Parallels, Windows Corporate Network and Passwords

Hi there,
I am one of about 15 people in my company that use our MBP on a windows corporate network. The LAN is secured by username and passwords. We are forced to change our passwords every 3 months or so.
I use mainly my Mac to run most applications. However, there are some applications that run only on Windows and for those, I use Parallels on my Mac to run Windows and connect to those applications.
Since changing my corporate password I am continually being locked out of my corporate account. There might be something somewhere in Parallels or in Windows that is storing my old password and sending that across the network. Then the network locks my account.
If I never boot up Windows, I can run just fine on my Mac with my current password. But as soon as I boot up Windows via Parallels, I get locked out.
Any ideas on where the old password is stored. I've looked through all my keychains on my Mac and all places I could think of on Windows. Or could it be Parallels storing it?
Trouble is, I'm not very familiar with Windows. Need some guidance here.
Thanks,
Angie

I had a similar issue with SMB Manager (to connect SMB shares automatically once I log in to the Mac Pro). After looking around I guess I realized everything on the Mac uses the Keychain and once I opened it and got rid of the stored credentials there, all started working fine again. Parallels may store credentials there as well. I would recommend taking a look there.
For the Windows side, you do not mention if the VMs running on parallels are part of a domain or not. If they are, there should be no issue otherwise you will need to change your password on the VMs to match the domain/AD account password (assuming they have the same username).

  • Windows Login Name and Password

    Hi,
I am developing an application, which requires the windows login name for greeting and password for validating and granting privileges.
Could someone please give me the pseudo code for getting the windows login name and password.
    Thanks,
    Mitra.

I'll try to validate some other parameter instead of
password. The password will be stored but it will be
encrypted.Bad Thing (TM). Never store passwords.
When we are able to get the UserName using
JavaScript, why can't we get it using Java.I told you how to get it. And what does Javascript have to do with anything? Just because you can drive through a very narrow alley with your bicycle, you should be able to do the same with a truck? Javascript and Java are not related in any way.

  • "Use my Microsoft Windows user ID and password" is grayed out

    Hello Experts,
I've disabled "SOX Auditing" option in Server Manager in BPC 5.1 SP03, but "Use my Microsoft Windows user ID and password" is still grayed out. The only option I unlocked is saving password.
How do I enable Windows Authentication in BPC?
    Thanks in advance,
    Akim

Enabling/Disabling SOX Compliance does not take effect until the 2nd time you go through the Connection Wizard.
Your problem could also be within Internet Explorer.
    Go to:
    1.  Internet Explorer>Tools>Internet Options>Security Tab
    2.  Click on Local Intranet zone>Custom Level
    3.  Scroll down to User Authentication>Logon.  Ensure that Automatic Logon with Current UN and PW is checked.
    4.  Do the same for the Internet zone.
    Try on multiple machines.
Also on the client machine, look at the value for BASICAUTHENTICATION in:
    hkeycurrentuser>software>vb and vba program settings>outlooksoft 5>latest

Password: doubt it (and if you could, I'd buy a new system).
It also runs against the grain of Java, which is that it is platform-independant.

  • Apple Mail on Macbook via windows domain network and microsoft TMG

    Hi folks.
We run a windows network with server 2008 tmg, dcs, and exchange 2007.
We have a few mac clients on our internal network. They log on locally but have all the correct network settings etc for proxy, network and internet access. Everything works fine through TMG including apple mail to our exchange server, and web browsing etc.
The one thing that isn't working is apple mail to other mail providers. Specifically Gmail.
I've created an access rule for testing purposes to allow all outbound traffic from a macbook pro. It still doesn't work, with the following being the only error:
    Denied Connection RHSTMG 21/05/2010 10:27:07
    Log type: Firewall service
Status: An ingoing packet was dropped because its destination address does not exist on the system, and no appropriate forwarding interface exists.
Rule: None - see Result Code
    Source: Internal (10.1.0.81:5353)
    Destination: External (224.0.0.251:5353)
    Protocol: Unidentified IP Traffic (UDP:5353)
    Additional information
•Number of bytes sent: 0 Number of bytes received: 0
    •Processing time: 0ms Original Client IP: 10.1.0.81
Someone on another (microsoft) forum said this:
224.0.0.251:5353 is RendezVous protocol, which is used by Mac OS for locating services. it is multicast protocol and it's only purpose is locating things.most it has nothing to do with Google Mail.
The mac has entirely unrestricted access to everywhere (in theory).
Gmail account through windows 7 client using outlook is fine by the way.
Nothing else is denied or refused when looking at the live logging.
Any help with this would be great.
    Thanks
    Dave

I had this problem too, but I found a post burried on the web that said to add " p06- "  (without quotes) before the imap and smpt server names and that worked:
    p06-imap.mail.me.com
    p06-smtp.mail.me.com
Everything stays checked, SSL for both, authentication and use same username and password checked.

  • Printing to a Windows shared printer, keep getting "Hold for Authentication" when I'm on the Windows shared network and can browse the computers.

I have had two MacBook Pros now, and this has been an issue in Mountain Lion and Mavericks. I've got a shared printer on the local Windows network (it's a USB printer shared via the network and the computer), and the other Windows computers in the house can print to it no problem. The Mac sees it no problem, yet whenever I try to print to it, I just get "Hold for Authentication."
Like I said, persists over Mountain Lion and Mavericks. No other computer in the house has any issues printing to it. I've installed the drivers for the printer as well (Brother HL-2240).
I've tried to follow the instructions here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/23268762#23268762 but the printer isn't listed in Keychain Access.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance!

Well, that isn't too useful. Try this instead: Adding a printer shared by a Windows computer via SMB/CIFS.

  • How can i get my ipod touch5 to remember the network and password

My ipot touch 5's will not automatically joing to network. I have to manually put in the in encryption kep every single time. It is programmed to ask to join networks and sees ours, but doesnt joing with password automatically. Help>

On the iPod, create an On-The-Go Playlist.
Navigate to the first Playlist you want to use; press-and-hold the Select (centre) button until the Playlist name flashes. This puts that playlist into the On-The-Go Playlist, which is located at the bottom of the Playlist menu.
Now navigate to the second Playlist you want; press-and-hold the Select button until the Playlist name flashes. This has added the second Playlist to the On-The-Go Playlist.
Repeat for each Playlist you want to add.
Once you have added all the Playlists you want, scroll down to the end of the Playlist to On-The-Go list. If you go into the On-The-Go list, you will see all the songs form your other Playlists, in Playlist order. Simply scroll to the first song and press the Select or Play to start the first song playing.
By the way, there was no missing manual. No manual was supplied.

  • TS3147 connect OS X 10.9.2 macbook air to windows 7 network and share printer (Brother HL-2230) connected via USB to the same network

Would like to share printer Brother HL-2230 on windows 7 network.  Using Windows 7  "Homegroup" is not an option.
The printer (HL-2230) is connected via USB to win 7 computer.  Before I updated OS to 10.9.2  it (Macbook air) had  HL-2230 as one of its' priinters and was able to print.  Now a print request hangs on "Hold for authentication".
I have already reset printer system and re-installed printer x2 - no luck.
I have already connected WiFi Epson XP-200 to the Macbook air - runs fine, no problem.
thx for any help that can lead to the resolution of this problem.

  • Needing to rename my wifi network and password using Panther

My computer just broke down, and a friend gave me their old macbook. Because they did not have their installation cd, there's a limited amount of things I can do to reset the system using my information, but I at least want to reset my wifi network name and password. I'm not incredibly tech-savvy, so I was hoping to have help with this! My friend never upgraded from Panther (**** them!), so I'm having trouble finding information on this elsewhere. Please help!

Resetting a wifi network name and password requires you to change those settings on the wireless router itself. The OS the computer is running makes no difference.

  • Windows 7 software, and password problems

A friend got a new computer (old had had 30 gb drive, 256 mb Ram, and viruses).  So I helped hime pick up a new laptop (Windows 7 home premium), etc, and am helping him get everything set up.  He has a Linksys wireless router wrt54g V8.  He was able to connect immediately to the network as there was no security on it (it said unsecured)...his neighbors had secured networks, he did not.  I said that this needed to be fixed.  He had the origional cd (bought 11\07), so I tried to install the software on Windows 7.  It would not install (wrong operating system\whatever).  In my very limited knowldge of routers (set up mine a few years ago), I remembered that there was an ipaddress 192.168.1.1 where some things could be changed.  We did get to the wireless tab, and there was a 'reset' button on it.  I thought that this would be where we would be able to change it from unsecured to secured...apparently I was wrong.  By clicking that button, his network disappeared from the list of networks.  There is a new linksys... network in the list now.  Anyway, I got him going again hard wired to the comcast router.  How to correct this situation, I have a number of questions?  Does this router work on windows 7, and where is the software to download and how to execute it (I did find a .bin file on line, but have no idea of how to execute it,  if everything I need is in it, and if it is applicable to windows 7).  OK, if I do not need to install anything on the new system, how do I recreate the wireless connection to the wireless router with a secured connection?  How do I create a new network (or recover the old one) and secure it without software, and some kind of password (which he does not know)?  Thanks.

What is the Model no of the Router...?
As you pressed the reset button on the router..You need to configure the router from scratch. And the router does works on Windows7.
As your ISP is Cable, follow the steps given here to configure the router.
