PAR bug in Premiere Pro CS4

I am encountering a pixel aspect ratio bug. I have created a 1440x1080 anamorphic project. Sequences are correctly identified as 1440x1080 (1.33). Source material is anamorphic MTS files. These play on any player without any black bars and display in the proper 1.778 aspect ratio. Task is to make MPGs suitable for DVD authoring. When I go to Export Media, the right PAR choices are not available. If I select MPEG-DVD format, this gives me only two PAR choices: 0.909, and 1.212. Either choice gives black bars in output, if selected.  The Widescreen PAR, 1.212, gives black bars at the side. They're not huge, but still they should not be there.
More choices exist in the MPEG format selection. But something very squirrely happens. The proper NTSC selection would be 720x480. If I select that, then I get black bars at the side, and PAR = 1.212 is automatically indicated. But now, if I select 721 or 719, instead of 720, something very different happens. All of a sudden, the image fills properly and there are no black bars. For 719, you get PAR = 1.187, while for 721 you get PAR = 1.184. Obviously, the right PAR = 1.778/1.5 = 1.185. But if you select 720 as the horizontal pixels, it gives you not PAR = 1.185, but PAR = 1.212 and, of course, voila you get black side bars.
I resigned myself to running the export with 721x480, but this should not be necessary! Is Adobe ever going to fix the bug??

Hey, Todd.
The history of the situation is educational. Always nice to understand how we got to where we are. That said, I'm really more interested in finding the best workaround since the way things are done in CS4 obviously isn't going to change.
When working with 1440 / 1.33 mts files and rendering to 720 widescreen, the OP's solution was to change the dimension to 721 or 719 instead of 720 in order to get rid of the black bars, something I hadn't thought of trying. Because I don't know any better, the approach I've been using to accomplish this is to crop two sides by a few pixels.
Does either of these approaches have an advantage over the other, or is there perhaps a third (or fourth, fifth, etc.) way to go about it that's better still?

  • Vob Import Question in Premiere Pro CS4 4.1

    Hello,
Prior to posting, I read numerous posts related to importing vob files in Premiere.  None of them seemed to address the particular problem I am experiencing, and I was hoping to find an answer here in the forums.  Here's what I am attempting to accomplish:
    1)  Export the vob files (there are 4 of them) from a commercial movie DVD to hard disk
    2)  Import the vob files into a Premiere Pro CS4 4.1 project
    3)  Build a sequence out of the 4 vob files
    4)  Replace the sound in two very short segments to eliminate profane language so that my children may watch the movie
    5)  Import the sequence into Encore CS4 and burn a standard DVD
I was successful in all of the above steps 1-5.  So what's the problem?  I noticed, when viewing the output DVD, that at a certain point (only a single point) in the movie, the sound was garbled and the frames got 'wonky' (a technical term I picked up from Deke McClelland).  My first assumption, was that I had messed something up somewhere in my editing process.  When I navigated to the problematic time in my Premiere project, I saw that there was a problem in that at a certain point, the video would flicker, after which the audio would be out of sync with the video and would remain so until the end of the sequence.  If instead, I simply navigated within the sequence to a few seconds past where the problematic frames seemed to be, all would be well (audio and video in sync).  So, this means to me, that at the point where the problematic frames seem to be, Premiere has trouble interpreting them, and from that point on, the sequence is affected.  If the seemingly problematic frames are skipped, then Premiere does not enter its bad state.
The next troubleshooting step was to start afresh, and see if the problem existed prior to making any edits to the sequence (i.e. steps 1-3 above).  The problem still existed.
The next troubleshooting step was to see if a media player exhibited the same behavior as Premiere.  So I took the same vobs and viewed them with Windows Media Player 11.  There was no problem viewing the exact same vob in Media Player 11 that essentially is not viewable in Premiere Pro CS4 4.1.  Hmm.
The next troubleshooting step was to see if an encoding program would exhibit the same behavior as Premiere.  I imported the same vobs into TmpEnc, and when viewing them, no problems were exhibited.
Although not conclusive, it appears that there is a bug in Premiere Pro CS4 4.1.
Another problem that I noticed with vobs, is that sometimes, Premiere Pro CS4 4.1 does not recognize the proper frame rate of a standard DVD vob file, e.g. given 5 vobs that comprise a single movie, the first vob is shown as simply a video file (i.e. no audio at all) @ 29.97 fps in the Project panel, but the subsequent 4 vobs are recognized correctly as having both audio and video @ 23.976 fps.  As before, I validated that the apparently problematic vob (from the Premiere Pro CS4 4.1 point of view) renders/plays perfectly fine in other applications (i.e. no audio or video problems).  I attempted to use 'Interpret Footage' to rectify the problem with the vob, and when I type in 23.976 fps, it takes it, but then displays in the Project panel as 23.98 fps.  It didn't fix the problem, but I was wondering if diplaying 23.976 as 23.98 (as opposed to 23.976 which is shown for the non-problematic vobs) is another problem.
Thanks much for any and all help,
    Matt

    Welcome to the forum.
Now, you have several problems, but most are with your choice of equipment and your workflow, not your choice of an NLE.
I took a wedding video from 1990 on a VCR tape and turned it to digital via a Dazzle hardware unit that plugs into the computer. It gives me vob files with no menus or anything like that
Few people have ever been able to get a Dazzle to work. This is true, even with the Pinnacle software, that often comes with it. It is an AVID product now, as they bought Pinnacle, and if you can get it to work at all, you are ahead of 99% of all owners. Stop by the Pinnacle fora and type in Dazzle. You will get the idea quickly.
A far better workflow would be to use a VHS player, hooked to an A-D device, like the Canopus/Grass Valley 110, or their 300. Use the Edius software that comes with it, to Capture DV-AVI Type II files w/ 48KHz 16-bit Audio. There will be zero OOS issues.
Most other equipment and workflows are kludges and seldom work at any level.
A good workman does not blame his tools. He might blame his choice of tools, but not the tools. Unfortunately, you chose a piece of hardware that doesn't usually work with the included software, and are blaming a great NLE program, because you are trying to work with horribly bad footage.
Please do yourself a favor. Donate the Dazzle to Goodwill, and look at the Canopus/Grass Valley 110. The price differential is not that great, and you will keep all of your hair.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS just did 34 VHS tapes via the above suggestions (some LP and some EP), and got many hours of usable footage. Not one glitch. No OOS. Every file edited perfectly in PrPro and I delivered 15 DVD-5's, that the client loved. I paid for a Canopus 300 with just my time on one project.
PPS, please see my post #5 for a link to an article on VOB files.

  • Quality loss when importing/exporting in premiere pro cs4

Hi, I am fairly new to premiere pro cs4, but have some experience in final cut and after effects cs4, and I have a problem thats been bugging me for awhile.
I decided to try out premiere pro again [only used two or three times] I made a new project and sequence then imported a screen capture of a game I had on my desktop. when I dragged it into the timeline and looked over the footage it was blurry and not very clear at all, so i just did a quick edit and exported it, thinking the final product would have better quality. turns out the quality of the final product was even worse than it was when i was editing it.
I used DV-NTSC widescreen 48khz preset and didn't change any of the general settings.
the screen capture is a .mov file, 114mb, its dimensions are 762 x 502, animation codec, and 4,970 bit rate.
i used the program ishowu you record my screen, i set it to have a 25 frame rate, max quality, and animation compression.
I used the youtube widescreen HD preset H.264 format [I had planed to upload it as a quality test.]
Another question is can i set my own dimensions for the sequence instead of having to choose a preset? I hope I didn't leave anything out, and thanks in advance.
here's what it looks like before i edited it.
    and heres after:

I use a lot of 3D animations from Mac-artists, and request the same files, MOV with the Animation CODEC. I have never had any issue with those, in my SD DVD Projects. Not sure what is going on in your case. My guess would be that it's the Scaling to the DV Preset, that is causing you an issue. In my case, the animations match my source footage, 720 x 480 w/ appropriate PAR @ 29.97 FPS, so there is no scaling taking place.
As for the Frame Size, you want to explore the Desktop Preset. Unlike all the rest, it allows you to do exactly what you want - adjust the parameters to match your source footage.
    Good luck,

  • Premiere Pro CS4 eats my C: drive in Vista Ultimate 64-bit SP1

I installed Premiere Pro CS4 this last weekend 11-12 April 2009.
    I have a Quadcore 3.0GHz with 8Gb of RAM, a 150Gb C: drive fo rthe op sys Vista Ultimate 64-bit SP1 and programs, a 500Go D: drive for general data and a K: drive 2Tb RAID0 volume useable about 1.8Gb.
My C: drive was healthy after installation of Premiere Pro with tens of gigabytes free at least. Then I started experimenting with building projects. I put my files on a mix of the D: and K: drives especially the AVCHD video assets on the K:.
While importing these AVCHD assets I eventually got a message from Vista that the C: drive was full and I did a clean up and that gave approximetely 30Gb free, I went back to importing, in a couple of hours the 30Gb was gone, this can only be Premiere Pro CS4 eating the C: drive and never returning what it takes. This of course is a disaster precisely because it is my op sys drive and Vista will periodically want to make new restore points especially before applying downloaded updates from Microsoft. I ahve run also chkdsk and defragmenter with no effect. I think Premiere Pro is using some sort of secret work files on the C: drive somewhere and that they just accumulate, of course this would be a bug.
Support Center does not appear to let me open web support issues even though we are in the 90-day bug fix period and I have registered the product with the product key so that is another bug that gets in the way of fixing the first.
    Any ideas please?
    Thanks!
    Peter.

Yeah, I did not take backups that often cos I did not intend putting the machine onto the net, then I got this device that said it would protect against everything by isolating my machine and making it invisible, I await the analysis by the company but it does appear not to have worked, the only thing that works is very real physical isolation and do not use the internet at all from the main machine. Like I say it simply is not confirmed yet but neither is it denied. You cannot actually go so far as to blame Adobe because stopping hackers is the job of the op sys vendor really so I blame Microsoft, the only blame for Adobe is the policy that some functions require internet connection in order to work when they know internet is not secure, so for instance if you want to use the emulators for things like these mobile phones they want you to be connected, I tried that one phone emulator and it said so, I wish they just put all documentation and all software on the DVD. I can roll back to an earlier Vista version from a USB backup disk that is always powered off, then rebuild as necessary, but I want the security firm to see if it is a trojan in fact first and to see if it can upgrade the security device and provide a roll out of the trojan's work. Right now I am still scripting the documentary and this second quarter is getting this Premiere Pro up ready for third quarter production so I can be philosophical for now, but yes later I will get more disciplined. But at least now I (almost) know the security device is not the all singing wonder they said it was. Oh well. I use a second machine too, a PS3 with Linux, that is what I am using now, this one doesn't seem to get hacked even though it is my sacrificial machine.

Adobe deserves criticism for its shoddy QC, but not for maing you exposing your main machine at risk on the internet. I never do that, and I never have had a virus or malware on it--never in all the years I've been doing this. I have picked up a few on my internet machine, though, but they are easily fixed with the security scheme I use.
As for restore points possibly eating up disk space, which you alluded to earlieranother never for me. Restore points are a half assed measure at best. My security system is a full clone backup of my C drive starting the day I install and OS on it, and every time I add add a program, and every day when I am working a big complex project. Otherwise, once a week. It takes a few minutes only. That way I can restore everything in equally few minutes should anything bad happen, like poorly designed software affecting other software, a virus, malware, etc, and including drive failurewhich has happened twice over the years.
Don't get me wrong, a virus checker is very useful to a point, but real security design has to start long before you install one, especially if your machine is the heart of your business, as it is for me. What is that old saying? An ounce of prevention is worth..........

  • Premiere Pro CS4 4.2.1 Halts rendering whatever I ask!

    Hi there.
Finally I decided to post this.
I have been tracking in internet this situation for months... since PPro CS4 got out, I have been testing and working with it. However, I cannot say I prefer CS4 to other opponents (even one  or two Linux apps oddly).  The thing is when an app makes us spectate, we should have results! I cannot go back to previous releases of PPro because I need that queue in AME. So, let me beggin to explain the error:
The application (Premiere Pro CS4 or Adobe Media Encoder [AME]) halts forever when rendering video (a code loop? while "something"="some thing" then do "render frame again"?). So, happening the error in two aplications that use a bunch of files, I must say it is something used by booth like, my guess, PProHeadless. Moreover, the video it might have a filter or not, an opacity key, might be in a diferent format and created within adobe realm, or even outside like Fusion or Combustion, it can stop. And I say can because I am making tests these holy days to reach a conclusion: it's random. It might ocour in frame 150, or in 20 000, with some kind of format video or a filter or everything "as nature as" a PPro captured avi.
Graphics? Updated as today means. Windows? Up to date also! Adobe Premiere Pro? same thing as you already noticed.
This halt is documented by a png file atached to this post. With taskmanager also. That halt is typical. I am in windows 7 64bits, but also have winxp 64bits that produces the same error. The program can only be terminated by process kill and that sort of things.
As I have searched thoughout the internet, I have only seen a post in creative cows that appears similar to this. No luke for a solution yet. When update 4.2.0 came and I had an enormouse reliefe, thiinking it would "heal" the program... no good. I have not been able to respect some deadlines with clients. I will shift if necessary! At least the minimum would be an error ex spit by the program... nothing never came out. I'm blind and adobe might be also. All programs I've try to develop had error mannagement. CS4 release was something apparatuouse but could had wait for a 4.1.0 update in Premiere for instance...  I am really tempted for a mac! At least I know what should I buy to make a program run in there... just a mac!
As I see, no software seems to be the problem. It's a fresh install of windows 7 and PPro CS4. Nothing else installed in the system but flash, vlc, acrobat reader MSN live, calim av, proDVD mercalli
    Hardware bug or incopatability?
So... my specs if this helps:
    Processor:     AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+ 2.21 GHz
    Ram:             5,00 GB 667Mhz
OS:               Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Operating System
Graphic board: NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE
MB:               Asus M2N-E with Serial 3Gb/s RAID
Disks:            1 SATA for OS.     SATA Disks for footage and project storage 7000 rotations all I think
I believe everything is Adobe PPro supported... so... where the hell is the problem?
    Thanks in advance!

    OK
I have been these days arround this issue. Done many troubleshooting... trying to understand problems. Here is what I got:
Getting the hauppauge board off the PC seems to have stopped the "halt" of the encoders and renderings in Premiere and AME. Hope it won't happen again, but, It's kind an exclusion game... What was diferent from the setups I have seen in many forums and posts was this ancient board. Adobe shoulde analyse this one against Premiere CS4 and AME: Hauppauge WinTV-Go bt848 conexant board (or it's a lost of time... as it's not supported anymore in Windows, but is in Linux :] ).
As for the playback... a fine tune for performance options of my graphic board was able to reduce the jerkiness of video... so I had the idea to also overclock both processor and graphics. The result is this:
Before: Processing of video with the timeline in view (default workspace) was allways 100%, skipping so many frames that even entire clips coundln't send a sigle frame. Where only the output frame (ç shortcut) playback was almost aceptable, with processing at 100% and some times going leaving a tiny space for other things to process.... The fine tune of graphics board, was able to get in default workspace the insertion of may more frames in there, and with ç shortcut - output full mode, it was 95-100 spiking frequently between them.
Now: Default workspace: 80% processing... Output frame: 60-70% My pc is now in test to seach for the optimal (aceptable) overclock parameters. And it seems I can overclock even more (not in graphics but the processor).
This is good and aceptable for the computer setup...
However, to everyone reading this, please be very carfull at how you overclock. Be shure you read everything you can find (from reliable sources - your hardware suppliers, as for the processor, the mother board, the graphic board... etc..). If you mess something, better you have the money to replace :].
    Thanks for everyting

  • Dear Adobe, please patch Premiere Pro CS4

    Dear Adobe
How come there's a minor patch to Adobe Reader or to Flash every few weeks, yet no patches at all in the automatic updates for Premiere Pro CS4?
I am extremely annoyed with Premiere Pro CS4. It crashes for some dumb reason or another every single day.
The biggest problem of all is the Adobe Media Encoder. Should it crash when I click to change the location of a render? Why does it ask if I want to overwrite a file (say, "test.mov"), then makes a new version of the file anyway ("test_1.mov"). Plus the far more serious problems documented in the forum.
I like the new features, but CS4 is not reliable. No one can work in a product that they can't trust.
People have asked me if CS4 is worth the money for an upgrade. I have been kind and polite, saying, "Well, I have found some bugs, but it has a lot of nice new features".
My tune changed last night. I'm tired of the bugs, crashes, and lack of patches.
I will now say, "CS4 is absolutely not worth buying until it is fixed. Stay away. You'll only be aggravated."

I assume that Adobe considers these sorts of problems "installation" issues and does not charge for support. Is that correct? Yes, that is no guarantee of success, but that has appeared to me to be an important step in their fixing issues: dealing with specific hardware/OS issues. After all, it only takes one problematic driver to create some of the problems that are reported. And some problems will be Operator Error.
I agree that details can be helpful, but as we've learned before, there can be an amazing list of things that are potentially relevant. Bill Gehrke, I've forgotten what you said about the status of your benchmark, but I think your system is a very important way to translate "Premiere CSx is slow" etc to meaningful information about various computer subsystems. Adobe should hire you to set this up as a troubleshooting aid. (Wil, I'm serious.)
In addition to a list of hardware, there's also the list of troubleshooting steps. E.g. have you turned off "whatever you call that nasty thing in Vista that wrecks your performance".
And, in the case of CS4 (perhaps CS3 was no different), we have to be sure we are talking about the same "task" - SD, vs the many flavors of other video.
One step in this is for Eric and others that have working systems to list their hardware and setup, and for those with very similar systems that are not operating to see if they can sort out differences.
I don't have CS4 yet - CS3, WinXP SP3, P4 2.8, 2G Ram. It's not that I'm waiting for you beta-plus testers to iron out the bugs, I just can't afford it and the new computer I need for it. But, I sure hope you get them ironed out by the time I'm ready....

  • Premiere Pro CS4 - Problem with the monitor program.

Hi. I'm not able solving problems with the monitor using PremiereProCS4. When I drag a photo (also only one photo) in the timeline and play it in the monitor program, vision in the monitor program doesn't run:black monitor or a little part of the photo appear... sometimes distort colours. Asus P5QPRO, Intel 9550 and Sparkle Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ 1024 DDR3; last gpu driver and directX are installed. Different configuration of stratch disks were tested. Where am I wrong?

    Dear Bill,
thanks for your answer and your article. I tried with your NTSC 4:3 720x480 PAR 0.9 and, "magically", no more problem!!! I used the script pocedure in Photoshop CS4 to resize my images. Now, before starting my workflow and hoping not to overuse your patience, I would like to indicate you my equipment and my target: I use a Canon Eos 7D (generally for still images, 90% are vertical, and just some videos) and I use Premiere Pro CS4 to burn a dvd (normal, 4.7 Gb or double side, more than 8 Gb) with a 16.9 lcd tv (I'm Italian); my camera save as .jpg and .raw (but why use heavy .raw files if I've to redute to 720x480?!??).
So, according to your "everyone wants the highest quality that they can obtain when doing theri videos..." and "your video project may vary, so you will need to plug in the dimensions for YOUR video project in that case", I've a question: which is the best for me?
    And then:
1 - Premiere Pro CS4 havn't a batch or a script procedure for still image like PS (only for videos)!?!
2 - Premiere does'nt allow you to import images like 4.181 Kb (a too large dimension file error appears)!
3 - In the timeline of Premiere, after you dragged images, you can select them and right click to perform "resize to frame size": it seems to run good without problem, but what appen to the photo? Which is it's pixel?
4 - In the general preferences of Premiere you can to optimize rendering for "memory" or not: which is the best for you?
5 - I attached file with a screen of something strange in Premiere: dragging an image (the first of the project) in the timeline, the timeline appears distort (you can see the part in the yellow square): then, when I render the project and play in the monitor program, it becames normal.
    Thanks!

  • Exporting from Premiere Pro CS4 using Media Encoder gets stop error

I am trying to export my timeline from Premiere Pro CS4, using the Adobe Media Encoder CS4 to export my timeline as an MPEG2 HDTV 1080 24, and it goes for about fifteen minutes then I get the blue screen and my computer restarts, telling me the program had a stop error.  Is there a way to go around this step?  Another method to get the mpeg2 without losing quality?  Anything I can do?
Please offer any knowledge you have before I scream at my computer again.
    Thank you

as I know Adobe products are buggy no matter what hardware you have.
I am sorry, but my experience has been the absolute opposite of what you have heard, or experienced. I have used many, many Adobe programs for almost 2 decades (maybe even more than 2 decades?), and have never observed such. I do have to admit that over those many years, I have always had a "state of the art" computer, but have made plenty of $ using Adobe software. Even with my now aging workstation, things work great. Time to upgrade though.
When troubleshooting issues, they shake out like this:
    1.) system
    2.) Assets
    3.) Project
    4.) OE
    5.) Bugs
This is after troubleshooting Adobe issues from almost the time that PS hit the PC, when they were only NNTP, in what, 1985?
Now, I am not saying that your issue IS hardware, but only that that is the most likely issue, given a BSOD. Also, system is the #1 cause of issues, so that is where I start.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Kodak videos lag in Premiere Pro CS4 timeline

    Hey all,
Apperently there's a bug in Adobe Premiere Pro which makes it difficult to edit videos that were captured in a Kodak camera.
This issue was discussed here before, but even after reading all threads in the subject I could not solve the problem.
I've been trying to convert these files (.mov) to many other formats and codecs with no success.
After a while I got to find this crappy software that claims to specialize in converting Kodak's video files (iOrgSoft Video Converter).  Between many tries of various softwares that was the only one that did  it right. But the software isn't free. The trail version leaves a  watermark on the each video.

I'm looking for another way to convert this file correctly so it will work well in Premiere.
Does anyone have any idea about this?
    Thanks in advance,
    -Moshe.

    Hi,
If CS5 handles this right than I  guess that's about it.
Thanks again for both of you.
This is CS3...with the mainconcept plug in trial ....as mentioned earlier...your original source loaded GREAT into the project...and plays great...etc....
The plug in trial gives that logo thing and has a limit of 5min video I think....although I've exported stuff with this and the logo was NOT on the final export...or was much smaller .....dont know if that would influence you on trying the plug in...
But what I mean to say is with cs3 it works great with the original file you supplied as a sample...
( I used this in another thread here where someone was trying to get timecode to run backwards...which is why you see that timecode thing...)
    good luck with everything !

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 Help Is Public

You've heard the Adobe CS4 product announcements. Care to take a closer look at the new features in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4? Adobe has posted the Help contents on the web where you can search it and write comments on it.
See Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 Help here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/PremierePro/4.0/
Or, go straight to the list of new features, here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/PremierePro/4.0/WS0DB30036-D26C-4c21-A01B-6207B21C3A2Ba.html

    Adobe Systems

This is all kind of like sneaking into Santa's bag to see if the new toys he's gonna bring us are durable enough to play with until NEXT Christmas, when it's only a couple of weeks away from THIS Christmas.
(By the way, if you don't celebrate Christmas, you're really missing out...not just on the holiday itself, but you're also missing out on my metaphor).
I'm just about positive that everything's not going to work as well as we want, that it's not going to do quite enough of the stuff we need it to do, and that there will be bugs. The people who scream the loudest about current missing features or feature requests will probably be continuing the trend in the near future. Adobe reps will be very interactive on the forums for a few weeks or months while we all troubleshoot in our working environments and then they will disappear until it gets close to the next release.
BONUS ROUND - Mobutu (or jujufactory...right?) will still not upgrade, and will still demand support in a software he doesn't use for hardware that he doesn't use while likewise judging everything invented prior to the last 5 weeks to be "OBSOLETE!!"
Have I pretty much summed it all up?
At any rate, I would expect Dynamic Link in Encore to work the same way as Dynamic Link in PPro. In PPro, you can import multiple AE compositions through Dynamic Link. In Encore, you can import multiple AE comps as well. So...pretty likely that Encore will handle PPro sequences likewise. AE comps currently work fine with the Automatic transcode settings, so I'm guessing that carries over to PPro.
One of the After Effects documentation guys just provided a summary (per forum user request) of EVERYTHING that was modified/added/removed in CS4, in spite of the various ways of gleaning the information from the online docs. So...maybe if we keep hollering, we'll get the same thing here....?
C'mon Adobe...it's not like you're busy working on CS4 anymore. After all, the release of CS5 is only ONE YEAR AWAY!!! GO GO GO!!!
Final thoughts...I like how the press releases always refer to each release now as the "biggest product launch in Adobe's history." Isn't that to be expected? Shouldn't we expect each version to be "bigger" than the last? I mean, what else are they gonna say? "Well, you know...CS4, it's pretty good, VERY good actually. But the last version was a lot more meaningful. A lot more exciting. That last one was AWESOME. Well...we'll still try to make something out of this."

  • Premiere Pro CS4 and JVC HM700e (Mac)

    Hey there,
first i'd like to excuse my bad (school-)english.
Hope you'll understand my question anyway.
We just bought a new JVC-HM 700e Camcorder and we use the CS4 Creative Suite in our company.
The 700e we can produce MP4 (Win) and MOV (Mac + FinalCut).
Now we have problems to watch and import the Video to a new Premiere Pro Project.
You have any idea how to handle those files with Mac and Premiere?
    Thank you!
    Nikolaus K.

Is there any way that I can get Premiere Pro CS4 to recognise Encore CS5 for Dynamic Linking?
No. The rest is probably thwartet by licensing restrictions for the MPEG and DVD stuff as it existed back then. Anyway, IMO not worth the trouble to work with DL. Due to the limited memory in 32bit apps it will be severely unenjoyable plus it had tons of bugs back then.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 Goes Psychedelic with OS X 10.7 Lion

Ever since installing OS X 10.7 Lion, Premiere Pro CS4 has gone on a psychedelic trip making it practically impossible to edit. This happens when dragging any assets to the timeline. Will adobe be addressing this issue anytime in the near future?
Adobe Production Premium installed on a Macbook Pro 2.66 Ghz Intel Core i7, 4Gb 1067 Mhz DDR3

Same Problem here on CS3... Posted it a few days ago.
I just got of the phone with adobe. He told me, they don't have any support for CS3 any more. And he agreed that there are maaaany bugs with lion and adobe products. But there probably won't be any updates for older versions... So three choices for me: Live with it, Go back to Snow Leopard or buy the incredible cheap update to CS 5.5 for nearly 2000 € ( instead of buying the full version for nearly 4000€ ).
I think I'll take option number 4 - > I'll work with Final Cut from now on...
    Thank you Adobe.
