Parallels destop - Useing bootcamp disk when multiple OSs installed

Hi Guys,
I am trying to get the most recent version of Parallels to use my Bootcamp XP disk.
As I have multiple OSs installed on different disks the Parallels setup doesn't automatically work and tells me to look at the FAQ on the site for details of editing the setup files to allow this.
I have looked at the site and there is no info on how to do this.
Does anyone know how to do this or maybe the web address of a Parallels forum I could ask on
Cheers
Andy

If you have manually partitioned your drive(s) for use with Windows etc then the Parallels Boot Camp functionality will not work. It requires that you actually use the Boot Camp Assistant to create your partition(s).
I ran into this problem too and had to redo my Windows drive completely to sort it out.
By the way, you'll find the Parallels forums at…

  • Is it dffernet to install windows through parallels and use bootcamp ?????

    I've used to bootcamp install windows , Can i use parallel to use it

    If Parallels will run okay with Panther then you can install Windows into it. Parallels runs like a native Apple program on your desktop. Windows runs in Parallels the same as it would in Virtual PC. If you use bootcamp then you are setting up your Mac to dual boot Windows or the Mac OS. I have tried both and Parallels is way more convenient.

  • Trying to install windows on Mac using bootcamp, but windows won't install?

    I've been working tirelessly on installing a burned to disk windows 7 on my MacBook Pro using bootcamp. Everything worked fine, I booted up windows but the problem was that it wouldn't install at all and just told me that the disk may be corrupted or missing? I noticed the disk was scratched so I reburned it to another disk. When I went to restart the Mac to boot up windows and try the installation again, a message came up saying: "NTFS - 3G could not mount /dev/disk0s4 at /volumes/untitled because the following problem occurred: dyld: library not loaded/ usr /local/libfuse.2dylib referenced from: /usr/local/bin/ntfs-3g reason: image not found." Could this be saying something about the disk? Is there an easy way to just install the **** thing?? In really tired with this, thank you do much for any help.

    Anyone please help me with it? no boot camp sign in Windows And i cant even acess openoffice T.T

    What Macbookpro do you have, which version of Mac OSX?
    1. If you have shutdown completely, connect the power adapter;
    2. On the built-in keyboard press the left side Shift+Control+Alt(option) keys and the Power button AT THE SAME TIME;
    3. Release all keys and the power button at the same time;
    4. Press the power button to turn on the computer, while holding the Alt(option) key on the built-in keyboard;
    5. As soon as you see a menu with the Recovery Partition (Lion only), the Windows Partition and the OSX partition you can release the Alt key, and choose the OSX Partition.

  • Can I use Express to connect multiple ceiling installed speakers?

    I am remodeling my house and would like to put speakers in multiple rooms in my house. How would I go about doing this? Will I need to get an Express for each room in order to control when I want sound to come out of the speaker? If I want to put 2 speakers in the living room, how do I go about connecting both speakers to 1 Express station?

    I agree, hook up the speakers to an amp and then connect the amp to the airport express. and yes, you'll need an airport express for each room.
    while not as cool - and also not as buggy and probably cheaper and definitely more extensible - use wired connections. they're less susceptible to interference (google "airtunes drop out"). then you can get a controller that will let you turn on and off the music/tv/dvd/sound in any room you choose. if you're remodelling your house then i'm sure you're already tearing up the walls. i'd hate to set up my house(!) to use airtunes without a wired redundancy.
    good luck, it sounds like you'll have fun when you're done fixing up the place.

  • Bootcamp Issues when attempting to install Windows 7

    Please excuse my ignorance.... new to Apple after using Windows for ever.
    I am attempting to install Windows 7 on my new MacBook Pro 13" purchased 4 days ago. I follow the instructions from following tutorials on UTube however do not get the option to divide my OS into a mac portion and a windows portion.
    I have got the original Windows 7 disc have also created an ISO version, and have formatted a USB to be MS-DOS Fat. Still no luck
    On the tutorials, it states to open up Bootcamp, then divide the partitians for Windows / Mac, then load up your Windows 7 disc.
    This does not happen on my bootcamp.
    Im asked to create an ISO of Windows 7, which I have done
    Then asked to download the latest Windows support software for Apple - which starts - but never ends
    Then when attempting the third section, installing Windows 7 I get an error message stating please install the installation disc and wait a few seconds
    I am using the Bootcamp that was included with my purchase of the MacBook Pro. Should I search for another one - although I appear to be up to date with applications.
    I am doing this in order to use CorelDRAW via windows on my mac for my small business. Any help would be most appreciated, and please no smart comments as i am really struggling here and everything appears to be simple, but is not.
    Thanks in Advance

  • Is it possible to have multiple partitions on my hard disk drive and use Bootcamp to install Windows?

    Hi all,
    Here is my question: I have MBP early 2011 and was trying to install Windows 8 using Bootcamp but the option to install Windows is grayed out so I can’t click the box next to “Install or Remove Windows 7.” Is this because I have multiple partition on my hard disk drive? Is there anyway I can install Windows 8 using Bootcamp without deleting my partitions on my hard disk?
    Few more details:
    Mountain Lion 10.8.2
    Bootcamp 5.0.0
    Thanks for your response

    You can't create a Boot Camp partition on a drive you've already partitioned, and you can't install Windows 8 through Boot Camp at this time.

  • Installing parallels 7 after bootcamp

    Hi, I installed Bootcamp and now would like to also install Parallels 7 on my computer, but despite all suggestions that I should install Parallels on the Bootcamp partition, when I run the Parallels installation, it denies me to do so as it says it needs to be installed on a OS X disk.... how do I solve this?
    Hopefully I do not need to install Bootcamp after Parallels as it is a bit too late...

    You install Parallels while booted into OSx. Then when configuring Parallels you tell it to use your Windows as the Guest OS. Read the Parallels installation instructions.

    The DVD may be working, but the ISO created from it may not be created correctly.
    Please see How to install Windows using Boot Camp - Apple Support and specifically see Boot Camp: Creating an ISO image from a Windows installation DVD - Apple Support which allows an ISO to be created from the DVD used by Bootcamp Assistant on your Mac.

  • HT5628 How start with windows 8 automatically using bootcamp?

    How i can start with windows 8 using bootcamp?

    When booted under MacOS, you can go to the System Preferences and select your "Startup Disk".  This will allow you to indicate which partition you want your computer to boot from normally, or on just the reboot that you are initiating at that time.  If you have already installed the Boot Camp Utilities under Windows, you can do similar from the tray icon that it loads.  If you boot your Mac from teh Recovery Partition, one of the menu options is to specify the Starup Disk.  You have many options to choose from.

  • HT1461 I have installed the Windows 8 on my MacBook using BootCamp, but I cannot install drivers for Windows now

    I have installed the Windows 8 on my MacBook using BootCamp already, but I cannot install drivers for Windows now: I've got only BootCamp 3 disk and it doesn't goo even if I start it using compatibility options. And my BootCamp on Mac didn't offer me to burn cd with drivers for windows as I saw in many instructions. How can I resolve the problem? Thanks a lot.

    Go back to Boot Camp: on the 2nd page you get this:
    Download the support software and as Windows is already installed uncheck the 2nd box.

  • PS uses scratch disk over RAM

    Hi!
    My Photoshop seems to use scratch disk instead of RAM.
    Here's the scenario: I open up a file, convert it to a smart object and begin tiling it in a new document.
    In task manager the memory usage for Photoshop.exe doesn't grov very much, it's around 300mb when I've duplicated my picture a few times. My scratch disk however has a temp file weighing 5gb! Task manager says also that the total usage of my physical memory is only 23%.
    I have 8gb of RAM installed and I have my Memory Usage Settings set to Let Photoshop Use 5.4gb.
    Now why is it that Photoshop uses my scratch disk even though I have lots of free RAM available? I thought Photoshop only uses scratch disk when the RAM is full?
    I have Windows 7 64-bit with Photoshop CS5.

    It's unclear how big a file you are talking about-doesn't seem to be very big? Photoshop by default will always allocate scratch disk space upon launch. Whether or not it uses it depends on how much ram you have and how big the image is. Photoshop tries to keep it's operations in ram and only goes out to the scratch disk when needed.
    However, Photoshop always uses scratch disk space to track history. If the history step is only a small area tile it doesn't take up much space. If it's the whole document, history can very quickly suck up the scratch disk space. By default the History is set to 20 steps, if you do something involving the entire file, the scratch disk usage could end up being 20X the original file size depending on the number of steps you have in history. Note, the History feature doesn't actually steal ram from Photoshop...it's only writing to the scratch disk but it can get real big real quick and you've found out.

  • HT4407 When installing Windows 7 using Bootcamp, I get message: "Need 64-bit Windows Installation USB drive or DVD."  I thought my install disk was for 32 or 64 bit.  What does this mean?

    When Installing Windows 7 using Bootcamp, I get message:  "Need 64 bit Windows installation USB drive or DVD."  What does this mean?

    It means you need the 64 bit Version of Windows on a USB stick or DVD.

  • Question about Parallels using Bootcamp partition

    I was about to install XP on bootcamp but i would mainly be using parallels to run XP from the bootcamp partition. What i was wondering is that if i was to make any changes to xp like install a software and create a new folder through parallels, would it reflect on the actual bootcamp partition when i load into the actual XP partition using bootcamp? Basically, do the changes made to windows using parallels carry over to the bootcamp partition given you are using the bootcamp partition on parallels?
    Thanks

    Thanks a lot. While i am at it, if i use the bootcamp partition with Parallels, i cannot suspend the VM right?
    Parallels will behave the same, whether it has its own copy of Windows, or is using that on the Boot Camp partition.
    The only difference is backup. If you use Parallels with Windows in a disk image file (Preferably a sparse bundle), Windows can be backed up with Time Machine. If Windows is on its own partition, Time Machine can't handle it.
