Paper selection on Pixma MX860

When printing from Acrobat Pro X (and similarly from Pro 8), I can only select paper from the rear bin of the printer.  There are two bins (cassette and rear).  There is no place to select the bin in the Acrobat print dialog, but if I click on the "Printer" button, I get the usual dialog:
"The Print Setup dialog box is provided by the operating system. To ensure that you can use the full print capabilities of Acrobat, please set all print options from the Application print dialog box. Do you want to continue?"
And if I continue and select the cassette, it still selects from the rear tray.  Does anyone know how to select a different supply bin?

  • Canon PIXMA MX860 driver problems with OSX 10.7.5

Somewhere along the road of updates, I have lost the ability to have my Canon PIXMA MX860 recognize the envelope feeder.  Does anyone have a suggestion what I need to do to get all of my printer's functions working again?  I am on OSX 10.7.5 with a 17" MacBook Pro.  I have also loaded the latest drivers that came from Apple updates.

Tested the Envelope facility in Word 2011 and I was able to print on the envelope loaded in the rear tray.
After I created my envelope I selected the Print button.
This made the normal print dialog appear. I clicked on the Copies & Pages menu and selected Quality & Media.
And from this pane I selected Envelope and Rear Tray. I then pressed Print and the address printed on the envelope.
This test was using the v10.72.1.0 driver for the MX860.

    Hi,
I recently bought a Canon PIXMA MX860. I want to print wirelessly via bluetooth from my computer, but an error message keeps on popping up "Error Number : 311 Printer is in use or an error has occurred. If an error has occurred eliminate the cause of the error."
I updated to all the newest drivers. I tried looking at the gutenprint drivers, but I couldn't find one that works with the Canon PIXMA MX860. Any help would be much appreciated!

  • Why don't I see a paper selection in File-print

Why is there no paper selection in File-Print?

In Firefox 4 you no longer have the Status bar that showed the padlock in previous Firefox versions.<br />
The padlock only shows that there is a secure connection and doesn't guarantee that you are connected to the right server.<br />
So you might still be connected to the wrong server if you make a typo in the URL and someone has claimed that mistyped URL.<br />
The functionality of the padlock has been replaced by the [[Site Identity Button]] on the left end of the location bar.

  • Fine Art paper selection greyed out.

I am using PS5 with a MAcBook Pro (OS_X 10.7.5) with an Epson 3880 printer. The paper selection menu greys out Fine Art papers. I need to use those papers. Don't know how to fix this. Need help.

The selection of media type is tied to the paper feed path...some media such as fine art watercolor needs to be maunally fed. Once you select a manual feed path you should be able to access the fine art paper selections.

  • Canon PIXMA MX860 error message ScanGear

When I click on my Scanner (I put MP Navigator EX in my Dock), the application opens, but then a window opens that states:
    ScanGear Searching for Scanners
Do you want the application "MP Navigator EX 2.1 app" to accept incoming connections?
I have to then click "Allow"
Setting can be changed in the Firewall panel of Security & Privacy preferences.
I have gone into the Firewall panel of Security & Privacy and added the scanner and the MP Navigator EX 2.1 app to allow incoming connections; I have also updated all software I could find relative to the Canon PIXMA MX860 on the Canon website.
But every time I try to use my scanner, I have to click on the "Allow" button, as if I never changed the settings int he Firewall panel.
It's not a big deal, just a nuisance to have to keep on clicking the Allow button every time I want to use the scanner.  Any thoughts?

  • Canon PIXMA MX860 printer on Snow Leopard

After upgrading from OS 10.4.11 Tiger to OS 10.6.4 Snow Leopard, my Ethernet connected MX860 stopped working. The original "PIXMA MX860 series Setup CD-ROM" returned an "unsupported" s/w error when started. After working with a Canon tech for a while and downloading the items below from the Canon web site, the MX860 is back in service and all appears fine. Note: some of the items were only downloaded for completeness and are not needed to drive the MX860 printer & scanner.
    DRIVERS:

Hello and welcome to Apple Discussions.
On OS X Server, you need to use the Server Admin utility (Applications > Server ) to share the local print queue. This requires the Print service to be added/started and then a queue created for the local printer.
Seems unusual that you would want to share a wireless printer from the server. The MacBook 'clients' would still be able to connect directly to this printer without having to connect via the server share so without knowing all the details of your setup it just seems an odd requirement.

  • HP Laserjet 2200dtn paper select issue

I have an HP Laserjet 2200dtn connected via jet direct with a direct ip. I can print to the device with one issue. All print jobs using the "Automatically Select" option for paper tray go to the manual tray and require me to tell the printer to continue. Prior to Snow Leopard the driver would go to the first available paper feed drawer (if paper was in manual it would go there, otherwise it went to either tray 2 or tray 3 on its on). Any Ideas? I would rather the printer automatically select tray 3 to print from and have me manually select tray 1 when I need it.
    Thanks.

Chances are the printer has a small bit of paper that is still jammed in it. When paper jams always try to pull in the direction of the paper path! If it tears then remove the toner cartridge to see if you can see any bits of paper inside. I have the Laserjet 1012 which is a similar design, early in it's life I had a similar issue, after removing the toner cartridge and seeing all bits of paper were gone I still got an error. I then removed the top cover of the printer, located and removed the offending piece of paper, put it back together and now several thousands of pages later all is fine.
If that doesn't work then contact HP's support (they will reply to an email with 24 hours) or go the chat route. If you try to call because you are well out of warranty there will be charge.

  • Paper Selection in Elements 9.

    Hi,
I have recently switched from a PC to a Mac and am using Photoshop Elements 9.  I am trying to print out a photograph on an Epson printer but cannot find within the menu's (in elements) how to select the paper type.  I could do it without a problem in windows but am stuck on where I make the selection on my Mac.
I have looked online at various 'how to' websites but they all seem to refer to an earlier version of OS X, I am using Lion by the way.
Any help would be most appreciated - thank you.

Ah ha - just cracked it without thinking about it - so forget the above question!! Thanks

  • PIXMA MX860, OS X 10.9.4, OS X 10.10. Printer not printing black

Printer will print black when I print a test page from the printer, but will not print black when I print a selection from either my MacBook (OS X 10.10 Yosemite) or my iMac (OS X 10.9.4 Mavericks).  What gives?
I did print a test page from the Canon Utility on my MacBook, and it prints black.  Still wondering.

    Hi trexnb,
First, please make sure that the installed ink tanks are correct and full of ink.  The correct order is:
    CLI-221BK
    CLI-221M
    CLI-221Y
    PGI-220BK
    CLI-221C
Next, please print the nozzle check pattern to determine whether the ink is ejecting properly from the print head. To do this, please follow these steps:
     1.  Make sure that the machine is turned on, then load a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder or the Cassette.
     2.  Open the Paper Output Tray and then open the Output Tray Extension.
     3.  Press the Paper Feed Switch to select the paper source where you have loaded paper.
     4.  To print the nozzle check pattern:
         4-1.  Press the Menu button.
4-2.  Select Maintenance, then press the OK button.  The Maintenance screen is displayed.
4-3.  Select Nozzle check pattern and then press the OK button.  The pattern print confirmation screen is displayed.
4-4.  Select Yes and then press the OK button.
The nozzle check pattern is printed and the pattern confirmation screens are displayed alternately.
Examine the nozzle check pattern (example is at bottom of post), and perform cleaning if necessary.
Please perform the following steps to perform a Deep Cleaning:
     1.  Press the MENU button.
     2.  Select Maintenance then press the OK button.
     3.  Press <OK> to select Maintenance.
     4.  Select Deep Cleaning and press OK.
     5.  Press OK to select Yes.
The Deep cleaning will be performed.  After 2 or 3 cleanings, print another test page.
Does the test page print correctly?  If not, please contact our support group using the following link:

  • HT204135 paper selection when printing

On my last computer, when I went to print a job, I was able to communicate with the computer and printer and let it know that I was using a certain quality of paper, whether it be glossy, matte or something like standard. How come that option isn't available for me now on my MAC? I have an Epson R220 printer if that helps.

The option should be available in the print dialog. When you select to print from an application, if you only see a limited view, then maybe you need to press the Show Details button, as shown below.

  • Faxing with the Canon Pixma MX860?

I just bought this printer, mostly so I could network print with my tablet PC, but partly so I could fax directly from my Mac. My old Canon couldn't do it: I had to print the document, and then put it on the platen of the printer, and fax from there (kinda defeats the purpose, no?!). So when I read all the specs on the Apple Store website (http://store.apple.com/us/product/TV352LL/A) that included specs on Faxing, I figurered, why would they make all that fuss if it couldn't fax from the Mac? But it now appears that I'm back in the 20th century. I called Canon, and was told that I'd be able to fax directly from the (Vista) laptop, but not my Mac! How can this be true?!?! (I have a Mac V 10.5.7). My new Mac does not have a built-in modem. Why can't it use the one in the Canon? Does anybody have a work-around????? Thanks.

Checking the Canon web site, there is no fax driver for OS X for this model, so you are out of luck. In fact, looking at several other models of the MX series, there is no fax driver for Mac OS X. So it seems that Canon has once again shown its usual support for Mac owners.
With the machines that can fax from the OS X desktop, like my MF4680, when you connect the machine to the Mac and select to add a printer queue, you see two printer names - one of which has the word fax. To add this queue you need to install the fax driver, which is a separate driver to the printer driver.
