Parameter Prompt appearing behind a VB6 Form (Hidden)

Hi,
I have been using a VB6 application to access reports which have been created in Crystal 11.5, they work. I have tried to use a parememter promt for a new report but when the report is generated it appears behind the VB6 Form I would like to know if there is any way that i can force Focus to the parameter window in order to keep it at the front.
This was a report originally designed in crystal 8 and it worked fine i do not understand why i cant get the parameter window to stay in front of the VB6 Form
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Please re-post if this is still an issue to the Legacy Application Development SDKs Forum or purchase a case and have a dedicated support engineer work with you directly

  • Sub report parameter prompt appears when running Visual Studio 2008 with Crystal Reports 2008

    If I build a simple Crystal Report that contains another simple Crystal Sub Report, the report will print preview fine in Crystal 2008.  The problem happens when add this report to a Visual Studio 2008 Web Application Project and I build and debug the application, the Crystal Viewer is prompting the user for the parameter used to link the sub report to the main report.  This should never happen as the user is not supposed to see this parameter.  If I type in some value for this sub-report parameter prompt, the Crystal Report Viewer gives an error message about not finding the field.
    I was having the same problem in Vs2005 with Crystal 10 which is why I upgraded.  Business Object's official fix for this problem was published under their KB article number c2018840 and c2019047.  These hot fixes ended up causing general exception errors in Visual Studio so I scrapped these solutions.
    Support had me install SP0 for Crystal 2008 (which did not fix it).
    Any ideas?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi Bontrager,
    Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
    According to your description, I agree with pvdg42's suggestion, so I suggest you can try pvdg42's suggestion to install the version of
    Crystal Reports 10.5 to check this issue again.
    Reference:
    http://forums.asp.net/t/1236730.aspx?Which+CR+version+is+in+Visual+Studio+2008+
    In addition, since this forum is
    to discuss: Visual Studio WPF/SL Designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System, and Visual Studio Editor. So if you have any issue about the
    Crystal Reports, I suggest you can ask the issue to the
    SAP Crystal Reports website:
    http://scn.sap.com/community/crystal-reports/content?filterID=contentstatus%5bpublished%5d~objecttype~objecttype%255bthread
    as pvdg42 pervious suggestion, it will be better support.
    Thanks for your understanding.

  • Called form appears behind the calling form

    Hello all,
    From menu.fmb am trying to client on a button to open a new form test.fmb.
    using open_form('test.fmb', activate, session).
    When clicking the button, it opens new form test.fmb but is behind the calling form. I want the test.fmb to come in front and calling form should be behind.
    I have many other forms working fine and only this one form is causing the problem.
    have tried both call_form and open_form.
    Any suggestions?

    Also I have checked that MODAL and window property is No and Document

  • Called form appears behind calling form

    Hello All,
    I’ve got three forms dep_list, dep_edit, dic_list
    Dep_list is main, from this I’m calling dep_edit
    OPEN_FORM(:global.path||'DEP_EDIT.FMX',ACTIVATE,SESSION);
    From dep_edit I’m calling dic_list
    OPEN_FORM(:global.patch||'DIC_LIST.FMX',ACTIVATE,SESSION);
    Dic_list appears behind dep_edit. I can’t find a way to set dec_list to appear in the front. All the rest of the forms in my application works correctly. I’ve checked all the settings and I can’t find way to set it correctly. How can I achieve that?
    Thanks in advance,
    Best Regards

    Check the properties of the window in DEP_EDIT if either Modal is set to Yes or style is set to Dialog.
    btw...
    OPEN_FORM(:global.path||'DEP_EDIT.FMX',ACTIVATE,SESSION);
    You should'nt include the path in your forms-calls. Leave this to the forms-configuration and simple do a
    OPEN_FORM('DEP_EDIT',ACTIVATE,SESSION);

  • JavaScript Menus Appear Behind Flash

    I am creating a page with a flash file embedded below a
    navigation bar with drop-down menus. The nav bar was created in
    Fireworks and imported. The problem is that the drop downs are
    appearing BEHIND the embedded Flash file so you can't see them. I
    have been looking all over for a solution to this without much
    success. If anyone has any ideas I would be appreciative if you
    share them.
    Regards,
    Andy

    All Active content on a page will always rise to the top, so
    to speak,
    including Flash, certain form elements, Java applets, and
    Active X controls.
    This means that each of these will poke through layers. There
    is not a good
    cross-browser/platform reliable way to solve this issue, but
    if you can be
    confident in your visitors using IE 5+ or NN6+, then you can
    use the Flash
    wmode parameter (however, Safari does not support this
    properly!).

  • ListView appearing behind other graphical components in VBox

    I have created a ListView implementation of a ChoiceBox since I have a very long list of items and I don't like the fact that the entire list is displayed when opening the ChoiceBox. I have attached this ListView to a button so that when a user clicks on the button the ListView opens just like a ChoiceBox. My issue, however, is that when the ListView is diplayed it appears behind the other graphical components in my VBox container! I have tried to call "toFront()" on my ListView component however the VBox repositions my ListView component to the bottom of the VBox (which makes sense since toFront merely moves the node to the end of the VBox node list). Obviously this is not the behaviour I want and I don't want to have to convert my VBox to a StackPane (or just a Pane) and layout the components myself since the VBox lays out the components perfectly. It would be nice if there were a "z order" parameter but that doesn't appear to be the case and I have already looked into the "depth" parameter.
    Are there any other ways to bring my ListView to the front without the VBox repositioning this component? How does the ChoiceBox component itself accomplish this? I have also tried to embed the ListView in a PopupControl but the unfortunate side effect of this is that the Popup always appears in front of EVERY window on my screen which is a tad annoying.
    BTW, I think JavaFX is the next best thing to sliced bread! I have written a very large application and this is the only issue that I have run into since it went GA. JavaFX has far exceeded my expectations and the JavaFX team (and Oracle in general) and other developers who have contributed to this project should all be commended for the outstanding work they have done on this!!!

The reason why is that if you use "lightweight" rendering of the drop down (er... popup?) and it extends beyond the end of the window, you will have your list appear clipped. So you have to use a real heavyweight window (the PopupControl) to make sure that if it extends beyond the edge of the window, it displays correctly.
    I believe the UI controls team is planning on adding a proper ComboBox (which, FWIW, we always planned to add) sometime between now and 3.0, but I'm not sure when. The ChoiceBox actually uses a ContextMenu, while ComboBox would use PopupControl, but some of the little details are the same. Here is a code snippet that might be useful from the ChoiceBox skin.
            // When popup is hidden by autohide - the ChoiceBox Showing property needs
            // to be updated. So we listen to when autohide happens. Calling hide()
            // there after causes Showing to be set to false
            popup.setOnAutoHide(new EventHandler<Event>() {
                @Override public void handle(Event event) {
                    ((ChoiceBox)getSkinnable()).hide();
            // fix RT-14469 : When tab shifts ChoiceBox focus to another control,
            // its popup should hide.
            getSkinnable().focusedProperty().addListener(new ChangeListener<Boolean>() {
                @Override public void changed(ObservableValue<? extends Boolean> observable, Boolean oldValue, Boolean newValue) {
                    if (!newValue) {
                        ((ChoiceBox)getSkinnable()).hide();
            // TODO remove this id once bug RT-7542 is fixed.
            popup.setId("choice-box-popup-menu");

  • Spry Vertical Submenu Bar Appears Behind iFrame

    In IE and Chrome, the Spry vertical submenu bar appears properly on every page of the website, except for the one page that has iframes.
    In IE, the submenus appear behind the iFrames
    In Chrome, the submenus appear in front of the iFrames but with an incomplete border
    In Firefox and Safari, the submenus appear as they should (in front of the iframes and with a complete border)
    I've scoured this forum and tried several fixes that seemed to work for others with slightly different conditions but didn't work for mine.
    I've included my SpryMenuBarVertical.css for referece; if you can offer a fix for this particular issue, I'd be forever grateful. Thank you!

  • Passing sort as a parameter to Reports from Oracle 9i forms

    I'm trying to call a report from 9i forms by passing 13 parameters. One of them is a 'sort' parameter. All the other parameters are passed succesfully to the report and the report also receives them successfully. But 'sort' parameter didn't work. I don't know if the report received it or not. I can see all the parameter values on the browser link of IE. The sort parameter also appears there but doesn't sort the data.
    !!!!! Please help me out !!!!
    Thank you.

    Hello,
    Are you still haveing problems witht he sort parameter? If so, I use a lexical parameter as the sort parameter along with an after paramter form trigger. I have found that a bind variable doesn't work. So it maybe that the report is running just fine but the sort parameter is just not working properly due to the bind variable. If you don't have it set up with a lexical paramter, try this:
    First get rid of any bind variable with an "ORDER BY" clause. For example, you may have:
    select
    columnA,
    columnB,
    columnC,
    columnB
    from tableA
    where
    columnA is not null
    order by
    :sortby
    However, replace the order by with:
    select
    columnA,
    columnB,
    columnC,
    columnB
    from tableA
    where
    columnA is not null
    &sortby
    Then create another user parameter by clicking the "+" in the object navigater. Call it P_1. Use this parameter as the parameter the users sees. You can create a static list of values that a user can choose to sort by. Say "A", "B","C", and "D".
    Then in your after parameter form trigger, put the following code:
    function AfterPForm return boolean is
    begin
    IF :P_1 = 'A' THEN
    :sortby := 'Order by columnA';
    ELSE IF :P_1 = 'B' THEN
    :sortby := 'Order by columnB';
    ELSE IF :P_1 = 'C' THEN
    :sortby := 'Order by columnC';
    ELSE IF :P_1 = 'D' THEN
         :sortby := 'Order by columnD';
         END IF;
    END IF;
    END IF;
    END IF;
    return (TRUE);
    end;
    Hope this helps.

  • SAP B1 suspends when Crystal Report parameter screen appears

    Crystal Report Add On is installed to my SAP B1 2007B (patch 10) system.
    When I run a CR report, a parameter screen appears for me to enter required parameter values. The system seems suspended to all other B1 users until I submitted the parameter values.
    Any idea of why this happens? And how to prevent this?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    Is the addon download from SDN or developed by yourself?
    If it is developed by yourself, please make sure to open the CR report in another thread.
    You got to separate B1 Event Routine and Window Form Event Routine in different Thread.
    Otherwise one will be hung.

  • Fireworks Menu Appearing Behind Content

    Hi All
    I have an existing website built in Macromedia Studio 8. I would like to upgrade to Web Premium CS5.5. As a result, I am currently using a trial version which has helped me to redesign the whole website. I am not proficient in code writing and have a basis understanding of the software. (That is why I am testing the trial version first). However, I an faced with TWO problems.
    The first is, although my templates were built using one of Adobe's page layout formats (then customised), some of the pages are no longer centred.
    The second is, I have created menu's in both Fireworks (Studio 8 then edited in Fireworks CS5.1 creative suite master collection and saved) and Spry (in Dreamweaver CS5.5) - which have now caused the menus to appear behind content on some of the pages.
    I have tried to use the pages which look fine in the browser as templates but, sadly, when the content is changed/added to, the menu appears behind again.
    I would appreciate any help.
    S
    P.S.I can't publish a link as I am using a trial version of the software at present.

    Thank you for your prompt reply Snake eyes,

    1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the div. The elements within this div have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design.

  • Combine Subreport Parameter Prompt

    Post Author: Leanne
    CA Forum: General
    Good morning,
    I have a report with multiple subreports that print based on the main report parameters.  For instance, one subreport will print if the main report references a Project ID, in which case the other subreport (based on EnrollmentID) will be suppressed.
    The two subreports have similar information based off of different tables and as such have two parameters that are identical.  The two parameters are a type of currency and simply print values on the report.
    My question is, how do I 'combine' the parameters that are the same so the user is prompted only once for the value?
    The strange thing is I've done this before - even had it working on this report last year, however am now adding another currency field and the parameters are appearing twice in the list.  I have a screen shot of the parameter prompt if you'd like to see what I'm referring to.
    The parameters on both subreports are named identical and the Parameter description is identical.  How can I combine these parameters to result in the user being prompted only once?
    Thanks so much for your help!

    Thanks for the reply!
    I am also using Crystal XI however I can't seem to find a reference to 'Update Links'.  Can you be more specific?
    Thanks again,

  • CR 2008 - Optional parameter prompts

    Hi!
    I sometimes use Optional parameter prompts in Crystal Reports 2008.
    The main reason is to minimise user input in Selection Criteria Screen.
    I have many subreports, and not all prompts are needed for all subreports.
    If the user leaves the prompt blank, then a formula will set a default value for the user.
    I usually put the optional prompt at the top, so that user needs only fill prompts at the bottom.
    Here is an example:
    I have a parameter field called "PreferredSortOrder"
    The Edit screen reads as follows:
    Type: String
    List of Values: Static
    Value:
        Original Order
        Description
    Value Options:
    Show on (Viewer) Panel           : Read Only
    Prompt Text                              : Preferred Sort Order [Optional]
    Prompt With Description Only  : True
    Optional Prompt                        : True
    Default Value                             :
    Allow custom values                 : False
    Allow multiple values                 : False
    Allow discrete values                 : True
    Allow range values                     : False
    Min Length                                  :
    Max Length                                  :
    Edit Mask                                   :
    Show value or Description        : Show Value
    My report works perfectly, even if I leave the parameter field blank
    I now add another parameter field called "WhichWarehouse"
    with exactly the same values as above.
    When I run the Crystal Report, I get this message;
    Error running Crystal Reports
    The report runs only if I type a value in the "WhichWarehouse" prompt
    (The "PreferredSortOrder" prompt remains blank)
    I did exactly the same as before. Why does the 2nd optional parameter not work like the first?
    What has gone wrong?
    Thank you
    Leon Lai
    JUST ADDED
    I just noticed that in the Field Explorer,
    (a) There is a green TICK near the parameter PreferredSortOrder
    (b) But no green Tick neat the parameter "WhichWarehouse"
    What does the green tick mean?
    Could this be the key to the mystery?

    Hi Leon,
    No green tick means that the prompt has Not been used in the report.
    If the report has Subreports, and if the subreport also has a 'warehouse' prompt then it could be this prompt that is causing the issue. You should link both the warehouse prompts to make sure you're only prompted once.

  • View Acrobat 9.0 PDF object in VB6 Form

    I'm programming in Visual Basic 6 and I was able to load the Acrobat 5 pdf object into the VB form.
    Now I try to find VB6 components to open Acrobat 9.0 PDF object in VB6 Form and could not find it.
    What should I do?
    Could somebody help me?
    I’ll really appreciate it,
    Ben

    I forgot to tell that I have Windows XP SP3.
    I added the Adobe Acrobat Browser Control type Library 1.0 (AcroPDF.dll) from Components.
    But when I try to Load the PDF into the VB6 Form I received Message from Adobe:
    “There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. Please Exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and try again.”
    When I click OK the PDF object is not showing up in the VB6 Form and trying again not help.
    If I just click the object manually outside of VB it is open without notice.
    Thanks,
    Ben.
