Parameter Panel Screen Crystal 2008 SP1

I schedule a Crystal Report and then I open the instance.  I can not change the  parameters in the parameter panel.  I believe we were able to do this in Crystal 2008 SP0.

Hello Brian,
Are you able to change the value when you run the report in the designer?
When creating the prompt, the value for Show on (Viewer) Panel needs to be set to Editable. If it is set to Read Only, you will not be able to change the values. Please check this value to make sure it is set for the report.

  • Prompts to install Crystal 2008 SP1 each time I double-click .rpt file

    Every time I want to open a report (.rpt) file from Windows Explorer, I get a message box stating:
    Preparing to install...
    Followed by another message box:
    Please wait while Windows configures Crystal 2008 SP1
    Followed by another message box:
    The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available.
    Insert the 'Crystal Reports 2008 SP1' disk and click OK.
    I select cancel at this point (I've already got Crystal Reports 2008 SP1 installed on my machine).
    After I select cancel, the following error appears:
    Error 1706.  No valid source could be found for product Crystal Reports 2008 SP1. The Windows installer cannot continue.
    I click OK and the report does not open.
    If I start Crystal Reports itself, then select File, Open and select the report to open, it opens fine (without error).
    The version of Crystal Reports (from Help, About Crystal Reports) is:  Version 12.1.0.892
    How can I resolve this without searching for the Crystal 2008 SP1 files (which were downloaded from the SAP/BO website).

    Hi Nancy,
    I've seen this happen usually when Windows Office has also been installed. The installer gets confused as to what should be installed or some dependency is missing. Not sure exactly what causes it.
    Go into Control and Add/Remove Programs and try doing a repair install for both CR and SP1. Then open up Explorer and click on Tools, Folder Options and then File Type. Scroll down to RPT and click on Change or Restore. Ther main be something missing from the File type association.
    Be sure to do this when you are logged in as local Administrator and/or your account is also configured to be part of the Local Admin group.
    Thank you

  • Where do the Crystal 2008 SP1 runtime files reside on a machine?

    Crystal XI runtime files could be located in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Business Objects\3.0\bin folder
    Where are the Crystal 2008 SP1 runtime files located?
    Thank you

    They are in: C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86
    Each version will be a new location so that Side by side installs do not over write other major version dll's.

  • Uninstalling Crystal 2008 SP1 merge module disables Crystal 2008 Designer

    Hi,
    I've come across a problem when uninstalling an application that includes the Crystal 2008 SP1 merge module, where Crystal Reports 2008 SP1 Developer is also installed on the machine.
    The uninstallation of an application containing this merge module will trigger the uninstall code in the merge module - I would have expected this module to take into account shared files and decrement the SharedDlls registry count for relevant .dlls etc, so that files still used by other applications are not affected or uninstalled.
    However it stops Crystal 2008 SP1 Developer from working, no message is displayed when attempting to launch the application (apart from in the Event Log), but following some investigation it appears a number of files and folders are removed by the merge module that shouldn't be, as follows:
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86\boezlib.dll
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86\uf12manager.dll
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\crystalreportviewers12\js\crviewer\images\
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\crystalreportviewers12\js\dhtmllib\images\
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\crystalreportviewers12\js\dhtmllib\samples\
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\crystalreportviewers12\js\dhtmllib\validator\
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\crystalreportviewers12\js\log4javascript\
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\crystalreportviewers12\js\MochiKit\
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\crystalreportviewers12\prompting\
    There could be others, but these are the files / folders I've identified so far, and restoring these files / folders appears to get Crystal Developer up and running and able to run reports.
    Does anybody know how to prevent this, or if this is a known issue and planned to be addressed in a future release of the merge modules?

    Hi,
    Thanks for your feedback Henry.
    I've downloaded the SP1 patch for Crystal Reports Designer, this appears to be the same one I already have installed, dated 28/09/08.  The problem is the current merge module for the SP1 runtime incorrectly removes some of the .dll's required by SP1 Designer if the merge module is subsequently installed / uninstalled with a third-party application from an ISV.  These .dll's should have been marked as Shared by the SP1 Designer patch install but have not, including the .dll's specific to SP1 (boezlib and uf12manager) along with a host of files in the Common\4.0\crystalreportviewers12 folders.
    I've tested around this area a few weeks ago and noticed that if the Shared reference count for these files in the registry is created before the SP1 merge module is installed / uninstalled (as it should have been by the SP1 Designer install) then the MM works correctly.  That is the reference count is increased when the MM is installed, decreased when MM is uninstalled but still remains > 0 and so these shared files are not removed.  This leaves the Crystal Reports SP1 Designer intact and working.
    I'll await the new install for SP1 Designer and give this a try in conjunction with the SP1 merge module install / uninstall.
    Also I've noticed the documentation you referred me to mentions the SP1 Runtime MSI will be refreshed to detect imcompatible software (to stop this corrupting an SP0 Designer install), but does not mention that the SP1 merge module will also be refreshed.  If the SP1 merge module is not refreshed, do you know if there will there be some documentation available for ISV's as to how to reliably detect any incompatible software on a target machine?  This will enable ISV's using the SP1 merge module to embed the same checks as used in your installations to prevent this corrupting any software on the target machine that is incompatible with the SP1 runtime.
    Many thanks,
    Peter.

  • Alignment issues after Crystal 2008 SP1 upgrade

    We are upgrading PeopleSoft tools from 8.49 to 8.50.11, for HR ver 9.0 and Crystal from ver 9 to ver 2008 SP1.
    Many of our Crystal reports that are run through the Process Scheduler into Excel are now having formatting issues such as headers wrapping vertically within a column, or extra rows/columns being added.
    Some cells in excel are merged and headings shifted over into another cell not lining up with the fields they belong to.
    We have run the Crystal conversion utility that came with the upgrade, but report are still not lining up. Has anyone experienced this and is there a solution.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
    Did you check with Peoplesoft if they support the upgrade? Since this is a PS issue please post your question to Peoplesoft support. They are an OEM Partner and will ask Support if they have any issues.

    When I try to install SP1 for Crystal 2008 the install stop part way through with "The feathure you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable."  It seems to be looking for CrystalReports.msi.  When you give it the path to the directory where the file can be found is give the same error message.

    Hi
    The SP1 patches are currently not available until May because they are being re-released. The refreshed version will try to prevent your situation from occurring.
    In the meantime try downloading SP1 for CR2008 from the link mentioned in the Whitepaper at [https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/702b3642-7e14-2c10-6484-857ffb4319d7]

  • Report ignoring parameter value from Crystals own dialog box

    Hi,
    Iu2019m using VB 2008, Crystal 2008 SP1. Iu2019m not embedding the reports, simply opening the .rpt file from an OpenFileDialog and using the below code. Very basic stuff. The report itself has 1 SQL table in it and 1 parameter.
                Dim report As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument
                report.Load(mReportFile, CrystalDecisions.Shared.OpenReportMethod.OpenReportByDefault)
                crvMain.ReportSource = report
                crvMain.RefreshReport()
    Yet the parameter thatu2019s used as a record selection is ignored and all the records are shown. I canu2019t see whatu2019s missing here. The .rpt file works fine in Crystal 2008, just not in the viewer, even when i debug. Iu2019ve found a crystal viewer FOC (SaberLogic Logicity) based on 2008, where the .rpt file works. Iu2019m thinking it must be a vb.net coding error or omission in my project.

    Hello,
    There are two things I can see.
    The first is a known issue described in the [Note 1204895|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_erq/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes.do].
    The second is the line "crvMain.ReportSource = report" will preview the report.
    The line "crvMain.RefreshReport()" just refreshes it and would require parameters again.

  • Crystal 2008 Runtime error on Windows Server 2008

    I have a simple ASP.Net web applications that is using reports developed in Crystal 2008.  My server OS is Windows Server 2008 and has the Crystal 2008 SP1 runtime controls installed.  When I run the application it works fine until I actually try to run the report.  As the paremeter screen is attempting to load I am getting several script errors on the page.
    _de is undefined, object not specified, bobj is undefinded are the major messages.  I have researched for several hours and have had no success.  I have come to the conclusion that the web page does not know where to find the .js and .css crystal files or does not have the correct permissions to access the files.
    One thing that I found online and tried was to add a line of code in the HTML that specified the script as java and the location of the JS file for the viewer.  This helped but still had errors.
    BTW....This application runs fine on a Windows Server 2003 SP2 OS.
    Anyone had the same issue?  Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Forgot to mention my development environment is VS 2008.

  • Crystal 2008 EVALUATION broke Visual Studio Team System 2008 Developer Ed.

    After installing the Crystal 2008 EVALUATION, I can no longer edit Crystal Reports in Visual Studio Team System 2008 Developer Edition. When I open the report I get a blank grey screen instead of the designer.
    Please help.

    Hi,
    I'm half way there. I can edit the reports in Visual Studio now. So thanks for that.
    My other problem is when I try to construct a report using the ReportDocument class I get this exception from the constructor:
    An error has occurred while attempting to load the Crystal Reports runtime. Either the Crystal Reports registry key permissions are insufficient, or the Crystal Reports runtime is not installed correctly. Please install the appropriate Crystal Reports redistributable (CRRedist*.msi) containing the correct version of the Crystal Reports runtime (x86, x64, or Itanium) required.  Please go to http://www.businessobjects.com/support for more information.
    I'm on Vista Ultimate, 64 bit.
    I installed Crystal 2008 SP1. Then I downloaded cr121_redist_install.zip and installed CRRuntime_12_1_mlb.exe.
    Any suggestions?
    Here's my code:
              public string ExecuteReportImmediate( string reportName )
                   ReportDocument doc = new ReportDocument( );
                   doc.Load( @"C:\Reports\xyz.rpt" );
                   string guid = Guid.NewGuid( ).ToString( );
                   string pdfFile = Path.Combine( _serverPath, guid + ".pdf" );
                   doc.ExportToDisk( ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat, pdfFile );
                   return guid;

  • Crystal 2008 SP3 - incremental or cumulative?

    Hi Experts,
    Our software packages include pre-requisites like .Net runtime and Crystal 2008 runtime (among others). We currently have Crystal 2008 CRRuntime_12_1_mlb.msi as a pre-requisite. Our next major release requires Crystal 2008 SP3 as a pre-requisite. I have the CRRuntime_12_3_mlb.msi file which is SP3 for Crystal 2008. Do I still need to have the base Crystal 2008 runtime in the packages or does Crystal 2008 SP3 include previous service packs?
    I.e. do our customers need to install Crystal 2008 base, Crystal 2008 SP1, Crystal 2008 SP2 and then Crystal 2008 SP3? Are these service packs cumulative?
    If it helps, the CRRuntime_12_3_mlb.msi file is 58211KB in size, where the CRRuntime_12_1_mlb.msi is 42557KB.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Alicia,
    You should only need to use one of the runtime MSIs when updating your deployment package. If you're moving to CRRuntime_12_3_mlb.msi, then you do not need the CRRuntime_12_1_mlb.msi.
    Sincerely,
    Dan Kelleher

  • Crystal Reports 2008 parameter panel discrepancy.

    Hi,
    I have a report designed using Crystal Reports 2008. The report has a dynamic parameter called Location which is populated from a table. It is a Value - Description pair so it is:
    Value = LocID
    Descripition = LocationName.
    The Show on Viewer(Panel) attribute is set to Editable.
    The Prompt with Description Only attribute is set to true.
    In the Crystal Reports stand-alone Designer everything works fine. It prompts with the Description. After making a selection, the Parameter Panel shows the selected items(the Description, NOT the value) correctly. This is the desired behavior.
    But  when the report is viewed in the Crystal Reports Viewer that comes with .NET 2008 the Parameter panel shows the Value, which is LocID and not the description which is LocationName. This is NOT very useful.
    I have tried other third party Crystal Reports viewers as well. They all exhbit the same discrepancy.
    How can this be resolved?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    - Rajan.

    Hi Don,
    Thank you for your response. The assemblies and their versions are as follows;
    CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine - 12.0.2000.0
    CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.Framework - 12.0.1100.0
    CrystalDecisions.Shared                         - 12.0.2000.0
    CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms          - 12.0.2000.0
    Thanks,

  • Crystal Reports 2008 parameter panel

    Hello,
    I'm using Crystal Reports 2008 stand-alone application to design reports. I'm wondering is there a possibility to change information display on parameter panel?
    The problem is that I've created a parameter with option "prompt with description only" set to true. This parameter has value and description. When it's prompting for parameter everything goes fine, it prompts with description only, but in parameter panel it's only values (not descriptions) displayed. This is confusing for report users as the value is key (int type) and description is name (string that actually says something to user).
    Maybe there is something to be set in Crystal Reports Viewer component properties?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Gemi,
    I recommend to post this query to the [Crystal Reports Design|SAP Crystal Reports; forum.
    This forum is dedicated to topics related to the creation and design of Crystal Report documents. This includes topics such as database connectivity, parameters and parameter prompting, report formulas, record selection formulas, charting, sorting, grouping, totaling, printing, and exporting but also installation and registering.
    It is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there.
    Also, all Crystal Reports Design queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.

  • Crystal reports 2008 SP1 missing in BusinessObjects Crystal Reports website

    We have used Crystal reports 2008 as a reporting utility in our application and have released our product last year. During our release the latest software available  was Crystal reports 2008 base + SP1 + SP2 + Fix Pack 2.7 and same was mentioned in our documentation as mentioned in BELOW.
    The current supported version of Crystal Reports is Crystal Reports 2008 with
    Service Pack 2 and Fixpack 2.7. The installation sequence is as follows:
    1. Install Crystal Reports 2008 base.
    2. Install Crystal Reports 2008 SP1.
    3. Install Crystal Reports 2008 SP2.
    4. Install Fixpack 2.7. This can be found under the hotfix section on the web site.
    Questions
    1) Now the issue is that, Crystal reports 2008 SP1  is NOT available for download in the "Business Objects u2013 Crystal Reports Runtime Packages". Why was it removed? Any clue? Without this our instructions doesn't hold good.
    2) If Crystal reports 2008 SP1 will NOT be available any more then what is the equivalent installable for "Crystal reports 2008 base + SP1 + SP2 + Fix Pack 2.7" to be used?  Can Crystalreports 2008 SP3 Full Build + Fix Pack 3.3 be used instead of "Crystal reports 2008 base + SP1 + SP2 + Fix Pack 2.7" ?
    Pls Clarify.

    Hello,
    Download Service Pack 3.0 full build: https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009989492010E/cr2008_sp3_fullbuild.zip
    and then Fix Pack 3.3: https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100016815822010E/cr2008fp33.exe
    Then you and your users don't need to go through all of those upgrade steps.
    Thank you
