Part compatibility question -- keyboards are model/processor specific?

I'm pretty sure people list out keyboards as compatible with certain CPU, as a way to identify the form factor -- but is it true that the keyboard varies within the macbook prop line? I mean, other than between the unibody aluminum and (what I call) the "classic" types?
In other words, there are only 2 types for the 17" right?

Keyboards are not model or processor specific, but they are likely to be specific to a design. This means you cannot simply replace an existing keyboard with any other keyboard because of physical and electronic compatibility concerns.
Your model has one keyboard. That particular keyboard is available from Apple in one of four language customizations (at least on the newest models.)

  • GS60 Ghost Pro - Some parts of Steel Keyboard are not illuminated

    Hi,
I bought myself a GS60 2PE Ghost Pro a couple of days ago. The Keyboard illumination was working fine at first, but today I noticed that some parts of my Steel Keyboard are not illuminated anymore. My laptop was updated by Windows Update Manager, so I thought it had something to do with newly installed updates. But I did a full system recovery with F3 and the keyboard is still not illuminated properly.
Any ideas what can fix this issue?

I have checked out the GS60 2PC (same generation as yours) and I saw what you mean.
I didn't notice this before when I tested the GS60 models.
When looking at the keyboard on smaller angle (<70°) you can see there is less light coming from the F1, F7, F8, F9, F11, TAB, CAPS, SHIFT, ENTER and Numpad keys.
The amount of light that is visible below the keys isn't consistent everywhere and that seems to suggest that the keyboard back-lighting isn't working properly at those keys.
Looking below the F7, F8, F9 keys, I see that only the top left part of the key is illuminated, while other keys (i.e. F2..F6) are also illuminated on the right part of the key.
I have checked with our R&D department and this is a design choice.
The F2..F6 keys have a symbol in the top-left and the bottom-right part of the key and the F1, F7..F9, F11 only have a symbol in the top-left, which doesn't require lighting in the lower right part of the key.
This also applies to the bigger keys (TAB, CAPS, SHIFT, ENTER and Numpad keys), only the center of the key where the symbol resides is illuminated.
When looking at the keyboard in dim/dark rooms the keyboard back-lighting works as expected and keys can easily be identified because the symbol on the key lights up.
I hope the attached pictures clarify the situation (It isn't easy to capture the real effect with a simple digital camera. The situation in the pictures actually look worse than viewing it in real life).
    P.S.,
More pictures and a video in the attached Zip file.
The video might show the situation the best.

  • What usb keyboards are compatible with the Intel iMac

Please can someone tell me what USB Apple Keybouards are compatable with the intel Imac
    howard

Some PC keyboards may not work with the Mac. Especially, specialty gaming keyboards will not work with Macs and OS X.  Some PC keyboards are designed to specifically work with newer versions of Windows at that's it!
They may not even work as a basic keyboard, but not entirely sure.
I know for a fact specialty gaming keyboards do not work at all on a Mac because there have been posts here from gamers who tried to use special gaming keyboards and mice and they would not function on a Mac.
If you know anyone with a Mac, ask them if they have a spare Mac keyboard you can try before buying.
    Good Luck!

Hi there, I just bought an iMac 2011.  Just a quick question.  Are those keyboard and mouse batteries that comes with the package are rechargeable?  Thanks!

Mine was bought last year and they were not; it they don't say "rechargeable". they're not. I started to use rechargeable as soon as the original batteries died.

  • Sinchronization between service master & model service specification

    Hi,
We are using service master in MM and we are trying to use the model service specifications. However we are read and seen that the model doesn't change according to the service master. I mean if I set deletion flag to a service, the model services where that service is present doesn't change (the same with changes in price and so on).
Does anybody know if there is other funcionality that work of this way? If not, from the ABAP programming point of view, has anybody achieved this sinchronization, how?
    Thans in advance

  • Buzzing/whining sound coming from top left keyboard area...?

For a couple of months now (I think, I can't pinpoint when exactly this started), there has been an annoying buzzing/whining sound coming from the very top left part of my keyboard (I think). It happens when the computer is on and dies down once I turn it off but kind of does a very quiet "tick-tick" thing for a few minutes after shutdown. At first I thought it was the screen because it sounds like it's coming from the very bottom left corner of the screen (or the very top left corner of the keyboard, I can't tell)... but adjusting the brightness doesn't seem to affect it. It increases when I'm typing or moving the cursor and decreases when I'm not doing anything, but it's always present. I have checked my hard drive and everything's okay, so I'm not sure what it could be. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Performance hasn't been affected (as of yet), so it's just more of an annoyance.
Another thing - for a while now (probably over a year), the screen has been flickering intermittently. It will go darker to lighter to darker to lighter quickly whether the screen has been on only a few minutes or several hours. This seems to have decreased lately, but maybe the two issues are related...?
I got my MacBook soon after they came out with the first black one, whenever that was.
    Thanks for your help!

Why not answer my question if you want help? Does your "ordinary keyboard that has midi capabilities" have a transpose function or a split keyboard mode that you may have accidentally activated? Did you try the solution I offered you?

  • Are the processors replaceable?

Ok so here's my second part of the question (first question being: are the core duos 32-bit or 64-bit). Are the processors replaceable or would I have to purchase a brand new mac to have 64-bit?

Days of user-replaceable, plug-in processors on consumer equipment are long gone. Not that there ever were any in the laptop arena. Start cozying up to the piggy bank....

  • Basic questions on data modeling

    Hi experts,
I have some basic questions regarding data modeling within MDM. I understand the available table types and the concept of lookup fields. I know that the MDM data modeling concept is different to the relational concept. But having a strong database background my first step was to design a relational data model which I would like to transfer to a MDM repository. Unfortunately I didn't found good information material on this. So here are some questions maybe you can help me:
    1) Is it the right approach to model n:m relationships with multivalued lookup fields? E.g. main table Users with lookup field from subtable SapAccounts (a user can have accounts in different SAP systems, that means more than one account).
    2) Has a record always be unique in MDM repositories (e.g. should we use Auto ID's in every table or do we have to mark a combination of fields as unique)? Is a composite key of 2 or more fields represented with marking these fields as unique?
    3) The concept of relationships in MDM is only based on relationships between single records (not valid for all records in a table)? Is it necessary to define all relationships similar to the relational data model in MDM? Is there something similar to referential integrity in MDM?
    4) Is it possible to change the main table to a sub table later on if we realize that it has also to be used as a lookup table for another table (when extending the data model) or do we have to create a new repository from scratch?
    Thank you for your answers.
    Regards, bd

Yes you are correct. It is almost difficult to map relational database to mdm one. But again MDM is not 'just' a database. It holds much more 'master' information as compared to any relational db.
    1) Is it the right approach to model n:m relationships with multivalued lookup fields? E.g. main table Users with lookup field from subtable SapAccounts (a user can have accounts in different SAP systems, that means more than one account).
Yes Here you need to use MV look up tables or can also try Qualifier tables if it gets more complex
    2) Has a record always be unique in MDM repositories (e.g. should we use Auto ID's in every table or do we have to mark a combination of fields as unique)? Is a composite key of 2 or more fields represented with marking these fields as unique?
Concept of uniqueness differs here that you also have something called Display Fields (DF). A combination of DF can also be treated as Unique one. For instance while importing records if you select these DF as a combination, you will eliminate any possible of duplicates based on this combination. Auto Id is one of the ways to have a unique id once record is within MDM. While you use UF or DF to eliminate any possible duplicates at import level
    3) The concept of relationships in MDM is only based on relationships between single records (not valid for all records in a table)? Is it necessary to define all relationships similar to the relational data model in MDM? Is there something similar to referential integrity in MDM?
Hmm... good one. Referencial Integrity. What I assume you are talking is that if you have relationships between tables then removing a record will not be possible as it is a foreign key for some record. Here MDM does not allow that. As Relationships within MDM are physical and not conceptual. For instance material can have components. Now if material does not exist then any relationship to components is not worthwile to maintain. Hence relationshsip is eliminated.  While in relational model relationships are more conceptual. Hence with MDM usage of lookups and main table you do not need to maintain these kind of relationships on your own.
    4) Is it possible to change the main table to a sub table later on if we realize that it has also to be used as a lookup table for another table (when extending the data model) or do we have to create a new repository from scratch?
No. It is not possible to convert main table. There is only one main table and it cannot be changed.
I went for the same option but it did not work. What I suggest is to look up your legacy system one by one and see what fields in general can be classified as Master, Reference, Transactional - You will start getting answers immediately.

  • How to change the  short text in  a model service specification??

    Hi,
I've tried changing a model service specification using the transaction code ML11 but couldnt change the  short text language from German to English.

    Hi
One possibility is to Maintain the  languages in the Additional data tab  under description in the material master record for your Services . Please check wether both the languages are maintained or not . Please correct me if i am wrong .

  • Error at PO when copying Short Text Service from Model Serv Specification

    Dear Gurus,
I maintained a couple of short text services (No Service Master, No Service Number) under a specific Model Service Specification. I maintained the Price(Condition Type = PRS) for these short text services. However, I'm hitting a problem when I'm copying these services over from this MSS to a PO. For those short text services at the MSS which I maintained the Price(Condition Type = PRS), when I copy them over at the PO, SAP will prompt me to put in a price (even though I have maintained the price at the MSS). However, even after entering a price and pressing enter, I get the following error -> Not possible to determine net value Message no. SE377. I cannot save the PO
Note*: For those short text services whereby I didnt maintain the Price(Condition Type = PRS), everything is fine when I copy it over and put in the price. I can save the PO
    Please advise.

  • Captivate 7, sequencing quiz question, answers are not reshuffled

    Hello,
I have made a quiz using Cp7. The questions are all sequencing questions. The first time around, the answers are shuffled, as one would expect. Then the quiz-taker puts the answers in the correct order. However, the following times the quiz-taker does the quiz, the answers aren't shuffled! So if the quiz-taker gets Question 1 right the first time, when he or she tries the quiz again, the answers for Question 1 are in the right order when the question first opens.
Does anyone know what's going on here?
    Thank you. Marvin DuBois

Thank you again. And yes, I should make a formal request.
I might just mention that I've found something of a work-around. (This won't be news to you, but others in the same boat as myself might appreciate this.) Note that this works within a very specific context, so it is by no means a complete solution. But here goes.
We run the Cp quizzes in an LMS (and that means, of course, a specific LMS). The solution works in this context. When making up a Cp quiz, I add a regular (non-question) slide after the score slide. On this slide I put a button that opens a webpage via a URL. And this URL is for the quiz itself--i.e. it is the LMS's address for the quiz. Thus, clicking the button simply restarts the quiz all over again, and this takes care of the randomization issues.
This solution has two major drawbacks:
1.The resume option has to be off.
2.The Cp quiz itself cannot keep track of the attempts at doing the quiz (since with each new retake, the counting restarts at '1').
I don't like having to do without the resume function. But in our particular case, the second issue isn't all that important. The LMS itself tracks the attempts at taking the quiz, so this information is always available both to quiz-takers and to administrators/teachers. (On the score slide itself, I simply remove the fields for the number of attempts.)
At the moment, I'm trying to come up with a solution that would allow us to retain the resume function. So far, no luck, but we'll see.
    Best regards,
    Marvin DuBois
