Paragraphs in  HPF Area description

Is it possible to get linebreaks into the Homepage framework Area Description (Long Text)?
It seems to ignore carriage returns entered in the IMG and HTML encodes <BR>.

@Anil Kumar Venkatappa
That's fairly basic HTML coding...to open in a new window, add
target="_blank"
into the hyperlink. So something like
<a href="http://www.mycomp.com" target="_blank">THIS IS A LINK</a>
would do the trick! Hope this helps.

  • Missing Area Description (long text) in ESS EhP5

Our company heavily uses the ESS Area Description (long text) to communicate FAQ's, tips, and other help information on ESS.  We like how this information is directly visible to users on the area pages.
We are in the process of upgrading to EhP5 and it appears this field no longer exists in the new LaunchPad.  Instead, is the intention to use the portal Help Center instead?  I would like to get a definitive answer before I communicate back to the business of the change.
    Thanks,

  • IMG HPF Area Page Customizing not reflecting in Portal

    Hi,
I'm near to smashing my keyboard, but before I do so, maybe someone is able to help me:
In IMG Homepage Framework I've got a custom Area Page which has a Headline Area Description and an Area Description Longtext. I need to change the contents of these two fields. If I change the Headline Area Description, it reflects in Portal right after relogging. If I change the Area Description Longtext it still shows the old Area Description in portal. This is not supposed to happen and it never happened before.
    Backend System: NW 7.01 Stack 8 ECC 6.00 EHP4 SP36
Portal Server: NW 7.01 Stack 9, All respective XSS Java Components and Business Packages Updated to EHP equivalents
I direly hope this is not due to the difference in Stacks ( Backend 8 - Frontend 9 ).
Portal cache has been cleared and portal has been restartet, without any effect.
    Any ideas?
    regards, Lukas

I haven't used external entries. From the Document you provided however, I take it, if I used one, I could just override the "bugged" Long description with an html file.
UPDATE/EDIT: When I create a HTML File in KM Content and pack it into a Ressource for external Linking in the Area Page. It does reflect, but looks horrible. If I remove the external entry again and keep the description long field blank. The old text reappears in ESS...
I looked through all the relevant tables in SE11/SE16 the entries in IMG do reflect; just not in ESS.
Aside from this workaround. Any other ideas why my problem occurs?
    regards, Lukas

  • Why are descriptions missing from my tv downloads now?

In the past 2-3 weeks my downloads from season passes are no longer including the episode descriptions. This is occurring on multiple season passes. I am not aware of having made any choices which would keep these from being included. Is this a widespread issue? Is there a fix? Thanks!

    Hi,
A lot of people are reporting this problem, including me. Do not bother to re-download, I did and it didn't help. As a matter of fact, the Season Pass(es) I'm having problems with, some had descriptions, but when the iTunes Store reflagged ALL the episodes, instead of just the two that were missing descriptions, the descriptions I did have disappeared. I noticed that anything downloaded before 10/4/2012 was OK. What was different on October 4? Apple released a "supplemental update" for those using 10.7 and 10.8. I don't know it to be the cause, but on my system THAT is the only change that occurred. Strange coincidence.
All I can suggest is that you keep at Apple and iTunes; its their fault, not yours. You should get what you paid for.
    Good luck.

  • Subject area description as popup in answers?

When we write description for subject area in repository this description appears as a text below subject area name in Answers.
Is there any configuration setting to make it display as a popup (appearing on mouse over)?
    Thanks.

I don't think you can do this. I tried using HTML code on the SA description but it gets encoded by OBIEE so that it displays as plain text, not HTML code. I suggest you raise an enhancement request with Oracle.

  • Work Area Description Functions

    Hello all,
I would like to know if there is a function to modify the description text of a work area. Transaction CBIH02 -> Go to -> Description.
    Thank you in advance,
    Belé

    Hi Belén,
Double click the description field followed by entering the language required in the description menu could resolve the issue. Read SAP help/ following link -
    http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/11/6f8127e80c11d2b4830004ac160be0/frameset.htm
However, long text can be edited by long text editor only, if u r entering long text, then ensure that the push button is displayed at the entry line. Try it, will be helpful.
    thanks & regards,

  • Deleting paragraph tags that are in use is allowed in FM 9!

Has anyone besides me noticed that FM 9 allows you delete a paragraph tag in a document even though the paragraph tag is in use? I've found that the result of deleting the tag is that text with that tag is unaffected and even still has the deleted tag applied to it. However, the tag is no longer selectable from the paragraph tag list. FM8 would prompt would warn you that its in use before you attempt to delete it.
The above behavior is at least the case for documents that I've used that were originally created in FM 8. Anyway, this lack of warning makes it darn impossible to efficiently remove unused tags from a document.
    Thanks.

    Kurt,
I'm not sure why you think that FM8 has been different… it isn't. Every version of FM has always allowed to delete paragraph styles, no matter if they are used or not. Paragraphs using the (deleted) format are now shown with an asterisk, like an overidden format, while keeping all attributes.
This is why 3rd party vendors like ITL sell FrameScript scripts, which only delete unused styles and objects from documents.

  • How can I see where Paragraph / Character Styles are used?

I am editing a 40-page document and have many Paragraph styles. I have already deleted unused paragraph styles and now would like to see where are the remaining styles used to edit the text directly. IS there a way to see it? (InDesign CS4 or CS5)
    Thanks,
    Marina

Save two copies of the file.
Close the original file. In a saved copy, [EDIT] use the paragraph style panel to [/EDIT] change the text color of every paragraph style to a new color whose swatch you name for the paragraph style. For example, Head1 paragraph style's text color becomes your newly-made swatch Head1color.
Every paragraph in the document will appear in the color you assigned. This should give you a picture of which paragraphs are which style.
Save the colored version of the file if you want to keep it.

  • Paragraph in Podcast Description

Is it possible to define separate paragraphs in the podcast description. I haven't come across any explanation of this. Any help would be great.

You can include carriage returns in the <description> tag perfectly well, also HTML character entities such as &amp; (for '&') and so on.

  • Table of contents/paragraph style question

In my dissertation I have many figures with an associated TOC for the figures.  I have one paragraph style for the figure label/description and this is what is used in the TOC.  Everything is perfect except for some of the figure descriptions are much too long to be included in the TOC.  For these long descriptions, I would like to select only a portion to be included in the TOC.
I attempted to make and additional paragraph style to apply to the remainder of the description that matched the original 'figure' style, but named differently so as not to be included in TOC.  Unfortunately, I found that a paragraph style means the whole paragraph so the figure description is all in or all out of the TOC.
Is there a way to apply two different styles in one paragraph so I can split up what is included in the TOC?  Any other ideas?
If all else fails I will just make a hidden layer with the short description right next to the real one.  I'm afraid this me mess up my numbering scheme though.
    Thanks for any insight,
    Joel

Adding the second paragraph is probably more trouble than it's worth, particularly if you're numbering automatically. Among other things, that's going to result in double entries unless you do it for all of the figures and use only the hidden tags.
Why not just edit the text directly in the TOC after you flow the TOC story? There's no law against that, and it's common practice to do so.

  • How to add description of a column of a table in SQL Azure

    Hi
I have some tables in my application database where there are descriptions added against certain columns. Needless to say they were done by using sp_addextendedproperty.
Now I am trying to migrate the Database to SQL Azure. SQL Azure does not support sp_addextendedproperty.
Hence I am not able to figure out how to add descriptions to those columns.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Soumyadeb

    Hello,
Just as Latheesh post above, Windows Azure SQL database are not support extended stored procedures. That’s one of the limitations on SQL database, and I don’t know there is another way to achieve the same on Azure.

    Hi, Yanesh:
Please understand, the FrameMaker feature known as a run-in paragraph, which is a paragraph with a "carriage return" but without a "line feed," HAS NO COUNTERPART in InDesign. InDesign also lacks the FrameMaker side heading feature, which is created by the combination of a reserved area in the text frame and the paragraph property to inhabit that area. FrameMaker separates paragraphs by using the larger of space below paragraph and space above paragraph, but InDesign separates paragraphs by adding the space below paragraph and the space above paragraph.
There are several complicated manual methods of simulating these FrameMaker properties in InDesign.
Here's a recent forum discussion of these exact issues: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3759635#3759635. The thread mentions DTP Tools' conversion tool, the MIF Filter commercial plug-in for InDesign, and discusses its shortcomings. I don't recall it mentioning in-tools.com plug-ins that can simulate side headings, like those in FrameMaker, but they don't convert FrameMaker to InDesign.
You can add your vote for InDesign's developers to include these FrameMaker features, and any others you'd like to see, here: wish.
