PAragraph Direction Selection Option is missing in CS6

Hello,
I just downloaded CS6 specifically to do some testing on our Arabic fonts. Even thought I have selected the Adobe World Composer option, I do not have the option that lets me choose the paragraph direction like Adobe's website document shows:
This is what mine looks like:
Can anyone tell me what I need to do to have this option appear in my Paragraph panel?
thanks!
babs

I think that you'd need to either purchase the Middle East edition ($$$), or buy World Tools ($). The only thing that has seems to have changed in English ID, as far as multilingual work goes, is that the World Ready Composer has been exposed.
Can you post this link?
I do not have the option that lets me choose the paragraph direction like Adobe's website document shows:
I have also seen some misleading information w/r/t CS6; I don't think that they're doing a good job showing what is in the ME edition versus other editions. If you're talking about this page
http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/indesign/using/arabic-hebrew.html
then note that it says
New and improved features for working in Arabic and Hebrew are available in the Middle East and North African edition of this software.
Gotta read the small print.

  • Missing direct selection tool

Hi! I'm using CS3. All of a sudden, my direct selection arrow is missing from my toolbar! I tried going to Window > Workspace > Default Workspace... and it still didn't come back. I don't know what I did to make it disappear... but I need it back! I also tried restarting. No luck. Thanks.

It could be hiding under the position tool. Try opt+clicking it to
toggle between the postion and direct selection tools.

  • Select option how to pass in Function Module

    Hi  Friends
how to pass direct select-option values in a Function Module and  later how to retrive the values from FM as well ?
    Regards
    Meeta

    Hello Meeta
You may use a generic table type like RSELOPTION or RSDSSELOPT_T. However, this requires that you shuffle the data from twice from your specific select-options to this generic select-option and vice versa.
A much simpler way is to import the name of the report from which you want to retrieve its select-options into the function module and within the fm just call fm RS_REFRESH_FROM_SELECTOPTIONS.

  • CS6: Direct Selection Preview?

I just installed CS6, and it seems that I cannot preview a direct selection anymore.  I get the frame to resize and rotate, but it doesn't actively preview the linked image/file as it did in CS5.  I cannot find the setting, nor can I find any documentation on this.
Is there a setting so I can have my link preview back?
As reference, I have OSX 10.6.8.
    Thank you for your help.

Luckily I have a really decent work computer, so I'm not worried about performance hits so much as wanting to be accurate.  Also, at work, I unfortunately don't have much opportunity to be patient either.  HAH!
    But, that's for the advice.

  • Missing select-options for kna1-kunnr

    Hi,
Has anybody ever come across this before ?
I've modified a program to add a new select options for kna1-kunnr and added a bit of code that processes the value entered.
In "development" it all tested OK and the program was transported up to "test".
In "test" the users tested and everything was OK.
The program was eventually transported up to "production" but when I run it in production the select-options for kna1-kunnr does not appear on the selection screen ? However, the when I run the program the additional bit of code that I also included does actually execute.
I haven't been able to look at the code yet because SE38 and SE80 are disabled in "production".
It sounds to me that the selection screen has somehow not generated correctly when the program was transported into production but the transport logs didn't display any errors or warnings. I have also had the program retransported into production but I still can't see the select-options.
There are no variants for the program and I'm not getting any security issues on the SU53.
Any help would be gratefully received.
    Thanks
    Stan

    Hi,
You can try system->staus->program name. Double click on program name and see if you enter abap editor. You can check your code there.
Or else just create another transport in development and send to production
    Thanks,

  • [Wine] Direct sound options missing from audio configuration

Hi all, I'm trying to get audio working for Diablo 2 in Wine. I've seen in several places, such as the wiki documentation for winecfg at http://wiki.winehq.org/winecfg and some threads like http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php? … st10366357 that what I should be doing is changing the Direct Sound hardware acceleration level to "Emulation". But my Audio configuration tab in winecfg has no options like that. Here is a screenshot:
I'm very confused, does anyone know how to change Direct Sound options?

This has changed a while ago. Try using wine 1.3.19-2.

  • Direct Selection Tool don't works cause points dissapear in shapes

    Good evening,
I'm using Photoshop CC under a Macbook Pro Retina Display (15 inches), I've noticed that since lasts updates, when I use the direct selection tool for chaning a shape trace the points that should appear for selecting each anchor dissapears, and there's no way to get them back (sometimes by closing the program and restarting fixes this issue).
The tool is working because when I clic somewhere over a shape it gets highlighted on layers panel, but I can't see the points and so, can't modify the shape.
Does this belongs to any option? (I know in Illustrator there's an option to see or hide the points, but don't know if in Photoshop goes the same way or not) or it's a bug from the last updates? (I would say that it didn't happen at the beggining). But as I use a lot shorcuts, sometimes I can make a misstake and press cmd + wrong key, so I think it could be the reason for this... but I'm not quite sure.
    Thanks in advice!
    EDIT:
I've seen that if I hide the "extras" (cmd + H) it hides the guides but also the points from shapes (that shouldn't be this way, right?) and even I can see them when I turn them on, I can't pick just one as I did in CS6 by using direct selection tool and pressing on just one point (at the beggining all of them are highlighted cause you've got selected the whole shape layer, but when you press one, it should get this highlighted and turn off the rest of them), and the only way to get just one point is to pan with the cursor and make a selection, passing over the points you want to highlight, but this is annoying cause if you've got any other shape below, it will select it as well.

1000x this. My designs are 100% vector shapes, so if Adobe have changed this core behavior intentionally, they’ve just made my life a lot more difficult.
We should be able to use the Direct Selection Tool to select a shape layer (similar to how the Move Tool has done) by clicking on any visible pixel. But then we should be able to freely drag-select points on that shape (starting from any neutral area) without selecting other shape layers. This is how it’s worked since before I can remember.
Here’s why the two new selection modes don’t work:
Active Layers - I can no longer freely select any visible shape. Instead I’m forced to make a time-consuming roundabout to the layer palette, where I have to squint to find my shape layer, and activate it manually before continuing. (Hitting “V” to select a layer, then “A” to get back to the D.S. Tool is nearly as cumbersome. Plus, I leave off the Move Tool's auto-select mode.)
All Layers - Treats all my shapes as if they’re on one layer. Overlapping shapes are therefore impossible to work with -- mainly drag-selecting and deselecting points -- in situ.
We either need a “legacy” setting, or some way to constrain selection on drag, via a key modifier or something. This “all or nothing" thing doesn’t work for me... and apparently for others. Why would they change such a thing?
Or maybe there’s something I’m missing. Please let that be the case!

  • Direct Selection Tool - Shape Layers in Photoshop CC Issue

I just upgraded to CC and the first major road block is the new way the direct selection tool works. In my CS6  work flow I would use the direct selection tool to jump between shape layers within the document layer. Then once the correct shape was selected I would click drag select the anchor points I want to adjust. This seems to be impossible now in CC. You can still jump between shape layers but you have to be in "All-Layers" which really hurts when I want to click drag to select specific anchor points because it selects all shapes below it. And with Active-layer selected you can't jump between shape layers with the tool but you can click drag select anchors with out selecting and shapes below the layer. The basically cut functionality right down the middle…
Below I made a very simple video showing the issue (CS6 = first PSD and CC = 2nd PSD)
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/pjlvwzmli9ihczd/CCProblemBroadband.m4v
As you can see in CS6 I could fly between layers and adjust everything with out ever changing to another tool or jumping to the layers window… I can no longer do that in CC with out having the dumb issue of also selecting the layers below it, which I don't find useful 99% of the time. Is there a setting to make this work like it did in CS4-CS6???? In my line of work, we work a lot with shape layers and this is causing more time to my work day.
    Thanks

  • Select-options in tabstrip subscreen

    Hello
I am developing a report in which i have the following components,
Report first calls a main screen 100 which will display a Tabstrip. The first tab in the tabstrip has a subscreen 111 to display the selection screen.
Now i need to have select-options in this subscreen 111. I think the only way to have the select-options is by programming a selection-screen with screen number 222 and call this in the subscreen 111.
I am able to see the select-options, But the issue is, the value of the select-options are not getting passed to the program. They seem to be blank.
Did i miss any step or is anything wrong? Your help please.
    Thanks
    Subha

    Hi,
The issue in my case is the selection-screen is not called directly by a main screen in a report program. The selection-screen is present in a tabstrip control subscreen. So the flow is, report calls a main screen -> main screen contains tabstrip control -> first tab of tabstrip has a subscreen which should have select-options. Since select-options cannot be directly put using screen painter options, i need to use another subscreen. So how do i pass the value of this select-option to the main program?
    Thanks

  • Where is the options bar in PS CS6

    Directions say this?
By default, dragging with the Direct Selection tool adjusts multiple related segments, letting you quickly transform path shapes. To edit only segments between selected anchor points, reflecting previous Photoshop versions, select Constrain Path Dragging in the options bar.
I can't find it to save my life. Please help.

I saw that before and yes, it is clicked as you can see in the attached photo. I noticed it go away and come back as I clicked it and of course being labeled Options I was sure that was it. So after that I still don't see the Constrain Path Dragging. In fact mine doesn't look like yours. Mine has an additional choice of Auto Add/Delete which is checked. If I uncheck it nothing changes other than it being unchecked.
Im still stumped. This is a real copy of CS6 purchased. It is the Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium. Allows for 2 computers and so far I am the only one who has installed it.
    Anything else?

  • Problems with Direct Select tool

Maybe I'm just dumb or something but the Direct Select tool is just broken.
    1. When trying to move points ( remember this is the direct select tool - it's only function!) It moves the entire object unless you perfectly hover and wait over the point.
    2. When trying to select a point you grab the placed image inside the frame.
Shouldn't it work EXACTLY like it does in Illustrator? If I click on an object the entire thing selects then I can move it if I wish. But the cursor seems to snap to the point so much better in illustrator!
If I want to move the image inside the frame I wouldn't be using the Direct Select Tool. I'd by using the select tool. Moving the image shouldn't even be an option when using this tool.
This is probably the most frustrating part of Indesign. Please fix this.

Your frustration is understandable. Anchor point selection is unforgiving in InDesign, especially when compared to Illustrator with Smart Guides, although I wouldn't call it "broken."
I suspect most InDesign users don't do enough "path editing" on their InDesign pages for there to be an outcry over this.
    Pablo28282 wrote:
It shouldn't be able to select and move an image. That is not the point of the tool.
That's always been a function of the Direct Select tool. Simply, if you're aiming for an anchor point and select the frame's content instead, you've missed the point. <rimshot>
There's nothing broken, and no advice to offer, other than zoom in further, slow down, and keep an eye on the pointer cues which change when the pointer is over an anchor point. I suppose it's also possible you could make adjustments to your mouse/input device settings that might help you move and click more precisely.

  • How do i get my direct selection tool to work properly?

using adobe cc 2014 and all of a sudden the space bar does not turn the direct selection tool into the hand to drag a pasteboard.
it seems universal across the above programs
amazing how such a little thing kills productivity

    spooney,
As I (mis)understand the issue, you may try the list.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file, and when it is not caused by issues with opening a file from external media. You may have tried/done some of them already; 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save current artwork first, of course.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible), for CS3 - CC you may find the folder here:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/preference-file-location-illustrator.html
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.
