Parallels wont work after leopard install

I recently installed the Leopard update. I have been running parallels on my mac but ever since I installed the upgrade I cannot get my windows xp to work. I can switch over but when I open it none of the windows programs will open. HELP!!!

I had this same problem. Parallels wouldn't boot, instead it bounced and then gave me an error message. Yesterday, I tried to go to Parallels support but it was broken. Today, I just opened up Parallels and it worked. Go figure. I have build 4128 from 9 June 2007. Parallels support is saying they are in the process of integrating their centers.
For an explanation of upgrading to build 5584 go to:

Have fun and try not to spend too much time using that Windows junk.

  • Eject button wont work after leopard install

Once i installed leopard my eject button stopped working on my G5. I have to restart the computer for it to work. Is there anyway to get it to work without having to restart it every time? Should i reinstall Leopard because im missing iphoto and a couple other programs since the first install so i dont know if im missing more?

just a thought .... Leopard uses the "soft" eject feature which requires you to hold down the eject for a second before the tray will open. Helps when you accidentally hit it.
i-Life, i.e., iPhoto,iWeb,iMovie, Garageband, doesn't come with Leopard, you now have to purchase these separate. Unless you buy an Apple computer.
    Hope this helps

  • Canon MP 600 Printer not working after Leopard Install

I installed the Leopard OS and now my Canon MP 600 printer that purchased at the MAC store with my Mac in Aug of this year. It was working properly prior to the Leopard install. I tried re-installing the printer drivers, but no change. I can see my MP 600 as the only printer available. I am also unable to even print a 'test' page. When I run the Network Diagnostics everything is fine, but no printing.
    Any suggestions?

I tried this. I also tried updating the CUPS config file as was noted elsewhere. The printer is a total no-show on Leopard.
It is being served by an older G4 whose only job is to serve the printer.
On Tiger it would just *be there* to print to. All the Panther computers see it as a "shared printer" in the printer box.
In Leopard.... not a &^^&% thing.
    Not happy.

Are you using a gimp driver? I had the same issue and gimp was the cause. I went to the Canon website and found the driver I needed. After the install and restart all was well. In fact, when I opened Print Utility, I saw that the system had already defaulted to the new Canon driver. Here's the Canon link...

  • ISight Camera not working after Leopard install

On my 1st gen Intel 20" iMac, after the Leopard upgrade -- which went very smoothly -- my iSight camera no longer works. I have tried it in Photo Booth and iChat Video and it is the same in each, so it is the camera, apparently, not the application using it.
In the self-viewing screen on my iMac, I see myself for just a second or so, then I fade out quickly and there is nothing to see but black. If I shine a desk lamp in my face, then I can just barely see the outline of my image but the picture is mostly black. It seems like an exposure problem: the camera seems to adjust, shutting down as though I am very brightly lit but since I am not, it produces only a black picture.
I also have a 1st gen Intel white MacBook that I have also upgraded to Leopard. The iSight camera seems to work just fine on that computer. I tried out the video in Photo Booth and it worked great.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
I too am having the same problem, and I'm using the old school iSight camera and immediately after installing Leopard, it won't work. I can't even power up the camera. It will power up for about 3 seconds then power down as fast as the little green light came on. It was fine about an hour before the 10.5 install. I powered down and unplugged everything for about 10 mins. then plugged it all back in, and still not working. So I am back to the drawing board trying to sort this out. If anyone has anymore thoughts on this, pls. chime in. All the suggestions seem to work for you folks after a little tweak. I even booted into OF mode and reset-nvram and reset-all for kicks to give it an even fresher start.
    thanks!

  • Photo Booth not working after Leopard install

I have a mac mini and a ViewSonic VX2235wmb (LCD with a usb web cam built in). Before installing Leopard, the web cam worked with iChat and Photo Booth, without the need for any additional drivers. After installing Leopard, iChat works, but not Photo Booth. Here's what I get when I open the app:
    http://www.davidsilva.net/photobooth.png
I've tried the 3rd party driver apps, but I get the same results. Any suggestions?

I have the exact same problem with the ViewSonic VX2255wmb (LCD with a usb web cam built in).
On Leopard it works fine with iChat, but does the same squiggly mess as your snapshot when run with Photo Booth.

  • Airport disk just stopped working after Leopard install

My airport disk worked perfectly in Tiger. After installing Leopard i can see airport disks in the finder but when i try to see contents the system hangs up for a few seconds and then i get a message "can't connect to disk" or something similar. I tried reinstalling airport software from cd, upgrading firmware of airport extreme, deleting keys from keychain but still don't work. Any experience?
    Thanks

    Hi,
This could be related to an authentication issue, could you try to change the authentication of the disk to "With a disk password" or "With base station password" on the disk pane of the airport utility (into the file sharing tab)?

  • AirPort doesn't work after Leopard install

I have an iMac 20" 2GHz Core 2 Duo and my AirPort doesn't work. I reset my PRAM, erased the hard drive and installed a clean copy of Leopard after picking it up from the Retail store. I had exactly the same problem with 9A559 and the seed update and I ASSUMED it would be fixed by the time the final release is out. It doesn't detect any networks, even if i move the access point very close to the computer. I tried disabling all security on the access point. Tried changing channels. Tried resetting the access point to defaults and reconfiguring from scratch. Tried manually putting the SSID in on the iMac but none of it worked. The access point is a Linksys WAG54G with the latest firmware. If anyone can help me, please do because the AirPort is the ONLY way this computer can access the internet.

    Just to clarify my situation:
    Erase and install of Leopard
    Airport card is detected:
Wireless Card Type: AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x89)
    Wireless Card Locale: Worldwide
Wireless Card Firmware Version: Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (4.170.25.10)
Current Wireless Network: wireless network not available
No networks are available for selection, (i can normally see 4 or 5)
    System.log has:
    Oct 27 00:07:04 my-names-imac SystemUIServer95: Error: Apple80211Scan() error 16

I'm about two feet from my wireless router, none of the other (Tiger) computers have issues connecting to it.
Anyone else see the Apple80211Scan entries?

  • Boot keys stopped working after Leopard install

I have seen others having this problem in another thread but no answers, so thought I'd give it a go.
After reading these threads finally got Leopard to install and run okay. Many thanks all. But, along the way, my boot keys stopped working. It doesn't matter what I hold down, whether 'c' or 'cmd-opt-p-r' or 'shift' or any other key combination the machine just boots straight into Leopard.
I have tried resetting the PMU (or whatever it is these days) via the internal button in desperation but still no luck.
    Anyone with any ideas?

Same problem here, so I'll pull this post up. No key works.
I always have to go to the Start Drive (or whatever it's called in english) in Preferences Panes and choose the partition I wish to start directly in OSX or Windows for booting back to OSX. This is very annoying. Alt key won't show up any possible boot disk although their both internal drives.
If someone would kindly post any ideas how to change that, would be great. I've done a fresh install, with a Time Machine recovery, but this didn't seem to help.
    EDIT:
I found another subjet here from november '07:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1224639
it seems the new Apple Keyboard is the origin of the Problem on iMac Core Duo. Apple techs said that a new firmeware should be coming before the end of 2007 (but it's february 2008 now ?!?). Any other ideas how to get this work ? I'll write on Aplpe feedback page for sure. Maybe the other boot keys aren't working because of this keyboard too.

  • Macbook Pro Audio line in stopped working after Leopard install

Anyone know what's up with this? Since I installed Leopard (did an erase and install) my audio line in port isn't working although my built-in microphone is. Ideas? I haven't found a solution so far from my searches.

I also have this problem but with a slightly different twist..
I was using my plantronics (old ms gamevoice headset) with 10.5.2 and it worked, then installed the m-Audio Firewire Audiophile beta drivers and neither the audio-in or the m-audio audiophile line-in cause any VU-meter response (nor input) whereas the standard inbuilt microphone does.
After uninstalling the m-audio drivers the situation is still the same.
Oddly - if I plug in the headphones into the line-in (rather than microphone) then speak into them I actually get input audio (and VU-meter response) through the MBP's audio-in.
So the story about no power is used (hence the headphones create enough to register the sound) sounds about true... very annoying as I thought my old headset had died and went out and bought a new one.. that still doesn't explain the audiophile input issues..
Now I fully expect both companies to point fingers at each other.. I don't care - just get it fixed please.

  • VNC no longer working after Leopard install

I have been running Vine Server on my machine for several months now without a hiccup, and I've really gotten used to being able to access my home machine from work. However, after upgrading to Leopard last weekend, my remote access no longer works. The Vine Server application appears to be running just fine, but when I try to access the VPN from work (using TightVNC - same as I've always done) it just hunts for a few minutes and then tells me it can't find the network.
I haven't changed any settings on either the router or the Mac. Any idea what's going on here? How can I get my remote access back?

Screen sharing is broken for me as well, trying to access a mac mini server (was snow leopard - is now Lion) from an iMac using the Lion server admin tools. It says "Connecting to "192.168.1.7"" but never connects.
SSH connects though so perhaps you can wrestle control of the server using the terminal.
I can't use the machine locally, the keyboard and mouse are unresponsive and there is no hdmi output to the Sony Bravia that its connected to.
I'm pretty close to doing a full re-install but I need to track down some urls posted on one of the blogs that the server was running first.

  • Garageband no longer works, after Leopard install

Anyone else have this problem? I installed Leopard. Of course, supposed to be THE up-to-date thing, now Garageband won't let me do a thing. It opens, but not before stating "possible conflict with 3rd party MIDI drivers" ...No idea. That error box will keep popping up, so that I cannot do a THING. I could care less for Midi, just want to record. Any help on what the deal is with Leopard and Garageband?

I was annoyed by the same problems.
But All you want is on the Mac OSX install disc 2.
I think that you may choose the install option from DVD.
Direct internet up-grade option didn't work.

  • IMac LCD not working after Leopard install

So I have a family pack and installed leopard on three computers so far and they all took forever, so I went to install on my iMac G4 1.25, 1 gig RAM, and I got the install started and when I returned the screen was black. I restarted and nothing. I finally got the computer hooked up to a plasma I have at my house and sure enough the install went just fine. Long story short, my comp is just fine, the LCD just doesn't show anything. The vid card is fine if it shows up on an external monitor, the LCD is connected and functioning because I can adjust the brightness and that still works, just no video
I called AppleCare and was on the phone for, no joke, 1:37:39, WOW, took forever, the guy ended up telling me that it is out of warranty and I need to pay to have it fixed. Anyone have any ideas or what to do?

Anyone have this similar problem? or know what I need to do?

  • HP Photosmart 8450 (8400 series) stops working after Leopard Install

I upgraded my MAC Pro and iMac to Leopard and now my HP Photosmart 8450 printer will not work with either one. As other people have pointed out, the driver is built into Leopard, so not clear how to fix this or if there's a patch...any thoughts? Forget about HP support, they want to charge a fortune for telephone support. - Alec

How won't it work? Are you able to add the printer? Have you taken any troubleshooting steps, such as resetting the print system and then re-adding the printer. Were the HP Leopard drivers installed when you upgraded?

  • Sound doesn't work after Leopard install

I installed Leopard last night, on my G4 Mirror-door, which is a twin 1.25GB with 4Gb RAM. Now, I am unable to get sound out of my subwoofer (the transparent USB that came with my Cube) or my speakers (Bose with RCA plug).
I was trying to listen to a podcast, and initially I got normal sound, then it became intermittent, then it stopped. The System Preferences look normal, and the volume is definitely turned up in iTunes, the menu bar, and on the speakers.
It looked a little like the problem might be iTunes, since neither podcasts nor music shows any activity in the progress bar. However, Real Player doesn't make sound, either.
I have never had this problem with 10.4.
    What gives?

  • CD Drive wont work after itunes install-DESPARATE stuck with daughter music

    Hi
My Packard Bell Imedia PC is 8 months old.
Two weeks ago CD drive working fine...then I downloaded itunes & ipod video now neither my pc, itunes or windows media recognises that there is a disk in the drive.
There are no yellow flags, I have tried the regedit fix, I have downloaded the pxengine update and even uninstalled and done a system restore back to a checkpoint in March.
Does anyone have any other solutions please as I am getting pretty desparate as after having waited a year for my ipod (choose DS Lite as my novelty last year)I am stuck with Kitty and Korn....
    Any help gratefully received
    Deb
ps (yes it is still in warranty but I have lost the receipt and PC world can only send it out by post and that will take another week!!!)

okay, then you don't have the more common issue with Packard Bells and CD drives.
let's quickly check on a rarer issue (rarer nowadays, at least):
iTunes for Windows: Audio CDs not recognized on some Packard Bell computers
