Parameters for web reports

What is this limitation of 256 characters that I hear about?
Thanks for your assistance.
null

There isn't one. There was an IE bug with IE5 and Adobe Acrobat not permitting URL's greater than 255 chars - otherwise there shouldn't be an issue.

  • Auto-populating the selection screen parameters for web report

    hello
    i am having a scenario where my web report is a link to another internet application (a BSP application) and it is called by clicking some link or button on the BSP page.
    can i pass the selection values for BW Web report directly from BSP application through a query string or by setting some cookie values so that the user will directly view the report on click of that link?
    Thanks in advance.

    we can do this by adding a URL as the query-string with web template_id and with the selection screen parameters as key value pairs

  • How to make Management of row level restrictions easy for webi reports?

    Hi all
    Our BO Product version is 12.3.0.601 (BO 3.1)
    We are applying row level security for webi reports at universe level...
    Since  Universes are more in Number we have to create same restrictions and apply it to the users lets take a restrictions on region....which is common across all universes.
    So the problem lies with the management of restrictions created at universe level.
    Can we have a setup in where we can centralized the restirctions at a place so that management would be easy ......???
    Shall we have to import the roles(restrictions) from R/3 or BW or Database level...?
    Then how we will restrict our report (webi) to a region?????
    So basically webi reports should run with the restrictions lets say region....How we will achieve this?/
    Thanks and Regards

    Hi,
    what is your Datasource?
    If its SAP BW i would highly recommend you use the SAP Authentication in your  BOE XI 3.1 So the users log into BOE with their SAP Username and Password and than the Data restriction of your BW takes place when the users run their Reports.
    Informations on how to confiure the SAP Authentication you will find in the installation Guide of the SAP ITK.

  • Execution time for web reports

    Hello every one,
    How to calculate execution time for web reports, for query execution we will go through RSRT, by giving query name and press execute + Debug button then select statistical data & Do not Cache buttons then press enter, after getting output press on back button, we will get duration of the query.....
    But my question is , can we calculate execution time for webreport, if so can you please guide me.
    and can you also tell me , if there is any RRI for one report, how to calculate execution time for these queries.
    Ex : Query ABC have XYZ as its drilldown report , i need to calculate execution time for XYZ report via ABC report.
    Thanks in advance,
    Best Regards.
    NP.

    Hi,
    For reports executed in java web you can add the parameter &PROFILING=X
    to the URL in order to record the execution time. Please have a look at SAP note 1048691 for further information.

  • Authorizations for WEBI report based on BPC data model

    Hi All,
    We are strugelling with setting up authorisations for the reporting on BPC data model.
    We created Bex query on top of Multiprovider that consists of BPC cube. The Bex query is source for WEBI output. The authorisations has been set up on BPC data model (cube) in BPC application but they are not passed nor to Bex query nor to Webi. Example: The query is build on top of OPEX BPC data model, this data model is restricted based on Oranizational Unit. My test user is allowed to see only Org Unit = 'Australia' in the OPEX BPC data model, however when I'm running the report I can see absolutely everything.
    We are not connecting/using any BI cubes itself for this reporting. We are intrested only in the WEBI report based on BPC data models.
    We were trying to use BPC data model (without any extra settings) as the source for BEx report, we were also trying to use virtual BPC data model as the source for Bex transient query - but non of these have helped.
    Can you please advise how the authorisations should be set up for WEBI reporting on BPC data models?
    Kasia

    Anybody can help with this issue please?

  • RRMX for web report?

    Hi,
    Just busy defining authorizations for web reports based on BEx queries. In the role is the S_TCODE=RRMX REALLY needed? And if so does that entail that the users can use BEx query designer as well?
    Thnx for thinking.

    Thnx.
    Do you refer to the "change local/global definition" in "excel" via the BEx query designer? Because that is the functionality that I would like to restrict, web access only.
    By different "auth objects" you refer to the S_RS_COMP etc?
    Thnx in advance.

  • Syntax for passing Xcelsius parameters to Webi Report (Drill Down)

    Hi,
    I am trying to drilldown from an Xcelsius chart to a webi report by passing the prompts. And I have given the following syntax:
    http://<CMS SERVER>:<PORT>/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?iDocID=<DOCID>&sType=wid&sRefresh=Y&mode=full&lsSCalendarYear/Month=JAN2009&&lsSBusiness+Category=
    Corporate.
    When I click on the chart in Xcelsius, it opens the webi report in a new window. First & foremost, it asks me to login again(this is during testing from the Xcelsius application itself and I am not sure this would happen when I publish the dashboard to BOBJ infoview server). And then in the Webi report, it is showing the prompts screen, instead of directly accepting the passed on values and displaying the report. Am I doing something wrong? Can anyone please help?
    Kalyan

    Hi, Kalyan!
    I do not know exactly what the problem of your URL/syntax is, but I know that I successfully managed to call a WebI report out of an Xcelsius dashboard. So, let's have a look at my URL/syntax:
    http://<CMS SERVER>:<PORT>/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?
    iDocID=<ID>&
    sIDType=CUID&
    sRefresh=Y&
    lsSCountryKey=DE&
    So, the differences are:
    -> I use the WebI report's CUID and I put this ID type ("CUID") into the URL: "...&sIDType=CUID&..."
    -> I do not use "sType" and "mode"
    -> The rest, i.e. the report's specific parameters/prompts - all starting with lsS... is the same.
    As I said before: I do not know if there is a relevant difference, but why not giving it a try...?

  • Filter condition for Webi report scheduling

    Hello,
    I have a Webi report with a query that has one filter (it states the starting and ending date of data to be displayed in the report). This report has to be scheduled but it has to contain different filter values each time the report is run.
    I'd like to know if there is a way to schedule this report taking into account that each iteration of the scheduling process has to use different values for the filter.
    On the same way, the Webi report has a XY diagram with a text title made up of a fixed literal label. Is there any way to inject the text title from the scheduling process (in order to avoid editing the report before each scheduling iteration occurs)?
    Thanks a lot!

    Victor,
    one filter (it states the starting and ending date of data to be displayed in the report). This report has to be scheduled but it has to contain different filter values each time
    There are a couple of ways to handle this requirement, depending upon other environmental factors.  Here is one method, but it requires the ability to update/change data at the database using an external tool (anything that permits processing transactional information).
    You can set up an additional table with two columns:  starting_date and ending_date
    Someone updates the additional table as appropriate before the next run will kick off in the schedule.
    The tricky part is in getting your current report to incorporate the other table, and for this you may need to either create a view in your database or a derived table in your universe.  Here is the rudimentary SQL structure that might work for you:
    create table start_end_dates (beginning_date datetime,end_date datetime)
    go
    insert into start_end_dates values ('9/1/2009','9/30/2009')
    go
    create table my_data (col_a char(1),month_id datetime)
    go
    insert into my_data values ('a','9/1/2009')
    insert into my_data values ('a','10/1/2009')
    go
    select *
    from my_data
    where month_id >= (select beginning_date from start_end_dates) and
          month_id <= (select end_date from start_end_dates)
    The start_end_dates table is the one that receives a single input, populated with the starting and ending date of data.  The "my_data" table is an example of how the source table can call in the "parameters" of the "start_end_dates" table to fulfill its quest for filtering (additional filtering on other things within your scenario can also be applied).
    Once you can get the mechanics of the SQL to work for you (either in the universe or a view), then you can set the report up to work hand-in-glove with the above structure.  In the report, you can either have a second data provider that selects on the "start_end_dates" table, storing that data in the report and displaying it somewhere, or you could use the min(month_id) and max(month_id) concepts and display that somewhere too.
    Thanks,
    John

  • Parameter form for web report

    Hello,
    Using rwservlet on the web I can specify paramform=yes and I'll get a parameter form for my reports, which is really handy as it saves me from having to build my own forms. However when I run JSPs directly I cannot seem to get the automated form. Am I missing something obvious or is the parameter form just not available when you run JSPs directly?
    Cheerio,
    Robert

    Hi Robert,
    The description of the command line keyword PARAMFORM in Publishing Reports manual says:
    Use PARAMFORM to specify whether to display the Runtime Parameter Form when you execute a report via CGI or a servlet. PARAMFORM is used only to supply parameters to paper layout reports, not Web source reports.
    For JSP reports you need to create an HTML parameter form which calls the JSP and submits the parameters selected.
    You can find Reports documentation (incl Publishing Reports here):

    Hi Kamal,
    For you requirement, the following chapter in the 'Building Reports manual' should help you. Go through the chapter-" Building a Simple Parameter Form for a JSP-based Web Report'. This will help you on how to create a parameterform and to run the report based on the parameter value.
