Parental controll issues os lion

I'm having problems with the parental control in the new Lion oppgrade. Regard how much time my kids have left, the time dissapears if they log off. Anyone else having these problems or having suggestions for solving the issues?

No, as stated above, Mac OSX Lion no longer comes as standard with Adobe Flash, it must be downloaded as a seperate piece of software, the reasoning for this is unknown, but it can be ssured it is no big deal, simply go to the adobe website and search flash, the download the appropriate one for mac.

Parental control issue

I am unable to unlock the parental controls in iTunes 9.0. I receive the following error message "The parental control preference could not be unlocked because the user "dw00521" does not have administrative privileges." I don't ever remember creating or adding parental controls. I am the only user of this computer. I cannot access the iTunes store or execute home sharing since these items are turned off in parental controls. Would appreciate any help in how to resolve. Okay ... there may also be an issue with the preferences files relating to parental controls too. So rebuilding your preference files may be of some help here.
The technique you need to fix that is described in the "Remove iTunes Preference files" section of the "User-specific troubleshooting" section of the following document:

Before starting out on that, set the PC up to view hidden files and folders, as per the description at the beginning of the "User-specific troubleshooting" section.
*Some heads-ups before proceeding*
Be careful of any custom preferences (EQ, imports, etc) you have set up. Take a note of those, because rebuilding the relevant prefs returns all such prefs to their default settings. You may need to set up any such preferences all over again.
You may also need to reinstall any third-party plugins afterwards.
Things to expect during the pref file rebuild ... moving one set to the desktop (on XP) causes the setup assistant to run during the rebuild. Avoid saying yes if it asks you to import all the media files on your PC into iTunes. Otherwise, you'll end up duplicating all your content in your iTunes library. Moving the other set of prefs to the desktop (on XP) means that you have to agree to the licence agreement again.

EA3500 Smart Wi Fi - How to disable IPV6 to address Parental Control Issue

I've been reading that parental controls does not work with IPV6.
I would like to disable IPV6.
How would I do that?
P.S.: I noticed responses for EA4500 that there is a check box to disable the IPV6. Very straight forward but my interface
does not have the same layout of the GUI.

Hi petroski1, the process of disabling IPv6 in your router depends if you’re using the Classic user interface or the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi. You may refer to this link, for instructions: http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?pid=80&app=vw&vw=1&login=1&json=1&docid=bd520bcb07a6474596169...
If you’re using the Classic one, select IPv6 under the Setup tab and just disable it. And if you’re also using the Linksys Smart WI-Fi, go to Connectivity, select Internet settings, click on IPv6 click edit and make sure to uncheck the enable box.

Parent Control Issues

My wife and I just purchased an Ipad mini for our 8 year old son as a reward for a summer reading goal. We have read about parent controls and restrictions but can not seem to find the kind of app or setting that will allow us the sort of restrictions that we want to have. What I would like to do is place all games that he might want into a folder and then set a time restriction on what he might chose to do in that folder. He should have the freedom to exit the folder and do something else such as math homework and then re-enter the folder to play a game. I want this all control via a password that we can enter to have the timer reset and to have it reset each day.
Does anyone have any ideas on what might accomplish this and how we might get this done?

ITunes 10.5 Parental Control Issue - Cannot Disable Check for Updates

We are looking at updating to iTunes 10.5 in a large company.
Normally we add the following key to lock parental controls and disable the check for software updates.
This locked or greyed out the check for updates check box. This does not seem to work in the 10.5 release.
This did work in iTunes 10.4.1.10.
Here is the registry key we are using.

Parental Controls Issue

I have parental controls set up on my daughter's laptop. All was well for a year, until yesterday when she could not get on the internet. I can get on fine as admin, but under her identity, she cannot connect to anything. I have rebooted, turned airport on and off, reset my wireless, and once in a while she connects but as soon as you click anywhere you can't connect to any websites.
Nothing has changed settings-wise. If I shut down the controls, she gets online no problem.
Any help appreciated.

Your profile indicates you are running 10.4.9 which is Tiger but you posted in the Leopard forum??
If you are running 10.4.9, try downloading and installing the 10.4.11 combo update which will bring your system software up to date. I posted both PowerPC and Intel links not knowing which Mac you have.

Then repair disk permissions...
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

EA6700 Parental Controls Issue

When timed parental controls are set, all websites are blocked at that time - however, I've noticed that Skype calls that were established before the cut-off time continue without being cut off.
I hope Linksys release a firmware update so that all traffic is cut off at the specified times

I'm trying to block access for 2 specific devices connected to the router.
As you'd expect, kids pick up on the fact that all they have to do is make sure they're logged into popular websites before cutoff
so by the sounds of it, the only way to block internet access fully is to reboot the router after time restrictions come into force to cut off existing connections. This then defeats the convenience of automated times as you have to manually intervene anyway.

WHEN IS APPLE GOING TO FIX PARENTAL CONTROLS for Mountain lion?

I have contacted Apple Support to be told "they" are not aware of the problem. Could everyone experiencing the same issue of timelimits and bedtime controls not working as they should (i.e in the previous OS) please inform Apple support of this frustrating BUG. I want to use the control together as I had done until I upgraded. It is not right that I am expected to compromise by having on one control operational (either time or bedtime limit). I cannot believe the supposely market leader could be "unaware" of this problem. Where is the quality control? And why is it taking so long to fix?

Yet another parental control issue

Since the initial set up of my broadband on Thursday I have been unable to access Twitter, Facebook or instragram. It seems that I'm not alone with this problem so I'll spare the details. Any help would be gratefully received as daughters are driving me mad because they can't access their facebooks.

Parental Controls Always Allow App issue with Blender app (3d modeling app)

To whom this may concern,
I have a 3D modeling app called blender. I have installed it on my mac os running on lion (os 10.7) currently.
What I want to do. Always run this app on an account that has parental controls set up on my mac. The blender app would be a part of the allowed apps for the account.
Here's where I have my problem:
I have set it up to run on an account that has parental controls set up.
The problem I keep running in to is that every time I try to run blender I receive a popup window that says the app is not allowed and gives me three options: always allow, allow once, or okay (and close without trying to open).
Everytime I try to click always allow and enter my password, the process just repeats the next time I open the app. This make me believe that perhaps there is some sort of executable that the blender app uses before starting that the parental controls is stopping and even when I allow blender to start, there is something else not being allowed through. Any ideas on how I can work around this (obviously I want to keep parental controls on to prevent access to other apps)?
I'm not overly computer savvy but I can give some more info as requested if my question needs further explanation/documentation
I guess the best way to see the problem for yourself is to download blender and try using it on an account with parental controls, heh heh.
This is more of an annoyance having to enter the passcode everytime I want to use this wonderful app.

I updated to OSX Mavericks and the parental controls issue went away for Blender.

Parental control - desired features

I posted the message below to apple TV feedback page and I though I'd share it with you too, and get a penny for your thoughts; perhaps even brainstorm a bit more on the parental control issue, because WE (parents with young children) need a better and easier parental control...

- The second BIG BIG reason why i don't want the parental control ON.. is that the pin is VISIBLE! If we are all planing to watch something (buy a movie, which is a restricted service, let's say) I will have to enter the pin in visible for my young children to see. Of course this pin will have to be changed later on to something else to make sure the parental control stays what it's meant to be.. a parental control. What good it is a parental control with a public pin?
Solution: instead of visible password.. you can allow the option to click the five buttons left/right/up/down/center in a specific order. How many permutation of 5 buttons can we have? 5! = 12*3*45 = 120, but wait... we can press a button multiple times.. so the total number of codes we can enter is.. whatever you want. e.g. if the codes should have 4 "digits", the number of combinations is 5^4 = 625. Anyway, you get the idea. You should absolutely find a way to replace the visible pin with an invisible one.. using the key combinations is one such solution.
Looking more into the future... a biometric sensor on the remote that will unlock the restricted material instantly by just pressing the finger (fingerprint) on the remote would be awesome. Perhaps this won't make it to the next apple tv remote iteration but it is something that apple is aiming for... ultimate simplicity.
Also an accelerometer based remote would also make the browsing the apple tv content a LOT faster and smoother than clicking buttons (wii-like remote perhaps?). Clicking and holding buttons (quite hard to press for my taste) to go down to the bottom of a 200 song list is quite painful.
Also.. one more thing.. it would be nice to have a HOME button similar to the iPhone home.. One click and i'm back to the main menu. Perhaps a double click on the menu button? I hate having to click 5 times to get out of a music location to get to the main menu. Quicker access please!??

Parental Controls problem

Hi, I have recently turned on parental controls. Mountain Lion is now asking for a admin name and password. My current user had admin rights. No longer is this the case. I have no idea what the admin account or password I am being asked for.

No internet access when Parental Controls are enabled.

I have a MacBook Pro running Leopard(OSX 10/5.8). Until recently Parental Controls worked flawlessly for my kids accounts. Within the last few weeks something happened and now the kids can't get to any websites with Parental Controls enabled. Every URL we try we get a "can't connect to the server" message in Safari. Switching their accounts to standard fixes the issue so it is definitelyt a Parental Controls issue. I created a new account and see the same issue if I make it a managed account. Nothing has changed with our setup. i.e. no software upgrades, router changes etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm experiencing the same issues. I've tried some of the work-arounds that people reported as working for them, but they haven't solved the issue for me. I don't know if this is a good clue, but here is the error log from /private/var/log/apache2

Parental controls won't turn off.

Since installing OS X 10.8.2 my iMac keeps asking to override Parental controls in order to access websites in spite of the fact that Parental controls are not set to restrict access to websites. This happens even if I turn off Parental controls altogether.

I have a workaround that worked for me - sort of.
Option 1: Create a new user account. This particular parental controls issue seems to only affect upgraded accounts, so a new user account won't have the same issues.
Option 2: Disable parental controls until Apple can provide a real fix or until you can do Option 1. Follow these detailed steps: (a) Promote the affected user to an administrator. (b) Reboot. (c) Log in as that user. (d) Demote that user to a regular user. (e) Do *not* enable parental controls. (f) Reboot. (g) Log in as that user again. The annoying errors should be gone, but you won't have parental controls. If you enable parental controls again, the errors will return, even if you disable parental controls. You'll have to go through the whole promote/demote thing again to make the errors go away.
I don't consider either of these workarounds to be very good, but they may be better than what you're currently experiencing.

I'm also wondering if there's a .plist file somewhere that can just be deleted (and automatically rebuilt at next reboot), but I haven't gotten that far yet.

Parental Controls deleted but still a problem!

I've read a few messages here about people experiencing parental control issues - we are too. My son cannot connect to anything he needs at the moment including google. I have switched off then deleted parental controls on mybt, he has cleared the cache on his computer and we have reset the hub but he is still unable to access sites. Do we just have to wait it out for it to come back ? but sureley resetting the hub should have celared everything ??? or is there something else we should do.
Help appreciated asap as he has A level schoolwork to do. Thanks

Thanks for posting and welcome to the forum. The parental controls are applied at network level so resetting your Hub or computer settings will not have any effect. If you've followed these instructions to turn off parental controls it can take two hours for them to completely deactivate.
