Parameter insight problem in Jdev 9032

I'm probably being dumb here, but here goes. I've got a load of core classes with overloaded methods which I wrap up in a JAR and use as a library on other projects.
Problem is when I make use of a method from the JAR in a new class, the parameter insight pops up in JDev, but only shows me the type of the parameter, not its name, e.g.:
methodName(String, String)
methodName(String, int, String)
methodName(String, int, HashMap, String)
I need to be able to see the parameter names as well. Do I need to add anything to the method defintions? I've tried putting in @param blocks, but it makes no difference.
Any ideas?

This is, I believe, a limitation of the way the insight item works. I'm guessing it's using the class reflection interface, which only returns the parameter types and not the names you have given them. The advantage is the method is fast, simple, and doesn't require source (the .class files don't keep the names, only the parameter types).

  • Underline and Code Insight Problem in JDev 10.1.2.0.0 (1811)

    I have just included the libraries to be able to use the MyFaces compnents in jdeveloper and everithing seemed to be working fine, until I imported a package in my case import org.apache.myfaces.custom.date.HtmlInputDate;
    The Jdev editor is underlining the line in blue telling me it cannot find the package if I declare a variable of the same type private HtmlInputDate dateFrom; I still get it underlined. funnily enough if I decide to compile it everything works fine. I'm having the same problem when using Log4J. After this happens codeinsight is not available for the underlined items.
    It seems as if the compiler can find the packages but the editor no. Am I missing something? anybody had the same problem?

    To tell you the truth I'm using a combination of 10.1.2 and 10.1.3 since the beta is still lacking the capability to handle BC4J. I'm waiting eagerly for the final release.
    As regards that document I followed the instructions to setup the 10.1.3 and followed the same guidelines to apply the same settings on 10.1.2 which has a different screen to setup the libraries. maybe I just missed out some jar files in the library setup in 10.1.2

    Could anyone please help? I have been using the last 5 hours to figure out what the difference is.
    Johnny

    Johnny,
    My guess is that the libraries used in your project for 9032 and 9033 have some differences.
    I tried 9032 (build 1185) and 9033 (build 1206), I find that I need to include sax.jar and xercesImpl.jar from jaxb 1.0 libraries. Without xercesImpl.jar I get the same error you get. My test case is a new Project with only jdom-b9\samples\SAXBuilderDemo.java
    Thanks,

  • Completion Insight Problem (V 1.1.1.25)

    It appears part of the Completion Insight problem was fixed. The current version will assist completion of the column name using a given schema.table. If you attempt to use it to complete the schema name it throws a nasty array index (-1) out of bounds exception. This all worked quite well a couple of versions back. Being a lousy typist, with an even lousier memory, I really need this feature.

    It is broken in 3.0 indeed. In 3.1
    select * from table(hr.<ctrl-space>
    returns list of tables, not packages. However, if you supply prefix, say
    select * from table(fun<ctrl-space>
    it prompts standalone table functions. For packaged functions it works as well
    select * from table(hr.package1.<ctrl-space>
    This inconsistency looks like a bug.

  • Problem with jdev and running projects

    I have been using jdev for about 3 months, and this is the first time I saw this problem.
    I opened jdev 9.0.2.829, and tried to run a project in a workspace. The run target is in this project, the source path is separate from the other projects, everything is as it should be and was the last time I ran this project. When I build the project, it only compiles source from this project. When I try to run it, or any other project in the workspace, it compiles all source in all the projects in the workspace, and will not continue because of compilation errors. The single project builds fine. I even tried running after building, since usually it will see that it has a good build, and skip that step. Is this a configuration issue that I inadvertantly overlooked?

  • Report 9i parameter form problem, is it a bug?

    Hi all,
    I am using Dev 9i IDS, rel. 9.0.2, running in windows 2000. I've been converting my forms and reports from previous versions to 9i, and I came across an issue with the report's parameter form.
    First, I thought it could be a problem during the conversion , but to make sure I developed a new form and a new report straight in the 9i IDS suite, using Scott's DEPT table. The new form is simple having a button to call the new report which is based on the DEPT table and accepts an user's input for a dept. no.
    The same problem occurs:
    - in the form, if I set PARAMFORM=HTML then it could not open the report parameter form, hence the report could not run.
    - if I set PARAMFORM=YES, then the report parameter form is displayed, then I can enter a value for the department number. BUT, when I clicked the Submit Query button the report failed, and I received the following error:
    REP-52007: Parameter form format error.

    I have no problem integrating others reports that don't have parameter form using run_report_object. And, I've checked and tried different ways of manipulating the parameter value using to_number in the report's where clause etc., it never worked.
    I guess the only workaround is to create the parameter form in Forms builder. Is there other ways of doing it , or is it a bug of the 9i IDS suites that needs to be fixed?
    - Thanks

    Hi Frank,
    There's a note published on Metalink, note 139546.1, showing a workaround to thi problem. but
    - it is rather lengthy and confusing, may not be practical .
    - it only applies to Forms and Reports 6i.
    However, it shows that the problem comes from 2 items in the source code of the parameter form which is produced by the RUN_REPORT_OBJECT built-in:
    1. <form method=post action=""> where action contains an empty string, it needs to have a valid entry, e.g.
    <form method=post action="http://hostname:port/cgi/rwci60.exe?">
    2. <input name="hidden_run_parameters" type=hidden value=""> where hidden value is also empty. It should contains all parameter values passed to the report parameter form, e.g.
    <input name="hidden_run_parameters" type=hidden value="report%3test+destype%3Dcache+userid%Dscott.....">
    And that is what I found, but I am reluctant to try it in 9i IDS, hoping Oracle has a better solution than that.
    Tho.

    You said that you are using version XI R2 SP2 (for BO Enterprise)  - do you have any FixPacks on this codeline? (FP2.x)
    Question: If YES to above, have you made use of the equivalent FixPack for Integration Kit?  (known as "Partners Fix Pack 2.x ")
    There are a few fixes in this area, I was thinking like:
    ADAPT00716808 -  When scheduling a report from SAP Business Information Warehouse (BW) that contains parameters from a hierarchy or a hierarchy node variable, the default values fail to be displayed from InfoView. >>
    ADAPT00894127 -  When users enter date parameters in the Calendar dialog box in SAP InfoView, the dates entered fail to appear in the corresponding field.
    Good luck,

  • XDK 9.0.2.0.C XSQL parameter visibility problem

    Dear Steven,
    I consider this as a serious bug:
    When one set XSQL page or XSQL session page parameter it
    become visible in page/request/session or otherwise only after
    the following round trip to the client.
    In other words, it is not present in the incoming XML to xslt to
    process.
    Thank you,
    David

    David,
    I just re-tested with 9.0.2C and things are working as they
    should. For example, the following XSQL page:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="test.xsl"?>
    <page xmlns:xsql="urn:oracle-xsql" connection="demo">
      <xsql:set-page-param name="page-param" value="1"/>
      <xsql:set-session-param name="sess-param" value="2"/>
      <xsql:set-stylesheet-param name="sheet-param" value="3"/>
      <xsql:include-param name="page-param"/>
      <xsql:include-param name="sess-param"/>
    </page>referencing the following stylesheet:
    <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0"
    xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
      <xsl:param name="sheet-param"/>
      <xsl:template match="/">
        <html><body>
        <b><xsl:value-of select="$sheet-param"/></b>
        <b><xsl:value-of select="/page/sess-param"/></b>
        <b><xsl:value-of select="/page/page-param"/></b>
        </body></html>
      </xsl:template>
    </xsl:stylesheet>shows an HTML page with the expected "321" the first request.
    If you are talking about cookies, then you are correct that the
    cookies you set this request are not visible until the next
    request (which is the standard way cookies work), however, you
    can use the new XSQL 9.0.2C feature to "see" the cookie value
    immediately by adding the immediate="yes"] attribute to
    your <xsql:set-cookie> action.
    If I've misunderstood your problem, please post a testcase that
    illustrates the issue. Thanks.

    Hi,
    according to certification matrix IE9 should be supported since 11.1.1.5.
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/index-091111.html#Browsers
    But anyhow, this may be a browser specific issue which needs to be reported to Oracle support.
    Have your tried to run your application with IE's compatibility view?
    I had similar problems with 11.1.1.4.0 (but in this version IE9 isn't officially supported)

  • Code insight problem when updating classes / jars

    I have a problem with JDeveloper 9.0.3.2 build 1145....
    I create a class with some methods and deploy it to a jar. I create another class in a different project and import the class from the original project. The code insight works fine. I now add a method to the original class and redeploy but the code insight in the second class know nothing about the new methods it until i restart JDeveloper!
    Frustrating, any ideas ?

    This has not been fixed in 9.0.5 actually, at least not the code insight
    aspects. I just checked that it still reproduces under the latest 9.0.5
    builds.
    Since the bug 3034796 was originally filed for Javadoc issues, I've split
    off the code insight issues (which you are hitting) into bug 3122056.
    Unfortunately, there is no workaround for this problem. I'm sorry for the
    inconvenience.

    reptname: server=servername report=reptname.rdf
    userid=user/pw@db_name destype=cache desformat=PDF paramform=YES
    When I submit the parameter form, no matter what set of values,
    I get this error:
    Oracle Reports Server CGI - Key "" is unrecognized. Possible
    causes: bad URL syntax; key in URL was not found in the key map
    file.
    Also, on some forms that should have drop-down list boxes, it's
    instead displaying a blank text field followed by a long string
    of values as plain text below it.

    hello,
    sounds like an issue we had in the early versions of 6i. i would suggest you upgrade to the latest patch.

  • Sql parameter substitution problems

    Hi,
    I am having problems with the sql parameter substitution. I have a query that
    looks like this:
    select name,value from table where name in ('name1','name2');
    I have tried building a string that equals "'name1','name2'" and passing it as
    a parameter to sql entering the javaDoc comments like:
    select name,value from table where name in ({nameString})
    The problem is that when it is substituted and set to the database it looks like
    this:
    select name,value from table where name in ('\'name1\',\'name2\'');
    This will not work. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this using a
    database control. Basically I'm looking for the ability to create dynamic sql
    statements.
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards,
    James

    Anurag,
    Thanks for the reply. I don't think that this solves my problem though. I will
    never know how many strings to pass. It's all based on what the user wants, they
    could ask for 2, 20, or any other number of names. It sounds like using a Database
    control is not really possible for this situation. What do you think? Any chance
    of this making into workshop in the future or in these situations is creating
    an EJB the only way to go?
    Thanks again.

    Hi James,
    This result is same as what you will get on executing the following prepared
    statement:
    conn.prepareStatement("select empid from empdemo where name in (?)");
    pstmt.setString(1,"'Person 1','Person 2','Person 3'");
    pstmt3.execute();
    Workshop's DBControl internally uses a PreparedStatement, hence you would
    obtain the same result.
    To get it working, you will need to pass in the 3 strings separately
    as
    below:
    conn.prepareStatement("select empid from empdemo where name in
    pstmt.setString(1,"Person 1");
    pstmt.setString(1,"Person 2");
    pstmt.setString(1,"Person 3");
    Please do let me know if you have further queries regarding the issue.

  • 2 problems with jDev 11.1.1.4.0

    Hi,
    I'm using JDev 11.1.1.4.0 and I'm developing a portal that consumes some portlets.
    I have 2 problems:
    1) The first one is shown when JDev starts:
    AM oracle.webcenter.portal.dt.config.PortalConfigUtil getPageTemplateFromConfig
    SEVERE:
    java.lang.NullPointerException
    +     at oracle.webcenter.portal.dt.config.PortalConfigUtil.getPageTemplateFromConfig(PortalConfigUtil.java:69)+
    +     at oracle.webcenter.portal.dt.config.PortalConfigUtil.getDefaultPageTemplate(PortalConfigUtil.java:55)+
    +     at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method)+
    +     at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:39)+
    2) The second one is about the automatic code that JDev generates when the portal calls the portlet. He generates some HTML (or ADF) code that alterates the HTML page tamplate that I have. It creates a class for the body tag and, doing this, my page can't show the background image.
    It puts the portlet code into a html talble's row, and above that row it creates a row with a border (1px). In this situation I have a blue line shown that I don't want and I don't need.
    Somebody could help me to fix these problems?
    Thanks in advance

    You can't, just open a new thread on the other forum.
    The problem might be a jdev problem, the reason I would post it on the other forum is that the portal version does things not well known here...
