheet of every job through all of these printers, all the time.  We immediately replaced, at our cost, all of the 15 customer units, 3 employee units and 1 internal unit that were purchased by us or on our recommendation with other HP devices, even after several customers willingly contacted HP and were sent warranty replacement new and refurbished units that also failed.  The only three K550 printers that remain in service with us or our customers (one in our office and two others with customers who requested to keep the units we replaced) fail to pick up any paper out of the main tray an astonishing 93%, 98% and 100% of the time, respectively.  This is not an exaggeration, these are documented numbers rounded down when applicable).
I've perused many online sites, forums and websites on this topic - both professional and non - and found this to be a common problem with what seems to be a very great number of these units.  Some folks also mention a problem with the K/Y (black/yellow) printhead, but neither I nor any of our customers have experienced this problem.  In solving this feeding problem, we've tried different brands, weights and chemical makeups of paper (HP paper works well, but Staples brand paper of standard weight and 97 bright works best), tried different loading strategies for each paper type (such as fanning the paper before loading and before printing, light, moderate and heavy loads in the standard tray), tried installing a duplexing device (HP OEM of course), tried installing the larger paper tray (also HP OEM) and flashing different firmware supplied by HP - all to no avail.  None of the units have any aftermarket parts, kits, ink cartridges or printheads - everything installed and used in these printers is OEM, except for occasional special papers or label sheets.  So where does this leave us?  More importantly - where does this leave my customers who I prematurely recommended this product to?
We're looking for a solution from HP.  We've tried customer service and have opened several issues without resolution.  I'm tired of my employees and myself dealing with this issue only to be told how to load paper and to flash the same firmware on the same device for the third, fourth and fifth times.  We have 16 defective units in storage and 3 units in partial service for a total of 19 units.  Accounting for these 19 units:  we lightly use 1; we sold and supported 15 of these within our customer base and 3 to our employees, all of which we replaced with other HP products (again, at our cost), and 2 customers decided to keep 1 defective unit each.  As a result, both myself and my company are out big money because of this issue.  We replaced all of our supported K550's with other HP devices only after unsuccesfully attempting resolution with HP.
If there are replacement parts that address and resolve this conflict available, where can I obtain them?  If there is a simple remedy, what is it?  What can we do to mitigate this situation and yield a positive outcome?  The K550 is an outstanding printer in terms of speed and print quality, unfortunately its unreliability due to poor feeding performance and need for constant supervision and user intervention doom this model to the component recycler's scrap heap.  Do you have a solution?  Are you experiencing the same problems?  I want to know!

So, I just typed this nice, long post about my SOLUTION to this problem, and apparently the forum didn't like it and deleted it.  I'll have it up in the next couple days.
