  • Strange Problem with PAR deployment.

    Hi Everybody,
I am undergoing with the strange problem with PAR deployment. When I am deploying any Par file its going successful but when again If I am changing this same PAR file in NWDS and deploying it ... its deploying but not showing the updated deployment version. To see the updated version, every time, I have to go Portal->System Admin->Support->Admin Console and DELETE the existing PAR file. But this procedure takes too time to work on each and every time. Can you help me with some new concept where the new deployed version will get updated on previous one without any manual process or if this something related to cache problem then how to work out?
    Thanks,
    Roshan Gupta

    Hi,
If it saves you time you can also deploy from here:
    .../irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.portal.runtime.system.console.ClusterAdminConsole
In some cases (rarely) I observed the behavior you described above.
In thoes cases after deploying the file I click the "clean" button on the bottom, since after the deployment it contains the name of the par you just uploaded it'll save you the time of looking for that par to earase.
After that you have to deploy the par again, but again it's allready in the browse console box.
    Best Regards,
    Nadav.

  • Restart and Par deploy

    Hi,
do one need to restart the J2EE Engine (on WAS6.20) after the deployment of a .par file?
    Thanks
    Best regards
    Kris

    Hi Kris,
No you need not restart the server after deploying the par file. Just create an iView from this par file and view it.
If you make some changes in the project and want to redploy the par file then you have to just rebuild the project after doing the desired changes and create a new par file. Deploy it again and the changes done in this newly deployed file will be reflected in the output.
I hope this solves your problem. If you require some more clarification then please revert back.
    Regards
    Pravesh

  • Par deploy from IDE hangs and causes Portal to crash

Using the Netweaver 2004s SP7 Preview, on a Windows XP Pro machine, when I use the IDE's Quick Deploy on a Par, most of the time all works fine. But occasionally the deploy hangs in the Deploying Par stage. I have waited as long as an hour to make sure that it is hung. The IDE has to be stoped from Task Manager.
At this point the portal no longer responds. Restarting the system results in the server0 never getting beyond the Starting Framework status.
I found no errors in any logs after the hang or from the attempted restart.
The only way to restart was to restore the file systems from a backup.
Needless to say a three hour restore once or twice a day is very frustrating.
    Has anyone seen this behavior?

    Hi Antonio,
A couple basic questions that may help us troubleshoot:
1.) What version of LabVIEW are you using?
2.) Are you able to deploy any code to the sbRIO? i.e. something even simpler than what you are already doing.
3.) Have you ever been able to deploy code to this particular sbRIO?
4.) Have you tried formatting and reinstalling the software?
5.) What other troubleshooting steps have you tried?

    Thank you for the reply.
I was hoping that wasn't the case, because now I will have to wait until we deploy SP9, which could be quite a while.
In the meantime will the old PDK for .Net (Pre-SP1) work with the older Service Packs?  I couldn't find it out on the SAP site.  The only one I could find was the SP1 version of the SAP .Net PDK.

  • Different ways to deploye .par file

    Hi,
How many ways we have to deploy .par file. As per my knowledge folloing are the ways
    1. Deploying from NWDS
    2. Portal -> Java Developer -> Portal Deployment
Is there any other way to deploy the par file like we can deploy .ear files from SDM.
We would like to remove PDK. So, the Java Developer role will be deleted.
Please let me know if we have any other ways to deploy
    Thanks

    Hi Bobby,
This is another way for PAR deploy
System Administration -- Support -- Portal Runtime -- Administration Console
Apart from that you check these links out :

  • Portal requests don't hit the deployed J2EE filter

    Hi,
What I am tring to obtain is that all requests are filtered via a J2EE filter. I've deployed the filter and tested it successfully. The filter mapping was set to "/*" so that it catches all requests. It works fine when tested at the J2EE level.
The problem comes when I tested it within the portal. The filter doesn't seem to be hit (because upon hitting some values are stored in the HttpSession. A session dump shows interesting results; the test at the J2EE level (via a servlet) shows the values set correctly in the session, as below:
    Session_Id: (J2EE779911300)ID0720145750DB10614845087046755149End
    Session Creation Time:Mon Nov 13 11:57:12 EST 2006
    Session_class:class com.sap.engine.services.servlets_jsp.server.runtime.client.ApplicationSession
    TEMP_LANG fr
The test at the portal level (via a portal application PAR deployment, jsp) shows different results, even if the session ID stays the same. Both tests were made in the same browser window.
    Session_Id:(J2EE779911300)ID0720145750DB10614845087046755149End

Now the question: why the filter is not being invoked? Also, where is the object named TEMP_LANG from the first test? What am I missing here?
    Thank you,
    Adrian

What I noticed when I had a similar problem was that it matters which order the definition of the filter is declared in the web.xml file. Try playing around with these settings and see whether this sorts it out.
Perhaps even post the web.xml file so that we can check it is configured correctly

  • Portal (EP6) deployment failed

    Hello,
I can't upload a par file in the portal anymore.  I tried via Netweaver studio and via the portal interface (System Administration-Support-Portal Runtime-Administration Console).  Both deployments failed.  I looked in the portal log file for my deployment (/usr/sap/EPH/JC00/j2ee/cluster/server0/apps/sap.com/irj/servlet_jsp/irj/root/web-inf/deployment/pcd/<par file name>.par.log) and the following errors appears (see below).  The only thing that changed is that the portal patch (15) was applied along with some Kernel patches.
The portal/WAS is installed on Unix/Solaris
    Any idea?

    Hi Guys,
OSS has finished looking at the system. Apparently the upgrade to SP 15 of netweaver was not finished succussfully, although the installation ended successfully. Result was that the Java Engine was on the correct SP but not the portal component.
Solution proposed by SAP was to import the SP15 for the portal again.
Maybe this will help you for your specific problems. SAP told me that if the j2ee engine is on SP15 make sure the portal is also on the same level and the NWDS also for par deployment.

  • Checking out which Projects are deployed

    Hallo,
is there a way to find out which projects are deployed on the WAS?
There is a process List, but i dont see there something like e.g. calculator.

    Hi,
In the WAS under the Visual Administrator ---> Deploy Service or the SDM directly you can check up for the EARs/PARs deployed.
    This might help --

  • Open web page from URL iview in maximized window

    Hi,
I would like to open a web page in a <b>maximized</b> browser window, using an URL iView.
I know how to open a window in a separate window, I just can't get it maximized.
N.B. I do <b>NOT</b> want to open in <b>fullscreen</b> mode, i.e. I want a title bar and menus.
Does anyone know how to do it?
I tried to play around with the "window function" property of the iView, but no luck so far. I can't specify a fixed width and height of the target window at design time, as these values may vary at runtime.
    regards
    Lothar

    Hi Lothar,
Yes, That will require Java Coding, Its true. Basically what the problem here is that to maximize we are trying to fetch the Screen resolution dynamically through Portal that Portal is not allowing us. Thats why I feel that we should go for Java Programing, Create a Par, Deploy it in the server and then create iView for that.
For Creating the Abstract Portal Component for Opening a Maximized Window You should do following steps.
    1. Open Your NWDS
    2. Create a project ie Portal Application
    3. Create Portal Object ie Abstract Portal Component.
Now here is the piece of code that may help you
              response.write("<SCRIPT language=javascript>");
              response.write("function onOpenWindow()");
              response.write("{");
              response.write("window.open('http://abc.com','windowName','width=screen.availWidth,height=screen.availHeight,resizable=yes')");
              response.write("}");
              response.write("</SCRIPT>");
              response.write("<a href = \"javascript:onOpenWindow()\">abc.com</a>");
    Paste this code in doContent...
I think it may help you
    Thanx & Regards

  • How to use an self-made iView in the Portal Content?

    Hi everybody,
I followed the instructions to set up a Portal (6.0 SP 2) with the PDK. Now I just wrote a simple "Hello-World" iView and deployed it into the portal server. It worked fine when I clicked to test it in the Java Development Inspector.
    But...
In the Portal Content I can not find my self-made iView? How do I get it there? I coudn't find any documentation.
    I'd appreciate your help!

In the portal content try to create a new Iview and select the option (create new iview from portal Archive).
After selecting that you will see all the PARs deployed on your server, just select yours and follow on.
    Hope that helps.
    Thanks

  • PDF Rendering in EP6

    Hello,
I am integrating XMLMILL (www.xmlmill.com) into EP6 to provide PDF rendering on the fly from xml+xsl data.
I finally got it working and I am now able to render impressive PDF files but seems xmlmill is not fully compatible with EP6 from different perpectives: xml-xstl parsers/transformes, logging subsystem and class loading (retrieval of resources) as well as compatibility with PAR deployment process.
Is there anybody else that has tried this tool or a similar one into EP6?
Would like to share your experiences.
    Thanks in advanve & Regards
    Vitaliano Trecca

Yes we also use a tool to transform XML into PDF from Apche (FOP project) and we have the same problems as you (incompatibility between Apache libraries and EP6 libraries). In EP5 it worked fine since the inqmy libraries were not automatically loaded at runtime !
SAP people from the development are actually working on this problem. I'll keep you informed if they found a workaround for this.

  • Changing colour of page toolbar

    Hi,
I've done nearly all branding that I need for a portal accept for one thing - I can't find where to set the colour for the page toolbar (where the page title, history link, back link etc is placed)... Is there such a setting or do I have to modify the page layout or some code?
    Thanks in advance,
    Christine

    hi,
Go to system admin ->Support -> portal runtime -> Browse Deployment ->ROOT/WEB-INF/deployment/pcd.
    under it search for com.sap.portal.navigation.pagetoolbar.par.bak.
Download it, remove the .bak extension. Import it to the NWDS with the different name say <b>new_toolBar</b>. In it go to the <b>lightpageToolbar.jsp</b>. Add the line as i told earlier.
Deploy it to the portal from NWDS. Now go to the Content admin -> Under a folder select New from Par -> iview and search for the project that you deployed to the portal(new_toolBar) under which you select the component LightPageToolBar. Now you have created an iview from the par deployed to portal.
Now go to Portal content-> Content Provided by sap ->End user content -> Standard portal users -> default framework page. Open it's object and remove the Page title bar which is provided by SAP. In that place add the iview whcih you have created. Now the modified toolbar appears in the default framework page.
    Hope it helps...

  • Repository filter (namespace) project structure

    Hi:
We are developing a repository namespace filter to enable
manage the visibility and other aspects of news items
    created using xmlforms builder iview.
We use EP60SP2P3HF7 with NWDS 2.0.5.
The wizard to create the namespace filter project created
    the portal project like...
    -Project folder
    --src.api(with packages containing filter classes)
    --src.core
    --dist(containing PORTAL-INF,css,etc..folders)
    --src.config
    In this folder there is install,local folders;
In these foders configuration XML files are located.
After overriding filter() and other methods, when tried
    to deploy, nothing happened.
But after mimicking the example in one of ThiloBrandt's
documentation, it did get deployed, but NWDS par deploy
screen doesn't close. I need to shutdown the studio.
I did even upgrade to NWDS 2.0.8 too, but invain.
Does any body have a good documentation regarding
    developing these filters ?
Thank you much inadvance, for the help,
    Prasad Nutalapati

    Hi,
the most irritating in your posting at least for me was this combination: <i>EP60SP2P3HF7 with NWDS 2.0.5</i>.
I'm really not that deep in the NWDS infrastructure, but I have been teached only to use the NWDS version for the corresponding WAS version - that means at least 6.40, not 6.20 etc.
So why don't you use Eclipse with the provided KM-plugins?! This should more or less work (at least for the repository services the wizard works except for one error it produces, but at least this one is irrelevant for a repository filer).

  • Where to find out the log file under java developer role

    Hi,
I have some application created in NWDS. While running it after the PAR deployment and all. some exception is thrown. the exception iD is given.  I was trying to find out wher the log files are located in the portal so that I can analyze the exception.
I think it is under the java developer role....but under that......I checked the log viewer tool and all.....but exactly where the log files would be located. so that with the exception ID , I can search and find out the log for the particular exception.
    any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Steelman,
Use the search option in log viewer for this purpose. In the server it would be located in
    <i>usr/sap/sid/jc00/cluster/server0/logs</i>
    Hope this helps.
    Regards
