Paragraphs do not align to grid

Hello there:-)
I created a baseline grid of 6pt, body text 12pt, head lead 12pt, space before and space after 12pt and 6pt. In one chapter, everything aligns, in the second one the paragraphs do not align. I'm going back and forth the paragraph style to change the space before and after of the head, but everything is still the same. What am I doing wrong?
Any help is appreciated.

I think you're right. Could you please give an example of how to do this "Unless the total of the leading, space before, and space after total an increment of 12 you'll be off grid."? I just need to see some numbers to see whether I can correct this.
Many thanks.
Well, in all honesty there's no way to do this so that you always have grid alignement and consistent spacing between the headings and and the body text unless they all use a leading value that's a multiple of 12 and all space before/space after is also a multiple of 12 (or whatever number you've chosen for the leading or the body text).  As soon as you introduce an odd number you're going to wind up with a larger space below a heading (usually at the top of the page), or a misalignment.
On the other hand, if youy keep everything in multiples of the same body text leading value, you don't need a grid to maintain alignment.

  • Subcircuit pins do not align with grid and will not connect

I have two identical subcircuit symbols.  One is just fine, but the other has pins that do not align with the MS grid, and one that will not even connect.  MS12.0.0.
    This one is fine:
This one pins are off grid.  The circled one will not connect.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi,
I have been experimenting a bit with this. One thing you can try is open the Symbol Editor, select the pin which is not connecting and then from the spreadsheet view, change the Shape to Zero-length Pin. Then try to see if you can connect the pin in the design. It will not appear as a line but you should still be able to connect to it.
If this does not work, you can open a service request and we can try to see how to resolve the issue.
    Hope this helps.

  • Photos not aligning to grid when importing from digital camera,or file

I hope I am in the right place. Just starting today, when I import photos from my digital camera, or files sent in an email, they are not appearing in order, in the grid alignment. There are spaces in between the photos, they are disorderly, and I have to manually put them in alignment. I have selected "align photos to grid" in preferences, and I am at a loss as to why this is happening just now.
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
    CGM

A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.

  • Symbol isolation mode, the pixel grid is not aligned to the ruler.

If you create a symbol that is pixel perfect, exit out of the symbol and go back in, the pixels bleed into each other because the pixel grid is not aligned correctly. Instead it is aligned to the global document grid which the symbol content is not placed in. It makes no sense to align the pixel grid to the global coordinates when the content by definition is not present in it.
This makes it impossible to use symbols to edit pixel perfect objects because any editing other than the original creation does not display pixels but pixel bleeds.
This is a valid bug in Illustrator CS6. Please specify:
    1. Do you understand what I am specifying? If you do not I will provide images as I wish to resolve this functionality.
    2. Please specify if it has been fixed in Illustrator CC. I do not have an available Win7 installation to test CC but if it is I will acquire one.

Thank you submitted. Input from Adobe's developers or developer relations representatives on this forum to expedite a solution to this bug would be greatly appreciated. As Adobe's products are now on a subscription one would hope it's product roadmap would accelerate with regards to Illustrator considering the necessity of Vector graphics in a market with multiple largely varying resolutions.
If you create a symbol that is pixel perfect, exit out of the symbol and go into Symbol edit mode (from the Symbol Panel or when a symbol's dimensions have been modified) the Pixel Preview grid is not aligned correctly. The Pixel Preview grid is nonsensically aligned to the document's coordinates. It makes no sense to align the Pixel Preview grid to the document's coordinates in symbol edit mode as it causes an inability to see the Pixel Preview without bleeding.
This makes it impossible to use symbols to edit pixel perfect objects because any editing other than the original creation does not display pixels but pixel bleeds.
Again the fundamental issue is that: There is no reason to align the Symbol Edit mode to the global Pixel Preview grid. The Pixel Preview grid should align to the Symbol coordinates.
    http://i.imgur.com/KB2CdEx.jpg
The screenshot is in Pixel Preview. Moving the contents of the Symbol in Edit mode from it's correct position to temporarily align to the Preview Pixel grid is incorrect:
    1. Because you just moved the correctly placed contents. The Symbol placed in it's parent to prevent pixel bleeding is now incorrect.
    2. On a subsequent edit it would be misaligned because as specified, Illustrator aligns the contents of Symbol editing mode nonsensically to the global Pixel Preview grid.
With regards to Align to Pixel grid
    1. This is a bug regardless of improvements to Align to Pixel to facilitate an acceptable workflow.
    2. Align to pixel grid is not an acceptable workflow:
    a. Not possible to place path vertices in the middle of a pixel to facilitate pixel strokes.
    b. Mangles rounded corners.
    d. It is not prudent to rely on an arbitrary algorithm with regards to forward or backward compatability in creating anything, considering the possibility of mangling and/or changed behavior as specified above.
The workflow to create pixel perfect UI elements is to position vertices absolutetly.

  • Dashboard widgets are not aligning - what gives?

I have several weather widgets (different cities in the world) that run in Dashboard.
Each time I start up my computer and run the Dashboard, the widgets have moved up/down - basically out of alignment.
This began a few weeks ago and I can't figure it out. I line them up each time into a neat grid, and then after a startup, they are all out of line.
Anyone else have this happen? Any ideas how to fix it?
I have screen shots that I can email if anyone wants to see them.
Leopard 10.5.7 on an iMac 2.8, 4GB RAM.
    Thanks

Trashed both the plist files that resided in ~user/Library/Preferences.
Restarted and the widgets are not aligned in the grid that I set them to.
Arrrrggghhhh ... this is really irritating. Not life-threatening, but irritating.

I can tell you that having no document type declaration (DTD) on the first line of your HTML docs is not a good thing and sends your page into Browser Quirks Mode.
DW   automatically applies a doc type to new pages so you may have copied & pasted this code  from someplace else ??
To fix this problem, Go to File Menu > Convert > Select a Doc type that fits your coding skills.  Either XHTML or HTML (transitional).
HINT:  It's a good idea to use HTML heading <h1> <h2> <h3> or paragraph <p> tags around your text content for search engines to find.  Heading 1 carries greater importance than heading 2 and so on...

  • Illustrator CC will not snap to grid, no matter what!

    Hello,
I apologize if this seems a redundant post, I've read many people asking this but have seen no definitive answer, so I wanted to simplify the question and see if we can get a real answer:
I'm using Illustrator CC, and snap to grid DOES NOT WORK FOR ANYTHING. For instance, if I try to draw out a rectangle, the top left corner will not snap to the nearest grid where I start to drag it out. For another instance, if I use the pen tool, it WILL NOT snap to grid. To be clear, I have "snap to grid" checked under the view menu, and do not have "snap to point" or "smart guides" turned on. Alternatively, any combination of these being on/off still will not yield a snap to grid. I have also experimented with the "align new objects to pixel grid" under the "transform" window on and off, which did not help either. Even with that checked on, existing objects will not snap to the grid. In short, nothing snaps to the grid - this is occurring on 2 different computers, one at home, one at work, both running the same version of illy CC. I don't get it, it seems like there are a lot of people having this problem but I cannot for the life of me find an answer, it seems like a life-or-death option that should be available, I know that I am lost without it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
As a caveat to this, I have tried most every option under preferences, so unless you know of something hiding deep, I doubt that changing a preference is going to be the solution here. Thanks all!

    Thanks Larry,
I have seen this posted as a solution, but to be clear it is not just a matter of rectangles not snapping, NOTHING will snap to the grid. Not a rectangle, not an existing object, not the pen tool, nothing. Even if I create a rectangle and go through the steps of expanding it to get rid of this new "live" feature, it still will not snap. So, I'm afraid that rectangles are not the culprit here, and I know from reading the forums that others are having the same issue with snap to grid simply not working at all.
RUNNING THE MOST CURRENT VERSION OF ILLUSTRATOR CC, I UPDATE FREQUENTLY.

  • Tabs not aligning in cs6

Have three lines of text formatted with tabs giving 4 columns of numbers, no tab on first column which is descriptions. Text has a paragraph indent. Using soft returns to carry tab attributes through paragraph. Also using 'indent to here' character on first line. Tabs do not align. Have to insert an additional tab in place of 'insert to here' for numbers to align. Previous versions did not have this problem. Anyone else encountered this?

Judging from the tags on the original post, this is a Mac file,
Oof. Yup, that'd be a Mac file. Bowie, it might be useful to do that even though you know it's a new file - you could tell us exactly which version of CS6 you are using, e.g. 8.0.1.406
(Joel, it seems your tabs setup doesn't quite match that of Bowie.)
You're right, Tom - I would have thought that the differences were insignificant.
Either there is something that I am missing (I hammered this sample out in fifteen seconds, it's quite possible that it's still not an accurate recreation) or perhaps this issue is be platform-related. Also, I'd want to second Mike's suggestion here - is there any way you can post this file (or a file that recreates the issue without sharing any proprietary info) to something like Dropbox?

  • Illustrator CS 6 - tabs not aligning

anyone else having an issue with tabbed text in a paragraph not aligning?

    I have the same problem!
Illustrator CS6 ran fine before I installed OS X 10.10 Yosemite on my MacBook Pro.  But it never ran once afterwards.  When I launch AI CS6, it says it needs me to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.  Did anyone else encounter this?  I don't want to install the older version of java without knowing if it'll fix the problem, or what the impact will be to other programs which all seem to run fine after my upgrade to Yosemite.  Any guidance out there for us?
    Thanks a ton!

  • ICal Week view, Date is not aligned with the Time(schedule) of each date

Well, just like it says over there (`` ). I've recently been to China for a business trip, and I suppose the different time zone may have had something to do with the problem. Now I'm back home, changed the time zone back to normal, still the iCal shows in the weekly view that the Date on the above is not aligning with the Time and schedule. Any suggetions would be grateful!!!

    Hi,
i omit the scheduling maergin key in material master,
    the result of MRP is
    BASIC DATES
    Finish 15.10.2009
    Start 14.10.2009
    PRODUCTION DATES
    15.02.2010 14:33:25
    14.10.2009 07:00:00
scheduling type i planned order is still "backwards"
so in MD04 it is say that the goods is available at 15.10.2009 same with requirement dates.
    this seem not right.
it seems that order finish date is not adjusted by lead time scheduling on "today scheduling".
Is there a way so order finish date is adjusted by lead time scheduling on "today scheduling" ????

  • GR and GI for the Subcontracting PO are not aligned

    Hello,
We face an issue were the posting dates of the
GR(101 mvt) and GI(543mvt) for the Subcontracting PO are not aligned (GR takes
the posting date as the next day and GI as the current date).
We did an initial analysis and found that it is
the user time zone that leads to the different posting date. The user who does
the GR has a time zone setting of UTC+8 maintained in her user profile.
Whenever the user does a GR for the Process Order after 18:00CET, system
proposes the posting date for GR asthe next day. But GI picks the current date.
As per subcontracting scenario, the GI(goods issue from subcontracting stock)
happens whenever we do the GR. We understand that time zone has an effect on GR
posting date but the question is why GI posting date is not affected? Is it a
    standard SAP behaviour?
    Procedure -
We create the Process order via COR1 transaction,
In the master recipe we have maintained the control key for the subcontracting
    operation.
Purchase Requisition will be created from the
Process Order. This PR is converted to Subcontracting PO via ME21N. The
    delivery and PGI is done
via ME2O transaction. We have a custom transaction
to do the GR similar to MIGO transaction.

    Hi Manikumar,
Empty the Personal time zone for the specific user & test the same. As by default, system time is maintained in UTC time zone.
    Thanks,
    Nihar
