Parameter out of range
Help!
I have been editing sequences on Avid Express and exporting the cuts as Quicktime Movies.
The quicktime file plays fine on my Mac. But my friend in NYC (PC) can't open the mov file all of a sudden.
Plan B was to export the mov as a wmf file as wee if she could open that. Now I get a scary error message from Quicktime:
Parameter out of range. An illegal setting has been detected.
I have no idea what this means.
Everything was working fine until yesterday. Maybe one of the automatic updates caused something. I am running Quicktime 7.1.6 and I have the Flip for Mac full version installed ( Vers 2.1.1.70)
I also tried to export wmf using Final Cut Pro. Same result.
Any clues as to what the **** happened?
Cheers
Tracy in London
It wouldn't explain why it suddenly stopped working, unless you had previously been using say MPEG-4 and are now using H264, and she hasn't updated to QuickTime 7?
In any case, you should use as high a quality codec as you can, and leave the file size reduction part to the stage where they convert it to Flash. If you have a way to get larger files to her, I would use the Animation codec, highest quality, and at a frame rate that matches whatever they use in Flash. That would be lossless in terms of quality, and will work even in QuickTime 1, let alone 7.
Email me direct if it might help for me to look at the file.

Hi,
My CFC component is defined as:
<cffunction name="updateNote" output="false" access="remote" returntype="void" >
<cfargument name="notedetails" required="true" type="string" >
<cfargument name="notename" required="true" type="string" />
<cfquery name="qupdateNote" datasource="notes_db">
UPDATE
notes
SET
notes.notedetails=<CFQUERYPARAM CFSQLTYPE="CF_SQL_VARCHAR" VALUE="#ARGUMENTS.notedetails#">,
WHERE
notename="<CFQUERYPARAM CFSQLTYPE="CF_SQL_VARCHAR" VALUE="#ARGUMENTS.notename#">"
</cfquery>
</cffunction>
In Flash builder when I test the operation I get this error:
"There was an error while invoking the operation. Check your server settings and try invoking the operation again.
Reason: Server error Unable to invoke CFC - Error Executing Database Query. Parameter index out of range (2 > number of parameters, which is 1)."
Im really quessing that this is something small but right now its causing me to pull my hair out of my head!! Argg. Tried a bunch of things but I know thik im stuck.
Help would be very very appreciated.
ThanksCreate test.cfm along these lines:
<cfset myObj = createObject("component", "dotted.path.to.cfc.file")>
<cfset myResult = myObj.myMethod(arg=value1, etc)>
<cfdump var="#myResult#">
Or, really, you could just browse to this:
http://your.domain/path/to/your.cfc?method=yourMethod&arg1=value1 [etc]
Although I dunno which of those two approachs will give you a better error message (indeed, it might be the same).
Try both.

"Parameter Index out of range" Error in the report
Hi..
I am geting this error when running the reports..
I am not sure what this means. Is this something related to BI Publisher report/configuration?
I tried exporting XML data and it gives me the same error..
JZ0SB: Parameter index out of range: 3.
Any ideas?ink86 wrote:
I have an sql String :
select * from queue Where dayofmonth IN ('?', '*') and month IN ('?', '*') and year IN ('?', '*')
This only works when I hard code the values in the sql:
select * from queue Where dayofmonth IN ('8', '*') and month IN ('10', '*') and year IN ('2007', '*')
Why is that?
MBecause you have quoted the question marks. Remove them. PreparedStatement takes care about them itself.
Also see the PreparedStatement tutorial: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/jdbc/basics/prepared.html
Using varchars for numbers instead of integers is also not a good practice. -
Xen Kernel randomly fails to load and goes out of range
Been having an on/off issue lately that requires a hard reset of my system. Essentially what happens is the system begins to load when my monitor reports an error that the signal is out of range. I try to pretend login and reboot, but it does not work. Instead, I am forced to simply reset the system and once reset it appears to boot OK without any issues. In fact I can go a few reboots before once again it decides to break. Below is what should be one of the logs from a failed boot, in fact, the system is in this same failed state right now as well.

G3 Monitor saying "out of range" after itunes upgrade - HELP PLEASE
I'm running a G3 with 512RAM. It has been running Panther totally reliably for a year. I upgraded to 10.3.9 and the G3 ran no problem. I upgraded to the latest Itunes, restarted the G3 and now after the tones the monitor turns black with the message "out of range" refering to the frequency setting. I can hear to G3 drive running but I cant progress beyond this message on the monitor. Please help...have I lost my G3 for ever? is there a safe mode I can start the G3 in? I have the Panther discs but I don't seem able to do anything to start this G3 now. Please help..I love this Mac, I dont want to loose it, don't mind loosing the data, but not the mac..any ideas..please
Refer to mac manual - Resetting the PRAM (parameter randon access memory).
Restart whilst holding Command/option/p/r keys and release after second tones. Suggest changing internal battery also. -
All -
I'm new to consuming web services in JDeveloper. I'm using Oracle JDEV 10.1.3.3/OC4J. I'm using this version since it is compatible with Oracle EBS 12.1.3. My intent is to pull data from our third party recruitment app (Success Factors) and load that data into Oracle HRIS. I'm already doing this through a .NET application. I'm converting it to be a Java Concurrent Program in EBS. The code listed below is a stub call to verify I'm on the right track. I created a JDeveloper Web Services proxy project. I'm testing it locally on my windows desktop. When I'm able to consume the service successfully, then I'll think about moving it to the EBS server.
I'm getting the following error when I invoke the following service:
HTTP transport error: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: java.security.PrivilegedActionException: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: Message send failed: String index out of range: -7
End point is: https://api4.successfactors.com/sfapi/v1/soap?wsdl
Any help/assistance would be much appreciated.
Below is my code and output of my test:

That might be because you are sending incorrect data and the other end fails to validate it.
You might be able to guess based on your C# code. But, since you are using soap one generic solution is available to you.
- Get an http proxy interceptor like wireshark.
- Run it while your C# app runs, collect the http requests from that.
- Run it while running your java code, collect the http requests from that.
Compare the two. -
Vector Array out of range error
Hiya, I've run into a strange Vector out of range error when trying to splice a Vector array. The idea is to cut off the Vector array after a certain point....
var vec:Vector.<int> = new Vector.<int>();
vec.push(1);
vec.push(2);
vec.push(3);
vec.push(4);
vec.push(5);
vec.splice(3,vec.length); // output RangeError: Error #1125: The index 5 is out of range 5.
The strange thing is that it works perfectly, if I change the Vector to a regular array like:
var vec:Vector.<int> = new Vector.<int>(); to var vec:Array.<int> = new Array();
Any ideas what am i doing wrong ?
Thanks, MartinI don't know why it don't throw error in Array, but seccond parameter in splice method is deletecount, so you try to delete all elements start from 3 (from element 3 to element 8, but you don't have 8 elements).
vec.splice(3,vec.length - 3); -

The syntax you have used wont work.
*APP is an optional parameter. Please use it only if its necessary.

Failed to Finish Transition(Subscript out of Range)
We are receiving this error message during playback intermittently: Failed to Finish Transition(Subscript out of Range).
Does anyone what causes this and how to resolve it?Can you give more details about what the script is doing when you get this error? Looks like an application generated message, the script is not inputting correct parameter values required on that page, maybe.

Index out of range when trying to create a new dimension (reporting type)
I just created all my dimensions/characteristics, created 2 cubes/infocubes (rate & ownership) in my new appset called 'CONSOLIDATION' and I can't seem to create a 'reporting type cube'.
When I try to create a cube called TEST or CONSO... (generic, finance or conso) it says 'index as out of range. Must be non negative & less than the size of the collection. Parameter name : index'. The message pops up immediately, before I can even try to choose dimensions.
Anybody who has a clue, I look forward to suggestions.
Regards
NicoHi Sorin,
Thanks for the reply. If I understand correctly, then in my application set, I cannot create any non-reporting type application? As we have deleted the 'Rate' application which was delivered along with APSHELL. Is there any way out to overcome this as from your reply, it seems not possible as the system needs a reference application belonging to the same application type.
Many Thanks for your reply.

Index out of range when trying to create a new Application
When I try to create an Application (Such as Consolidation,Ownership,Rate ) getting an Error Message 'Index as out of range. Must be non negative & less than the size of the collection. Parameter name : index'.
But i could able to create generic application with no issue.
Any leads would be appreciated .

RamHi,
Could you please check if an application has 'Journal' in use in your application set.
If so, it might be the cause of the issue.
This was reported some time ago. You can get rid of that by performing those steps. Before that, be sure to have a copy of all those below tables before doing any change (in order to be sure not to loose anything):
1. In tblapp, anything that has a '1' for Journal has to be changed to '0'
2. Deletion of all tables beginning with JRN.
3. Then, try to recreate your application, add needed dimension and do not forget to check both options (Re-assign SQL index and Process application).
Hope this will help.
Best Regards,

I have reset my NLS Parameters to their Default Values under the Preferences menu.
Any help short of re-installing would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
RaoulI came across another error on this forum that was similar to my problem in that the client could not connect to the database. One of the solutions to try was create a sqldeveloper.cmd file in the sqldev/sqldeveloper directory with the following lines:
set ORACLE_HOME=%CD%
start sqldeveloper.exe
I did this and I am able to connect to both my local databases and the databases located in Austin TX. Startup is very slow by the way. Before I could only connect to the databases in Austin.
One difference between the databases is that the nls_date_format parameter is explicitly defined in Austin with a format of DD-MON-RR.
My local database does not have an explicit definition and is taking the default, based on the nls_territory parameter.
It really does not explain my problem only a partial solution.
Thanks,

G3 10.3.9 & Itune upgrade - monitor say "out of range" - Please Help
Please help. I have G3 with 512Ram. I've been running Panther totally rialiably for a year and last night I decided to upgrade to 10.3.9 & the latest itunes. The 10.3.9 upgrade went fine and the G3 restarted and ran perfectly but after the itunes upgrade the G3 tries to restart but the monitor turns black after the start tones and comes up with the message "out of range" refereing to the frequences. I can't do anything to get past this message. Is there anyway I can get past this message to reset things? I have the Panther discs and I don't mind loosing my data but I don't want to loose my G3. Are there any keys or proceedures to get me back to square one? I've pressed every key on the keyboard & nothing happens. Please help...I love my G3
Stay calm. This is a minor problem. Do not initialize your Hard drive.
The message saying "out of range" comes DIRECTLY from your monitor, not from Mac OS X. But the reason it appears is that Mac OS X has become confused about what frequency your monitor should be running at. This often happens when the System Parameters -- stored in Parameter RAM and backed up with a small battery -- become corrupted.
The corruption can happen "just because" or it can happen when the Backup battery is forced to work (by loss of main power) but is not strong enough to do the job. If you cannot remember when you last changed it, now is probably a good time.
To get back in business, in the short run, you should reset the PRAM:
2238- Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
If a power fluctuation or outage precipitated this problem, the next time it happens will likely cause it again, so replace the 1/2 AA size 3.6 Volt non-recharging battery at your earliest convenience. More info here:

Asus vh232h out of range, Mac mini thunderbolt to vga
Hey guys,
Pretty much what the title says.....
Mac mini
Asus vh232h (VGA only, no dvi socket)
Thunderbolt to VGA adapter
VGA cable (I've tried several)
(Benq monitor running fine on the hdmi port)
In short, if I use a VGA cable under 1.8m, there's no problem.
If I use a cable of 3m in length, or two x 1.8m cables, I get a "Out of range" message on the monitor.
(My office is shared space, so I need the Mac mini to be inside a lockable cupboard. That means I need a cable longer than 1.8m)
FYI, I don't seem to be able to set the asus monitor resolution in Mac settings (not sure if it can be done when monitor is 'out of range', but I can see the Asus in Display settings, Arrangement. It looks about half the width and height of the benq.
Is a monitor supposed to connect successfully over a 3 m cable?
Will a thunderbolt to dvi adapter work? (Would have to buy new monitor)
Any other ideas?
Thanks,
DarrenBought a new benq 24" monitor, moshi mini display port to hdmi adapter, and 5m hdmi cable.
Sorted.
Must be an issue with apple mdp to VGA adapter when using VGA cables over 1.8m long.
