Paper size changing from letter to A4

I have been trying to print PDF files that were created as A4 size documents in our office in Italy. When I go to print with the paper size set to Letter the printer says Please insert A4 size paper into manual feed tray. I have letter size in tray 2 and when I insert the letter size into the manual feed tray it prints fine. The printer is a HP LaserJet 4050. I am using Adobe 9. The strange part is everyone but myself and one other person, is printing fine to the same printer and the same PDF files. I have tried reinstalling the printer and Acrobat but same issues. Has anyone ever seen this or have any ideas why it would switch size even though I select Letter? I tried installing a different PDF viewer and it prints fine so is there a setting in Acrobat for this issue? I really need to be able to print these PDF's without having to run to the printer and feed paper in each time.
Matthew

Hi, Thanks for the hint regarding the profile - I just updated...and for responding!
The System Preference for printing is set to A4, really that is not the issue, it is rather just one of the examples of the settings in the Address Book print window that are lost after printing.
*Every time* I open the print dialog for printing of a contact the default setting is for US Letter, if I click on any additional fields to print (such as url, company etc), or change the font size from "Regular" to "Large"; the next time I want to print another card those settings are lost. As mentioned, I tried to save those settings in "Presets" under "save as", but upon reopening the print dialog and selecting the newly saved Preset all setting have reverted back to the defaults (US Letter, regular font size, no selection of my preference for printing the notes and company name etc).

  • Custom Paper Size : Migrating from 6i to 10g report server engine

    Hi,
    pardon my bad english !!
I'm studying to migrate form/reports 6i to 10G. In report 6i we have reports with custom paper size ("A5" format that is half of "A4", 15x21cm).
In report server 6i environment (Win2000 server) we have done this configuration.
    - We configure printer; one input tray has "custom" format.
    - We create an OS user (es. CustRep);this user has a "default printer" that has input tray with "custom" format as default tray.
    - We create a new report server (es. CustRepSrv); this report server start as service with CustRep user credentials.
    - Every report (PDF format) generated and printed (destype=printer, desname="My Printer") with CustRepSrv report server get custom format as paper size and so fit with Custom tray definition on the printer.
Can I do the same in report server 10G environment ??
    Thanks

  • This is about the still image size changing from what I see on the computer monitor and what the burned DVD shows on the TV

I have Prem.El 12 and have used PE4 for years.  I have a new PC that runs Win7Pro.  The still images on the computer monitor are within the "safe margins".  The still images after the movie has been burned to a disk are MUCH smaller on the TV screen.  Is this an issue of 16:9 vs 4:3 ratios?  My TV is 4:3.  Can I tell PE12 to make the movie a 4:3?

Although I have seen your post of today in my Inbox Email Notifications, that post has not yet appears in this thread. It will probably will sooner or later. But, to keep things moving along....this is a copy of what I am seeing as your message of today in my Indox Email Notifications
Thank you for your patience in the time it is taking me to get back to you.
I am still trying to buy some DVD-RW discs and will hopefully do that in a
bit.  Meanwhile, I have more info for you and some simple (I hope)
questions.  If you want to insert your answers, that would be fine.
My camera (for stills and video) is set to the 4:3 ratio.  It is capable of
being set to a 16:9 ratio if I wanted to do that.  I looked in its TOOLS
    menu and saw this info.
My TV is definitely a 4:3 TV.  (I measured it with my tape measure and
divided W/L to get 1.33)  The TV can show a 16:9 movie and just adds the
black bars on the top and bottom.  Question: What will my old 4:3 movies
look like on a 16:9 TV whenever we buy one of those?
It seems to me that I want to set PE12 to the NTSC DV Standard you
    mentioned.
I do NOT know how to “size your photos so that each has a 4:3 aspect”,
unless you mean doing that in Photoshop Elements, which I know how to do
    (*see below)
I had NOT considered that I would need to watch the preset for the
‘Publish+Share’ step; so that’s good to know (I copied and pasted your info
    for later use).
BTW, years ago when I had difficulties with my XP computer working on PE4
(had only 2 GB RAM), an Adobe tech told me to resize my photos * to have a
720 pixel width (the height would be automatically adjusted) to lower the
file size to something my computer could handle without crashing.  (That
was back in the good ol’ days when Adobe support would actually talk with
their customers and try to help them in the first month)
My new computer has 16GB RAM.  Do you think I still need to reduce file
size?  One does lose some sharpness in the resizing process…..however,
these videos I’m making are travelogues and are for a fun way to view pics
and videos of a trip…nothing Earth shattering….and just a hobby to keep me
    off the streets.
I truly appreciate the time you take to help me (and others).  I was even
tempted to try to install my old PE4 on my new computer just to be able to
    enjoy my hobby again.
    My reply to the above....
    1. If you camera is giving you 4:3 photos and your Premiere Elements 12/12.1 is running on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit, then leave
the photos as is unless you have a lot of photos and each has pixel dimensions sizes way over 1920 x 1080 pixels that are giving your computer resource issues. If you have to down size them because of computer resources, then copy the photos to a computer desktop folder and also create an empty folder on the computer desktop.
    a. Photoshop Elements Editor, File Menu/Process Multiple Files.
    Process Files form Folder
Source - browse to and select the computer desktop folder with photos to be resized
Destination - browse to and select the empty computer desktop folder
    Image Size
Check Mark Next To Resize Images
(no check mark next to Constrain Proportions)
Type in Width = 1000  (set units for pixels)
Type in Height = 750 (set unites for pixels)
    File Size
Check Mark Next to Convert Files To
               Set for JPEG High Quality
The above should work fine for a NTSC DV Standard project with a burn to DVD disc with preset NTSC_Dolby DVD (4:3 video).
    2. With regard to the TV Set and 16:9 video....when you have the DVD-player attached to the TV, do you have the opportunity to bring up a display of menus with
controls for Picture and Aspect Ratio? From what you have written so far, it looks like the answer is no. I am not sure how your TV DVD
    player will handle 16:9.
Best do a mini test run
    1. Project preset set manually to NTSC DV Widescreen (please refer to post 1 link)
    A few photos sized for 1600 x 1200
In the Premiere Elements project, use the Safety Margins inner rectangle for text placement
    Publish+Share/Disc/DVD disc with preset = NTSC_Widescreen_Dolby DVD.
See what that looks like on your TV DVD player.
If you discovered that your current TV DVD player can be set for a 16:9 display, then I have a preferred workflow for
NTSC DV Widescreen which typically gives best possible results. Hints of things to come.
Please review and consider. Thanks for the follow ups.

I cant find how to view in its original 4:3 size a FCP movie that i already compressed into .mov (H.264) file. QuickTime squeezes the image a little from up and down.
I have tried with other movies and its the same. I havent had this issue with the early version. Hope its easy to correct.

  • Font size change from 3.5 to 7.0 in web reports

We have an issue where our font sizes all seem to be smaller in the 7.0 environment vs. the 3.5 environment.  Has anyone else had this issue?  I cannot seem to find a note pertaining to this.  Is there a global setting that can be changed for this?  We have not migrated out templates.  We are just using the 3.x runtime in a 7.0 environment.

    Brent,
Check your stylesheets - see if they are the same across 3.x and 7.0

  • Rectangle size changes from what I typed?

I'm using Illustrator CS 5 on snow leopard, when I make a new path with the rectangle tool, choosing a size in the dialogue window, say 10"x10" when i look at the rectangles size in the transform window along the top of the screen it says my rectangle is 10.0139" x 10.0139", now if I type 10 by 10 into the field again it stays 10 x 10.  Why does it do this and how can I fix this?
    Thanks

    Merrill,
To me it looks like Edit>Preferences>General>Use Preview Bounds being ticked.
A integer inch rectangle is an integer pixel rectangle so there should be nothing to change.

  • Is there a perminent fix for type size changes from page to page. Type is sometime to small to read.

This problem does not exist in Internet Explorer or in Chrome, so the problem appears to be in Firefox. I see work a rounds in these forums, but nothing that corrects the problem that seems to exist in Firefox. This problem started with one of the Firefox upgrades. • I have a MacBook Air and for what ever reason, the print settings have gone out of whack. I am not sure how to set to print a normal A4 paper size or a standard envelope. These settings were working O.K., but not now

I have a MacBook Air and for what ever reason the print settings for envelopes and normal A4 paper size changed from printing correctly each time I wished to print. Now, each time I wish to print either, I have to rest paper size and or Envelope vertical or horizontal. Can anyone assist with how to reset in order to print correctly without the need to rest each time please?

Log in to the Developer forum. You will find instructions on how to install the lastest beta. Your problem is the beta you have installed has expired. All of them did on October 5; you will find hundreds of threads discussing this. If you have a beta it is assumed that you will continue as a beta tester, so a simple update using iTunes will not work.
If you no longer want to be a beta tester install the GM 7.0.2 by restoring from iTunes using DFU mode.

  • Change default paper size on Preview when printing

When I open the print window on Preview (ver 7.0) to print a .pdf file, the default paper size is always A4, which I never use; I use US Letter instead. Is there a way to change the default paper size to US Letter so I don't have to change it every time I print or forget completely? I tried looking under Preview preferences, but no luck.
I use my MBP in the Japanese language (in Japan they use A4 as main paper size), but I live in the US. Is this the cause of this problem?

Having the region set to Japan will have set the default to A4 but you can change it by opening Printers & Scanners and changing the setting "Default Paper Size" from A4 to US Letter.

  • My Officejet 6500 E710 will not accept an A4 paper size as default and keeps reverting to Letter

I bought a new OfficeJet 6500 E710. I use A4 size paper but for some reason it will either not accept the change from Letter (I change it in the Printer Preferences and the Print settings) presenting me with an error message "printer settings could not be saved" or in some cases it does change but when I print from Adobe Indesign it is reset to Letter. Adobe is also set to A4 as standard. My regional settings are for the Netherlands. Can anyone shed some light on this behaviour? BTW I have checked that the firmware on the printer is the latest. I have rebooted after setting the paper size. None of these have helped.

I had a problem like this where my X didnt wanna take my new monitor displays.. what I did was I backed up my conf and ran nvidia-xconfig to make a new .conf, then using sudo nvidia-settings i told it to go to the size i wanted and it just appended the file for me

  • How to print multiple small pages on 1 sheet of paper without changing size

I have a document 85x110mm which I want to print *at exactly that size* 4 times on a sheet of A4 paper. I have duplicated the pages in the document (so there are 4 of them) and in print -> layout I can choose that they all go onto one sheet. BUT they get resized. In print -> paper handling there is an option 'destination paper size' (sounds hopeful...) where I can choose 'document paper size: letter' or 'scale to fit paper size: my custom 85x110 page'. The paper size isn't letter; it's 85x110mm; and my default paper size is A4. The first option seems to lay out the pages to letter, but resizes them anyway, and the second option lays them out to A4, but resizes them. Where's the missing function which lets me *keep everything at the correct size*?
Possible workaround: if I can lay out the 4 pages on one A4 page that would do - but I need to specify their exact layout in centimetres. I tried modifying a business card layout, but it seemed to want me to set the positions of every element in every card manually. I can't do that precisely enough.

    Hello
I know that Pages is using its own algorithm to resize pages when it put several of them on a single sheet.
This is why I use this tip.
I draw a rectangle whose size is supposed to be the final one.
I give it a white background and a black border whose thickness is set to one point.
For the tests I just insert three page breaks so that the document is a four pages one.
    I print it as is.
Doing that, I may measure the printed rectangle.
Of course, at first attempt it doesn't match the required size.
It's easy to compute the required adjustments.
When the correct factor is reached, it is easy to build the complete document so that it prints the correct size.
Doing that I never got odd results but maybe it's because I am a lucky guy.
Of course, disagreeing with one advice doesn't mean that I don't respect it.
I respect your opinion, _on other matters too_

  • Excel 2010 bug -- cannot place controls on chart properly after changing paper size

I have encountered unexpected behavior in Excel 2010 when placing controls on a chart that is a separate sheet. The issue is that the controls (e.g. spinner, scroll bar, etc.) cannot be placed or moved to the right side or the bottom.
    Steps to reproduce:
    1) create a chart as a separate sheet
    2) change the paper size to, for example, A6 (4.13" x 5.83")
    3) change paper size back to Letter (8.5" x 11")
    4) controls cannot be placed on right side or bottom of chart.
It appears that instead of using the current dimensions of the chart paper size to determine where controls may be placed, the smallest dimensions that have ever been applied to the chart are used.
I am looking for a workaround for this issue since I would like to use a paper size large than 8.5" x 11", but I cannot place controls on such a chart properly at this time.
    Any ideas?

I have found a workaround for this issue:
    1) change paper size in your default printer's preferences to the paper size you want in Excel.
    2) afterwards insert or create the chart. It is automatically the correct paper size, and controls can be placed or moved properly.
    3) change default printer paper size back.
In case your chart has already been created, simply copy the existing chart in step 2 instead of inserting/creating.
    Aidan

  • 9 Pro Extended: Paper Size: Automatic in Configure Presets but get 8.5 x 14 on scan

Using 9 Pro Extended on Win 7 with Epson Workforce 645 Printer.
When I scan a letter size document into Acrobat the page size ends up legal.
In File/Create PDF from Scanner/Configure Presets the Paper Size is set to Automatic.
Is there something else that needs to get set to allow Acrobat to get the paper size automatically from the scanner?
    Thanks.

    OK, I see.
The scanner needs to be sending the page size info so that Acrobat can use it
    for the Auto setting.
I did a scan with the size set to Letter. Now it seems to be sticking with that size.
    Thanks.
