Hi,
After attempting to view my first asp.net page I was greeted
with the following error:

Are you testing on the server or locally. If the latter is
true make sure
that a copy of the controls is in a bin folder at the
C:\inetpub\wwwroot
level.

    Hi Mubarak,
Please firstly make sure you installed SharePoint Foundation 2010 with SP2 in a Windows Server 2012 R2. Since only SP2 slipstream installations are supported on Windows Server 2012 R2

I started getting this error message for the first time today. When I look in the event log I see it every time anyone tries to sync to a mobile device to the exchange server. I've also had this problem trying to connect using
Outlook. I believe it is an IIS issue but I'm not absolutely sure so I'm posting this in the Exchange forum as well.

I have tried most, if not all, of the different post's suggestions to no avail.
The steps I have taken are as follows...
    1. Repaired .Net 4 (Both the client and extended)
    2. Uninstalled and reinstalled .Net Framework 4.0.
    3. Verified that the dll exists.
    4. Checked the applicationHost.config file. It contains the follow statement...
    <add name="ServiceModel-4.0" type="System.ServiceModel.Activation.ServiceHttpModule, System.ServiceModel.Activation, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" preCondition="managedHandler,runtimeVersionv2.0"
    />
    5. Changed the following line in web.config to include the runtimeVersion...
    <add name="ServiceModel" type="System.ServiceModel.Activation.HttpModule, System.ServiceModel.Activation, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" preCondition="managedHandler,runtimeVersionv2.0" />
    6. Executed aspnet_regiis.exe -iru from the ...\Framework64\v4.0.30319 directory.
    7. Went to inetpub\history to use an applicationHost.config file from yesterday but it only has history from 9PM tonight. It probably had what I needed before I started changing it tonight.
I still receive the same error message.
Like I said everything was working yesterday. In fact I didn't hear or see any issue until after 1PM today.
Any help would be very appreciated!

    Hi,
Please confirm whether users can access their mailboxes from Outlook Web Access or not. We can do the following changes to have a try:
    1. In IIS > Application Pools, change the .NET Framework Version to v2.0 and restart IIS service.
    2. If it doesn’t work, explore the Default Web site.
    3. Renamed the web.config file to web.config.old
    4. Reset IIS using iisreset command to have a try.
    Thanks,

  • ASPNETCOMPILER error ASPCONFIG Could not load file or assembly Oracle.Data

I have migrated my .Net solution from 3.5 to 4.0 which consist of a class library and a web service. Web serivice is dependent on class library and the class library uses oracle.dataaccess.dll version 4.112.3.0. I have installed ODAC 11.2.0 in my machine.
When I try to build the solution using MSBUILD.EXE I am getting the below error on my build machine.
ASPNETCOMPILER : error ASPCONFIG: Could not load file or assembly 'Oracle.DataAccess' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. [D:\VEROS_BuildFolder\CDDS_MERGE_CODEDROP_.NETUPGRADE\WEB Services\AppraisalSubmission\AppraisalSubmissionService.metaproj]
And I try to build from VS2010, it is building successfully.
But we need to build only using MSBUILD.EXE which resides in "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319" path. While building using MSBUILd.EXE the Oracle.DataAccess.dll is getting copied into the BIN folder of the web service. It should reference from GAC location. My build serveer is 64 bit win2008 server. when I checked the dll version install using GACUTIL , I got the below result
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A\bin\NETFX 4.0 Tools>gacutil /l oracle.dataaccess
The Global Assembly Cache contains the following assemblies:
    oracle.dataaccess, Version=2.112.3.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342, processorArchitecture=AMD64
    oracle.dataaccess, Version=4.112.3.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342, processorArchitecture=AMD64
    oracle.dataaccess, Version=4.112.3.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342, processorArchitecture=x86
Previous the application was building successfully using framework 3.5 and Oracle.DataAccess.dll version 2.112.3.0.
Please help to build my applicaiton using MSBUILD 4.0 version.

Typically, when you get the "load a program with an incorrect format" exception, it's a mismatch in the bit-ness of the Oracle client you're using and the project you're building. By default, .net builds in AnyCPU mode. That means if you do it on a 64 bit system, you'll get a 64 bit (x64) program. That doesn't work with a 32 bit Oracle client. Usually, you'll need to force MSBUILD to build a 32 bit (x86) result. That will use the 32 bit Oracle client successfully. There's probably a command line switch for that. When building in Visual Studio, you can do it from the Build > Configuration Manager menu.
Now in this case it looks like you actually have both 32 and 64 bit versions of Oracle.DataAccess in the GAC, so I'm not sure if you have both Oracle clients or not. If you have one in the \bin with Copy Local = True, you could be getting the wrong one. You'll want to set Copy Local = False on the properties of the reference and remove that file from the \bin.

  • Could not load file or assembly 'log4net, Version=1.2.10.0, Culture=neutral

    Hi,
I have a web site developed with vs 2010 (32-bit) and crystal report 13 (for sv 2010). It's working well i when crystal report installed in gac. I need to this app on a server WITHOUT crystal report installed. so I copied all required crystal assemblies into the bin folder and publish it. I always get following error message
Could not load file or assembly 'log4net, Version=1.2.10.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)
I tried a lot of solutions in this forum, but none of them resolved my issue.
    Please help!!
    thanks,
    Max

Stick with x86 or x64, not Any CPU.
    Don't include log4net manually

Sorry for late response. I fixed the issue by installing the correct version of ASP .NET 4 from

If .NET Framework 4.5 is already installed, also run aspnet_regiis -i from C:\windows\microsoft.net\Framework\v4.0.30319

  • Could not load file or assembly Microsoft.ServiceHosting.Tools

I just got a new workstation set up and I installed VS 2013 with Windows Azure SDK 2.3 first. But then I realized that our project was built upon Windows Azure SDK 2.2. So I uninstalled the SDK 2.3 and then installed 2.2. After that, I got the project from
TFS and tried to run it and there was a problem:
Cannot debug the project because some run time file was missing.
So I tried to repair it by uninstalling Windows Azure SDK 2.2 completely and repair my VisualStudio. But now I get this error message:
Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.ServiceHosting.Tools, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture =neutral, PublicKeyToken=232wedsfd3f4' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
I looked through the project and there wasn't any reference of Miscrosoft.ServiceHosting. And the database and cloud are working. No idea what happened in the machine since Azure is a new field for me. Does anybody ever meet the same problem?

    Hi,
From my experience, there may be some component missing on your computer, I suggest you uninstall again (everything with Azure keyword in control panel, not only the SDK-> Add remove programs."), then open Microsoft web platform installer (http://www.microsoft.com/web/downloads/platform.aspx),
select azure sdk 2.3, then install this product. Hope this helps, if not, please feel free to let me know.
    Best Regards

I have made sure that I am referencing the 64 bit sdk .dlls from C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64\. I only have 64 bit installed as well. Are InfoStore, Framework, and PluginManager only x86?
    Thanks!

    Hi Dustin
You do  not need to be concerned if your app references 32 or 64 bit assemblies. VS being 32 bit, needs to reference 32 bit assemblies in order to compile correctly. Thus running the app from the VS IDE, you wil be using 32 bit assemblies. Using a compiled exe or a DLL, the app will use 32 bit or 64 bit assemblies depending on how the app was compiled and "bitness" of the OS.
E.g;; an app compiled as 32 bit will require 32 bit assemblies
An app compiled as 64 bit will run 64 bit assemblies - on 64 bit OS only.
An app compiled as "Any CPU", will run 32 b it or 64 bit assemblies, depending on the OS. On a 64 bit OS, the app will by definition use 64 bit assemblies (but it is up to you to deploy the 64 bit runtime - not the 32 bit runtime). On a 32 bit OS the app will use 32 bit assemblies.

P.S. I am using Crystal Reports 2008 and Visual Studio 2008.
    Thank you in advance.

    A couple things here:
Your application is referencing the Windows form dll for the bundled version of Cr that comes with VS.NET 2008 and NOT the Crystal Reports 2008 runtime.  You need to change the references in the project to 12.xxx assuming you have Crystal Reports 2008 SP0 installed (this is needed for it to work with .NET 2008)
You need to make sure you deploy the runtimes for the appropriate version.  If you get your application upgraded to use all of the CR 2008 runtimes you will then need to deploy the runtimes to the machine you are deploying to.  You can do this by using the merge modules or the server install msi to get them on the machine.

This was definitely the right answer, I thought ODAC was already installed on the server, but apparently not. I installed the 64-bit OCAC XCopy version on the server and now it works.

    Hi Thomas,
According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you created a site collection in SharePoint 2013.
I found a similar thread with yours, maybe it also was created by you. Anyway ,in the thread, the workaround is Changing the virtual directory web config of CA (Option 1 and 2 mentioned at
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn473937.aspx ) and it worked.
More information, please take a look at:

    I hope this helps.
    Thanks,
