Parallel Currencies and Depreciation areas

Hi all
I have a simple question. When we maintain multiple currencies for a company code, what are the requirements for maintaining depreciation areas? Do we need to maintain a seperate depreciation area per currency? I am unsure of the link between multiple currencies and depreciation areas.
Need ur expert help to help me understand this better.
Thxs in advance.
Hrishi

HI
Any Depreciation Posting should automatically post to all the currencies that are active for a company code. In your case Parallel currency. Depreciation area has no link to the currency.

  • Parallel currency and Parallel ledger activation

    Dear all,
In one of our client places, they have done the parallel currency and parallel ledger activation in the middle that is after 1 month of go live. Because of this they are not able to clear the already posted documents. When they  try to clear, all the documents are going to dump. Please suggest what has to be done.
    Thanks & Regards,

Paralle ledger activation in the middle of the year is very dangerous for the previously posted open items.
At the time of clearing system try to post the entries in the parallel ledgers. But parallel ledger not available in the previous postings.
It will result adverse results in most of the transactions. Please check and take necessary action

  • Difference in local currency and Controlling area curr in COEP/COSP table

    Hi,
We had successfully done a depreciation run and the document got posted. However when I looked in COEP and COSS table, there was difference in the amount for local currency which is USD and the controlling area currency (USD). There is no exchange currency translation. Please guide me to fix this.
    Thank you
    DS.

It would be better to understand if you can detail. Is your Company Code currency and Controlling Area currency same?
If different, You need to activate "All Currencies" check box in your Controlling Area

  • Parallel curency in depreciation area

    Hi expert,
I see a lot of posts concerning my problem... It helps me for one part....
With the new ledger, local and group currency are activated. So, i read from the forum that i have to create for depreciation area 01, one copy of this depreciation area with currency type 30. --> ok for depreciation area 01, it works
But the system gives me the same message for depreciation area 51 (system inconsistency), so i alsocreated a copy of it and tried to associate it the currency type 30. But it doesn't work.....
If i put the currency type 30, i have the following message:
Table TABWA is not part of the Customizing object VV_T093A_CURTPV
If i put nothing, i have the following message:
Parallel currency area (currency type 30) missing for area 51
    So I'm going crazy....
Maybe didn't I create the depreciation area 51 (invesment support) as it should be? I had to create it manually as it was not in the COD of my country.
    I don't know what to do ....
    Could you helpme ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
For parallel currency - in your system - check if 2 curriencies have been maintained or 3 curriencies have been maintained.
    Path:
SAP Customizing Implementation Guide - Financial Accounting (New) - Financial Accounting Global Settings - Company Code - Parallel Currencies - Define Additional Local Currencies / or / Define Additional Local Currencies for Ledgers
    Now in Asset Accounting:
Each type of real depreciation area that posts to the GL
    - be it to just the leading ledger or to non-leading ledgers
    and
    - even if it posts periodically
you need to create/maintain extra Depreciation Areas - maintained in these parallel currencies for value.
    For Example:
Wrt DA01 - for Book Area - which normally always post to GL
-> DA01 will normally be maintained in the Company Code currency
-> if you have maintained two parallel curiencies - you'll need to copy/maintain DA 30 in the second currency (group currency) as well.
-> if you have maintained two parallel curiencies - inaddition to  DA 30 in the second currency (group currency), you will also need to copy/maintain DA31 in the third parallel currency (hard currency)
Wrt DA51 - For Investment Support - which may have been configured to post to GL
-> Also copy/maintain additional DAs - maintained in the additional currency/currencies.
Check the currency set-up in AA using T.Codes OABT.

  • Parallel currency for deprciation areas

Company code currency is npr and group currency is INR. When creating the asset it is giving the error as Derived deprciation error.
    Asset  INTERN-00001 0       group asset                         CoCd. 2400
E028 The constituent areas of derived area 31 1 have differen.

    Hi,
While defining the derived depreciation area, you have used depreciation areas which are managed in different currencies. This is not possible since the system cannot calculated the difference between depreciation/APC amount in two different currencies.
You need to correct the configuration of the derived depreciation area in such a way that the depreciation areas used in the equation are having the same currency.

  • COA and Depreciation Areas

    Hello!
Is it possible to assign two different chart of account to a only one depreciation area?
    Thanks
    Best regards,
    Bruno

    Hi Bruno,
    This is not possible.
We just need to understand the concept about assignment of COA and COD, we don't assign chart of account to depreciation area, actually you assigned One company code to one Chart of account (COA)T.code OB62 and same way one Company code is assigned to one operational  chart of depreciation (COD) T.code OAOB. Just go to t.code OB62, and OAOB, you will not get an option to have multiple COA and COD against one company code.
Note: But one chart of account and one chart of depreciaton we can assigned to many company code.
If you go to AO99, system will pick automatically the chart of account based upon chart of deprection assignment to company code and company code assignment to chart of account.
I hope this will clear you understanding.

    Hello
    I have almost similar question...
When executing a profit center report for a company code with another currency (SEK) than the Controlling Area currency (DKK) I get the figures in DKK. When executing a Cost Center report for the same area I get the figures in SEK because of 'Object currency' in RPC0.
Will I not be able to get data in Profit Center reports in SEK without make a currency 'translation' where I have to choose an Exchange rate type and date?

"Customizing inconsistency (contact your system administrator)
    Message no. AC496
    Diagnosis
Company code BP01 manages parallel currencies in Asset Accounting. For each area that posts automatically online to FI, you have to define one dependent depreciation area that adopts both identical values and depreciation terms from depreciation area 01, and which is assigned to currency type 60 and currency INR. There is no depreciation area of this type defined for depreciation area 01.
    Procedure
    Check your Customizing settings."

    Hi Venkat,
Create a New Depreciation area with APC Values and Depn values identical to Value 01.
    Then goto valuation> currencies
Specify the Use of Parallel Currencies> and assign the currency type and valuation view to the new depn area. tick the identical values
    then goto
Define Depreciation Areas for Foreign Currencies> give the parallel currency against the depn area

  • Fixed asset Write up Error. ABZU(Parallel depreciation area 32 is not poste

    Hi Sap Gurus,
I am running into an error when trying to post a write up via "ABZU". Here is the error message "Parallel depreciation area 32 is not posted". Message no. AA565.
    Diagnosis
The asset to be posted does not manage parallel depreciation area 32, or transaction type  that you are using is limited to certain depreciation areas, and does not contain depreciation area 32. This is incorrect.
    System Response
    Posting is rejected.
    Procedure
Check the asset and the transaction type.
I tried "Limit Transaction Types to Depreciation Areas" in t-code:OAXE for derpeciation area 01 and 32 but still i am getting the same error. I am using ttype:700. When i look into derpeciation tab in asset master record i have depreciation area 32 is there. Is there any configuration piece i am missing. We are using area 32 as IFRS in group which is copy of 01.
    Any help will be appreciate.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Babu

    Hi,
    There are the following reasons:
    1) The wrong transaction type is being used.  Please verify that  you are using transaction type in the 700 series for your write-up.
    2) The transaction type is restricted to certain depreciation areas.   In transaction OAXE the transaction type can be restricted to post  only to certain areas.  If the asset manages a parallel area you  have to extend the posting to include the parallel area.
    3) The asset was created before you introduced parallel currencies and  does not manage the parallel area.  In this case, the parallel  area must be created on the asset or the values need to be  transferred to a new asset that manages the parallel area.
    4) Transacion types 600 and 601 can only be used for assets that have a  calculation key in their depreciation area that allows no automatic  calculation (for example depr key MANU).  The unplanned transaction types however can be used with assets that  allow automatic calculation.
You also need to verify that there are entries in Table ANLB for the  asset in question for the depreciation area.
    5) Your company code uses parallel currencies (currency types 10-co.code  currency, 50-Index based currency, 30-Group currency...for example).  The assets created in this company code must have the depreciation areas for parallel currencies active. You can only do this in activating the depreciation areas with  parallel currencies for all the asset classes used in this company code.
Check transaction OAYZ to make sure the areas are activated for all  asset classes in the co.code.  If not, you will need to       activate these areas and ensure the asset has all areas assigned.

  • Parallel depreciation area 04 is not posted.(Assets)

    Hi All,
I have found below mentioned error at the time of Advance knocking off.(F-54)
Parallel depreciation area 04 is not posted.
I have found below mentioned error at the time of Advance knocking off.
    The error message number :AA565
The Asset to be posted does  not manage parallel depreciation area 04,or transaction type that you are using is limited to certain depreciation areas and does not contain depreciation area 04. This is incorrect.
Please help out for this issue.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ram

    Hi Ram
With regards to the issue, if you have activated the use of parallel currencies, all assets created in this company code must have the depreciation areas for parallel currencies active. You can only do this by activating the depreciation areas with parallel currencies for all the asset classes used in this company code. Check transaction OAYZ to make sure the areas are activated for all asset classes in the co.code . If not, you will need to activate these areas and ensure the asset has
    all areas assigned.
Another reason why the error message appeared could be the asset was created before you introduced parallel currencies and does not manage the parallel area. In this case, the parallel area must be created on the asset or the values need to be transferred to new asset that manages the parallel area.
    I hope this information helps.
    Best regards

  • Activate parallel currency in a company

I need to activate parallel currency in a company which is already in production. Anybody knows how to proceed??
    thanks,
    Cecilia

    Hi,
Last year, I have worked on a similiar requirement. The requirement is to activate the group currency as the second currency in the system for a company which is already in the production environment. We have done quite detailed analysis to do it. Our plan was:
At one point of time before we bring the new configuration for parallel currency into production environment, temporarily make the balance of all accounts (open item, non open item) ZERO, then clear the open items, transport the configuration of parallel currency and bring back the account balances with not only at local currency level but also at group currency level. The company subject to change was a medium sized company and they agreed to only see the balances after the conversion. We shared our plan with SAP to understand if they would give support to usin any case if we face with a problem. Then they told us that that type of conversions can only be done by a special consulting team within SAP AG itself. Any change done and caused a problem in the production environment  will not be supported by SAP.
As a result, instead of getting this special consultancy, we have decided to create a new company code with parallel currency activated and make it live at the beginning of the fiscal year and transfer the opening balances to the new company code.
You can contact with SAP to get more information about their conversion for a live company code. But my advise is it is not that much easy to activate this functionality when you are live. So be careful, take your time, share the company detail (which modules are in production, what is the volume of data vs.) with SAP and get their feedback.
    Good luck.

    Hello John
The indicator of Post to G/L account of depreciation area 30 is "4 area posts APC directly and depreciation",here is APC directly, maybe it shouldn't need to run ASKB,
If the indicator of Post to G/L account is "2 APC and depreciation area on periodic basis**" it should need to run ASKB.
I do not quite understand the function ASKB, and system returns error when I run ASKB as you said:

  • System does not reset asset retirement date for Depreciation Area specific transaction after area has been deleted

    Good day,
I needed to create a new depreciation area in a live system. The depreciation area would not post to the GL, but would be used for tax purposes in a currency other than the local currency. When creating this area the asset values were translated at the system exchange rate which did not agree with the values of the manually maintained tax register. I proceeded by creating new transaction types that would only post to the new area, one of which was an asset disposal transaction, which would be used for downward adjustment of the APC value. I made my adjustments at the end of the previous financial year, but had to start over and proceeded to delete the depreciation area to allow me to start over.
After reinstating the depreciation area, my original adjustments were removed, however the assets which APC values needed to be adjusted downward using the disposal transaction, was giving me the AA 478 Posting transaction is not possible (value date not allowed) error.
I've reviewed the asset postings and there is no record of my original adjustment documents. The problem seems to be that field ANLA-ABGDT (Last Retirement Date), is still indicating the date of my previous adjustments and that this was not updated when the Depreciation Area was deleted and reinstated.
Again, I do not have any documents which I can access or reverse to update this table. Is there any way to clear this field without reversing the disposal document?
I'm also looking at implementing SAP note 1618286, to make error message AA478 a warning. I could not implement SAP note 533378 since it only supports component version 46c and we are currently running component verson 605.
I would appreciate your consideration of my problem.
    Regards
    Marius

If you are in Test System, you can use function module AA_AFABER_DELETE to totally delete the depreciation area (tcode SE37, specify chart of depreciation and depreciation area), After that recreate your depreciation area and run AFBN. But before you do that, have you created a retirement transaction type that limits the posting on your new depreciation area? If not create one.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks!

  • Depreciation areas in ANLP

    Hi All,
In the table, ANLP, I can not see some specified depreciation areas and their values even though I see the data for all specified depreciation areas in AS03.
For example, 40 and 60 depreciation areas are specified in OABN. However, in table ANLP, I just obtain results for depreciation area 60 and I can not see the depreciation area 40. For this problem, how can I get the data for depreciation area 40 and depreciation area itself in ANLP?
In general, how can I see all specified depreciation areas and see data for those depreciation areas in ANLP?
    Points will be rewarded!!

    Thank you Nathan!
I have changed the posting status for depreciation area 40 but I still can not see it in ANLP. At that point even though some depreciation areas has posting status 0 (means no posting), they have data in ANLP. For example, depreciation area 25 and 40 have posting status 0 but I can see data for depreciation area 25 in ANLP but I cannot see for 40. How can I obtain data for depreciation area 40 in ANLP? What else can I do to obtain?
