Parameter field error

1.  I am using the Crystal Reports XI IDE and I have created a report with a subreport that reads an Access database.  I have added a record selector from the Selector Expert for a Survey Number.  When I  hard code a number into the expert and run the report it works fine.  When I want to use a parameter field {?Survey Number} that is where my problems start.  The dialog box doesn't look right as soon as it opens, instead of the OK and Cancel buttons I get:     XOKX   XCancelX.  Then as soon as I enter a character in the text box I get this error:  "A Runtime Error has occurred.  Do you wish to debug?    Line: 30   Error: Object expected

  • Getting Error with date parameter field -"Invalid DATE"

    Hi
    I created a report with 9.2 version. And  i created 2 date parameter fields in it. And within crystal reports it works fine.
    But If, I call from the VS2005 crystalreport.net(report document) SDK , i am getting error as Invalid Date" enter a Date Value". Actually it is a dtp control. how can i modify it.

    <p>There&#39;s not enough details to get a good understanding of your scenario, but it sounds like you&#39;re using some kind of date control to retrieve the date value and pass it to the report&#39;s parameter field at runtime. </p><p>If this is correct, it sounds like the format of the date value from the control may not be what the report is expecting. To debug, I would first use hardcoded values when you set the report parameter fields to see what works. Then compare that to what the return value is from the control to see if they match. I suspect the formats differ. </p><p>I did a quick search on the BOBJ kbase and found a couple of articles that may help you. • Using parameter fields gives an error in InfoView asking for prompting1.htm

    Hi,
    We have a number of Crystal Reports available to staff online via InfoView. The majority of these reports work fine. However, where the report uses a parameter field and allows the user to select certain criteria an error box appears looking for a html page called prompting1. It is looking for the html page in the CrystalReportViewer folder within the Temp folder. Having looked in the folder there is no such html page. I have created a blank prompting1.html but then the when the report is refreshed, it prompts for prompting2.html. When run using the client software the report runs as it should with no error message.Has anyone else come accross a similar problem?
    Thanks in advance

  • Pass the results from a selection formula to the default values for a parameter field

    Crystal 10 u2013 SQL 2000
    I want to create a parameter field that will display all of our IT Departments so the end user can select the one they want to run the report against, such as IT-Security, IT-Network, etc. about 40 in all.  BUT I donu2019t want this to be a static list where I type in all 40 depts in the default list, I was hoping I could do something more dynamic such a formula field that says u201C if {group.name startswith u2018ITu2019 then {group.name}u201D and then have the parameter field pull from this source.
    Iu2019m sure this has been answered in a previous post but Iu2019m not finding it.  I see stuff on creating a record selection formula such as u2018if {?group} like u2018IT-Secur*u2019 thenu2026u201D  but this leaves too much room for error if people donu2019t type the name correctly.  Maybe Iu2019m not using the record selection formula correctly?  Sorry if I offend anyone but I just upgraded from 8 to 10 and thought for sure this option would be in 10, perhaps built right into the parameter default value page where you can place in select criteria but NOTHING has changed.

    if you are creating the parameters in the rpt file, it will only pull values you enter, or directly from the database
    in the record selection you can do something like this, so if they only enter the first 2 characters it should pick up only the IT etc.
    (if eft(,2)={?parameter} then true else ={?parameter})

  • Passing a value to a Parameter Field From a VB Form

    Hello everyone
    I'm using Visual Basic 6.0 and Crystal Report 9.0
    I built a report using Crystal Report and named it Player_Statement.rpt. I then included it to my VB project and named it Player_Statement.Dsr
    In this report I have a Parameter Field called P_Player_ID which I'm using in Record Selection Formula.
    I'm using the following code to pass a value to the parameter:
    Dim Report As CRAXDRT.ReportSet Report = New Player_StatementReport.ParameterFields.GetItemByName("P_Player_ID").AddCurrentValue CLng(cmbPlayerNB.BoundText)
    When I execute the application I get the error message "The value or range you are adding has already existed" at the last line of code (Where I'm assigning the parameter a value)
    Could anybody help me please

  • Get the parameter fields defined in crystal report

    I am porting my application from crystal 8.5 written in C++ to crystal 2008 in .net.
    Here I am not making use of crystal report viewer neither I am creating .rpt in .net code.
    I have a set of already created .rpt files.
    I have written a function in .net to export the crystal report.
    Its a generic function and will be called for multiple crystal reports.
    I am passing the parameter values to the report by making use of the following function :
         ReportDocument repDoc;
         repDoc.SetParameterValue(APPTYPE, strNextToken[0]);
         repDoc.SetParameterValue(COMPORROLETYPE, strNextToken[1]);
    Similarly I are setting other parameter values.
    The problem here is that, all the reports do not have parameter fields defined that I am trying to set.
    They may be present for one report and absent for another. In this case , if the report does not have a particular parameter
    field, then it gives error on setting parameters and subsequently fails.
    Now I want to find out through code what all parameter fields are defined in the report. Then I will only set those
    parameter fields?
    Please guide how can this be done.
    Thanks
    Sonam

    Not as trivial as you might think. You will have to loop through all the sections of the report looking for the objects you need. I don't have a code specific to parameters, but looping through al the sections would be something like the code below. But... this will only show you parameters in a section. It will not show you parameters used in a formula, record selection formula, group selection formula, text field or a conditional formula. In order to get those parameters, you's have to parse out each of those objects looking for parameters. And this is probably not an exhaustive list of places to look for a parameter in the report.  I get a headache just thinking about this...
    Dim crSections As Sections
    Dim crSection As Section
    Dim crSubreportObject As SubreportObject
    'set the crSections object to the current report's sections
    crSections = crReportDocument.ReportDefinition.Sections
    'loop through all the sections to find all the report objects
    For Each crSection In crSections
    crReportObjects = crSection.ReportObjects
    'loop through all the report objects to find all the subreports
    For Each crReportObject In crReportObjects
    If crReportObject.Kind = ReportObjectKind.SubreportObject Then
    'you will need to typecast the reportobject to a subreport
    'object once you find it (***you'd go to setting the parameter here - or not...)
    crSubreportObject = CType(crReportObject, SubreportObject)
    'open the subreport object
    crSubreportDocument = crSubreportObject.OpenSubreport(crSubreportObject.SubreportName)
    'set the database and tables objects to work with the subreport

  • Missing Parameter values - Error

    Post Author: Shayari
    CA Forum: .NET
    Hello,
    There is a main report,from which we pass the parameters to the subreport.The subreports parameters are the stored procedure's input parameters which are created when the SP is included as the datasource.When we integrate the master .rpt file with the C# application it throws a error saying "Missing parameter values" at the exporting line in the code. .We also get an error when we try to 'Verify database' for the subreports in the CRXI UI. The errror states "Prompting failed with the following error message Error source: Error code 0*8000FFF". This error occurs when in "Change the Subreport links" we update the "Subreport parameter fields to use" to match with the input parameters of the subreport's SP.
    We are using Crystal reports XI with Visual Studio 2005.
    Any help is much appreciated.Thank you.
    Regards,
    Shayari

    2 Things:
    1) CRXI is not compatible with VS2005. You need to upgrade to CRXIR2.
    2) You need to pass the parameters to the report before exporting the report, as Crystal need to get the report data and then exports it. It will not prompt for parameters as we are not viewing it.
    But before all this you need to make sure that you can view the report in Designer properly. Because once the report works fine in designer we can concentrate on the sdks and its working.
    Hope it helps !

  • How to make Parameter field not mandatory while running CFL through SAP B1

    Hi Experts.......
    I have a small doubt if anybody can help me.......
    I have created a simple report for testing purpose by taking table OITM and it is diplayng CFL symbol in B1 scressn when I import. Upto this it is working fine and showing correct input.
    Now I made some changes according to my logic is that When I select any value in condition parameter say any Item Group it shows me output for that particular ItemGroup. And when I select nothing in Parameter then it is displaying all data from all the group and this si what I want. But when I import the same CR in SAP and running same report it is not allwoing me to paas Null value so that I can get all the data as output.
    This is giving right result if I dirctly run CR by refreshinh Parameter but same thing I run from SAP and put the parameter field blank it is giving me error that Parameter (ItemGroup) is mandatory
    Can anybody assist me how to solve this?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Rahul Moundekar

    Hi
    I had the same issue.  As noted by Julie SAP published a workaround.
    See my original thread post below.  Go straight to the last entry.
    Crystal in B1 8.8 - optional parameters not working
    The problem is that when called from B1 the hasvalue command always returns true, hence the checking for nulls and spaces etc. as well.
    You keep the parameter definition as Optional.
    This works find for character fields, both single select and ranges, and I have gotten around it for numerics etc by using a SQL formula to cast these to character fields in the data being queried.
    I have yet to be motivated enough to see how to code around this for multi valued fields.
    Hope this helps.

  • Parameter field usage with an ACT! database

    Hello,
    I have tried using the parameter field functionality in Crystal Reports 2008 with an ACT! database, but it doesn't work. I have used parameter fields with other databases and did not have this problem, so I don't know why it's not working, unless this functionality is not supported with an ACT! database. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Edited by: training 2go on Dec 14, 2009 12:57 PM

    I ran the report and let it sit for at least 10 minutes, but it did not retrieve any records or produce an error message.
    The table has 200 records and should only retrieve 26 records.
    I'm not sure that I understand your question about whether or not the record selection is being pushed to the database.
    The ACT database is on my laptop and so is Crystal Reports. If you tell me what to check, I will gladly do so.
    Is there a list of known issues with Crystal when using an ACT! database? I ask because there is other Crystal functionality that does not work with an ACT! database.
    Thank you.

  • QE parameter field ''{0}'' could not be found.

    Hi,
    We are running crystal report from our web application using
    JRC API. For performances concerns, we decided to use a
    Stored Procedure, but we can not make it run from the web
    appilcation, because we are getting this error:
    The QE parameter field '''' could not be
    found.
    All the parameters are teh same thna when we were using
    connection to normal tables, so we know that the parameters
    values are populated just fine in the reportSource passed to
    the reportPageViewer.  (I double check in debug mode, and
    I'm sure the value are populated).
    I know also that there is no issue with the connection,
    because when we tested a dummy report, which ddin't use
    any parameters but were using a stored procedure, I could
    get the results in my application.
    Any idea, why this is not working ? Also, I can not figure
    out what the error message mean.Any idea, help will be really appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    I did try to hard code the parameters values, and it still didn't work. However, I did get a little bit closer, I found out that it doesn't work only whne my stored procedure uses a temporary table.
    Any though, why the temporary table would cause this error ?
    Thanks

    Hi Dhamat,
    This  is Z FM and it has 4 parameters with it. These parameters were complex and deep structure. The detail info is below.
    CALL FUNCTION 'Z_RFC'

    Hi Alistair,
    I have a full access to SAP, so I can create and extend material whenever I want through MM01/MM02, but my target is to develop a method in Java, which creates a fully functional material to be used later in Sales Order.
    A code listed in my prevoius post shows most of my method. I've got to indicate that my method works correctly and creates material. I've checked it through MM03 - I mean my material created with my method exists.
    Moreover both sales org. and distr. channel are passed to BAPI, as you may see in the following code:
                    * SALESDATA
                   Structure salesData = input.getStructure("SALESDATA");
                   salesData.setValue("4000","SALES_ORG");
                   salesData.setValue("01","DISTR_CHAN");
                   salesData.setValue("NORM","ITEM_CAT");
                   salesData.setValue("4200","DELYG_PLNT");
    But the problem occurs when I wanna create Sales Order (VA01) and when I choose the item. Material created by my method causes error:
    "Material myMaterial is not defined for sales org. 4000, distr.chan. 01, language FI"
    I don't understand why? I'm not SAP specialist, but in my opinion I've passed necessary data.
    Do you any idea?
    Thanks in advance. Every helpful suggestion will be properly rewarded.
    BR,
    Rafal
