Parental Controls for downloading from ITunes to Nano

Does ITunes have parental controls like AOL does?

Somewhat.
Edit>Preferences>Parental
There aren't many restrictions though.

Try the troubleshooting for that error code on this page : iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting - Apple Support (search for '8003' on the page, it's just below half-way down)

  • Downloads from iTunes on my macbook air do not download on my desktop but remain in iTunes folder which refuse to open for use.

I couldn't get downloads from iTunes to be on the desktop of my Macbook air but they remain in iTunes folder and refuse to open for use. What am I to do?

Downloads of what?  Songs?  Apps?  Books?
If you're talking about apps, then you have downloaded iOS apps which are intended to run on an iPhone or iPad, not a Mac.

  • Iphone won't download from itunes (purchases or updates) and keeps asking for password

  • Ive had my iPod classic for some time now, and up to now have been using my laptop to sync songs from iTunes.  Unfortunatley, the laptop has died and I'm thinking of buying a iPad.....but how do i now get any songs downloaded from iTunes to my iPod?

I've had my iPod classic for some time now, and up to now have been connecting it to my laptop to sync any downloaded tunes from iTunes.  Unfortunately, the laptop has died and I'm thinking of buying a iPad.....but how do I now get any songs downloaded from iTunes to my iPod?

If an iPod is set to update automatically it will be associated with a particular library. If you connect that iPod to a different computer or a different library on the same computer you get the the message you are referring to. "The iPod "iPod Name"is linked to another another iTunes music library. Do you want to change the link to this iTunes music library and replace all existing songs and playlists on this iPod with those from this library". To use an iPod on multiple computers you change the update method to "manually manage songs and playlists". You can also use multiple iPods on a single computer so you will be able to connect both of your iPods to your existing iTunes. Connect the new iPod and follow the on screen instructions, iTunes will open and update your iPod.
    For info:
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

I downloaded from iTunes a hd movie for the first time. What a disaster ! Keep stopping and looks like after 2 days has not been downloaded. What am I suppose to do? Can I get my money back? How?

    Contact iTunes suport... http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
It sounds like you might have a slow wifi internet connection?  How fast is it with a speed test from your iPad.

  • My movie I recently downloaded from itunes "Act of Valor" only works for a out 5 chapters, then it stops working. Other movies work on my iPod touch. How do I fix this issue? If I can't, can I get my money back?

My movie I recently downloaded from itunes "Act of Valor" only works for a out 5 chapters, then it stops working. Other movies work on my iPod touch. How do I fix this issue? If I can't, can I get my money back?

    - Go here and see if you can redownload the movies. If you can then delete the movie and redownlod it.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - Otherwise, contact iTunes and explain your problem. They should allow a free redownload.

If you have iTunes 11 on your computer then you can enable the left-hand sidebar on it via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC - when connected (and if your computer's iTunes is up-to-date) your iPad should then appear on that sidebar under a 'Devices' heading :
If you select the iPad on that sidebar you can then use the Movies tab on the right-hand side of the iTunes screen to select and sync that film to your iPad's Videos app.
Has your iPad been synced to the computer before ? If not then you might find this page for syncing to a new computer useful : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141

  • Downloads from iTunes On A New Computer

I have a few (thankkfully) songs downloaded from iTunes that I have legally paid for. I have recently built myself a new computer and transferred all my music from the hard drive in the old computer to the new one. The old computer's hard drive was then refornatted and is now used as a back-up disc in the new computer. This evening I've ripped a couple of new CDs (music I have similarly legally bought) and and updated my iPod, however, I get a message that the tracks I downloaded have not been transferred as they're not authorized on my new computer.
How do I get these tracks transferred?
I understand the rationale behind the restrictions but do Apple expect me to keep the same computer for ever?
For anyone from Apple reading this, I will NEVER download another track from iTunes or any other source until I have the right to transfer that music easily as I do when I buy a CD. Ok, I might have to pay a £ or so extra for a CD but at least I have control of what I've purchased.

You authorize your new system by simply playing a few seconds of one of your purchases to trigger authorization. If it's a cases of moving purchased music to a new system, you can download only once, then you will have to use some type of backup media suchas data CD/DVD's or an EHD to transfer your purchase to your new system, then trigger authorization by playing.

  • HT2729 Why won't certain videos (downloaded from iTunes) sync on my iPod?

I have a new iPod Classic and it won't sync some of my videos. I've reset it. I've got everything checked. All files and videos play in my library. There all in the same location and files. Its  After syncing I get the "some videos were not synced because the format is not supported". All the vids were downloaded from iTunes Store. WTH? Can anyone think of a solution? What is wrong?
    Thanks,
    WB

    Hey Willm700,
Great question. iTunes defaults to downloading HD content when available, whereas your iPod classic is not compatible with HD playback. The solution would be to download the SD version of the content from your purchase history:
iTunes: Sync purchased HD videos to iPod or iOS device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4223
The easiest way to put purchased videos onto your device is to download the videos from iTunes in the Cloud. This should make sure that you get the highest resolution video optimized for your specific device.
Syncing video to iPhone 3G or earlier, iPod touch (1st or 2nd generation), iPod classic, iPod 5th generation, or iPod nano (3rd, 4th, or 5th generation):
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Parental Controls for Safari

Does anyone know of an effective parental control for OX 10.3 for Safari to not allow my teens on inappropriate web sites?

I can't remember what we did for our child in Panther but what happens when you go to User Accounts in System Preferences and click on Limitations for a User other than the Admin? I know that we were able to create a User Account with more limited access in 10.3.9 for our young child.
We're about to test out KidsBrowser (because of its graphical interface for young kids) but the same company makes CutX for Safari for teens. (More info at company's site here and you can download a trial version.) CutX will allow you to limit objectionable websites (based on certain keywords and URLs) but it doesn't help with other critical children's internet safety issues such as email and especially chat access and transmission of personal information.
You can also look at What's New in Tiger—Family Controls which has many more parental control options. You can even enable parental controls from within Safari and limit email access by specific address in the User Preferances pane.
(Just in case you haven't checked them out already, there's more information about the issue in general at GetNetWise (including information on internet safety products) and NetSmartz.
I don't envy you - it's a lot simpler doing this for our younger-aged children.
    Good luck!
