Par file upload

Hi,
I made changes to par file after importing in on NWDS. Now Im unable to export the file due to an error in the NWDS:
" Operation failed: Please make sure the server is running or check log for more details ". Can someone can tell me what the problem could be? The server is running and the all the parameters are correct.
So now, Im trying to upload it directly through System Administration -> Support -> PRT -> Admin Console -> Archive uploader. But the changes I made to one of the properties file using NWDS is not reflecting.
I might have missed something.
I have not used the direct upload earlier, so can someone guide me through this?
Thanks and Regards,
Reena

Hi Darrell,
Thanks for your reply.
I unchecked the 'Deploy par' checkbox and built the par file. Then I uploaded the par file again, refreshed the iview and previewed it. But no changes are reflected.
The change I made was, I removed the WELCOME_CLAUSE in the 'headerIview_nls_en.properties' file. But the welcome text still appears on the masthead iview.
I am not sure if im going wrong in the code or in the method of using the par file.
Any pointers regarding this is appreciated.
Venkat, I have checked my port number, host name and other parameters thoroughly. Still same error
Thanks in advance,
Reena

  • PAR File upload Failed in NWDS

    Hi ,
i.While i m trying to deploy PAR file from NWDS it showing Error like this"<b>PAR Fileupload Faild Please Check the user Name And Password</b> " .Also I tried this with admin Userid and Password,it showing the same error.
ii.I can able to Login in to the Portal,But i cant deploy the PAR File.
Help me to get through this .
    Regards,
    Malini.V

    Hello Malini,
There is no configuration on server side for uploading PAR files. Please check your EP Server settings they can be the only cause of error. In NWDS please go to Windows->prefrences->SAP Enterprise Portal. Provide all the necessary details over there.
You should use a user id which is having super_admin role assigned to it.
In case you still get error that upload failed, In NWDS please go to Windows->prefrences->Workbench->Proxy Settings. remove proxy if it is there.
Also the upload can fail depending of the content of the file, please ensure that there is no error in the code you are using.

I was able to solve a similar issue in the past using the following approach.
First, check the file plugin.xml at the following location on your computer where NWDS is installed.
    .....\SAP\IDE\IDE70\eclipse\plugins\com.sap.ep.applicationDevelopment_7.00\plugin.xml
Paste the following code in this file under extension point for the open par wizard.
    <wizard
    name="PAR file"
    icon="icons/OpenPar.gif"
    class="com.sap.portal.developmentTools.ideSpecific.eclipse.wizards.openPar.OpenParWizard"
    id="OpenParWizard">
    <description>
Create a Portal Application Project from a PAR file.
    </description>
    </wizard>
Also, place the same code in plugin.xml file located at the following location: ....\SAP\IDE\IDE70\eclipse\plugins\com.sap.ide.eclipse.import.iaik_2.0.0\plugin.xml
    Thanks,

  • Creating a par file

    Hello All,
I am a newbie to SAP Netweaver platform. I am trying to create a webservice to be deployed to Enterprise Portal to be called from a .NET application. I have SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio and SAP NetWeaver 7.1 Composition Environment SP03 PAT0000 on my laptop.
I have used the Enterprise Portal Application perspective to create the project to create a portal application. I have written the code necessary ( not functional just to test) andI am trying to see how to deploy it toEnterprise Portal. Going thru the forums and docs I see the way to do this would be to generate a par file and deploy to the server. The common options I came across are to right click on the project and do "Quick Par Upload". The problem is that when I right click on the project in the studio I do not see this option. I am at a total loss at this point to figure out why.
The other option I saw was to do Right click on project and then do a export of type par. Again I do not see this option but only see SAP WAR and SAP EAR - nothing which says par.
Reading thru the forums I saw suggestions which says where I should go to Window->Preferences to set up J2EE servers. Again I do not see that option. IS there something obvious that I am missing?
    Help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Sujith

    Hi Sujith,
    Please Check these,
To deploy a par file into potal you have to select "Export" option when u right click on the project
Your  project should be in Enterprise Portal Perspective
    to do this ,
Click on the icon with + symbol  near by Package explorer
Select other -> choose  EP -> hit OK
Now you can see the  EP icon under the icon with + symbol. click that
Now you are in EP perspective
Follow these steps to upload par into portal:
Rightclick ur project -> Export ->Next -> Select ur project ->
    configure server settings -> add
    Give these details:
    Alias: AnyName (Eg: DEV)
Host: ur portral server name (eg: mydevserver u can pick this from portal url path)
    Port: portal sever port (ex:50000)
    Login:portal user name
    Description: (optional)
click ok and enter the password
    Hit Enter.
Now ur par file uploaded into portal
    Check:
You can check this in ur portal system admin --> support -> portal deployemenyt -> serch for tur project name

  • NWDS 7.0 Error during Quick PAR Upload and while trying Exporting PAR-File

    Hello,
I am trying to use the functions "Export as PAR-File" and "Quick PAR Upload" in NWDS 7.0.
Unfortunately I got an error every time when I am trying to use this functions. I am using the package explorer in the Java perspectiv in NWDS for starting this functions. The error tells me the following:
"Unable to connect to the Portal"
"Operation failed: Please make sure the server "XY" is running or check the log (sap-plugin.log) for more detail"
    Thats all.
When I am looking in the log-file I can read the following messages:
    "ACCESS.ERROR: Authorization check for caller assignment to J2EE resource [keystore-view.TicketKeystore: view-actions: GET_VIEW:ALL]"
    "ACCESS.ERROR: Authorization check for caller assignment to J2EE resource [keystore-view.TicketKeystore: view-actions: IS_VIEW_EXISTS:ALL]"
    "ACCESS.ERROR: Authorization check for caller assignment to J2EE resource [keystore-view.TicketKeystore: view-actions: SIZE_OF_VIEW:ALL]"
    "ACCESS.ERROR: Authorization check for caller assignment to J2EE resource [keystore-view.TicketKeystore: view-actions: READ_ENTRY:ALL]"
    LOGIN.ERROR|null|| Login Method=[default] UserID=[user_Admin] IP Address=[192.168.xxx] Reason=[Cannot authenticate the user]
I have tried this with several users and their passwords. All of the users have admin-rights at least in the portal. One of them even in the SDM.
I can sucessfully deploy webdynpros from NWDS into the same Portal with this users.
We are using SAP Logon Tickets and SSO is configured working fine between Portal and backend.
We have imported Key Store File in NWDS unter Window --> Preferences --> Java Development Infrastructure.
And we are not using the NWDI.
Who knows why I cannot even export par-files? Are their any configurations missing?
    Best regards,
    Iris

    It is mentioning about authentication.
check whether you have access to deploy directly or not ? maybe direct deployment into portal disabled .
I think you have to follow the procedure of checkout and activate procedure.
    Can you clarify few things
    1) Are you using NWDI Based Transports in your landscape?
    Login Method=default UserID=user_Admin IP Address=http://192.168.xxx Reason=Cannot authenticate the user
http://192.168.xxx  is it your development portal?
Did you clarify with admin people whether direct deployment disabled?

    Hi Nicolas,
    In you development server,
    1. Create a new iview  (With new from PAR file option). The iView wizard gives you the option to choose the PAR file available on your development portal.
    2. Now create a Transport Package. Navigate to System Administration - Transport - Export.
Navigate to your Transport Folder in PCD.
Now Create a new Transport Package and add the iView to the package (iView created earlier from PAR file).
    3. Now go to Transport Package properties and Make sure, you are changing the property id prefix to * .
This will include every object associated with the iView while manually exporting.
    4. Now click on the EXPORT button. This will export the required PAR file with. This in turn create an EPA file. save it to your desktop.
    5. Now in Quality server,
    Do the manual Import.
Navigate to System Administration - Transport - Import.
Browse the EPA file on your desktop and say IMPORT.
This way, you will be able to get your PAR file as well as your required portal object (here the iView) in quality server.
    Hope this helps,
    Cheers!!!!!

  • Not able to view the uploaded PAR file in the portal archive selection.

    Dear All,
I have modified com.sap.portal.runtime.logon.par and have renamed it to some other name.
Now I have uploaded the par file.
The problem is that when choose new from PAR option (to create iview from a par file),I am not able to see the par file in the Portal Archive selection.
I also want to know that if I am able to call the par file in the iview, can I use this iview to have a portal login.
Our requirement is that we want to give login page for the portal in the portal home page. The portal home page will be for the anonymous users.
    Kindly try to guide me

    Hi Nitin,
Check ur Portalapp.xml file. If u have the following code in that just <b>remove</b> them

  • Issue while uploading the PAR file thru system admin- AdministrationConsole

    Hi All,
I have downloaded the PAR file "com.sap.portal.navigation.lightdetailednavigationtree.par.bak" from system admin->support->Portal Runtime ->browse deployment->Web-Inf->deployment->PCD.
after downloaded to the desktop for manual change in one of the JSP file rather than importing into NWDS. I have removed the bak from the file and added the .Zip to the file and i extracted the file.
here inside i got the three folders i.e WEB-INF,PORTAL-INF and file_list. now i went to jsp file called "LightDetailedNavigationTree.JSP" , changed one small property value  in the code from false to true. after that i again zip the folders strcuture make the file name as original in the form of .PAR file. now i am trying to upload it in the portal thru system admin->portal runtime->administration console, but i am getting the deployment error as mentioned in the below.
even though with error, the wrong version of the par file with extension .err was saved in the PCD folder strcture, and original file also still exists. now i wanted to remove the wrong version of the file from PCD, what is the procedure to delete the wrong version, here in administration console i found one button clean , but i could not able to locate the wrong file version , only original right version showing up in the clean dropdown??
Can u tell me what is the procedure to edit the PAR file manually after downloaded to the desktop, rather than going edit thru NWDS??
if we need to upload the PAR file after changes, do we need to delete the original PAR file before we upload the new version of the same PAR or it will be automatically overwrite the original file with the same name??
Still i am getting confusion, please let me know how to edit the PAR file manally and how to upload the PAR file with out any isse while uploading it in the portal thru system admin->administration console??
Any pointers in this regard would be the great help to me??

  • Error while uploading par file

    Hi,
I am trying to  upload par file for the first time. When I try to deploy the par file, I am getting message saying, 'Operation failed: Please make surethe server 'Myportal' (host:port) is running or check the log( sap-plugin.log) for more details'/
I have tried to open the portal  http://host:port/irj/portal. I am able to open the portal and can login successfully also. This means that the portal is running ( Am I right ?).
I have tried to  upload the par file directly from the portal using
    system admin>support>portal runtime>Administration console--Archive uploader.
I got the error messages as given below.
INFO: Detected Portal Archive File: HelloProject.par
INFO: Deployment failed - exception caught: Application upload failed: HelloProject.par - more detail at: E:\usr\sap\IN1\JC01\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\deployment\pcd\HelloProject.par.log
Please guide me about what could be the pbm and  how to solve this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Vishnu Priya

    Hi Vishnu,
Are you trying to upload a PAR file from the NWDS?
if then you need to configure the J2EE engine correctly before doing so
for that matter you need  the port number and also have that the SDM password for deployement
Once these are ready ...go to the J2EE engine tab available on the bottom corner. And make sure the J2EE engine is working. or the server is up.Is this what you are looking for.....if yes.....just reply...I can continue with the deployment..
    Regards
    Arun

    Hi Nicolas,
    In you development server,
    Hope this helps,
    Cheers!!!!!

Points for useful answer will be appreciated.

  • Error While uploading PAR File into NWDS

    Hi Experts,
I have been to this location:
    Server(D)\usr\sap\P64(SID)\JC00\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\deployment\pcd
I have copied this file com.sap.portal.runtime.logon.par.bak and pasted on my desktop.
    Changed the name to com.mycompany.portal.runtime.logon.par
I tried to upload the file to NWDS(File --> Import --> Par file) and I am getting the fallowing error.
    http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/853/error1un.png/
and when i click OK on above Error
    i get this errors : http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/571/error2v.png/
I am unable to upload the Par file did i miss something?
    Regards,
    Siva

    Dear Siva,
    that is indeed strange.
Still don't know if this could be an issue with your NWDS or the PAR itself.
    So let's do 2 tests
    ===============================================
    TEST NR. 1
Let's try and check the NWDS first by creating a custom PAR.
    Don't worry, it's easy.
Just open your NWDS and go to the top menu
    File > New > Project
Inside the popup window that will open please choose
Portal Application (on the left) and Create a Portal Application Project (on the right)
Then give any name you would like (no spaces or dots, etc...)
You now have a Portal project created on NWDS ( you will see a folder on the left side with your project name)
Click on that folder with your LEFT mouse button and choose EXPORT
    Choose PAR File
    Choose your Project
Choose a path where you want your PAR file to be saved. (uncheck the deploy PAR file, but check the include the source code).
    And click Finish.
Now delete the project you have created (by clicking on the folder with your LEFT mouse button again, but chose DELETE project)
Now you're ready to re-import the PAR file.
    ===============================================
    TEST NR. 2
Maybe your standard PAR file that you've downloaded doesn't have the source code included or is corrupted.
Please try to open it with a ZIP program and check what type of structure/files you have there.
Have you also checked your NWDS log ?
You could also share here that log, so that I can better help you.
    Kindest Regards
    /Ricardo
