Parallel workflow with final Reviewer in 10.1.3

Hi,
I am looking how to implement the equivalent of Parallel workflow with final Reviewer (used in 10.1.2) in our 10.1.3 BPEL version.
when i used Group Vote + Sigle Approver, it does not give me what i want ............. and how to access the subtasks from a given parent task?
How to create a parent task with subtasks ???
thanks
BG.

Hi Karl!
I've the same problem! Did you find any solution for that problem ???
Thanks,

    Hi Clemens,
Thanks for your quick response. The Taskmanager and the Taskactionhandler are indeed not deployed so I will do that automatically.
    Still one question/remark left:
You noticed that you still have to complete the tasks using the old worklist app. . So if i'm correct, you have to use the deprecated 10.1.2 worklist api or build-in worklist app. The 10.1.2 worklist app is not deployed in my 10.1.3 installation. However, 10.1.3 only contains the new worklist app. Is there also a way to deploy it manually?
Writing this down it al looks a bit clumsy to me. Is it not a better option to invest some time in migrating all tasks scopes manually to 10.1.3, because as far as I can see the human tasks are causing the main issues concerning migration? After this you have a 10.1.3 compliant system. I wonder what your opinion is on this issue.
    Kind regards,
    Tom

  • Parallel processing in workflow with fork

    Hello,
I have a case in production system. the workflow has parallel processing with fork. This fork has 2 branches as inputs.
It has 2 necessary branches with no other condition.
Does anyone know of any scenario where the workflow proceeds ahead with one branch executed even though 2 branches are mandatory.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Take at look at the following 2 articles. Using the concepts outlined in them you should be able to achieve what you are trying to do.

  • Issue in a custom workflow with Approval Type Notification. Urgent

    Hi
I have created a custom workflow which contains an approval notification.
If the user approves/rejects the notification I need to update a table column as Approved or Rejected.
    I have created a function activity,say X, which calls a PL/SQL procedure.
    The issue is,
when the user approves or rejects the notification, the function X errors out even without entering the PL/SQL procedure.
    Following is the error message
An Error occurred in the following Workflow.
    Item Type = XXYH_UMX
    Item Key = 55
    User Key =USERKEY:55
    Error Name = -6502
Error Message = ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
    Error Stack =
    Wf_Engine_Util.Function_Call(XXYH_UMX_WF_PKG.is_resp_assigned, XXYH_UMX, 55, 242407, RUN)
    Activity ID = 242407
    Activity Label = XXYH_UMX_ASSIGN_RESPONSIBILITY:XXYH_UMX_RESP_ASSIGNED
    Result Code = #EXCEPTION
    Notification ID =
    Assigned User =
If I go the function from any other function, say Y, (bypassing approval notification) it works fine.
Can you please help me what could be the issue?
    Thanks,
    Kamath.

The danger in putting in one activity is that if there is any scope longer-term to expand the process to multiple activities, then it may be better to break it out into a sub-process early in the design phase.
Generally, you get the feeling from the client fairly early on about whether they have a final design and how likely they are to complicate the process later on :)
I wouldn't include it as a post notification function myself - it saves a tiny amount of processing time and database space, but at the cost of making it less clear what is happening. Plus you'd need to check the result in the PNF manually - putting it on a conditional branch ensures that you always know what the value is. If the lookup type changes at any stage, you would need to check a PNF to ensure that the code still remains valid; if it's on a branch then the only thing to change would be to change the label on the branch.

    14. Once my photos look the way I want, I then export them to JPEG. I have set up a Photoshop droplet for Lightroom that will then do all my sharpening after export.
That's it! I know it sounds like a lot of steps, but once you've done it a couple of times it goes by really quick. I'm really loving most things about Lightroom in terms of its cataloging and export options. But the image quality of the Lightroom raw conversions just isn't there yet. I've found by integrating both Capture NX and Lightroom I can get top quality results while still gaining advantage of Lightroom's many nice features. It took me a few days of exploration and experimentation to nail down the optimal workflow for my needs. Hopefully this will help some others out and maybe give them some ideas of their own toward a better workflow.

  • BPM Parallel Process with Exclusive Gateway

    Hi,
I am facing issue with Exclusive Gateway in Parallel Process.
Issu is, process always in In-Progress state at parallel Join. I mean process stops at Parallel Join and more over there are no errors in the process. If I delete Exclusive Gateway in Parallel process, the process is going to next level human task through Parallel Join. It means working fine.
I have designed my process in such a way that, 1st task is Human Task ---> then Parallel Split with 2 Human tasks, out of one task performing throught Excusive Gateway and another one is just simple approval. Finally I am merging these two Human tasks using Parallel Join then finally triggerting Approval Human task, and closing the Process.
Appreciate your quick suggestions to fix this issue.
    Thanks in advance,
    Dev...

    Hi Unni,
    Thanks for your reply.
I have checked all the parallel tasks and all are in completed state. No errors.
If I delete Exclusive Gateway it is working fine. I have checked step by step tasks in NWA, and every thing goes well.
Please let me know If I missout anything.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Using workflow with Oracle InterConnect

Has anybody had any experience using Oracle WorkFlow with Oracle InterConnect? I have created events deployed by iStudio to Oracle Workflow but when I try to send the message, the activity/function that I create (both PL/SQL or External Java) using Oracle Workflow Builder never get executed. Am I missing something? Are there any procedure I need to run with iStudio and Oracle Workflow?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Edward

    Hi Edward,
When you say that the function never gets executed, do you mean that nothing in the workflow is running, or just this step?
Is the system status set correctly? Have the event definitions been deployed from iStudio to BES? Have you completed the post installation steps for InterConnect for workflow development?
Is it just the workflow component that you are having problems with? Since the workflow adapter is essentially a customized AQ adapter, this should run fine out of the box.

  • Workflow with delay using ABAP OO

    Hi,
I am new to workflow and trying to design a workflow where the workflow should be triggered after certain number of days.
For ex: Suppose the sales order is created. Then, I need to fire parallel workflows for Administrator like -
    1) 10 days after sales order is created contact department X
    2) 15 days after sales order is created, create dispatch order.
I thought of having a workflow with start event 'ABC' and trigger this event 'ABC' from function module which creates sales order. Then have fork for parallel flows mentioned above. But how can I introduce this delay? I checked wait step, but it waits for an event.
Also, is there any document/weblog which describes creating workflows along with ABAP class(Not using BOR object). I checked this link
    /people/jocelyn.dart/blog/2006/06/28/getting-started-with-abap-oo-for-workflow-using-the-ifworkflow-interface,
but it does not give corresponding workflow integration.
    Regards,
    Srini.

    Hi,
sorry it took so long to answer.
It is possible to evaluate the latest end date by expression. Therefore you chose expression in field: Reference date.
To get your requested start, you habe to do some work in advance.
Create two new container elements in your workflow for your sales order end date -10  and your sales order end date.
Create a step that calls a Z-Task (you have to create this one!) where you evaluate your Sales order end date and your Sales order end date-10  and write that back into a container element (please check your binding). Alternative back in your workflow include a container operation as a step, where you calculate your latest start date (Sales order end date-10).
Back in your original Step you can now maintain latest start and end date based on your new container elements.

  • Integration of Oracle Workflow with OWB

    Hi,
I am using OWB 10gR2. Can you please give me some guidelines on integrating Oracle workflow with OWB? I have to deploy OWB schedules to Oracle Workflow.
    Thanks,
    Praveen

Keep in mind that these are really two different products.
First make sure you have installed workflow (2.6.3 for Oracle10gR1, 2.6.4 for Oracle10gR2 for the TARGET database).
Then create a connection to the workflow schema (default would be OWF_MGR). Then you can start creating your OWF packages using OWB and finally deploy your packages to the newly defined Workflow connection.
On a sadder note, OWF really blows. But that's just me.

  • Asynchronous Processing of Workflow in Final Step Pro's and Cons?

    Hi,
I was wondering if anybody has experience with "Asynchronous Processing of Workflow in Final Step".
in our workflow process we have decided to use Decision type 4:  item based desicion for partial document.
currently we are working on SRM Server 731 and I cannot find this in customization. I suspect I need to enable business function : SRM_APF_IMPR_1.
    can any body confirm this?
But does anybody have some experience using this functionality, and provide some experience in the Pro's and Con's.
on the link i found on SAP website limited information is available: :

Hope anybody can provide some insight.
    thanks Sing

    Hi Sing,
SAP says, that asynchronous processing should be faster for the large shopping carts (Last approver should not wait to long). But actually I have not determined big difference.
If you activate this switch - do not fordet to activate following entry in SWE2.

  • New Nikon Workflow with Lightroom

Just thought I would share my new workflow with everyone, in case anyone is not happy with the raw conversion provided by Lightroom and would rather use Capture NX to do the raw conversion on their files, but still use Lightroom for cataloging and ranking their photos (as well as exporting for web, etc).
    1. Copy all photos from memory card into a folder on your computer.
    2. Import the photos from your filesystem, using the "Copy photos to a new location and import" option. This is so you can work with a copy of the original, rather than the original.
    3. Do your normal process for choosing which photos you would like to take the time to process, and which you would like to just throw away. I use the pick/rejected flags for mine.
    4. Filter your photos by flag status, so only the picks are showing.
    5. Export your picks to a temporary folder somewhere. This is where you will do all your Capture NX processing. I call this folder "Lightroom to Capture Transfer". You want to choose the option to export the original file. I created an export preset called "Export For Capture NX" with these settings in it to make it easier in the future.
    6. Open the "Lightroom to Capture Transfer" folder in Capture NX using the built in file browser, and do all your raw adjustments to exposure compensation, white balance and noise reduction. All of which I find works better in Capture than in Lightroom. Save all your changes back into the same NEF file since Capture can save to the NEF format. Remember this file is just a copy of the original so we don't need to worry about making changes to our original raw file here. NOTE: Do NOT apply any sharpening here inside Capture since sharpening should be done at the end of your workflow. I shoot with my camera sharpening set to "None". If you haven't done this, you should set all your photos to sharpening "None" as part of your batch process in step 8 below.
    7. Set up a watched folder in Lightroom called "Lightroom Auto Imported Photos", and enable Auto Import.
    8. In Capture, create a batch process you can use to convert all your adjusted raw NEFs to tiff format. You will point the batch export to your Lightroom watched folder. As Capture batch converts all your raws to tiff, Lightroom will be importing them into your catalog.
    9. Now you should have a folder inside your Lightroom catalog called "Lightroom Auto Imported Photos". Open that folder, select ALL the photos in the folder and hit "P" to mark them all as picks. Trust me on this one. =)
    10. Now within Lightroom, drag all the photos at once into the folder containing your imported photos from step 2. You should see all your tiffs beside all your raw NEFs. And since you have a filter turned on to only show your picks in this folder, all your other non pick original raw files will be hidden.
    11. Again, select ALL the photos in this folder and "Stacking -> Auto Stack by Capture Time." In the dialog, drag the slider down to 1 second. This should for the most part stack all the same nefs with the corresponding tiffs. Unless you were doing a ton of burst shooting. In which case you can manually stack them. Lightroom seems to always put the original NEFs on the top of the stack.
    12. Select all the photos again, and "Stacking -> Move Down in Stack". This will bring all your processed tiffs to the top of the stack, and hide the nefs. This is exactly what you want. From here on out, you will be working on the tiffs.
    13. Do any final processing to your photos inside Lightroom. Saturation, cropping, spot removal, etc. I also do all my key-wording here. NOTE: I do not do ANY sharpening inside Lightroom because I've found the sharpening just doesn't do it for me personally. I will do all sharpening later in Photoshop after I export them from Lightroom. Your mileage may vary.
    14. Once my photos look the way I want, I then export them to JPEG. I have set up a Photoshop droplet fo

  • Help please importing mpeg files to be edited with Final Cut Studio

Hey everyone, new to the video editing thing. I have a JVC GY-HM100U Pro HD camcorder and a MacBook Pro 5,1 with 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 4 GB 1067 MHz DPR3, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M & NVIDIA GeForce 9600MGT running OSX 10.5.8. Have recorded footage in mpeg4 and want to now edit using Final Cut Pro 7. Have downloaded Quicktime Pro and am still getting a "the movie could not be opened when trying to import the mp4 file. The movie contains some invalid data" window when trying to open the mpeg4 file. I have also downloaded DivX, FF Player, & Handbrake if these help convert to another supported file format. Please help!

That camera is promoted on the JVC website as being Final Cut Pro compatible.
Have you tried to import the clips via Log & Transfer?
You might also want to read up on the [workflow for that type of camera|http://documentation.apple.com/en/finalcutpro/professionalformatsandwork flows/#chapter=6%26section=0].
    Have downloaded Quicktime Pro....
QuickTime Pro is installed automaticallly with Final Cut Studio. No need to buy it again.
I have also downloaded DivX, FF Player, & Handbrake...
That software is all pretty much useless for working with Final Cut Studio.
MPEG Streamclip is free and much better.

  • Error messages during editing with Final Cut Pro

    Hello,
I am working with Final Cut Pro for the first time, editing my first indie movie project. The software normally works fine and when I started this project it ran fine for a while. But the software is now operating increasingly slow, to the point where it won't let me advance frame by frame. And I am getting several error icons popping up in the viewer window and the clip window to the right and I don't know what they mean. One of the icons is a little yellow triangle with a black exclamation point in the middle. Another is a little whi circle with a black letter x in the center. Another is a small green circle with a check in it. Does anyone know what any of this means? Could I be out of ram on the hardrive? I noticed that the changes occurred as soon as I did ctrl + z to undo an edit - it went haywire right after that. I would greatly appreciate any tips, thoughts, suggestions. Thank you.

Slow performance can come from a number of different things. Without knowing more detailed information about your setup or workflow, it's difficult to accurately troubleshoot.
-What kind of Mac are you using?
    -What is your source format?
-Where is your source footage located?

  • Serious dilema with final cut x

    Hi guys,
Firstly i apologise because I'm sure I'm not the first to ask these questions.
    Let me explain myself first.
I work in retail and earn next to nothing, a few years ago I invested in a macbook pro (on finance) and a canon xl1 and a fancy tripod - for me a giant stretch but was under the impression that being a new apple customer and reading up so many great reviews from the industry professionals on apples site regarding Final Cut Studio it would pay off and apple would look after me.
I started with final cut express as it seemed to be a great tool and I wasn't quite ready for the studio as I was new to editing. A few years on and I have generally enjoyed learning to use it, have had loads of problems with widescreen issues with quicktime and iDVD isnt quite up to the challenge but other than its been great and I've started getting pretty hot at editing.
So I was beginning to think lets take it to the next level, why don't I get Studio and use the tool that some of the biggest movie production companys are using, and I was so close to getting in BUT then I heard theres a new one coming out, so obviously I was like 'coolio, I'll wait for that!'
WOAH! whats going on?!! I'm yet to hear a good thing about Final Cut X! I know with any review you generally hear the negatives more than the positives.
I have so many questions running around my mind that I'm going to forget half....
I have a great camcorder, I adore my XL1, honestly I know its not a HD cam but as we all know, its kinda irrelevent because good lighting and audio make a good video, but why have Apple removed the ability to import tapes? Seriously who are Apple to say 'nah we don't like tapes?!!' - I really cannot get my head around this.
I know a lot of people are annoyed you cant load previous projects from previous versions and that would really annoy me aswell but I'm not in that position.
Why didn't apple make final cut X a new version of Express and make final cut studio 8 with the original features, layout and price tag instead of alienated its professional users? Does anyone know about responses from the pros who made these big budget films like '300' and 'the social network'?
This brings me to my next question: As i said i work in retail, a computer store as it happens and we have just got in a new software called Avid Studio. Now, I've always been aware of Avid as another pro tool and seems to me like Avid have responded well to the final cut critism, straight away i read 'supports tape'!!
I read right through it and it looks really good and has lots of things apple do not offer. Has anyone used this software or Avid? I'm considering moving away from Apple now including my iPhone, I just cant justify spending so much on them anymore when they just change there ways so suddenly and without considering poor little me!! Any ideas??
I know there are folk on here like Mr Wolsky who are fantastic members and have been really helpful with tech support but come one guys lets really consider what I'm saying.
    Lots to think about.
    Cheers and peace and love!
    Ryan
ps. pretty sure my mac slows down a bit more with every update and I know it wont handle Lion even with my 4gb ram and intel dual core!

    Tom Wolsky wrote:
but why have Apple removed the ability to import tapes?
They haven't. You can import from DV tape without problem.
Depends what you constitute as a problem.
It will not batch import from DV, nor can you mark a timecode in and out to capture,
    manual "capture now" only!

  • A better workflow with h.264 files?

    Hello!
Sorry for asking a total newbie question.
I am just starting to deal with video editing.
    Ma camera is Sanyo Xacti.
    My video is H.264, 1920X1080,
    My first question is:
When working with Final Cut Pro where i had first to convert my footage to Apple Prores 422 codec to edit. It was fine but all this rendering business in FCP every time you want to try a new effect on a videofile or transition or something else really pisses me out. I come from the world of Professional Audio where the process is real-time and rather fast. Is the workflow in Premiere similar and after every operation you have to suffer from rendering? Can i preview the effects without rendering? These things are crucial to me, because with all this time-consuming rendering the creative fun goes away.
    My second queston is:
From what i read about Premiere Pro CS5, i undestand that now i dont need to convert H.264 files and can work in this program without any additional conversion of these files. But i also read that this codec can be demanding on the computer. I use Mac Pro 8-core with 4 GB RAM. Will it be enough to edit my files in Premiere Pro CS5 as they are or it would be better to convert them first to some friendlier format (without quality loss, if possible)?
    Thank you!

While I agree with Harm that things would go even more smoothly with more RAM, I'll add that you should be just fine with the H.264 footage from your XACTI.  Premiere Pro handles AVCHD and H.264 quite well.  If you set up your sequence right (the easiest way is just to drag the file icon and drop it onto the new sequence button), you will be able to playback without render.  Once you start adding complicated effects, that may slow down playback a bit but you won't need to stop and re-render every few minutes.  I moved to Premiere Pro from Final Cut Express for exactly the reason you describe and I've been very happy with it.  I'm on a Macbook Pro with 8GB of Ram, but I just upgraded to 8 and when I had only 4GB I could still go through my footage and apply basic effects just fine without the need to render.
