Parallels VM - windows vm as guest os - so can install actually on Windows vm (vista)

I bought Dw cs6 standalone for windows and installed on a desktop once... ?This means I can install and in a laptop? this laptop may be a Mac running Parallels VM - windows vm as guest os - so can install actually on Windows vm (vista)???

Generally with Adobe software you can install and run it on up to two systems - including virtual machines - provided they are not used at the same time.
To move your license, it's also fairly straightforward to transfer the software between computers, if that's what you ever want or need to do.

I'm trying to run Firefox on a Mac with Parallels and Windows XP. I can use Firefox, that's fine, what I can't do is sync my bookmarks. They are all synced on both macs, and my old PC, a really slow Dell L110, thus trying to use Parellels. Is there any way to contact someone who can look at why my log in to Xmarks won't work on Parallels? Or if there is a support page somewhere where one can actually get some answers, please let me know. Thanks, Rob Rand

  • When using Parallels for Windows 7, I cannot connect to Wi-Fi. I get drop down menu "Real Network Adapter Thunderbolt Bridge used by Virtual Adapter 1 is not connected to the network". How do I fix?

When I try to connect to internet wirelessly (Parallels/Windows 7 on my Mac Pro) I get a drop down that says "Real Network adapter thunderbolt bridge used by virtual adapter 1 is not connected to the network". I can not figure out how to connect - any help is appreciated!

Since you are having trouble with Parallels or Windows, did you ask in their respective support forums? If not, you might want to consider doing so.

  • Trying to install on MacBookPro with Parallels and Windows 8.1. Downloaded the CreativeCloud.exe but says I can't install from network drive

I sometimes like to use Photoshop CC and Lightroom on the Windows side of my MacBookPro with Parallels. I had to reinstall Parallels and also Windows 8.1 recently and am trying to reinstall some of the software that I had previously on the Windows side. I downloaded the CreativeCloud.exe program and when I try to install it from the Windows side, get a message that I can't install Creative Cloud from a network drive. Where can I put the CreativeCloud.exe so I can install it?
    Thanks!

You probably need to check your drive setup for the Parallels environment. Nothing to do with Adobe.

Help, I installed parallel and windows, and opened videos (on an external hard disk) with windows, and now cannot open them with Mac, and use i movies.  How do I reverse this?

Paragraphs help the reader, just saying.
What are you actually trying to do? Why do you need "DVD size" folders if you're creatng an Archive on an external hard drive?
Also, I understand burning folders instead of individual photos or albums gives you more space on a DVD.
It makes no difference at all.
How can I keep the captions on my photos (not events) when I print or transfer to a new folder?
You can export while writing the metadata to the file in most cases.
Tne only way I know is to copy photos from the Windows to folders on my HD, then copy and paste photos or albums or events to HD, then create a new folder and fill it to the appropriate DVD size.
HD? Another HD? You use HD there in a way that makes no sense. What's the point of 'DVD size'?
I also thought I should download future photos to my Canon programming that comes with EOS cameras and edit and then decide which photos to save to iPhoto library and which to save only to my archival HD?
Does this have any relation to the previous questions? You know you can delete from iPhoto, right?
You're somewhat confused and you need to
    1. Decide what exactly you want to do
    2. Then go about it.
If I understand you correctly - and there's no guarantee that I do -  the easiest thing is to bring all your Photos into iPhoto and do everything from there.
You can have an archive on an external disk, you can sort and select and edit with or via iPhoto

  • Using parallels for windows xp on my macbook

Hello. I want to take online GIS classes from ERSI this winter and am thinking about buying parallels to run their software (which is only supported by windows xp or vista). I am basically pretty computer illiterate and am not really sure about the most cost efficient way of setting this up. I know I have to buy parallels (or bootcamp, which is better for this case?), then buy the windows software, then install and hope for no hiccups the GIS training software (which is not supported by the ERSI online team when run on a mac). Has anybody gone through this specific or related procedure before and what kind of results did you have? Is my plan sound? With my tiger operating system do I still have to buy bootcamp, is that better to use than parallels? I don't have any other plans to use windows except maybe to send photos through my hotmail account. I will greatly appreciate any advice and/or direction you can provide. Thank you,
    Dave

    Hi,
I use Parallels with Windows XP and it runs just fine. I need Windows for one application that is not any where to be found for Macintosh. Follow the Parallels directions for installation and you should have any problems. To use Bootcamp you would need to be running Leopard.

I suggest that you run software update, after which you should have Safari 6.0.5 - then check Safari - Preferences - Privacy & see that 'Block cookies' is not set to Always.
Failing that - switch Safari extensions Off via Safari - Preferences - Extensions & test again

  • 2011 MacBook Pro with Parallels 6/Windows 7/Office 2010 Best Bets

I will be purchasing the new 13" 2011 MacBook Pro and plan to install Parallels 6, Windows 7 and Office 2010. My research so far suggests:
    - I should up to 8GB of memory and the 128GB solid state hard drive
    - Windows 7 Home Premium is the correct option to enable use of of Office 2010 Home and Business 2010, and I should install the 32 Bit version of Windows 7
    - Parallels 6 is a feasible alternative to using Boot Camp
Does anyone advise a different or better approach if my ultimate requirement is to be able to run Office 2010 in the Mac environment?
Does anyone recommend an existing online resource which might already address this scenario?
One post here stated that a Quad Core processor is preferable for the Parallels/Window 7/Office 2010 scenario, but the QCs are obviously only available with the 15" and 17". Is the Quad Core recommendation commonly held?
    Thank you.

This sounds like an excellent option and I'd like research it further. Is there a good overview article or other resource you're aware of? Basically, Windows 7 can be installed in the Boot Camp partition, but tapped into from either Parallels (or whatever one's VM may be) to enable Office to be run in the VM or Boot Camp. The advantage being you'll have only used up one install of Windows 7? Not that there'd be any need, but could you install Windows 7 once as above, but Office in both the VM and in Boot Camp, and the two respective installs of office look to the same install of Windows 7?
Right you install Windows 7 and Office in Boot Camp.. then create a VM and tell it to use the Boot camp partition as the hard drive and it will use the installation that is already there. You won't have to install anything again... and you can use it either way... with boot camp or your VM of choice. Here is an explanation from Parallels and a nice article with an older version but still relative.

Setup Assistant and Migration Assistant do not restore MS Windows, it only does the OS X partition. All of your Windows stuff must be backed up and restore using a MS Windows application. If no one on this forum is able to answer your question then I'd repost it on a Parallels forum to see how other Windows users approach this.

if so - use Finder-Get Info on one to change the 'open with' to Safari & choose 'change all'

  • I have an iMac which I had loaded Parallels and Windows 7.  I recently uninstalled both programs. How can I delete all related files?  Is there a program that will find related files and delete them?

I have an iMac on which I had installed Parallels and Windows 7 so I could some of the creativity software I was used to. I recently uninstalled both Parallels and Windows. How can I clean up my hard drive by making sure stray files from those programs have all been deleted?

If you followed these steps to uninstall Parallels (you simply drag Parallels to the Trash), that's all. Parallels is a quite clean application that does not create a lot of files in different folders.
However, you may still have the virtual machines you created in Documents folder. If you want to remove them, open a Finder window, select Documents in the sidebar and remove the Parallels folder

  • Is Paragon's "HFS+  for Windows" safe to use in Boot Camp Windows &/or Parallel 8 Windows?

Is Paragon's "HFS+ for WIndows" safe to use for read+write access to HFS+ drives when running Windows [8] via Boot Camp?
Drivers that came with Apple Boot Camp (or maybe Parallels [8]) enable "read-only" access to HFS+ formatted drives from Boot Camped Windows, but I want to be able to write to the drives, too.  I'm worrying about whether something in those Apple (or Parallels) drivers for Windows that makes that possible might also conflict with other software like "HFS+ for Windows," maybe even make a risk of corrupting the HFS+ disk (either external or even the OS X boot partition) so badly that everything on it becomes lost.
So I'm looking for people's experiences with using "HFS+ for Windows" with Parallels Desktop [8] for Mac.  Is it safe?
    Thanks.

Thanks, Templeton.  Yes, within OS X using Parallels 8 the integration with the Windows Parallels virtual machine is great.  But once I leave the OS X / Parallels environment the folder sharing access disappears.  So when I Boot Camp to Windows I have no visibility into the OS X partition nor any external HFS+ drives.  (Except for a few specific activities that can only be done in OS X or are best in OS X, I spend almost all my time in Windows, so I usually wouldn't run OS X or Parallels to Windows.)
Thanks GeekBoy.  Paragon HFS sounds risky with Parallels.  I'll be eager for more feedback about risks of using that combo from whomever can offer it.

  • Bootcamp or Parallels for Windows 7

I would like to know, which option is better for installing Windows 7 on iMac ( 500 GB, 4 GB RAM)
    1. Bootcamp
    2. Parallels
Is there any difference in performance, when Windows 7 is running in both the environments. Mostly I would be using Windows 7 for connecting to my office workstation, surfing Internet and occasionally playing online games. What would be the recommended disk space for bootcamp to install Wondows 7.
Do Apple provide support for Windows hardware drivers?

Open Boot Camp Assistant in your Utilities folder and click on the large Print Documentation button. Read it carefully.
You can find out about Parallels at their website.
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
    1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
    2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
    3. VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
    4. CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
    5. VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.
